It amazes me how certain people don't realize how tariffs work. Great video. I see resaling going up because people will relize how much it effects regular businesses.
Anyone who unsubs is just being unreasonable... nothing incendiary about that at all. I also don't think we'll see mass tariffs - I think it'll be more targeted for negotiating leverage. Theoretically speaking though, if we do see mass tariffs it could potentially boost the secondary market... just a passing thought.
I’ve been sourcing out of my home. I have found so much stuff in our storages that I no longer want or need. As far as politics, I lived thru busing, riots, Vietnam war, etc. I started high school in 1970. Whew!!! What a nightmare! Candidates running for president? Well there were a couple that I could not believe my ears a person could even say about another person just because of the color of their skin. I’ve witness hearing and seeing a lot of promises and threats coming from our government. Prices rising in the grocery store, clothing, gas, buying a home, buying a car, healthcare, etc. If we couldn’t afford college we went to work. Learned to budget, learned To cook, learned to sew my own clothes…… whatever. But all this being said our Lord was and still is on the throne.🙌
I’m glad I grew up in the 90s, still got to play outside a lot. Also got to be a part of computer and the internet growing, new video games. I feel like I got to experience both modern and past ways of childhood. A lot of my millennial friends agree the 90s hold a lot of nostalgia for us.
Love your explanation of things, yes, I agree with everything that you said and I’m not even a seller. I’m a buyer. Thanks for your show and thanks for your information. Have a wonderful holiday. Send love from Northern California.
The inflation was global. You’re exactly right. The economists warned that it was coming. It was pretty much guaranteed after the pandemic. The US actually faired better than most of the world. However, the corporations made a lot of money off of increasing prices. That’s just a fact. Corporate profits are way up. The middle class tax cuts have already expired. The expiring tax cuts they are worried about are for the Uber wealthy. And overall energy costs won’t go down because normal people will have to spend much more on keeping a home cool as the planet gets hotter and hotter. Most people cannot afford solar, especially because those tax credits for solar are going to disappear. Just like most renewable energy projects will disappear in favor of more oil pipelines and fracking. Tell me I’m wrong in a year.
You may be right you may be wrong. Time will tell but I can tell you about middle class tax cuts. They have indeed not expired and won't until next year. It is likely that not only won't they expire but the are likely to be lower.
I can see the 90's Era on a comeback. Just one example. Look at the recent taco bell commercials. It's a throw back to the 90's. Everything all comes back around. We might be talking about western stuff a year from now. Who knows. 😂
My husband got sued for sending a fax advertising his seminar to other drs for their hours to get licenses renewed. It was for 2 pieces of paper cost us 5 thousand dollars..who knew it was a federal law😮
I always see the “only sell essentials” comments online. To me that is ignoring what people actually look for on EBay. People need to just relax- plan your work, work your plan.
The last 2 weeks have been my best sales since covid on Ebay . Its been amazing and i am one that loves eBay. I walked away from mercari. Love the shirt, kevin . I also owe a thanks to Kevin and a few other youtubers for their advice and teachings .
Kind of funny that people think reselling is over or that the good times were 3 or 4 years ago. For me the good times were the early 2000s. However that's mostly because I had very little responsibility & it was just me and my friends. We are just emerging from a bubble in online selling and those whose businesses were not fundamentally sound will fail. I believe those are the ones we are hearing the most from when it comes to dark Days ahead for reselling.

