Duke of Kent Hands Over MAJOR Role to Prince Edward

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 1 ก.พ. 2025
- This was the incredible farewell the Duke of Kent received as he made his final visit as Colonel of the Scots Guards today.
Edward, Queen Elizabeth II’s cousin, held the title for a remarkable 50 years, making him the longest-serving person in the role.
He officially stepped down after attending his final Scots Guards Black Sunday parade in Westminster.
The 88-year-old will be replaced as the head of the regiment by the Duke of Edinburgh.
The Duke of Kent said he was “delighted” that Prince Edward will continue to “champion all that you do and work towards preserving your great legacy”.

Thank you for your service, Sir. You made the RF and the UK proud❤.
He is from a generation that we will never see again.....honor, duty, and respect. God bless you sir!
My thoughts as well
Having lost his father young he was walking behind the coffin of his uncle George v1 back in 1952
Yes he is I suppose the last one left from that time
Prince Phillip and Queen Elizabeth now gone
I think also of Duke of Gloucester getting on now
🏴🏴🏴
Yes & Amen 😢
@jeannelederman8992 I understand and appreciate your sentiment and your reply, but I can not agree with you because 'Amen' means 'coming into agreement with', and 'let it be so.' We need more respect, honor and dignity in this cesspool. Now that I can say Amen to. I appreciate your reply 👊

Bravo to the Duke of Kent..you have served your country, your commissions and the Monarchy with never failing dignity,,,thank you . Congratulation to Prince Edward, The Duke of Edinburgh, who I believe will continue do serve as Colonel of the Scottish Guards with the same dignity and dedication.
The Duke of Kent served in the Scots Guards for over 20 years
he left Sandhurst in 1955 and retired from the Army in 1976
so they would have been been so proud to have him as their Regimental Colonel
l like the Duke of Edinburgh, but l don't think he's suitable for a Military role
our late Queen did her service for our country in WWII, her father served in WWI
our King served in the navy and commanded a Minesweeper
he also learned to fly jets in the R.A.F and flew Helicopters
The Duke of Kent's father was killed in a plane crash in 1942
serving our country
The Duke of York was in the Navy 20 years and served in the Falklands War
and there are others
and l know if Anne had been allowed to serve, she would have done well too
but Edward could not even complete his training and he QUIT
Excellent.
And very well done.
Thank you.

The Duke of Kent, called "Steady Eddie" for his steadfast service to the late Queen, and now the King, will leave large shoes for Prince Edward to fill. I can think of no better example of duty and loyalty to the Crown and country than his life.
He's held the title of Duke of Kent for 82 years, inheriting it at the tender age of 6. What loyalty!
The Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh doesn't need to fill anyone's shoes as he is a higher-ranking royal and has his own legacy. He need only do a good job fulfilling his duties and representing them as is required and expected of him now that the role has passed on to him, but he's not assuming the DOK's position in the RF, just this role and maybe others.
