  • The C6 Corvette is definitely a flashy car, especially with in "Victory Red" like my car. It's alot of fun and gets alot of respect on the road, but here are some things you may not have known about it.

    I installed a "skip shift eliminator" on mine. Like the freedom to go into any gear I want when I want. Cost me like $15 on Amazon took me 5 minutes to install. That's the number one best thing I did to my car. That drove me crazy!!

      Mine honestly doesnt even do it that much... Only does it like a quarter of the time. I think i shift too early into 2nd before it even turns the 1-4 light on. I love how easily it accelerates ahead of other cars off a red light

    Beautiful car! Good to know about the hood too. I've been looking at C6s recently and didn't even think to check if the thing was cracked.

    Skip Shift is not a real problem once you understand how and when it occurs. I've never closed my hood like you do. I lower it by grasping in the center to about 3 to 6 inches and drop, closes perfectly everytime. I think your cracks may have occured because someone raised or lowered by grabbing on the sides instead of the middle. (Just my theory)

    • @Drive315
      @Drive315  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and subscribe! I sold the car... but i think it had an accident before that caused the hood crack... and yes i figured out how to work the skip shift ( i kinda shifted too early before it even turns on the 1-4 light)... one thing i wish that car did better is shift, compared to my honda it shifted horribly if im completely honest. I plan to get a newer corvette in the future

    • @Drive315
      @Drive315  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and subscribe... the car would grind like 75% of the time every time i try to take off normally (once i slowly let go of the clutch in 1st gear)... actually did it even more often going in reverse. After I changed the transmission fluid it seemed to be better but still grinded. My 2012 accord coupe 5speed shifted like an angel compared to the corvette, i know it sounds like im bashing the corvette but its my honest answer.

    What about the weird START button that does not even say PUSH or START? What about the weird seat warmers that have RED and ORANGE. What does orange even mean? We know it is lower, but why bother? Lots more quirks inside, I could list 50. What about the see through pop top clips and its actual weight?

      Simple. When it’s red it’s very warm and when it’s orange it’s not as warm. It’s nice to have the option. When shutting the hood, hold it from the center about 3 inches away. Do not put down one side first. It flexes the hood and bends it.

    • @bmann792
      @bmann792 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve had my car for a while now and there are some simple cheap things you can do to dress it up to update the look to refresh. First, new emblems. Second, polish the headlights and use chrome polish to clean tips. Take all of the black plastic around the exhaust and use trim detailer to make it gloss and look new.

      Thanks for watching and subscribe, good luck! Mine was nice but with it being a 13 year old car it did have alot of wear and tear. Try to get one with a good transmission, mine grinded gears and occasionally had problems starting. I sold mine, gonna look for a c7 or potentially a camaro Ss in the future

    I never had to close the hood the way you do on the video. I just simply lower the hood and both latches on the left and right side clamp on their own. No muss no fuss.

    • @Drive315
      @Drive315  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and subscribe. The lift arms that hold the hood up get weak on these corvettes. And a previous owner must have slammed it a little harder and must have caused the crack ! I have alot of recent videos with the car, check it out !

    • @derjoh1986
      @derjoh1986 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Drive315 ok, I will . True, the hood struts do become weak over time but that should have been when the previous owner should have taken extra steps not to slam the hood, in fear of hood damage of that very reason of hood buckle. I have a 2008 Vette, never had that problem since 2008. Then again, I don't slam car hoods. I would be concerned of the hood latch would eventually loosen or the hood itself would eventually become out alignment if I slam it. But in your case, you were a victim of circumstance.of the previous owner. Still a decent Vette, you have.
