It's an in-joke that Roy Orbison sings the lonely part, given how many of his songs were about being lonely. Plus, they clearly had so much fun making this album. You can feel it.
This is one of my favorite super groups! Their voices worked so well together. It was so sad when Orbison passed away but I love their homage to his memory. Great request, and as always loved your reaction! Thanks Nick
Roy's voice is unmistakable when he sings. Angelic is a description I've seen in many places. It resonates so fine in all his songs. I became a fan long after the fact, but looking into the history of the group I think it was probably a welcome and much-needed pull to his feet for Roy when they asked him to join them. Five epic musicians slipping out of their egos at the door and just making fantastic music. His death came too soon for the world, only in his 50's, but he'll never be forgotten for what he gave us.
I grew up in London in the 60s and when I look at these incredible artists and others they are like men to today's boys. They were mature in those days whereas now everyone seems like petulant talentless children. I don't feel at home in today's society and everyone else of my generation says the same so I'm working on a Time Machine and I invite anyone to join me heading back to those times.
Amazing, the guys wrote this song during their recording session. It was inspired by a cardboard box in the studio marked "handle with care", each member of the group contributed some part of the song. For more info on how the Wilburys were formed there is a documentary here on TH-cam. Thanks for the lovely reaction and thanks to Lori for suggesting it.
Such a great song! Glad you are doing more from this awesome group. Lots of other songs such as "Heading For The Light", "Inside Out", "Tweeter & The Monkey Man", "Dirty World", "Last Night", "She's My Baby", "Rattled", "Nobody's Child", "Congratulations" etc.
You should watch the documentary George did about the band, if you do watch the ones from the Traveling Wilburys channel to get the true story! Great reaction dude!
Another great one of theirs is 'End of the Line'. Roy appeared on the song but passed away before they did the video so his guitar was on the rocking chair and there was a picture of him on the side.
Here’s the member’s Wilbury monikers: Nelson Wilbury- George Harrison Otis Wilbury- Jeff Lynne Lefty Wilbury- Roy Orbison Charlie T. Wilbury, Jr.- Tom Petty Lucky Wilbury- Bob Dylan
The first time I heard a TW song on the radio back in the day, I didn't know the band had formed, but I couldn't mistake George's guitar & my ears pricked up... what🤔 then His voice.. THEN I recognised their voices one by one, i was instantly a fan❤😎
Thanks, Nick! probably their first "hit"... everything they did was amazing.. songs featured various "lead singers" but everyone was generous.. just enjoyed each other's talents.. also, give it up for drummer Jim Keltner.. who was offered a credit, but declined.. enjoy your reaction!
Such a great group of guys getting together, all guys with recognizable voices, if you were familiar with them previous their collaboration! Awesome supergroup that put out some amazing music!!🎶🎵 Thanks Nick for all of your wonderful reactions!!❤
Thanks, Nick, for doing my favorite group (next to HomeFree ). I loved every one of these men individually, but when put together, they were a super group of very talented gentlemen . I wore out my first cassett of their album and now own 2 CDs. Tom Petty said that his biggest regret was that they never did a concert together .😢 Me too!!! ❤✌️🥰
Roy Orbison and all his siblings had poor eyesight. He had to use thick corrective lenses from a very early age, and was self-conscious about his appearance.Roy Orbison wore sunglasses due to photophobia, an extreme sensitivity to light likely related to a medical condition. After leaving his thick eyeglasses on an airplane in 1963, while on tour with the Beatles, Orbison was forced to wear his prescription Wayfarer sunglasses on stage and found that he preferred them. The sunglasses led some people to assume he was blind.
George told a story about how this came about, he and Jeff were in LA, they met Roy for lunch, while at lunch George's record label called and asked for a b side song for release, needing a studio they call Bob and ask if they can use his garage studio, Roy asks to tag along, George stops by Tom's house to get his guitar, Tom tags along, they get to Bob's and someone asks what song, George sees a box in the corner with a sticker and writes Handle With Care
The second part is, when the label hears it they think it's too good for a b side and want more, so they borrowed Dave Stewarts house and studio and record an entire album. Tom says they were all wondering around the house telling each other "I'm in a band with Roy freaking Orbison"
You can't forget the drummer, Jim Keltner (Buster Sidebury), one of the most sought after session drummers ever.
YES - give it up for JK!
I also believe Jim Keltner is still alive...

George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynn. Phenomenal.

Great reaction to what was a brilliant song from a supergroup who just loved music and had no egos thank you ❤
I love George Harrison's music! Such beautiful talent!

Even Elvis said Roy had the best voice

Love this along with “End of the Line” which you did, such sadness three gone out of the super five…
Super five indeed
If you Wiki the Drummer Jim Keltner you will find a list of credits so long you will need to put the kettle on halfway down.
We never knew, how good we had it.
That is the honest truth!

What a group of talented guys. Roy was the first to die.
You mentioned that probably Tom played the harmonica. Look at the hands. Black jacket and red shirt: Roy Orbison!
Loved Jeff Lynn's Concert For George. Check it out. Worth your time
Wonderful ❤
Glad they included an acoustic 12-string guitar. -- it really adds a lot to the overall sound. Not sure which member was playing it.

Metaphorically, Roy Orbison's voice so satisfyingly scoops the bottom of the bowl of all its goodness.

Seeing them in concert would have been truly special
love this band.

Unmistakable that Beatles sound
Jeff Lynn is a huge Beatles fan and has worked with the remaing Beatles on other projects.

the traveling wilburys ❤
yo, outstanding video-work-have a good one-🔥
Thanks, you too!
RIP Roy Orbison, Jeff lynn and Tom Petty very sadly missed ❤
Jeff Lynne still very much alive!
@sharonrodgers1136
George Harrison! You mean George Harrison. Not Jeff Lynne.
It's "everybody wants somebody to lean on.
They don't say "got," not "wants".
