- This was one of the craziest properties I've ever done. While mowing this empty corner lot, this very angry man approached me an things spiraled out of control. Once he called me a terrorist I knew things would not end well.

He's mentally ill - probably suffers from paranoia and who knows what else. You did a great job of deescalating the situation and being respectful.
The work you did get done looks nice even though not finished. Just by cleaning the curbside at least the water can flow as intended by design. Not going to lie, that old codger was mean. ♥️👍
I agree 100%! This was a good video for me to watch as I become so frustrated seeing areas in my neighborhood that aren't being maintained, and some are vacant lots. Now I can understand why some areas aren't cleaned up by helpful people. In the past I have cleaned up some little areas in my neighborhood (no equipment, just pulling weeds or cleaning up trash) and I have been so nervous doing it - afraid someone will do something.
I tend to agree with you this man is mentally ill.
VET. Even
Bought on by himself!! Recreational drugs no doubt!! Self inflicted, no sympathy!! Drain on society. 🇬🇧🖕
I can almost assure you that the older man has dementia. Don't worry about it. You work miracles every day!
Thank you. Maybe he’ll wake up tomorrow and be pleased with it!
It's probably more than dementia. Not trying to be disagreeable. It's the terrorist comment that makes me think he is psychotic.
@TopNotchLawns Quite sure you’re right about this one. Schizophrenia is a nasty disease. A simple call to the Non-Emergency Line Police to have an Officer come out to settle this dispute with a Vacant Lot. Just Bad Luck encounter. Go back and ask the Neighbour that was trimming her Lawn across the street what was up perhaps.
I agree I think he has dementia they do in some ppl get quite angry. No you weren't in the wrong I know you don't want to cause problems, you could have called the city to see who owns the lot.
You did nothing wrong. Unfortunately I’m pretty sure that he’s struggling with a mental illness. I’m so sorry that that happened to you.
You have a good heart…don’t let the older man upset you! You were not wrong at all.
I agree Brian shows respect to everyone he encounters and this older man was just completely ignorant
Don't let him bother you. Some people are just angry. You are a blessing ❤
Amen
Your comment about "wishing he'd come out before you finished the edging" was solid gold! But seriously, those encounters can really shake you up... go home, hug your family, and know you were doing a good thing. Glad you're okay. 😊
The poor neighbours having to suffer that.
I think that man has some issues. Imagine what his neighbors deal with. You handled it in the best way.
Thank you Jennifer 😊👋
@@TopNotchLawns You're very welcome!
Cuckoo!
No he didn't. He ran like a coward and didn't even call the cops to report him. Nobody can help the old man if they do nothing. Get to safety and then phone the cops. Shame on him. How is he going to protect his family? Unbelievable!
@@ItsTheTruthLady Report him for what exactly? He didn't threaten him or show any weapons that I'm aware of.
Your work speaks for itself. I once gave a homeless man money, and he yelled at me and refused it (mental case). That one incident has not stopped me from giving to OTHER homeless. Do your thing and make No apologies. We love your content.
Some people are just miserable souls! You did nothing wrong and handled yourself very well in a crazy situation. Thanks for the kindness you share daily💙
Please don't let one dementia patient stop your incredibly good work! Keep on mowing. You might suggest a representative of your community adult services review your video.
That's a really good idea.
Excellent idea
Dementia my ass. He’s just an asshole! Stop thinking all assholes have dementia and let them off the hook. Show me a diagnosis of dementia and I’ll believe it
My dad had dementia and he sure as heck never ever acted like that. He stayed his sweet self to the end. However that guy could have it and was never ever a pleasant person to start with. 🤷♀️
@@mimistans7715 violent outbursts are fairly normal in Alzheimer’s and dementia. It’s one of the worst parts of the disease for family . Their formerly kind and loving family member becomes violent in actions and words
Don't let it discourage you. It happens to the best of us.
Eff that guy.
Lol 😆 Thanks! Just glad yelling was the only thing involved!