Short term renting was hit with a 14 day policy not too long ago where you don’t have to pay tax on that income as long as you keep it under the 14 days. It use to be, I believe by me, 90 days. It’s all about money and where they can tax you they will. I am a firm believer that many times government will do what they can to make money…i.e. regulations! I feel that it’s going to go that way, if not already, for reselling. Thanks as always for your videos. Look forward to them!😉
Hopefully, no one was upset by this. There really is no reason to be, unless one ear is closed (left or right 😊). Thank you for the information and keeping personal politics out of it. ✌️
I was sued about 2 years ago by a trademark troll company that own trademarks for a certain character whose likeness is in the public domain for selling one lighter I bought at a thrift store and sold for $35 dollars not even knowing a trademark existed for the lighter name. I was served via an email I don’t check regularly because it was only used for eBay. I received a default judgment and didn’t even realize I had been sued and found liable until eBay suspended my account, but by the time that happened, the time to appeal had lapsed, so I was on the hook for a $100K default judgment with absolutely zero recourse. The lawsuit came out of the US District Court of Northern Illinois and was part of a Schedule A lawsuit. Currently I haven’t heard anything from the law firm or company in terms of collections, but I told myself if they ever tried to collect, I was going to come after the judge and lawyers and make an example out of them for the racket they are running because I don’t have the money to fight the courts. I am certain the judges in that court are being paid kickbacks for issuing these judgements.
I believe most people don't know much about tariffs, its similar to Ebay categories, where you have sub category to a sub category and each of those sub categories have their own tariff code, you can put a percent fee on each code level at different rates. So you have many different levers you can play with. I was part of department of a large retailer that would audit and update those tariffs on the PO's, companies will show the tariff at a line item level, so they can be tracked and analyzed based on business needs. Like you said Kevin it will not be across the board it will need to be used as a U.S. comprehensive strategy.
The tariffs will drive prices for new goods up. Hilariously, the tariffs put in place by his first administration were largely kept in place and part of the reason for price increases. But people like to forget that part. Do I blame Biden for that? Yes, because he could have removed them and he didn’t. However, the president doesn’t actually have that much control over prices overall beyond adding to them through tariffs. The tariffs WILL increase prices. It will be a good thing for resellers selling basic needs, but it’ll drive more newcomers into the reseller game and people will complain about that. My financial planner, and 80% of economists, are predicting a recession if he implements the tariffs he promised. But we’ve entered the FAFO stage now. So enjoy the ride folks. I’d put cash away now.
Wait, so eBay is all about the buyer by having them not buy your stuff? 😂 If you've only sold 2 items in 2 months you have the worst inventory ever in the history of the internet.
I see both sides politically getting tariffs wrong. It's not an issue for us as sellers in any case. Lower or non-existent tariffs encourage more inventory to resell. Higher tariffs increase demand for reseller inventory. We win both ways. ;)
It's hard to speak on inflation. I commend you bringing the educational side into this discussion. I tend to reserve my emotions for other things besides political engagements, so this video was nice for me. All of my life I have leaned into learning about what was happening with my world, and like telling people about what I have learned. Lately no one will hear it.. lol. You are a history teacher, which gives you a nice look at things. Everything is historical. What we do with it will change how things come out.
They got us to pay the price and they will keep them the same or go up. People need to stop buying. I'm a hair stylist and sell on ebay, 30 years self-employed. My honest opinion is small business across the board is going to get hurt. I keep my records to look back on them and if we don't go into a recession, I will be shocked. I hope not but I listen to my intuition and my records. Very interesting what is to come. All we can do is just keep pushing forward.
Love it when certain judges get compromised and start fucking things up. There have been world famous stories related to child endangerment because judges get captured by someone with money and start getting kickbacks...
If I have a charger cable that says "lightning" on it, I can't list it on eBay with that word. Go try it. I mean, somehow other people are able to, but I can't. So, I spell he word wrong, as do other people, just to sell a cable for 9 bucks with free shipping.
Yep. We saw the inflation coming for sure! Put money into some home repairs right away instead of waiting and made a down payment on a trip we wanted to take a couple of years out. But I KNEW that if we didn’t lock the price in, we wouldn’t have been able to take it for several more years. You are right. When the government was spending crazy money, inflation had to follow. Anyway, another reason to keep debt to a minimum if not zero. And as always, like America Arbitrage would say, we need to be able to adapt to whatever comes. We’ll be ok.
I think the economy will get better and people will spend more. I work at a high school and these kids are really wanting things like pearl snap shirts, record players, albums. Lots of vintage stuff.
