There have been a few reviewers that have gone on my ignore list because of how nonsensical they were about this game. I get that it has glitches and bugs, and it's fine and important to note them, but I don't think many kept perspective that this isn't some studio that has an employee count in the hundreds and a budget larger than some small countries. Some issues are fine when, from everything I've seen, the gameplay and structure and storytelling are so darn good. Like the quest structure, possibly the best I've ever seen. No more putting off the main quest while dragons ravage the land, you've got to stay engaged. Giving it a 7 because lip syncing isn't great is ridiculous.
It'd probably be made worse tbh. AAA industry would slap microtransactions everywhere and deliberately inflate grind. It's best that the game was made without the tentacles of one of the game development giants involved.
I've been playing Greedfall for four days already and I can tell you that it is an AMAZING game. Sure it might not have the smooth gameplay of Assassins Creed Odissey or The Witcher 3 but for sure it has a lot of interesting content in terms of the story's main quests and side quests. The whole political and diplomatic situations DeSarte encounters through the whole game is really interesting and it is so catchy. You just can't stop watching and knowing what is going on with the characters and their motives in the quests. There's this intrigue and mysterious feeling through many of the quests that you just want to keep on going to know more and more about it. Honestly, I hadn't felt this way about an RPG game of this kind since The Witcher 3. What Greedfall proved is that not always the game with millions of dollars budget is necessarily the best game ever. Sometimes, a small studio like Spiders can show that a small team can be able to create amazing games with awesome stories (this is what Greedfall is actually) with much less money. The key to success here is CREATIVITY AND QUALITY over quantity. I really hope they release Greedfall 2 one day.
Gave it a go this weekend, SUPER impressed by it, definitely an underrated game. SO MUCH CONTENT. The quests are very compelling and the gameplay is fun. Playing Technical spec and loving it - beefing up a crazy pistol/rifle to chunk people out or even one shot some enemies is just too much fun.

Yeah, the only enemies that could take a few more hits appeared in very late game, not sure if you beat the game but if you did, you knew which ones I mean. Also some of the Nadaig bosses are pretty resistant to magic.
Skillup is a pretty average reviewer. He only judges games based on how much he enjoyed them and since he plays games for the sake of reviewing them he often hampers his own enjoyment by trying to rush through and do and see everything for the review. Broomstick is much better, gives a good overview of the game and it's mechanics and doesn't let his personal opinion overshadow the information, allowing you to better make your own decisions.
Preordered this game but never finished it when it first came out and now that I’m about to start it over from the beginning several years later and this video was super helpful!
Been wanting to play this game since it came out and now that's free on PS+ I'm just waiting for the next 3 hors for it to download, I'm super stoked and I came here to get a little advice as to what class to play. After watching, I'm 99% going Technical at first, everything about it is my jam and I'll probably work a little bit of Magic in throughout the game. Thanks for the great, spoiler free video!
I started with the magic class and beat everybody down with a mace and ring. After that I used a memory crystal to switch to guns and science. I made about 200 bullets in new serene.
Whilst you can have all classes at late game, going dual-spec as early as possible is probably best - Warrior and Mage would be a great choice (which is what ill be going down), but your choice of dual-spec is up to you. With a warrior and mage dual-spec, you can slam your enemies with a sword, mace etc then retreat and finish them off with a spell - and not to mention, going dual-spec with a mage allows you to save on potions
Mage science, you craft mana potion stand in one spot and spam While kurt tank, it's boring but stupidly effective since magic just pop right through armor.
4:10 I think what im going to pick is, Techical Kind'a reminds me of.. Fable, Assassins Creed, and maybe Mortal Kombat mixed in one game... So cool, looks amazing, GreedFall
Love the video. Very informative without a ton of unnecessary information or commentary. It gets straight to the point. My only problem with the video is how monotone you sound.
MAge class is overpowered tbh. Attacks ignore armor and with magic potions u can do unlimited attacks. Potions cost 10 coins at most if u have max charsima. U also dont need endurance for armor because u can do range attacks. At level 10 u can get 2nd best rings from black island just lying aroun near north. What i mean is u dont need to destroy armor of enemies and u can just go for kill and use dash ability to stay out of combat and let ur companions keep enemy busy while ur magic recharge. Game becomes too ez at normal difficulty at around level 20 when u have best ring and best neck item.
