Best LM review/content on TH-cam! Appreciate your methodical approach to testing LMs. I trust your content more than anyone else's when making decisions.
Thanks for the reviews Joe. I have had the r10 for the last year or so and feel like I have just gotten my setup (mostly) optimized to get the most out of it. But the ghost shots at times on short chips and the webcam putting can be so frustrating … would u recommend this over the r10 where it stands now? This just appears so much smoother and like a better sim experience…!I know they’ll continue to update. And is it hard to switch launch monitors in terms of the process of switching it over(if that makes sense) ? That’s another thing that I’ve been holding back on.
Bought square two weeks ago. Not used much as finishing enclosure. From what i experienced looks good for my needs. Hitting balls over closed season it is excellent.
Looking forward to your review of the latest Square firmware and software updates. One request though. Could you have a video using only the Square software? I'm only using the Square software since my laptop & iPad cannot run GSPro. It seems everyone on TH-cam is using the Square LM with the GSPro software. I realize the Square course play has limited options & I plan to send them email with my suggestions (replace "ball ready" process with rect. box like on the driving range, selectable holes, use mini map to find yardage to hazards etc, adjust weather conditions, adjust mulligans, save partial round to continue later ...). Thanks!!
I haven't yet but I have tried the pix balls and they do give estimated spin and spin axis that isn't great. I'll do a video on it but it's very similar to the r10. Cheers
Thanks for all this great content in SimGolf topics!! I loved how you explained the disadvantages of the TrackMan and also how the raw data is used in GsPro. If s/o is blaiming you for taking these misread mulligans I don’t know what to say.
agree 100% on the dot stickers... I bought a 36 pack and they need to base it off the more spaced out dots. Having said that, I've found the unit still reads the ball even when the stickers are degraded (only issue is, in its current format where they are spaced tightly, it does leave the sticky residue on the club face)
Joe Blue tees don’t give any trouble off the tee, please test. Also make sure you don’t have another ball near the front and cameras. In about 2 months I have seen a lot of little quirks! Can I send you one for f my stands and cover for it?
A series of reviews has been really helpful. I just found out yesterday that this device is optimized for 2-piece Square Soft balls. When I used the Saintnine 3-piece ball, I also experienced severe errors with ball speeds over 150 mph. They’ll probably fix the errors soon. Until then, I’ll stick to using 2-piece balls +10% option
Yeah fingers crossed! The company is definitely aware of it as they have watched all my videos and have also seen the same thing. They are going to come out with a fix hopefully this or next week to try and improve it 👍👍
Hey Joe last year I bought a rapsodo mlm2 pro bc of your videos and the more I watch about this square the more I want it instead of the rapsodo. What is your input on that. Should I keep the rapsodo or get the square lm
That's the Brainbox! I love it... Make sure you get the Joe Lagowski Golf edition 👍👍 cascadia3dpd.com/product/brain-box-golf-simulator-control-box-for-gspro/
Interesting that yours spins more - just saw a few comparisons online where folks show lower spin across the board with Square balls. Far from perfect but for $700... I mean, that value is pretty unbeatable. Likely need to spend 3x that much for the next step up and maybe 9-10x for truly reliable spin axis.
This is fantastic! I have just got my Square, set it up and it’s unreal! I have come from Garmin R10 and this is a different game! Easiest set up, 1000x easier to get accuracy. No miss reads ghost shots nothing. Putting is next level, hitting into the world so instant is epic! Appreciate the videos as I have watched most of your videos. Legend! Also is there a protection cage for these yet? And what hitting Mat have you got and how do you stop it sliding. Happy sim golfing
Hey Bryce thanks for the kind words mate! Yeah this little unit is incredible. It does have somespin issues at the moment but they are being addressed apparently in an update that will drop very soon. I have just received a package today from one of my subscribers that has a protective case that I will do a video on very soon 👍👍
@ yeah I look forward to that as I feel that is extremely close to making this unit a top notch launch monitor. Fantastic! I get in there with the kids and the old toe nick has got close from one of them 😂 Thanks again!
Hey Joe an interesting experiment would be using the square metalic tape on your clubs and use RPT balls and MLM2Pro. If the numbers compare well we may not even have to use the square balls?
Awesome video! Thank you Joe. I currently have the MLM2PRO and have ordered the SQUARE LM. Waiting to receive it (back ordered). I am anxious to start playing SIM golf with SQUARE. Based on a few reviews from others, it does appear you need the Bluetooth dongle with cable extension similar to what we have to do for the MLM2PRO. I also ordered the SQUARE ball dots. Curious how that will work seeing how it did not fare well for me with MLM2PRO ball dots. Thank you again for all you do!
It might be possible to compare with a mevo+ , yes mevo + is not the best for indoors but most say good enough with Metallic dots or RCT balls and its better than no direct comparison at all. Matching patterns on the ball for SG might be possible. Even if just club data is compared it might be worth it. If the SG unit does not interfere with the radar.
Very cool and playing for fun the miss reads wont matter but on tour play that would be annoying...Can you play a round with a normal tee or birtee style. I'm.thinking those bulky tees might be an issue?
Would you recommend a uneekor EML over this even though this so much cheaper? I’m between the two and if this is a good monitor, saving the money would be better. Thanks!