@@TopNotchLawns I totally agree. He could have easily taken out a gun.
I don’t think it’s dementia. I have family members with dementia and while there are different types of dementia, I’ve never seen anyone quit that extreme.
I was given a tee shirt many years ago and on the front it said: "Practice random acts of kindness and senseless beauty", and I took that to heart. I understand why you feel compelled to step in when you see a property in this shape. You can see the improvement immediately...instant gratification. You are making the world a more beautiful place, one overgrown yard at a time.
Don't let the old fellow rattle you too much. He is unwell and that is very apparent in the video, it is really good for you to have your video camera set up as you do, this gives you a good level of protection by showing what went down with the interaction.
The same thing happened to blessing boys and M&D Lawn care last week!! People can’t just appreciate the kindness that you do for the neighborhood! Don’t let this one get you down. Keep doing what you do Brian!! ❤
Blessing Boys twice. Not so bad as this guy though, he was pretty scary!
All of this youtube lawn care for likes and subscribes is getting out of hand. Theres hundreds of them now. There will be one one day whose intention won't be just to clean up a lawn. Further, you have the right to clean up public land, but even then not really. If you don't get permission DON'T DO IT!
@@karenharrison885 first, Brian asked around to the neighbors before starting the cleanup. It’s not his fault that this ONE neighbor didn’t like him cleaning up the land. All of the lawn care videos I watch, they ALWAYS reach out to the neighbors, the landlords or the city before they do their work. Second, in no way, shape or form do any of the lawn care guys and gals do there work for likes and comments! There are sooo many people out there who can’t afford the lawn care or are disabled or don’t have the equipment to do their own lawn. Everyone, especially Brian, do this work from their heart. They do the work because they enjoy it and they want to help people in the area! I watch their videos mostly to calm my brain after a long day at work. And I know most other people do too or they watch for tips on how to take care of their own lawns. Again, brian, keep up the good work!
The old man doesn’t answer for the City, actually should have been reported. The City should appreciate. Least they need to be made aware of the incident.
Consult with the municipality about cleaning up abandoned lots and get their support for those unsupported folks.
Watching your work is mesmerizing and calming. Doing a good job has more than one rewarding benefit, even if vicariously.
STAY SAFE!
That was a very mentally unstable man!!!!!!! Just glad you are safe.
You were definitely not in the wrong! He's just a demented old man. You do good everyday and unfortunately some people don't appreciate it, but I guarantee you most people do. Keep doing what you're doing. I love watching you spread kindness throughout the community. ❤️
So sad this happened to you. All of us out here watching your videos, think you are a great guy. Blessings to you.
Always try to check with at least 2 neighbors bordering the property where you intend to work, not only can they tell you if the house/lot is vacant/abandoned but they might be able to give you a 'heads-up' on any crazy people or squatters living there.
Exactly the comments I was going to give. Very wise advice!
So he just take it up him self to clean up over grown lots without any approval or anything ? While I get wanting to help but this a good reason not to
Good advice.Intentions are good. Finding out who the owner of a property is and getting their approval is my advice. I can see a property owner being concerned as to what’s going on. Now this man’s reaction was in called for.
Hindsight is a great thing .
He did knock on his door as he did ask the guy if he lived in that house where he had knocked on.
Scary - I'm glad you're ok . Please be careful. There are a lot of disturbed people out there. You weren't in the wrong.
Thank you for forgiving him. He’s obviously not right. I pray he has family that sees this and are on top of his needs. Still looking great and moving better!
Outdoors with Erik comes across angries like this all the time. He handles it as graceful as you did. Grat job anyway. So glad you're safe.
His videos are fake
To be fair he seems to encounter it a little too much - almost as if it's staged. Which makes me kind of sad for him that he might do that for clicks. I stopped watching him because there were so many "confrontations" in his videos that it seemed a little too much and too over the top to be legit. I watch a lot of lawnmowing guys, and none of them have that many confrontations, but most of them have the very infrequent incident, like this one. Most people are not going to get upset that an eyesore of a lot is being beautified.
