I am so happy for all the positive attention fasting is getting nowadays! I started experimenting with 18h fast, 6h eating back in March 2019, just to experience it. I was committed to do it for 3months, ending up doing it for 15months straight, I absolutely loved it. Fat loss, time saving, increased focus, bloodwork, gut health++. I usually worked out at the eat of the 18h fast, without any food prior. I honestly felt great, surely I still had glucogen storage from the huge meals from the day before. After the 15months I've gone back to 4meals a day spread out, with 24-70h fasts about once every other week, just for the health benefits, insulin resistance etc.
Speaking of visceral fat, there are certain guys who I suspect may be carrying piles of it, who even have visible abbs. I suspect it’s one of the main reasons for bubble gut in bodybuilding, and even though Eddy has lost weight his midsection is still enormous. Sure he has massive hips and very blocky well developed muscular abbs but it’s a permanent bloated gut that has to be from visceral fat.
New sub, I like your content, very funny and straight to the point I like your fucking style. Motivated me to get stronger and get into strong man, always dabbling.
Great, informative video as always Shane. Quick question, I train at 6am and usually have breakfast before training. Would you suggest training fasted in this case?
I mean, it does depend on your goal, eating breakfast before training is totally fine but also training fasted at that time you are in a perfect state to train! Just woken up, glycogen should be full from the days eating before hand... if it was me I'd have some caffeine and crack on! And If I wanted to lose bodyfat I'd even wait a little while post training to eat. Think of fasting as a tool you can just use here and there. Doesn't have to be everyday either!
Great video as always. I currently fast up until around 13:00 everyday. I’ve tried to go longer but find I feel pretty groggy/dizzy etc. Do you do this fast everyday of the week or only certain days? I may have missed it in the vid if you did mention it….
It mainly depends on your goal jack. You've got to remember the over arching goal of this video was to put people into a more manageable calorie deficit, managing hormones to keep gherlin at bay. Some people react really well to fasting and feel amazing, others not so much. Basicslly if you want to lose bodyfat and quickly, the the more you fast the less calories you consume the more fat you burn. I wouldn't worry about muscle loss, as long as you're training throughout the week, fasting for 24 hours on a rest day would be fine but as you get leaner and hit your goal weight you might want to just eat normally on rest days and maybe do a long rest day fast every 3 weeks or so to help "maintain". No idea if this is helpful lol
Man... the energy. Must be the fasting, makes you hyper, haha! Enough jokes though. Should I be a little more careful as a natural lifter, and maybe have a shorter fasting window (like eating around lunchtime) so I wont risk a shit load of muscle loss while getting rid of excess fat? Im aiming to get back to 100 kg body weight at the moment, but being less fat than last time. Thanks for the video as always!
There are studies which show fasting is more muscle sparing than lower calorie extended diets. Also extended lower calories diets showed decrease in metabolism where as fasting caused increase in metabolism. This is due to increase GH release and adrenals into the blood stream whilst fasting. So actually for a natural fasting is beneficial 🤙
Great content Shane. I feel this is something I may try but I’ve always been told that having a steady state of protein intake all day is essential? I take it it’s not as important as people say? Also I have a job that’s labour intensive whilst being in a strength block trying to maintain weight. Would I still set out for a later first meal at around 3 like you said or should I bring it back a little to around half 1/2? I train at around half 4. Cheers mate!
Hey conor it would depend a little on your body fat % and what your goal was, your body can breakdown protein from many areas if it really needs it (scar tissue etc) it won't just breakdown your muscle if it needs some. Especially if you're training. In terms of when to break your fast think of it like this, the more time you spend fasted doing your labour intensive work the more direct bodyfst you're burning as fuel, if you feel light headed or weak it could be that you just aren't used to tapping into this so you may need a little adjustment period or maybe you're just getting to lean so need to break your fast earlier. The fatter you are the easier it is to fast! Hope helps a bit although no direct answer lol

Yeah unfortunately a calorie deficit alone doesn't seem to good at lowering fat storage there. A nice extended fast would help him!

Did you ever do a video specifically around visceral fat storage ?
Thanks bro, i fit the same mold as u
Do you mix yogurt and frozen berries with hot cooked cream of rice? Or do like an overnight oats type of thing?
Glad you added the bit about training first as I train at 5 30am. Would you run MST BOT as normal in a calorie deficit?
If i training in the morning will you recommend some eeas before training?
Is the opens video up yet?
Where do you get your cream of rice from? Thanks!
I just use Cardiff sports nutrition but ice heard the JP one is nice!
How would you go about fasting on a rest day? Is that something you normally do ?

“I drank snake juice and ate ass for 5 days” 😂
Anabolic as fuck.
How would you feel about taking a whey isolate in the fasting period, and then swapping the pre workout isolate meal for another form of protein?
I mean you could but then you're not fasting haha, you're losing all the benefits of fasting and just being on a low carb and fat / protein fed state
@@MSTSystems ahhhh, saw Russell orhii ‘fasts’ and uses a shake so was wondering if you still maintained the benefits of it or not
