    Excellent Shane!!!!
This freakin info is very lacking on the TH-cam’s, it’s just now becoming a little more talked about but it’s something I had to figure out myself.
The positional changes I implemented after a strongman comp I did where I had hurt my back on yoke, and I barely broke 200kg off the floor for the deadlift.
I was 50kg lower than the pack, and very disappointed in myself, so I started hanging out with the guy who pulled 280 and I noticed how he pulled.
The dude had long arms and femurs, where I have very short femurs and normal arms, but the main difference in his pull was he just tore the bar off the ground and used the exact setup Shane take about. The funny thing was at 18 inches I was stronger than him, and so it was clearly not as much of a strength issue as I thought. I actually was stronger on the low bar squat as well.
It took me about two years to get my back to feel comfortable in a semi mong position, I think if anyone else is trying to relearn to pull, do multiple session a week, 3+, of basically 50% for many sets playing around with the form and trying to make your arms as long as possible.
It’s very frustrating that there are so few resources on this in powerlifting publications. It’s all Westside nonsense, if it’s not conjugate it’s special exercises.

this video is an absolute gem, this advice got me from slowly breaking 150 off the floor after a few years training to accelerating 210 over the knee with ease in the space of 8 months

The Dragon 🐲 providing free golden nuggets!!! COULD NOT be better timed as I started doing deficit deads cos my floor speed went to shit but doesn't seem to be progressing and now I have my answer! Thanks mate 🙏🏽

Im one of those explosive guys. But when I deadlift. I have this mental block. I hurt my back and had surgery. I overthink at the bottom and worry about just pulling weight up and putting abrupt pressure on my spine. It's actually kind of crazy. I had a car deadlift about 4 weeks ago. Warming up I couldn't even lift the car we were using. Then when it was time to lift. I told myself in my head this is day just do it. If I get hurt I can rest after I comp. Then I hammered out my first 6 reps. Then started slowing down. I was really happy with it. It's weird training I fear pushing it too much on my back. Then show time. I pull bigger weights and do more reps than I ever have training. Because I'm less cautious.

awesome info mate. Especially the human first athlete next model of addressing the overall movement literacy of the person. I am weak of the floor and struggle to pull 210kgs but can pull a 320Kgs+ just 2 to 4 inches above the floor. I have started doing deficit but something was not right. Then i started to include lot of jumps, sprints and plyometrics and slowly my deadlift is increasing.
Thanks for the awesome info mate

I found that when I first started lifting and tried pulling explosively it pulled me out of position. So I purposely started pulling off the floor slowly to help maintain form to my knees. Now that the form is dialed in I wanna start pulling more explosively, thanks for the tips!

The hamstring and glute contraction I get when I do paused deadlifts are so intense. Tells me im not using those muscles to their full potential when im pulling regularly.

I have to trick myself into waking up by doing something fun or silly for a warm up.
Little bit of mischief or winding someone up has the same effect.

Im Elite at my 54 years old Masters 3 record of 252.5k @ 88k bodyweight, but i've never been coached and this is really helpful. I still dont know what my best stance and set up is after all these years lol, i was a grip n ripper and it got me some records ( British) but i always seemed to get injured in some way on max attempts so i'm more drawn to bottom position set ups now plus with a hook grip, so great info pal!

Cheers for the video Shane, can we please have a video on how you'd help a client with chronic sciatica? How often to stretch, excercises that help and reinforce the affected areas etc. It's driving me insane :')

I had it for nearly a year. The best exercise i used was the Pete Rubish back extensions on the 45 degree back extension. Working from bodyweight for high reps then adding weight slowly on a barbell. I got up to 130k for reps and it cured my sciatica, just do not hyper extend at the top position. If you're like me i was at my wits end with sciatica, tried 101 stretches etc, but the back extensions eventually cured it

I did a few weeks of deficit’s and it’s messed with my technique. I have short arms, so I’m already pulling at a deficit. I wish I realised this sooner 😂

Haha yeah for most people just pulling from the floor is all you need, deficits would be a good strength potential driver

by having a good starting position. If you’re sacrificing starting position for a fast floor speed you’ll have a weak lockout

I’m not sure what that has to do with the information in the video haha, also no one in the video is “rammed” with steroids.