Shehroz Jehangir yep. But high end weapons can rip off armor in like 2-3 hits and hit much harder than magic rings outside of storm and stasis debuffs. I feel it should only ignore 50-75% armor and only fury fully pierces. But since it’s not really competitive i don’t feel too strongly about it. I’m playing it on hard near lvl 30 and already nothing survives storm and 3x shadow burst unless it’s a mini boss.
After playing full magic I'd recommend not going magic. It's so boring. 95% of the time you just spam the basic attack and being out of mana in 2 seconds.
Been thinking about getting the game and after this video you got a subscriber. Thanks for explaining the classes so well. Can’t wait to see the rest of your videos 👍
Dude, I think you have the potential to replace the late TotalBiscuit in terms of Pro-consumer reviewers on youtube. Your style is very different from his and I wouldn't have it any other way because everyone should inject their own personality into their videos, but I can tell you have the same level of passion he did. Good to see there are still reviewers out there that haven't abandoned their principles. Godspeed.
@@MorrisseyMuse TotalBiscuit had his flaws. He was temperamental and sometimes acted hypocritically, but I don't see how we was anti-consumer. Why do you think that?
I have just started play the game today and I decided to play as technical for my first playthrough mainly because magic has always been an obvious "easy" cool class I would go first in rpg and I thought to change that in greedfall. Like 'it'd be cool to focus on lock pick, put traps, then bang bang and go slash slash like a thief getting caught off while breaking into a house' XD Warrior? Not really a fan of heavy armor/melee. Now watching this, I'm glad I chose technical. The class combat is really cool 😆
But can you avoid using melee on technical and just use pistols/traps/bombs? It looked to me like you would have to use sword or other melee weapon while playing technical
@@jennycrossdress8500 You could focus solely on pistol if you have ridiculous amount of ammo in your inventory. Melee is just to *compensate* that. Right now I'm using all, the melee, pistol and magic. Pistol to break the armor, magic to hurt the monsters that are weak to magic resistance or when I want to save the ammo to hit the boss from far and melee to give the big damage hit. So it depends on your playstyle on however you want to. Also I'd like to add, you would still use melee even if you go as magic caster since the mana depletes so fast Edit: about the trap and bomb, for now I rarely use them because I haven't unlock craftsmanship talent so I'm saving them for difficult fights
Finally a quick overview of the classes. I've watched at least 5 videos about Greedfall and non focused on the classes available. This definitely makes me want to buy the game!
Went Technical because I love poisons and dots. Ended up dealing more with guns because of how broken they are. Crafting ammo is super cheap and you can make a ton very easily. I ended up with a gun with 3 barrels that was sniping enemies at range for their entire health bar with 1 shot.
You really do excellent analysis and reviews. I see why that IGN reviewer copied your homework. My only slight criticism would be to speak a little less mono tone but the substance of your analysis is top quality. I was intrigued by this game but had no idea if it would be any good or not, but your recommendation is good enough for me. 👌
Boomstick Gaming Also loved your review (thanks, btw!), but I don’t believe this has anything to do with your voice. It’s about your interpretation. Think of your review as an acting class: there must be ups and downs, dramatic pauses, exciting crescendos, etc... Of course, all done in a subtle way, in order to avoid your video becoming “silly”. As it is right now, your interpretation “feels” like a flat line. Very little emotion in it. Again, nothing major, and most people won’t be bothered by it, but perhaps something you may consider working on, if you feel so inclined. Keep up the great work, mate :)
Lol... Can't the dude just be awesome at gaming, having elevated understanding of game mechanics and systems, writing, video storyboard, video content creating,... Without him also having to be a professional voice actor?
@@zoeminister Lol I don't believe anyone here is expecting him to win an Oscar or something of the sorts. But yeah, since he does takes his TH-cam channel seriously, he should always look for ways to improve it. Working on how he presents vocally his material is one of them. No need to white knight for him or anything. Everybody here agrees that his content is great. Just personal friendly tips for him to possibly improve it even further.