Hey mate the spotlight is there just so I can make my room as dark as possible so the projected image looks the best it can while still being able to see the ball 👍👍
@@JLagGOLF that is exactly what I want, I’ll look for a spotlight. Can you send me a picture of the Square Unit from the view of the golf ball. You have something else that I would like to see that you are using to move the aiming of your putt.
When you played hole 13, the unit had a significant misread. The club selected was driver, but you used a 4 wood. Does that make a difference potentially resulting in the initial misread??
No absolutely not the actual club selected doesn't have any influence on the data because the unit is actually reading and calculating the dats. The club selected only matters for post round data collection.
Is it still paired in the old devices to your original bluetooth receivers? I can see that being the issue even after the connector is updated, it might still have a corrupted connection to your first bluetooth receivers.
is there a way to save game part way through a round in gspro?..ive looked and see nothing , there is a 2 year old video showing it on old gspro software
Love your videos, Joe‼️ Could you test to see IF the swingstick works w/ GSPro⁉️ I can only use the swingstick for the next 6 months due to space restriction…I just couldn’t wait to buy the Square😁 Thanks in advance.
The eye mini is amazing at putting... Honestly it for me is one of the best things about the unit. Incredibly the square is on par with it. The ball speeds feel almost identical.. I haven't had to change my feels between the eye mini, square, or protee vx. HLA seems incredibly good with the square as well.
Hello, like your channel and interested in the Square golf unit. I know it's not an outdoor unit but do you think it would work under a patio with no direct sunlight? I have emailed square golf and just got back the same info written on there website.
Hey Jason it's a tough one mate I will try take it out on the weekend and give it a go and see if it works but I wouldn't recommend it as they are saying it's indoor only. This does say home edition on the box so you never know we could get a different version of this LM that is say outdoor edition.. just speculating.
My computer did not have Bluetooth 4.0 or better. My laptop wouldn’t find, but gamer would. Added a dongle in the side of my computer worked perfectly. I have never had disconnects or misreads not my fault in 2 months of use. No buyers remorse here for sure!
I don't like saying it because I know there will be a lot of hate but it's the truth. Trackman requires such specific lighting to then capture the point on the face where you’ve hit the ball using the camera which is placed behind the club head.... so it’s not the best angle to then add the algorithm which will then give you the right spin axis. This is always going to be open to flaws and errors and that’s exactly why track man have made the new IO version. Anyone who can’t see that needs to look at it from a logical point of view.
You still need to make a RPT/Square ball. I think the IR flash from the MLM2PRO won't interfere with the Square because it's coming from a different angle. I'll test again, once they release the next firmware for Square. Getting cold here, 6c in the Garage SIM area. :-0
Really considering selling SkyTrak and buy this. Think that’s a good idea? I am looking for the club data and can likely sell mine for what this is selling for.
It all depends on the situation you're in and the budget you have. I did a video explaining this and the decision process you should follow when considering a launch monitor. I'll link it below for you... First off is budget. If you don't have a big budget and want a unit that is indoors only to give you a simulator experience then yes this ticks pretty much every box 👍 th-cam.com/video/TYUG_GxUl80/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Dy68mkF9CrNXIvUb
If you're looking for an indoor unit only then yes this is probably going to make the most sense now 👍👍 if you still need the flexibility to have a unit that can go outdoors as well as indoors then the mlm2pro is still a great option.
Yes there was! I don't think there is that many when you actually use the data viewer in the square golf application. It seems pretty solid in there. I'll do a video showing that off 👍👍
IMO the eye mini is not worth the extra money and you have to pay a ridiculous subscription fee to use it and them pay again for 3rd party. If they get the spin better this unit will crush the gouging competition with their pricing. We can see with mlm and square decent data can be had sub 1000 dollars. What are these other companies pulling asking 5k plus. It's a joke.
@@AM-mk6pkthat is wrong. You need the pro package from Uneekor which is $199/year to unlock the third-party connector. Gspro is $250/year no matter which way you go. With Square you don't have to pay anything except the $250 to GSPro
Love it! Yeah this little thing is pretty impressive mate.. hopefully coming to AUS soon as well 🤞🤞 There is an update coming very soon that is going to address spin and spin axis apparently
Thanks mate! You would be surprised 😂😂 a lot of people get blinded with buyers remorse and don't like anything critical said about their launch monitor. They don't want to hear the truth
@@JLagGOLFSo true! 😂...Reading some comments on certain Facebook groups and there's definitely a few folks who don't take kindly to their Launch Monitor's accuracy being questioned!
That is so sad… Regarding the spin axis on Trackman is absolutely agree with you, once in a while on TM4 I get these crazy spin axis reads that just sails off by 50-60 meters - that is not something I recognize from outdoor play. Another thing I believe TM gets wrong are healy shots, my miss hit, with woods. I have hit lots of those shots and never have I seen snap hooks off the heal in real play but TM ignores the gear effect and will give a ball flight corresponding to a o-i path with a closed(-to path) face, hence a double cross for a fader like me - super annoying
So conclusion: If you are looking for a budget solution then sim play is excellent with Square and for the training sequences buy a Rapsode (because of accuracy)...
Pretty good conclusion there! Lol nail on the head. There is a firmware update coming out in the next few days for the square so hopefully the square will be able to do both 👍
