Just a note on the bluetooth dissconecting if you are on Windows, and also on the 'ball ready' but shot does not register issue. I tried all sorts of things as this was happening in GSPro fairly often, what sorted it was going to the advanced power settings and disabling the 'USB selective suspend' setting, and also changing the 'wireless Adapter Setting/power saving mode' to 'maximum performance'. I have not had any issues since with either issue.
Joe great video, I think the Square is going to be the low end LM winner and that Titleist will bring out a pro v1 Square marked golf ball, because there will be so many people owning it. Keep them coming.
Thanks for the videos and the format of this one, I think it’s a cool idea. I appreciate the advice, I went back to the start and thought about exactly why I went down this rabbit hole to begin with. My number one reason was to be able to play golf, on a sim or in real life. This led me to the Square. I love it.
Bought square couple of weeks ago to be able to hit balls and get feedback ovet uk winter. it's really good for feedback. Not sure if most accurate but gives a baseline to work from. Well worth the money.
A lot of good answers through that, great idea. I think I couldn’t explain my issue properly, Triplebogey golf had the same issue I saw last night. You put it in the hitting Square, green light, ding to say it’s in, no shot. Do it again, check connector. Both LM and Gastro still connected, no shot registered. You can hit 10 and it won’t read. You have to turn it off and on to get it to start reading again. I hope that makes sense? Is this something I need to report to Square or GSpro instead of asking yourself 😂
16:32 i find the square very sensitive to natural light. My square is indoors but faces a window. Even if it’s cloudy out, I get interference. So, for garage guy.. do not face your square at the open garage door.
I got to try one of these yesterday. The build of the unit is staggering low quality! It reminded me of an old 70's radio my dad used to have. Flimsy and cheap. Think how this thing will perform in a few years time, given the inevitable knocks and bumps it'll get over that time. Don't waste your money.
Thanks for answering my question Joe. Great idea for a video doing a Q&A. Way to scare me on the GSPro potentially charging though haha. Now we just need Bayside :) Sam if you need any other AU advocates let me know ;)
Joe! As always, extremely helpful...a few questions - I haven't seen these asked yet, from what I've found: 1. I'm a GSPro user. If I only want to use that software with the Square, is the purchase of credits from Square (or any additional cost) involved, or can I just connect GSPro to the Square and swing away? I don't think I'd end up playing course on Square native software, possibly just using their range, but likely sticking with GSPro for range as well. 2. Putting with Square: I've been using the R10/putting cam method for about a year. Is the putt reading on the Square consistently reliable without having to really dial in your putt settings? Currently, I have my putting area to the side of my main teebox, so I'm curious how putting works off the same surface as irons/etc. Does the putt need to travel a certain distance in order to read like it does with the R10 putting plug-in? Thanks a lot!
Another great video Joe. If you are in touch with square folks can you let them know that there are still some issues after the new update that it would be great if they could address with another firmware update. Distances and ballspeed seem lower than pre update. Some club data is now missing (AOA). Also, it doesn’t seem as effective in estimating spin in unmarked balls. Thanks!
Thanks for all the great content Joe, these videos are a great help for those of us starting a home sim. Question: if you had the budget to increase do you think a used GC2 would be worth it over the square or do you think it’s better to go with the newer supported tech. I plan on only using it for an indoor sim and will have gs pro.
I can get both lights to work on the connector to go green but the ready light on GSPRO stays red. I can play it but the button stays red. Do u know what I’m doing wrong ?!
Looking forward to your review of the latest Square firmware and software updates. I installed them, but I didn't notice much of a change with my 72 YO swing speed :). One request though. Could you have a video using only the Square software? I'm only using the Square software since my laptop & iPad cannot run GSPro. It seems everyone on TH-cam is using the Square LM with the GSPro software. I realize the Square course play has limited options & I plan to send them email with my suggestions (replace "ball ready" process with rect. box like on the driving range, selectable holes, use mini map to find yardage to hazards etc, adjust weather conditions, adjust mulligans, save partial round to continue later ...). Thanks!!
Woukd you say the square is better value than the mlm2pro? From everything i have seen the mlm2pro is incredibly accurate to top line monitors. I havent seen that with square reviews. Also mh longer term plan is to use e6. Does square have e6 capability?
I am looking to make a purchase of the square golf launch monitor and wondered if anyone could help me with the following queries about current limitations in the Square Golf software: • Are users able to 'build their bag' for use on the range, nearest the pin and course and select their set make-up, club names and lofts? For example, my set make-up consists of Driver, 1 Iron, 3 iron, 4 iron etc. at the top of the bag rather than Driver, 3 Wood, 5 Wood, 7 Wood etc. currently built into the software from what l've seen. Am I missing something with how they are edited or is this currently not a feature? • With the club data stickers on the shafts, l assume these work on some estimation of static club loft and then deduct or add loft based on the position of the sticker relative to the ball impact position to estimate dynamic loft. Can static lofts for clubs can be input in the bag settings, to make the dynamic loft estimation more accurate? • Are you able to store and track the data of individual clubs to track gapping/yardages and other data for each club and give averages over different lengths of time? E.g. last /3 months/1 month/last week/last session etc.?
It’s hard to say. In 6 months when all updates are done I think this unit will meet the expectations of the EML (minus the ball impact camera). Eye mini lite doesn’t calculate face angle but the square does which is also a plus. I think the EML sales are gonna drop with this unit being out which is why they are discounting the price so much. If the EML removed the subscription fee for third party apps, included face angle then I think the justification could be there due to the impact camera at the $1000 difference
I was on the fence between the Square, EML, Skytrak & Skytrak+, & the BLP. For me, I want to enjoy playing golf indoors in a climate controlled environment. My budget is to try and stay under $6,000, and I wanted putting and chipping too. The Square checked all the boxes and runs on my current iPad and comes with 10 courses already. I got is a few days ago and feel like I made the right choice with the Square.
Has anyone been reviewing the saved data? It gives the averages per club of a session but the data is incomplete. Ball speed is completely wrong and it doesn’t say whether the side spin is left or right. This is like a poor man’s awesome golf if they can get it right.
I’ve been trying to straighten out my driver. Been hitting a bit of a slice. Would the spin axis show this accurately so I can improve in the off season?
I'm in my shed with my square with the shed door open and even lights on at night and it works fine.... Bluetooth has been perfect for me. Have a PCI wifi/bluetooth card in the computer with 2 external antennas (have let Joe know about this privately) The Square is setup about 2 metres from the computer. I would avoid using a dongle. They are crap quality at best. the model I have is the Asus AX3000. How to install them can be seen here it's easy enough to do. th-cam.com/video/ht8BKRQVqIw/w-d-xo.html