@@TheDessel said perfectly how I would of said it. And u are on point. He can do with a little emotion, and no one here is bashing him for not because his vids are great!
I just started the game and decided to begin as mage and then go to hybrid with technical :D So I have a lot more range attacks (gun and magic) but also fast close range attack (going for one handed weapon which you can get from technical/warrior and not for heavy one handed weapon) in combination with the traps from technical, I feel like this could be a lot of fun in fights, especially if you're fighting groups and/or larger enemies
great video and a great game! side note: craftsmanship is kind of a worthless skill as there is a merchant in new searen that can craft all the things for you ... for a price.
Question for those who are playing/have played, and have used Firearms: if I wanted to use Firearms (Accuracy) as my only method of dealing damage, would that work out? I'm seeing conflicting info, with some people saying Firearms do amazing damage, and then others saying that they don't do enough damage so don't rely on them...
I would say no to it being possible in the early game. Starting out, you are limited to 5 bullets and cannot craft ammo until Science level 2. Guns do great damage, but until you can craft ammo, you have to hope you loot some or else spend money to buy some. I definitely use guns as often as I can, but I do not use it as the sole source of damage.
Using firearms only is a bit unreliable but I guess you can pull it off. It requires a ton of micromanagement but firearms do insane damage if you invest in craftsmanship as well. If you want to play as a ranged character I would make a hybrid and start as a mage then invest into firearms later.
I was so set on the Mage class but Tech looks awesome! So much variety and versatility with the added bonuses of AOE and status effects. I like playing more of a battle mage but the mage class as it stands seems to focus more on zoning and poke damage! Your more of a nuisance and I want to blow shit up 🤷🏽♂️
I feel you man! I was 100% going mage until I saw how many explosive skills Tech gets later on and decided to make a new character. I've had so much more fun with the traps and guns than I ever did with magic. The AOE damage of Tech is insane 💪
I'm mage as well although I realized with siora healing and armor magic is useless and I hate shadow burst so I may try some tech skills as well as magic
One thing I would mention is certain armor and characters on your team will give you a +1 to your talent. I wouldn't invest in crafting because you have a guy in one of the towns that can craft tier 3s for 75 gold per craft tbh. I did mage. Lot of potions needed to keep mana up but you can craft potions and the materials to craft it are always available. It was a boring playthrough because mage is op when you invest in endurance and magic. Plenty of life to sustain yourself and damage to end battles quickly.
In terms of damage two handed hammers are the strongest, and the gun in the tutorial area does decent element damage and requires no gun skills to use. The gun is a finisher, the hammer does significantly more work late game than any gun build.
The last RPG game was DragonAce IQ and Witcher 3 and happy to play something like that again. The last game I played was Red dead Redemption 2 and it’s a super Lite RPG. I miss RPG games!!!
Just go Divine magic ring why on skills, pick the first branch of it to Shadow burst all the way and you are set for the game. This attacks spawning it 2-3 times kills of anything but the bosses making everything fast 5-10s fight depending on how far away are the enemies. Tougher more resistant creatures requires additional points into magic to get Storm ultimate and one point extra for unlocking slow on ALL afflicted and magica resistance decrease of 25% for 15s, just do this once and you spawn shadow burst ad see hp melting happen. Its free, does not use up resources. Right up till finish I used heavy one/two handed weapons for bosses, but in the end saw that best combo is magica with firearms, ranged fight using stats only in this 3 groups. Adding magic ability stasis with 50% dmg increase is the boss killer with you standing still and spawning 2 skills - stasis to freeze single enemy and add next dmg 50% increase with next attack and firearms quick button repeatedly. Just watch and laugh madly as you see boss freeze in all manor of posses like taking a shot(double innuendo) and get your dmg as high as over 1.8-2,2k per shot. After this nothing will feel so OP ever again. This also works with you having 6 skill points, but much less dmg and lot more bullets. Enjoy.
i really can't decide. the mage looks fun but a little too classic, the warrior is what inspires me the most, but it looks so stupid that the 2-handed sword is swung like a baseball bat.

Yeah, the only enemies that could take a few more hits appeared in very late game, not sure if you beat the game but if you did, you knew which ones I mean. Also some of the Nadaig bosses are pretty resistant to magic.