Yep, I gave up watching Eric...click bait and shitty acting.😂
You handled that as graciously and diplomatically as possible. The guy has problems to say the least. You did the safe thing to simply get away as quickly as you could. Who knows what he might have done next.
Whatever he may have done next, he would have done it to a trespasser.
What a psycho. So sorry he treated you that way. You are a blessing to so many people.❤
Thanks so much! Blessings to you! 😊😊👋
Someone like that does not need to be wandering the streets (unattended). Especially with kids in the neighborhood.
Call police
@@racerx009 Lucky he wasn't wandering the streets and was on his property, attending to a trespasser, So of course the owner is a villain for no other reason than a couch Karen thinks his property is open range. Or did you mean the youtuber ?
You need to check your area's GIS mapping on properties to see who is listed as the owner before hand. Then give them a call if you find a number to reach out. I'm sure once you tell them what you are doing they will tell you " go for it brother " !
You were not in the wrong. And you handled the situation politely and perfectly. It's a shame the neighborhood loses your free lawn beautification. He may have had cognitive issues or was simply an ornery old man. You are a wonderful, caring man. Any neighborhood is lucky to have you.
Every neighborhood has one guy like this
Probably!! 👍👍👋
Yep... Mr. Reinglass (from my childhood)
You were NOT WRONG! You did what you ALWAYS DO. Help your Neighbors ❤
Witness what. Ate. You teorzjg. The. Hood. Nothing
You handled that very well. You graciously left and the suitation settled down. It was a shame you couldn't finish the job, you were making it so much better. But, humility and grace won through. You ought to be commended on your calm and wise handling of a difficult situation.
Keep making this world a better place. Things happen we can't explain. You handled it well.
he came from the back yard of that house. don't know if he came from another direction, but I just slowed it down, and saw that. it is a shame in the world we live in today that we have to fear our lives when trying to help out our neighbors in their area. Keep up your generosity and kindness. i thoroughly enjoy your videos. You have a beautiful soul.
And he waited until all the walkways and sidewalks were cleared, and the lawn was cut, before he walked over to bully the good samaritan.
He was just an angry old man. Possibly with dementia. You were respectful but you can’t know what he might have done if you had stayed. You’re helping your community by this kind of work. You help a lot of people. Thanks for your service. 👍👍🙂
"I wish he would have told me before I did all the edging" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
You are a blessing..did nothing wrong. Your heart is too big for that old man..
Perfect example of someone with mental health issues. Please don’t let him deter you from doing the wonderful job you do for those who need help. We that watch and respect the work you do. God bless you and your family. 🙏🙏🙏💜💜💜
Would you feel better if he had served tea and cake when telling a trespasser to leave?

Hi mate, I couldn’t see anything wrong in what you were doing, helping the community out getting rid of the messy yard .God bless you for what you do, keep up the good work
You Left It In Better Condition Then You Found It!!!! Good Job!!!! The Man Definitely Has Issues!!!!
Hey Brian, You be VERY CAREFUL🙏🏿 Mental Health IS REAL & HAPPENING NOW
You are a great man helping others, don’t let one bad encounter discourage you. You just never know what makes a person tick. Use your intuition, if you get bad vibes then leave. Thanks for your kindness and hard work.
😊👋👍 Definitely good advice! Thank you
You were at the right place to help! This person was not, and obviously very, very mentally disturb; real crazy. Personally I would have asked the neighbors on the other side of the street to know if they knew him. It's pitiful, and sad. What you do to help others is so nice. ♥
You were very gracious and respectful. Well done.
NO YOU ARE NORMAL! I get sick of seeing those lots also. At least they could maintain the sidewalks and curbs.
Is this indivudal the owner or a crackpot? He should be thanking you for doing the sidewalks and gutters.