I think there's still too much vitriol at this point to have civil political conversations on an open forum - personally I don't need to listen to a youtube pundit explain his personal bias to me. No one can actually predict the future, you know, it would all be guesses - maybe very well informed ones, but guesses none the less.
I love your Grateful Dead shirt today Kevin, great colorway too! I'm curious to know your favorite Dead song...? Mine would probably be Sugar Magnolia. 😊
Respecting others point of view while expressing your own has always been your M.O. I never understand why someone would unsub just because they don't agree with you. Diversity of thought strengthens us all. We don't all need to agree to be friends. Keep doing what you're doing and for everyone else watching... subscribe to the channel, comment and support our diverse reselling community :)
The boom was during the pandemic with most everyone home and some free government checks in their pockets. Reselling will be steady, IF you buy quality items to flip. That will always sell. I see so many content shows selling 10-15$ items now. So for part timers, it doesn’t seem realistic to make good money anymore.
If an individual unsubs due to your discussions, well, then the universe has other plans for both of you. So you gather the pieces and move on as you did not need them. Absolutely, this 3 D earth is moving to more control, regulations, fines. Move back to nature. Love you content. Peace, love and light. 💚💙💛💜.
As I always say, "if it ain't going sideways, it ain't going." Where is reselling heading? Beats me, but it'll be at least 15 degrees off from your best guess. Whatever your best guess may be. As for trusting politicians, that's mistake #1.
With Toyota and using the name, it’s a lot more to do with EBAYs unwillingness to be involved in any potential liability and just arbitrarily siding with the accuser than it is any side of the political isle supporting regulations over another. Regulations can go astray and lead to issues, but zero regulations can totally run amuck
Generally speaking I think reselling will be better. People should start buying more, with the election now over. We still have to buy low and sell high due to the increasing fees on the platforms and with shipping. I also think in general the economy will be better. I don't think it can get much worse. We'll have to see what happens with the tariffs in relation to costs for some goods, but only time will tell.
" I don't think it can get much worse." Do you remember the 80s?? It was much worse then. And of course the 30s, but not many people left who remember the Depression. And then there's Germany between the wars... Please don't tempt fate by saying it can't get worse.
Check out the Supreme Court case about the reversal of the chevron indifference. It happened this year. Those regulations have been lifted per there ruling
Just underscores the importance of congress not voluntarily ceding it's own power to government agencies that change with the wind and usurp power that isn't theirs. Ambigous laws are the devil's regulatory playground.
I can't tell you how things will go. Most economists I have listened to say if he does what he says he will, then the economy will get worse. I don't think he will do half the things he says he will (what President does? Not everything is their choice) I do know my sales have gone down since the election. But I don't have a lot of impulse buy items. People aren't just going out and buying now the election is over. Some are, thinking the economy will get better, others are hording their money because they are even more worried than ever about the economy. I can't say what direction the second hand market will go. I find this to be too up in the air to guess. I think most people assume what they want to believe, not using any actual data or anything. It is sad that so many companies are already having to do things like cut Christmas bonuses and reduce work force to brace themselves if those promised across the board tariffs do happen. They can't just wait and see what happens, they have to prepare now. People tend to look at the side they want, not both sides. I things will depend on what things actually happen in the government versus what the plan is at the moment. 🤷♀️
There will always be opportunities appearing and disappearing. Whether or not you adapt is the key factor to your success. For decades, people have continued to claim that "so and so is dying" whether it's a card game, a MMORPG, or a reselling platform. But while some cry wolf, others are finding ways to thrive. A lot of people are about to have buyer's remorse after voting in a POTUS that has made it no secret that he's going to increase the prices of imported goods, and the price of groceries too. Yes that's going to be a reality if he plans on deporting all of the farm workers who help keep the cost of labor low. FAFO.