Well jeepers! Old Skillup really glossed over this info. Strikes me as a deep and very cool set of choices.
Skillup is a pretty average reviewer. He only judges games based on how much he enjoyed them and since he plays games for the sake of reviewing them he often hampers his own enjoyment by trying to rush through and do and see everything for the review.
Broomstick is much better, gives a good overview of the game and it's mechanics and doesn't let his personal opinion overshadow the information, allowing you to better make your own decisions.
thanks for adding to the hype!!!
Technical The Sherlock Holmes of Greedfall :P
Preordered this game but never finished it when it first came out and now that I’m about to start it over from the beginning several years later and this video was super helpful!
Been wanting to play this game since it came out and now that's free on PS+ I'm just waiting for the next 3 hors for it to download, I'm super stoked and I came here to get a little advice as to what class to play.
After watching, I'm 99% going Technical at first, everything about it is my jam and I'll probably work a little bit of Magic in throughout the game.
Thanks for the great, spoiler free video!
The technical charector seems to play like a blood Born charector fast and smart
I prefer the magic and warrior combined. Making my build like a Battlemage with Intuition, Craftsmanship, Science, and Charm.
I started with the magic class and beat everybody down with a mace and ring. After that I used a memory crystal to switch to guns and science. I made about 200 bullets in new serene.
This game gives me Dragon’s Dogma vibes, neat stuff
Dragons Dogma, Witcher, Bloodborne, maybe Monster Hunter; hard to tell
Nooooo Dragons Dogma is its own tier this doesn’t compare
Also dragon age
Whilst you can have all classes at late game, going dual-spec as early as possible is probably best - Warrior and Mage would be a great choice (which is what ill be going down), but your choice of dual-spec is up to you. With a warrior and mage dual-spec, you can slam your enemies with a sword, mace etc then retreat and finish them off with a spell - and not to mention, going dual-spec with a mage allows you to save on potions
Just saw this on PS Plus and am now downloading it. Great video, informative without the spoilers. Thanks for the review. Subbed!
Ssaame
20 hours in the game. Warrior class in extreme. Its fuckin difficult !! Deffinitely recommended
This looks very good!
been interested inthis game for a while and at a tenner took the plunge great watching these videos as I want to be fully prepared before I play .
Mage science, you craft mana potion stand in one spot and spam
While kurt tank, it's boring but stupidly effective since magic just pop right through armor.
Excellent video. This game looks fantastic.
Thanks!
Great vid man, thanks!
4:10 I think what im going to pick is, Techical
Kind'a reminds me of.. Fable, Assassins Creed, and maybe Mortal Kombat mixed in one game... So cool, looks amazing, GreedFall
Love the video. Very informative without a ton of unnecessary information or commentary. It gets straight to the point.
My only problem with the video is how monotone you sound.
Can you please tell me aside from those 3 starter classes. Are we still getting more? How many skills are there?
well glad i'm not too far in game restarting to be technical
You can just reset by using a memory crystal
Great job! Subbed!
Thank you!
Awesome vid dude
I think I'm gonna go magic being able to bypass armor seems op
Dude, I think you have the potential to replace the late TotalBiscuit in terms of Pro-consumer reviewers on youtube. Your style is very different from his and I wouldn't have it any other way because everyone should inject their own personality into their videos, but I can tell you have the same level of passion he did.
Good to see there are still reviewers out there that haven't abandoned their principles. Godspeed.
Not to speak ill of the dead, but Totalbiscuit was anything but pro consumer lol
@@MorrisseyMuse TotalBiscuit had his flaws. He was temperamental and sometimes acted hypocritically, but I don't see how we was anti-consumer. Why do you think that?