Definitely! I hear from people all over the world around here, I know some cities, states, countries, providences, etc. take care of these things, but around here they always seem to be let go!
I have seen so many abandoned homes and lots that could become housing for he homeless that it is sad to see them falling into disrepair.
Folks with dementia often go the nasty way trying to express their issues. It’s not you! Sorry you had this creepy encounter! Carry on
People are so crazy these days. He could pull a gun out. God bless you!
Yes! So thankful he did not do that! Blessings to you, Maureen 👋👋😊
I don’t think that old man has dementia. I think he’s just a hate filled individual who probably watches and listens to people on the Internet / radio that he shouldn’t be that are corrupting his mind.. of course that horrible individual is in the wrong.
Bless your Heart, you avoided a bigger problem with that crazy man
Hats off to you! You have such endurance to clean that lot, and patience with a perhaps dementia senior citizen.
I am so, so sorry, Brian. I feel the need to apologize for my fellow human…You are not EVER wrong for volunteering your time & the use of your equipment to clean up vacant properties in your community. I feel horrible that this man violated your rights as an American citizen who enjoys giving back & paying it forward. Blessings to you, kind Sir. And thank you for handling a horrible situation with such grace. Carry on, we all enjoy your videos & your kindness soooo much!❤
Wow! It was kind of you to start working on this property Brian. You are always helping people out. Not sure what this neighbor was about but you were respectful and left the property to not further the encounter. Great job as always
You’re a good man. Doing all this with no expectations of compensation
You r so very normal. We learned in the Air Force to reach out to others, an ya don't need thanks, just the

Thank you for all your kindness for all those who do appreciate your help. There are a lot of hateful people out there. Just don't it discourage you from helping others. May God richley bless you and your family
Thank you so much Betty! 😊☺️👋👋Blessings to you
It was very obvious that the gentleman had some mental issues, whether it be age-related, dementia or some other chemical imbalance. You handle them very well and you were very kind and respectful. And that's the important thing. Thank you for trying to help the neighborhood and I hope that somebody is able to reach out to that man and give him the help that he needs
You left out one problem the old man had for a fact, while listing several problems he possibly has. He doesn't listen to explanations from trespassers.
You do amazing work for so many. Don’t let this derail your ministry. Shake the dust off your feet and move on to someone who will appreciate it.😎🙏🏾
You did the right thing to leave. He has mental issues. We love watching you. You have a good heart. Is your helper still with you? We enjoy you both!❤
Wow! Old man probably has dementia, he is off his rocker! He doesn’t own the city side walks or the easement. You still get an A+ for what you were able to accomplish!🙂
Really how did you figure that out?
You have zero idea what an easement is. By definition it is access to property, sometimes even the sidewalk is on private property, under easement, not ownership of the property. If that lot belonged to the old man, the easement does too. A verge is the area between the sidewalk and curb, and usually , but not always is owned by the city. In almost every city in the country, the property owner is still responsible for maintaining the area.
I was frightened for you. That man was, is dangerous. Thank you for not engaging with him and simply leaving.
He is not dangerous. Where is your compassion. He is a danger to himself. People like you can do the wrong thing with disastrous consequences for him. I spent many years looking after people who were mentally fragile.
He's dangerous!
I am glad you are safe, keep your head up and continue to do the work you do, it brings smiles to more people than you realize, this guy needs more than a mowed corner lot near him.
I can understand why you feel shaken! It's not everyday when someone approaches a stranger, never mind well-meaning one, in a threatening manner. I probably would have chosen to call the police, if only to throw some water on his fire. It's possible they're well-acquainted with him from other incidents.
I don't know you, Mr Good-Deed Doer, but take a deep breath, and know, for whatever reason, not everybody can express or feel gratitude. It's not anything you did wrong. God bless you!
Don't let him upset you , obviously the man has a big problem , probably dementia or who knows what . What you do is remarkable and we all enjoy your kindness to help all these people . God bless you you are a good man . ❤❤❤
So sorry this happened. You are so good to help people. You might consider calling DSS, Adult services, to do a safety check for him. Bless all.