Really glad I changed to the square, after using Gspro with it today was really impressed 👍

Thanks for that feedback 👍👍 I really appreciate that

Really happy with mine so far
Prov1s now come with dotted balls for rapsodo. Would be interested to see if they work well with square.
Different pattern so it wouldn’t work

Underrated channel this ❤
Joe , thank you so much. Keep them coming.

Hopefully Australian distribution soon!
Would using stickers on the ball be any different?
Hi Frank,
We have been selected as the Australian distributor. Square is available to order now, and will be delivered in approx two weeks
I can get both lights to work on the connector to go green but the ready light on GSPRO stays red. I can play it but the button stays red. Do u know what I’m doing wrong ?!

Anyone know if they have a chopping practice area? Or do you have to use a credit and be on a course? Thanks
I feel like the square app/program is pretty good as a free software. I think if you want bag mapping and matrix then to pay the gs pro subscription
Can you just make the same dots on other balls? Like same pattern etc
how much distance do you need from hitting spot to impact screen with the square to read the ball?
I am looking to make a purchase of the square golf launch monitor and wondered if anyone could help me with the following queries about current limitations in the Square Golf software:

In your opinion. Does the square compare favourably to the Eye Mini light or is the extra 1K (given sales at moment) worth it for the EML?

Price aside, would you get a square or uneekor EML?
EML is far superior
Could you draw the same dot pattern on a different ball?
I tried this on regular balls. It works most of the time. It will miss a few (where the special balls don’t) but fairly solid for the most part.
I’ve been trying to straighten out my driver. Been hitting a bit of a slice. Would the spin axis show this accurately so I can improve in the off season?
The square is the LM that Garmin should have made. The R50 doesn't make sense, and I can't see it selling well.
Funny isn't it... I would have thought the same.. a cheaper side based photometric launch monitor would have been what Garmin made.
I'm in my shed with my square with the shed door open and even lights on at night and it works fine....

That's fantastic mate and yes thankyou I am going to be getting one of these! 👍👍
So you'd say that indirect sunlight doesn't interfere?
i think theres a spin update already, Joe lasco put a video on it couple hours ago