Hey brother, always nice to see you and the fam. You got a beautiful house. you never show the inside much. nice job You know what not for nothin but unsubscribe… really I usually don’t say too much but they can’t handle the truth. If you can’t handle the heat get out the kitchen like JRide says just own it if we made a mistake we learn from it. We don’t duplicate it and others learn from us as well. Neeeexxxt Like are we part of the problem or part of the solution? What are we willing to do to make things better? You know if you’re not doing nothing different then shut up and take it you know. don’t worry about nothing my friend keep on doing what you’re doing. do not change your ways we all appreciate you. You got some friends here, buddy. you’re only human reach out to us my friend as well if you need a shoulder, I’m pretty huge lol anyway happy holidays Kevin can’t wait to chat again
Interesting you mention subscriber loss. I watch another TH-camr ENTIRELY different content-he just mentioned Loss of 3-4K of subs- all at once or within days. I. Wonder if it’s a glitch or being done on purpose to content makers. It’s just too strange , can’t be real subscriber dis-interest. ?!
This is actually spot on. And we all dodged a massive bullet in regards to these next 4 years... in regards to reselling is what I'm talking about. But to be honest, we dodged a massive bullet for the sake of our country. I, for one, am glad to still be able to call this the United States! It was looking iffy there for awhile! ❤ Love your show.
You did try not to be too political; I'm not sure you succeeded, and I almost turned the vid off at one point, but you tried so hard not to take sides that i stuck with it. One thing I've noticed is that some people complain and moan and groan (not you, Kevin)...but those people really should realize that's not good for your business. It's really not. So much of reselling involves the customer's perception. Staying positive not only helps your own mental environment, but people would rather shop with vendors that make them feel better, not people that are such downers. MPO - there will always be a place for reselling. The types of goods that sell, and the way we sell them, may have to change with the winds of the economy and the political scene, but there will always be people who love to find treasures (or bargains, or whathaveyou), and there will always be people who will buy them.
Since the election, my views and sales have tripled and quadrupled. I have actually sold more in the 3 weeks since than past 5 months. Had one live auction and many items sold higher than eBay comps. Most all buyers said they feel safer about spending so take it how you perceive it but I’m glad the result was what it was.
I’ve had lots of doom spending going on too. People buying goods now while they can. We’ll see what happens once the tariffs get slapped in place and there’s nobody to pick the agricultural crops. You wanna talk about expensive food? Just wait and see.
Inflation has robbed my family 20% or more of our purchasing power over the last 4 1/2 years. I totally agree that inflation is caused directly by government over-spending. The one bright spot for me is that I have increased my sales by an average of 15% year over year for 9 years in a row. So reselling has allowed us to maintain our standard of living on a fixed income teacher retirement pension. I too am BULLISH on the future of reselling. More and More people are going to want my new and good used items at a discount so they may also stretch their precious funds.
I might add one thing to this however. It's not necessarily government spending alone that drives inflation, and all government spending isn't a driver of inflation. It is over spending revenues collected that is the problem. Whether that is through Quantitative easing or through acquiring more debt. That is the overspending that exapands the money supply and causes excessive inflation. I know you well enough to know that you know this already. Just making the point.
@ thanks I need little dogs like yours that don’t plow you down like mine 🤣. I’m already going stir crazy, 11 more weeks with putting no weight on it . Good time to catch up on all my favorite TH-camrs 😊😊
Trusting politicians is everyone's first mistake.
Agreed
@commonwealthflipper Love your content btw. Especially the garage sailing/ sourcing videos.
Obeying their decrees are their 1st mistake 😂
It amazes me how certain people don't realize how tariffs work. Great video. I see resaling going up because people will relize how much it effects regular businesses.
Right? They don’t want to know. They hide that information in plain sight.
How do tariffs work?
I'm old enough to have seen, and realized, CYCLES. We are always going to go through CYCLES. 'Have faith, and keep on keepin' on! 👍
I have faith that the reselling business will continue on an upward/downward back and forth. Thank you for your time!
