British and French soldiers have made history by parading together for historic Changing of the Guard ceremonies on both sides of the Channel to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the Entente Cordiale.
In Paris, British soldiers took part in a guard ceremony at the Elysée Palace, while their French counterparts became the first non-Commonwealth troops to take part in the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh inspected UK and French troops on the forecourt of the palace during the event to highlight the close ties between the two nations.

The national anthem of France and Great Britain was being played I hope the police made the people stop walking in respect to the national anthem and the flags of the countries. Here in the Philippines when our national anthem is being played in public the people stop walking in their tracks.

Your observation was mine too; contrast, the splendour and dignity of the ceremony with the lumpen masses, beyond the palace gates, wandering around with their hands in their pockets 😔

We Franco British actually joined forces in the Crimean War 1853-1856 against the Russians for the first time.
We most likely Colonial Empires, fought to one another for a Thousand years since the Hundred Years War
It’s a good thing that we’re now allies’ putting aside our differences and work together

An excellent showing. However, and this is down to the Metropolitan Police, the crowd should not have been allowed to walk past the open gate to the forecourt whilst the two National Anthems were playing. It showed disrespect.

@@Dodger0103 I get your point. Unfortunately, this lack of respect starts in the home and school. Many times when someone is told not to do something maybe by a Police Officer it is the first time they have experienced this in their 'entitled' lives.

Much more spectacular event at Buck House than the Élysée, with suitably much larger crowds. The one French win was the formal dress, including white gloves, of the French police on crowd control. Proper Guards band versus French bugles? No contest. The Republican Guard detachment had some women on parade but scant evidence of diversity.

Since terrorist attacks the street is mostly “barricaded” and not many people can walk as it’s narrow and the sidewalk next to the palace is only used by police forces.

Some of the same people cross the gates and then come back again to cross the gates - obviously taking photos is their aim. otherwise would they walk across one way and shortly after come back again from the other side. Always holding their cameras above their heads. Selfish. The horses should be used to brock them from doing this - on either side..