0:40 - 0:46 - a great meme right there xD
I have just started play the game today and I decided to play as technical for my first playthrough mainly because magic has always been an obvious "easy" cool class I would go first in rpg and I thought to change that in greedfall. Like 'it'd be cool to focus on lock pick, put traps, then bang bang and go slash slash like a thief getting caught off while breaking into a house' XD
Warrior? Not really a fan of heavy armor/melee. Now watching this, I'm glad I chose technical. The class combat is really cool 😆
But can you avoid using melee on technical and just use pistols/traps/bombs? It looked to me like you would have to use sword or other melee weapon while playing technical
@@jennycrossdress8500
You could focus solely on pistol if you have ridiculous amount of ammo in your inventory. Also I'd like to add, you would still use melee even if you go as magic caster since the mana depletes so fast
Edit: about the trap and bomb, for now I rarely use them because I haven't unlock craftsmanship talent so I'm saving them for difficult fights
Excellent review, game is being downloaded right at this moment.
Looking forward to going it a run!
Merry Xmas
Finally a quick overview of the classes. I've watched at least 5 videos about Greedfall and non focused on the classes available.
This definitely makes me want to buy the game!
Great video! Short and concise, earned my sub!
Great breakdown
Subbed
Thanks!
@@BoomstickGaming If possible make some videos of Surge 2 too :).
@@gizelbelcoot he already has at least one done ;) it will be published soon.
Such a great game. Hope they make a sequel
Went Technical because I love poisons and dots. Ended up dealing more with guns because of how broken they are. Crafting ammo is super cheap and you can make a ton very easily. I ended up with a gun with 3 barrels that was sniping enemies at range for their entire health bar with 1 shot.
Dam tough choice I can’t wait to play this
You get a sub.
Thanks for this overview!
I want a sword and shield!🤣
You really do excellent analysis and reviews. I see why that IGN reviewer copied your homework. My only slight criticism would be to speak a little less mono tone but the substance of your analysis is top quality. I was intrigued by this game but had no idea if it would be any good or not, but your recommendation is good enough for me. 👌
That is just my voice sadly lol.
I just started the game and decided to begin as mage and then go to hybrid with technical :D
So I have a lot more range attacks (gun and magic)
but also fast close range attack (going for one handed weapon which you can get from technical/warrior and not for heavy one handed weapon)
in combination with the traps from technical, I feel like this could be a lot of fun in fights, especially if you're fighting groups and/or larger enemies
great video and a great game!
side note: craftsmanship is kind of a worthless skill as there is a merchant in new searen that can craft all the things for you ... for a price.
Damn technical and mage look real fun but I just know somehow I'm going to end up a warrior 😩
Do a combo class the game gives you ample space to mix and match skills and abilites
@@jeffallen8304 i agree i became a warrior gunner but you could set things up to become a mage warrior if you wanted to
A blunt weapon using, stasis abusing, armor spell spamming, healing magic maniac is what I became. I was invincible even on extreme.
Thanks! Great video.
This is a good one well worth the $50.
49.99 or no sale
It kinda reminds me of a mix of the Witcher and fable 3 and dragon age.
the visual at 4:15 made me think of 'fire arms' instead of 'firearms'
Technical class look really good
I was so set on the Mage class but Tech looks awesome!
Love it !!!! :)
Rogue equivalent + magic is the winning formula in any spiders game
Just bought this game and having fun
Thank yo for your video. I just bought it. I look forward to playing. I do hear the first couple of hours suck. But 2 hours ain’t much
In terms of damage two handed hammers are the strongest, and the gun in the tutorial area does decent element damage and requires no gun skills to use. The gun is a finisher, the hammer does significantly more work late game than any gun build.
Man technical is badass
Magic Class is op, with lightning dash and magic missile combo. You are basically untouchable.
Enjoy.
Love your channel. This game is genuine surprise, totally enjoying it!
My best tip is: GUN IS FUN
Just buy as much ammo as you can and respec into guns later and you'll see the beauty of just two-shotting elite mobs
I am having a hard deciding if I want to go with a sword/battlemage type or use my secondary weapon slot for a pistol for mild midrange options
Here is a great hybrid Greed Fall class you might like. th-cam.com/video/fEpYjbx_UcU/w-d-xo.html
i really can't decide. the mage looks fun but a little too classic, the warrior is what inspires me the most, but it looks so stupid that the 2-handed sword is swung like a baseball bat.
still more fun than mage for example. Mages in this game so boring, they lack magic spells.
Hope this game becomes a Witcher 3 style of quality in its sequel with that AAA budget
