      Oh Roy
And his death devastated so many people in some ways it was like losing Elvis all over again. And for those that want to know why they seem to get lumped together they used to tour together Roy would open up for Elvis. And Elvis want said that Roy had the voice of an Angel... and Elvis would be correct.

I still get teary-eyed listening to End of the Line because of the rocking chair and guitar, but they without a _shred of doubt_ made bad songs. Plural. Remember Cool Dry Place? I mean what the hell were they thinking LOL

I always like George's little sarcastic smile as he sings the line "Oh, the sweet smell of success"
since the song is kind of about all the hyping up and dissing down and general craziness projected at anyone who's a big name rock star/celebrity. But, of course, they're still just human underneath it all and would appreciate being handled with a bit more care...
The End of the Line is another reflective song, about dealing mentally with the inevitability of death.
I love how this band embraced ideas that come later in life, and made them rock!

Harrison needed a b side . Jeff Lynn was producing Harrison and Roy he needed a studio so they used Dylan's studio in his Malibu home Harrison's guitar was at Petty house so they all ended up together. The realized the song was too good for a B side so they decided to do an album

You're right. George handpicked friends to become the Traveling Wilburies, b/c he was enormously underappreciated in the Beatles. It's no wonder he wanted out!! Then he was finally able to release some of his stockpile of incredible music! So once he put out the phenomenal album "All Things Must Pass" he later handpicked friends where everybody was given the respect they deserved!

True. I would just add that George handpicked friends to become the Traveling Wilburies. He'd been enormously underappreciated in the Beatles, so no wonder he wanted out!!! That was the only way he could finally start putting out some of his stockpile of incredible music!! "All Things Must Pass", "Beware of Darkness" & "Isn't it a Pity" are a few that really deserve to be checked out. Everybody in the Traveling Wilburies was incredible in their own right, but without George they wouldn't exist!!

The two Traveling Wilbury's albums (Volume 1 and Volume 3, yes 3) are loads of fun. Many of the songs coming from all these talents sitting around tossing out lines. One of them "Tweeter and the Monkey Man" is just Dylan and Petty having a go a every Springsteen song title, theme, setting that came to mind. All in good fun.

Harri, I'm so glad you reacted to the music video! I'm sure you can see now why I stressed the importance of that. Same thing goes for the next song from them, called, "End of the Line"...it is another visual treat, so the official music video is a must. The band was started when George Harrison hired Jeff Lynne to produce his album, Cloud 9. The two legends immediately became best friends, and during production George suggested to Jeff that they should start their own band. They discussed who they wanted in the band, what the band's name would be, and soon thereafter the supergroup was formed. Jeff does sing on, "Handle With Care", but not solo. He pairs with Roy at one point, and with two others at other points. For this first song by the band, Jeff really had his Producer hat on, and I think in deference to his heroes (Orbison, Harrison, and Dylan) and peers (Petty), he stayed back a bit and let them shine. However, Jeff does sing much more prominently in the next Wilburys' song you'll be doing, "End of the Line", which we're all looking forward to seeing you react to. :)

They all played acoustic guitar, Dylan [Lucky Wilbury] sang harmonica, Harrison [Nelson Wilbury] played slide of course (and electric) and Lynne [Otis Wilbury] played electric guitar, bass and drums. Tom Petty was Charlie T. Wilbury Jr and Roy Orbison was Lefty Wilbury. The myth is they were brothers with 1 father and 5 different mothers.

Dylan is a deep well you really must explore one of these days, Harri. Maybe start with some of his early songs in folk/protest style, and follow his progression from there chronologically. You will be blown away by his poetic imagery and emotional force. Dylan is one of the true greats of 20th century music. He was a huge influence on John Lennon and the Beatles in general, and through them, on practically everyone else.

You made my day! These guys all together is dynamite. When I worked, my favorite wake-up song was Tom Petty's "Runnin' Down A Dream." If I heard that on the way to work, I knew it was going to be a great day! After 24 long years of being a co-owner, Vice President, my dad died, my mom died, and my older brother embezzled me out of quite a lot of money. I'm the last one of the family alive. They did a couple of albums, different guys took the lead on different songs. All of them are good. They all linked up as friends of friends. Tom brought Bob along, George brought Jeff. They all enjoyed the vibe and the company. Think Jeff was left to do most of the sound production afterwards. So it's got a bit of an ELO feel.

Great video, great reaction... I think they decided to record songs together when they knew they had Roy Orbison singing...✌😎💯

This was my first time seeing you on a reaction video, Harri, and I really enjoyed it. As the Terminator would say, "I'll be back!"

The Travelling Wilburys, great company indeed. Super Group.
Listen to this band Dirty Mac - lead guitarist Eric Clapton, rhythm guitar and vocals John Lennon, bass Keith Richards, drummer Mitch Mitchell (from the Jimi Hendrix Experience). The group was formed for the The Rolling Stones TV show "Rock and Roll Circus" in 1968. It has never been shown on television. Dirty Mac played the song "Yer Blues" (freshly released in those days on the Beatles double white album). Breathtaking.

They each sung the lyrics separate, each time it got around to Roy ( Big O) the " Lonly " part would land at him each time, they were laughing about it because, it freaked them out each time that lyric hit Roy!

I'd love to be a fly on the wall when they recorded this. What a supergroup! My favorite TW is Jeff Lynne of ELO.
