Been absolutely loving your reviews of this LM and you've inspired me to get one of my own. Looking forward to finally getting a simulator set up as the season starts to slow down.
Even if it made great financial sense, I absolutely despise the idea of micro transactions. Give me GSPro at a single cost per year and I'm good to go.
@@CM-qm8qn no one plays 18 holes a day every day, every year. Regardless if somehow they did (they don’t) that’s still cheaper than most subscriptions.. on top of that you don’t have to pay to unlock it for 3rd parties at all. So there’s 200-300 in savings a year right there compared to all the other monitors you have to pay to unlock😊
Thank you for the review, Joe. This is an unbeatable price point for an amateur golfer looking to get some good data and/or keep their swing sharp during the off season or a bout of bad weather. I was all in on the Garmin R10, but I think the Square LM will start absorbing some of that market share. I would opt for GSPro versus the credit system though. That's not really a contest.
Hahahah 😂 it's the little things.. I just don't like it lol. You already get the "ready" call to let you know and also if you see the chipping and putting there is just an overlay in the bottom left hand corner 👍👍 that is good.

I think the uneekor and gc3 are more accurate, but they gouge the customer so much for some simple Android cameras and supporting software. Not to mention the subscription prices. Square isn't "better" but it's an insanely better value. Like 5% accuracy loss for a 90% discounted price.
Hi Jon very informative video as usual, really digging this device, and the thing with points to play courses, and thereby supporting more courses and maybe better range, is a good idea and way more sensible than the rapsodo, and look at the graphics compared to mlm2 pro, they are worlds apart
The smartest thing the Square LM company has done is, do away with subscription fees! Even if you plan on using third party software(obviously you have to pay GSPro their fees to use it). That’s a huge change in the sim golf world!
The good thing about Square pioneering this model is that it's going to put pressure on these companies with expensive hardware and subscriptions. If Square is only say 5 or 10% less accurate but is 80% cheaper for the initial investment, this is going to appeal to the masses already. Then without subscription fees? I just ordered an EML last week because I'm impatient and don't want to wait for longer term reviews of Square. I'm hoping the Square model helps me in the end with reduced subscription costs.

Thanks Joe. Excited to see the final review. Did you figure out a way to compare it to another LM? There is all this stuff online about two camera units interfering with each other that apparently the square is very sensitive to. Thanks for all of your great reviews.
Did you go to settings and select distance ball ? which adds 5%-10% on distance which is more what people get with their distance. square company is updating the square for closer distance numbers. Near future update will have all the numbers and data on one graphic.
It would be interesting to see/have a comparison between the Mevo+ and the Square. I just purchased the Mevo+ several months ago before the Square was available and I'm wondering how they compare. I assume that the Square would be superior in most metrics but perhaps the Mevo+ might offer a few more specifics. Would love to see what you think.
33:30 misread putt was probably due to the ball being outside of the ideal hitting zone in the lower left? I'm assuming light grey is where the ball should be, and the black is technically outside the zone. It being on the front also didn't help; probably not enough time/data for the unit.
This is a significant advancement in the affordable launch monitor market. I was wondering if you could use your TP5x golf balls and add some dots to them, or perhaps use a different type of ball that other photometric monitors use. It might be worth testing, as I see that as one of the biggest drawbacks of this device.
I just filmed a video with some dots from rapsodoballdots.com that are designed for this unit. I’ll be doing a bit more testing with them in the future as well 👍

How much do the balls cost? If the unit is as good as it seems then there will be quite a big market for it so they should collaborate with Titleist and other major ball companies to make compatible versions of their ball like Rapsodo has. Hopefully this device will force Rapsodo to reduce the price of their yearly subscription. The Rapsodo is fine for regular play but having native putting ability without using the webcam putting connector makes the square the perfect device for the average sim golfer.
@Joe - any insights into the credit system for unused holes on a 9 or 18 hole match? Does it tally the holes played against your credits or does it automatically debit the full 9 or 18 credits if you select a 9 hole or 18 hole course?
it is all hole by hole so you can select 18 holes if you play three. It’ll only deduct three credits if you’re playing by yourself if you’re playing with a friend and you play three holes because there’s two of you it will be six credits.
