Well, traditionally it has been taught that there are two systems of food intake regulation: homeostatic (hypothalamic) and hedonic system (dopaminergic midbrain). So, he is alluding to a 3rd system of feeding regulation, rather than 2nd. Still, super interesting.
I’d also suggest to some extent the hedonic dopamine systems is also often about deactivating emotional suppression and distraction strategies to deal with core emotional wounds related to attatchment styles
I believe it would do the opposite. Because the more leptin you have, the less hungry you feel. It’s more of a “don’t feed me anymore” rather than “feed me” hormone. So less fat cells - less leptin - amplified hunger.
I had liposuction on my abdomen and put fat back into breasts without realizing that I have high leptin. Months post surgery my body fat exploded to an unhealthy level of 43%. Not sure what the physiological explanation for that is; however my body compensated for the removal + re-injecting of fat. I never felt more hungry though. Now, I’m working on bringing down my Leptin to hopefully lose the weight and all that body fat. For those wondering, I’m 45F, 162lbs, 43% body fat

@@DaveE99 For sure, all these things are regulated by the mesocortical and mesolimbic pathways.
If someone gets liposuction will they feel less hungry? They will have fewer fat cells sending out 'feed me' signals.

So irregular Leptons can create the bubble guts also? 🤓
