I’m sorry but the biggest problem with eBay is they are saying the buyer is right. No matter what they defend the buyer not the seller. They need to find a medium happy for sellers and buyers. Gift cards rewards would be nice but being fair would be a lot nicer. Just my opinion about eBay.

1000% agree! I have probably been screwed out of a couple thousand with them pulling that bs! They look for any reason to blame the shipping company and expect us sellers to deal with them and will flip flop on whos fault it is.
I have been going back and forth with them and Fedex on a $700 laptop that Fedex lost.
Yes, Fedex lost it, but its Ebay's fault for not fixing the INAD policy and buyers can use that excuse for anything even if they don't understand what they ordered!🤦‍♂️
I sold a brand new laptop "AS IS". I tested it and showed pics of it working. The buyer gets it and immediately opens a INAD case. I was forced to pay for a return shipping label. Fedex loses it so for almost 30 days Ebay tells me I am covered since its the buyers responsibility to get it back to me. The end of the month rolls around and Fedex clears pending tracking numbers so it shows delivered, but it wasn't delivered to me! I had 2 days to fight with Fedex over it and they admitted they lost it. Ebay closes the case in the buyers favor and tells me that since I sent them the email with Fedex admitting they lost it, I could file a claim, but then Fedex wont let me file the claim because ebay put the buyer as the shipper. So its been over a month and I am still out. At this point IF I get paid for it, its going to be a loss for all the time invested trying to get somewhere🤦‍♂️

Unfortunately Ebay won't change. Ever since the day they got rid of Sellers ability to leave Negative Feedback, it's been all downhill. That's why Scammers are Rampant.

They should be promoting for us. We pay them a fee each transaction(I'm okay with that since they are bringing the buyer, atleast were..).. but now they want us to pay for the promoting of our items to get buyers to our listing, but they want to keep raising the fees and bring in less buyers unless ourselves pay for the ad.. its just free traffic to the website coming out our pockets.

One of eBay's biggest mistake was forgetting who their customers are -their sellers. Period. The buyers are their customers' customers. A lot of traditional small sellers were also buyers, and they've chased many of those away. The primary mistake was forgetting that dishonorable conduct will bite you in the butt sooner or later. Dishonor the sellers and once they've taken all they can stomach, you're in trouble. It's good news that they're FINALLY wising up and going after a younger customer base, but it's likely they have to since they've chased off a lot of older ones.

Love your ideas and ethical attitude about selling! Can you tell me if you charge shipping separately as a rule on your items? The reason I ask is that it seems like Ebay wants us to include shipping in the cost of the item.. but that makes the item seem more expensive, and people selling seem to have such a slender profit margin that I wonder how they stay in business. I haven't been a seller on Ebay for decades, but must sell on Ebay now to create a livable income; needing to afford a used car and better heat this winter. At times in the past, I took a beating on shipping, so now that I'm on an extremely limited income, way below the poverty line, I am wary of how I should sell my things.. I appreciate everything you teach, and any advice you can give, thank you very much for being here to help us.

That eBay ad has been running for the last couple weeks…was encouraged to see them finally advertising but found the execution to be absolutely cringeworthy. The ad confirms that eBay still clearly has an identity crisis and doesn’t know how to convey the practical/bargain factor that they should be embracing for a much broader appeal for regular folks regardless of age.

If eBay is not constantly running industry analysis they are in big trouble. It appears they are if they are starting to trend towards advertising to a younger crowd but they are already behind the curve and now trying to play catch up. It doesn’t take much for new entrants to a market to innovate and jump ahead anymore with how rapidly technology changes. It’s all about competitive advantage and if eBay is complacent with where they sit in the market because they have a large share today, we are all in trouble tomorrow.

Ebay needs to fix the glitches that have been ongoing for over a year. When the glitch is in offers it affects sellers ability to sell items. You'd think that would be a priority but, well its apparently not.

They get enough off me for "seller fees" that after my first full year of selling full time, I am considering creating my own website and paying for FB and TT ads and would probably save money and sell more!

31:13 Not a woodblock print, a wooden printing/stamp block. It's a printing block if it's made of metal and backed with wood. The metal ones were made to set into a pringing plate like they did at an old newspaper. Rubber stamps are usually on wood too. Sometimes you might rarely run into an old engraving block or linocut block. A wood-block print is made with multiple (usually) wooden blocks carved to be printed with just one color, and then used one after the other. Japanese block prints can be incredibly elaborate, and alas don't sell for much now. (Gave a small one away to an art teacher a few years back, literally gave, and he was over the moon because they were $illy money when he went looking and I'd opened the back so he could show his kids how it was done.)

This is great news ... as long as eBay doesn't make the mistake of damaging seller's businesses by implying that items are practically free in their advertising like Poshmark did.
Poshmark's buyer directed ads made it very hard to sell quality apparel at an acceptable profit margin.
It's also pretty foolish marketing considering that PM is paid on percentage by sellers.
That, among other things, drove many sellers to start crosslisting.

Something that doesn't get many views on eBay can sell quickly and higher on a different platform. Ebay isn't the be all end all for pricing that it maybe used to be either.

The only way eBay can bring younger buyers to the platform is to only or mostly only enable sellers who sell to that demographic. look at it this way, there are 100 stores you can make them brick and mortar or they could be 100 vendors at a flea market you invite only those who are 40 and younger to this event & at least 50% or more of those vendors cater to an older demo, the younger buyers won’t be attracted to them and then will only buy from a select number of those who are younger demographic sellers. That’s eBay. as long as they look like a junkyard with photos that are upside down, sideways, blurry, compounded by awful descriptions they look like amateurs and far from cool. ebay started by selling your junk around the house & that is what they still look like that is their image. perception is realty. unless they change their image they’ll never achieve that goal.