I agree w/many of your followers. You handled the situation respectfully & kept yourself safe. Continue doing your good deeds for those that need it. You are a blessing.
That was really sad. You do great work and is needed. Keep up the great work.
You have a kind heart! You were doing good. There is no excuse for his foul mouth and ill temper. Snarky me would go to the city, get a permit, and have a policeman show up with me to keep the old man under control and finish the job. 🤣My hubby is 81 and a sweetheart so using old age as an excuse doesn't work with me. Keep up the good fight!
I agree.
People who project onto you are usually the ones that are doing what they're projecting on to you.
For him to be so angry and to call you a terrorist makes me wonder what he's hiding.
You are doing a great job Brian; you were in the right, you were all right.
For him to stand there and shout that you were still causing problems when you weren't getting off fast enough just tells me he has something to hide.
Oh boy I totally agree. So glad Brian high tailed it outta there.
@@jodidavis6595 Nah, this joker is just crazy nasty, that looks like a stage of dementia or schizophrenia.
wow, what a one-sided detective you are. Perhaps the old man is reacting based on what has happened to him, unlike the hateful descriptions of him, where are the possible victim, possible PTSD , possible war hero forgotten. Brian is a good guy, but there is not one shred of evidence that the old man isn't a good guy. In his generation you didn't go on someone's property without permission, you know, one of those rights many fought and died to bless you with.
Wow. With you clearing the vacant lot, his yard now became the scourge of the neighborhood.
I'm sorry that you encountered such an angressive angry man when you were just trying to help. You did right leaving for your own protection. Bless you for the owners you help! ❤❤
You absolutlely handled it right. Might consider reporting the incident. You don't know if that person even lives there or is just someone with mental problems loose in the neighborhood. Take care, stay safe & God bless you for all the people you help.
Can you imagine living next door to that guy? How sad for him...I enjoy watching you work. Thanks for your good attitude.
You are a blessing to so many,so you had to go through this 😮.keep blessing others
You sir, are a much better man than I. The elder doesn't realize how blessed he really is.
You weren't in the wrong, Brian! Most people in the neighborhood appreciate when an empty lot is cleaned up, mowed and the sidewalks made safer. Sometimes you run across a person who is just angry with the world. I don't believe he owned the property otherwise I am sure he would have informed you of that fact without hesitation. You did the right thing by leaving, Brian and not allowing things to get out of hand and possibly having a gun or knife drawn by this gentleman. He definitely has problems of some sort or he is just a mean and unhappy man. You did the right thing by not adding to his anger so don't worry what some people say in the comments. To call you a coward is just plain ridiculous! Those people making comments like that are ones who would be combative in situations like that and only make matters worse. Enjoy your videos very much, Brian.
Agreed, but I would not exactly call the fellow a "gentleman!"
Sorry for you Brian. That man has a problem not you. Keep doing what you're doing. God bless you for the work you do. Im'm sure 99% of people are grateful for the work you do.
You’re right Brian, you don’t know what he could do. He was suffering from something. I knew that you would be polite like you always are. I’m so sorry that you got so frazzled No doubt that he was kind of scary and I would be scared too. You hear stories that people with dementia have killed people. You definitely did the right thing by leaving before something happened to you or your equipment. Thank you for being so very kind.😊
You are a great caring man. Wonderful partial project. He is mentally ill. You did what was best for your safety.
I suppose you have to be understanding with older people, because they may have woken up badly and the noise of the machines may have made them nervous. It was a nice touch to get off the machine while you were talking to him to get on his level so he wouldn't feel intimidated. After all, you do this job for "pleasure" and not to anger anyone, so you have to enjoy, not suffer.
Definitely. Not my intention to upset anybody. At least I got it halfway nicer! Have a great weekend, Maria! ☺️😊👋👋