I tend to agree at least in the short term it would give the secondary market a large boost

I've heard on TH-cam that 2 people got fired, because the business is getting ready for the tariffs 😢😢
You navigated that beautifully….and your knowledge and distinctions are helpful and spot on. Keep on doing YOU!!
Love your explanation of things, yes, I agree with everything that you said and I’m not even a seller. I’m a buyer. Thanks for your show and thanks for your information. Have a wonderful holiday. Send love from Northern California.

Good morning.
Thanks for your insight. Definitely not unsubscribing. Love seeing the turkeys at the end!
You could say you voted for Kamala, Trump, or a Squirrel. I'm not here for your political views rather your kindness and good reselling.
I voted for Honest Tim. LOL

Not as much derrrr. Looks at the real numbers ya propagandist
2% 😂

I don't entirely disagree with this. I still think any tarrifs would be limited in scope and purpose. I could be wrong though.
It’s funny how bias people are solely on politics . It’s silly . However if it generates sells i fine haha

The tree sign? Cut to pieces of card board to the size of the sign plus half and inch. Place the sign between the cardboard and tape it.

How else do you think Walton got his mammoth corporation Walmart started in the first place?
Earn fiat money and then exchange it for hard assets. That’s how to win.
I agree
" I don't think it can get much worse."
Do you remember the 80s?? It was much worse then. And of course the 30s, but not many people left who remember the Depression. And then there's Germany between the wars... Please don't tempt fate by saying it can't get worse.
Check out the Supreme Court case about the reversal of the chevron indifference. It happened this year. Those regulations have been lifted per there ruling
Just underscores the importance of congress not voluntarily ceding it's own power to government agencies that change with the wind and usurp power that isn't theirs. Ambigous laws are the devil's regulatory playground.
Let’s tally every time he mentions his history teaching and or baseball. I just like tallying those up sometimes.
It that was a drinking game, we'd all be plastered 😂
Could be worse. If you were in my history class I always talked about reselling. 😉
I can't tell you how things will go. Most economists I have listened to say if he does what he says he will, then the economy will get worse. I don't think he will do half the things he says he will (what President does? Not everything is their choice)
I do know my sales have gone down since the election.
Ring of Fire sounds like a brand ive seen at Ross. Nice flip for $20+ considering.
I have that same Carhardtt jacket and love it. If it is the same as mine and it is waterproof.
I think the tariffs are more of a scare tactic than anything.
It depends on what happens with Franz Ferdinand
There will always be opportunities appearing and disappearing. Whether or not you adapt is the key factor to your success. For decades, people have continued to claim that "so and so is dying" whether it's a card game, a MMORPG, or a reselling platform. But while some cry wolf, others are finding ways to thrive.
A lot of people are about to have buyer's remorse after voting in a POTUS that has made it no secret that he's going to increase the prices of imported goods, and the price of groceries too. Yes that's going to be a reality if he plans on deporting all of the farm workers who help keep the cost of labor low. FAFO.
You mispelled "following" on your about section of your ebay page.....your always giving outstanding reselling advice, my way of returning the favor 🙂

Kevin good morning 😊😊
Interesting you mention subscriber loss. I watch another TH-camr ENTIRELY different content-he just mentioned Loss of 3-4K of subs- all at once or within days. I. Wonder if it’s a glitch or being done on purpose to content makers. It’s just too strange , can’t be real subscriber dis-interest. ?!
JER?
If you inscribed over this polarized!😮
You won’t lose me. 😊
Pepper shout out, yay👍
Melt down with brother😢
Well. We can agree on the positivity. I don’t know many successful business who spend their time complaining
I'm feeling much more hopeful now than I did a month ago.
Bless the election!😊
Last week was best week in sales in a while and then I fractured my knee so eBay is shut down till I can climb stairs again
Sorry to hear about your knee
@ thanks I need little dogs like yours that don’t plow you down like mine 🤣. I’m already going stir crazy, 11 more weeks with putting no weight on it . Good time to catch up on all my favorite TH-camrs 😊😊
