Hello John, thank you for your very kind comment but let me tell you something regarding military bands in general. I find the King Guard Bands absolutely better than their french counterparts. For instance, when they are at Wellington Barracks preparing for Guard Changing, the band plays various music pieces with a great talent. I heard there "Love is in the air", or "Delilah" and even the theme of Rocky in St. James Palace. Beside this, they play beautiful english military pieces while marching to BP without to forget the role played by for instance SDM Gareth Chambers who personnify the British Pride at its best. Definately, the British are by far the best, take only the Trooping the Colour ceremony, no troop can beat them with their perfect drill. I'm french and I find the music played by the Garde Républicaine boring because they play always the same. Well, I must confess that I'm also a die-hard anglophile... Have a great day John, keep well!

I most like the Legion with that long slow pace ... I tried it myself and it's not as easy as it looks to outsiders.

When I was in service, I had a colleague who had been transferred from Berlin, Germany (Allies Occupation Forces) to my regiment based in France. I will always remember him when he said: "I've seen the Russians, I've seen the Americans but the Brits, my God, they are by far the most impressive". @@Laurent-Raggos Thank you for your kind remarks. I did a three week course (decades ago now) in France, it involved a few ex-French forces guys and several ex Legionnaires as well. I noticed that the aircraft we were using (Dragon Rapide) was perfect three points landings every time (before lunch). After lunch the port wheel touched first, then starboard, and with a few interesting moments it all came together. That's when and where I developed a love for the French and their red wine.

I think it's because there is much less ceremonial when it comes to the President compared to the kings, like it's no comparison. I'm pretty sure no tourist has even heard that there was a changing of the guard in Paris.

It's the street where the British embassy is, so security is tight & there isn't room for large crowds.

It's a weekday so that would be automatically less people as most would be working, except for tourists. Also, I suspect that few people even knew that this parade was taking place as there was no publicity beforehand, which may have been a security measure to minimise crowds, I'm not sure.
