Crazy, most of us have only ever seen this sort of thing in various Television shows and films, so to see the real thing is quite wonderful from a historical perspective.
We’re the first to ever witness it. This is the first time in history it has been televised or made public. For centuries, the privy council did this behind closed doors. We are witnessing actual history, it’s remained preserved and unchanged for centuries. We are seeing and hearing what was seen and heard when King Henry VIII succeeded the thrown. Just think about that for a moment.
@@dWFnZWVr What I find amazing is how they know and execute this so perfectly. The Queen died on Thursday with little time to rehearse such a ceremony… Truly amazing
Even if you're not a royalist, you can't help but be astonished that these are centuries to millennia-old traditions, that are seen once or maybe twice in people's lifetimes. The uniforms might be a bit modern (18-19th century) but the proceedings are almost exactly the same as those of medieval England.
Remember respect is earned, not inherited - no one choose where they were going to be born, their race or social class. Do not give respect and show privilege to someone based solely on a unearned randomness of birth position. Give respect based on merit of goodness of one’s character.
I was 12 when Queen Elisabeth II ascended the throne Now, at 83 I am witnessing the ascension of a King, Charles III. As an American, I am not a "royals" follower, but these events are deeply emotional to heirs of the British people.
I was 16. To finally see a king be throned is something I never thought I would. Long now has the monarchy been a unique and often unheard source of ruling, and in which such a lady at work, her majesty, had been...shall we now have a stable and wealth in economy and survival enough for her son to take the throne and hopefully have little issue in keeping the pride of Britain, a noble and moreover generous one. They wen't through so much hardship in the 1940's on top of the great depression... The queen represented what a queen was in the past, rebuilt society and listened to every long since taken ruler and citizen, on their opinions. Reminds me of when Eisenhower's inauguration, a man mostly against war and hostility, rather providing needs for the people and for ingenuity, a bright future that the world was looking toward by 1953-4.
It so fascinating to think that this is the first time that the public has seen the entire ceremony.I know that there is archival footage from when Elizabeth became Queen, but to see inside the palace and the inner mechanisms of proclaiming the new King was a privilege to witness.
Gonna be honest, it's a bit surreal. You never think about these sort of beautiful things happening in the modern world. But I am very glad to live in a world where monarchies, and all of their splendid ceremonies, are preserved despite the intense change undergone by the world.

@Inere Kazu That's not entirely true about Japan. Many records were lost in the 1400s so a lot of Japanese history before that point is more myth than fact. Japan may have a single running bloodline but proving it is a different matter. England itself is at most 1200 years old and Britain is only around 300 years after the act of Union. England of 1000 years ago is very different to the Britain of 300 years ago to which we are most closely related.

My late mother told me that the USA saw the proclamation of her becoming Queen Elizabeth a few days later on our family's grainy black and white t.v. The film was grainy as well and it wasn't the entire proclamation . Just the gentleman making the statement. This was 6 years before I was born. My mother said that the King's funeral and the Queen's coronation were all grainy footage as well. We are fortunate to see this with clear sound and images. Farewell to HRM Queen Elizabeth.
The proclamation from the balcony has been recorded and broadcast before but today was the first time cameras were there to record the Accession Council meeting and the Monarch's oath.

I'm an American, and a family friend collected really high quality portraits of Queen Elizabeth and gave 3 to my folks as wedding presents (his collection is now in a British museum). These things hung in prominent places in our home in a rural dairy farming town in Wisconsin until I was in my 30's so I saw them all the time every day for half my life. I always felt she was somehow symbolically, unofficially, a maternal part of the family but also because I was kind of impressed with and proud of how she conducted herself as a monarch and did her job - kind, gracious, professional, the 3 D's - duty, devotion, discretion, her staying in England and her conduct during and after WWII, etc. Old fashioned, universal values and kind of a grandmotherly demeanor. I also, unrelated, share her name and her daughter's first two names. So just, weirdly, just always felt a strange connection. And I'm not even a monarchist and feel for the colonies and India, etc (centuries of human rights abuse and $45 trillion+ in looted resources, the kohinoor diamond, "jewel in the crown", Egyptian loot, the Elgin marbles, etc) plus I look at all the pageantry with mixed feelings - cool and interesting but a little strange and "a lot" at the same time! 🤔😸 And at the same time, recognizing that ceremony, rituals, history, traditions, etc all play an important role in a culture. And of course, the unofficial family link to my own! 😹😜😹

It won’t be that big of a deal by then, though. Depending on your age, by the time you have grandchildren, there will already be a new monarch. The only reason this generation is seeing this for the first time, is because QE became queen so young, and lived such a long life. That will likely never happen again, at least not for quite some time. What is actually historic is the idea that we will likely never see another female monarch for several generations.

It's been a long 246 years since the United States hasn't had a monarch, but the respect and reverence for our friends across the pond will forever be there. The same sun shines on us all.
For me it’s very robotic and soulless. Its mechanical and lacks culture and beauty. Just like the county itself.
But each to their own.
The pageantry and traditions that come with this tradition are simply remarkable how it hasn’t changed for over 800 years
Crazy, most of us have only ever seen this sort of thing in various Television shows and films, so to see the real thing is quite wonderful from a historical perspective.
Exactly 💯 you really get a point dear,, please can I wise up more from you,,
Well the English public pay for it do the may aswell enjoy the show!!🙄🙄
We’re the first to ever witness it.

What I find amazing is how they know and execute this so perfectly. The Queen died on Thursday with little time to rehearse such a ceremony…
Truly amazing
Even if you're not a royalist, you can't help but be astonished that these are centuries to millennia-old traditions, that are seen once or maybe twice in people's lifetimes. The uniforms might be a bit modern (18-19th century) but the proceedings are almost exactly the same as those of medieval England.
That’s what I find so cool about it. We’re basically watching something that happens centuries ago in real life. It’s crazy.
Remember respect is earned, not inherited - no one choose where they were going to be born, their race or social class.
Do not give respect and show privilege to someone based solely on a unearned randomness of birth position. Give respect based on merit of goodness of one’s character.

Ascension ?
It so fascinating to think that this is the first time that the public has seen the entire ceremony.I know that there is archival footage from when Elizabeth became Queen, but to see inside the palace and the inner mechanisms of proclaiming the new King was a privilege to witness.

That's not entirely true about Japan.

And at the same time, recognizing that ceremony, rituals, history, traditions, etc all play an important role in a culture. And of course, the unofficial family link to my own! 😹😜😹

@Matias D.C That's standard. His coronation will probably be next year when he is crowned King. The accession has to happen straight after death.
The antichrist doesn't have a heart.
@Matias D.C "Do the Math, connect the Dots"?! How about "Do some Research and learn the Facts"?
It has nothing to do with any Sort of "They wanted her out". That´s plain Tinfoil-Hat Bullshit. These Ceremonies weren´t planned month Ago. They are part of "Operation London Bridge" better known as "London Bridge is down". This specific Plan regulates what has to happen in which Order, when the Queen dies, including Ceremonies, Proclamations, the Lying-in-State and the Burial. Operation London Bridge was established in the 60´s, and not a few Month ago. Also, neither the Country nor the Commonwealth can be without a Leader, therefor they have to "Rush" the Proclamation of a new One. Yes, Charles automatically became King at the exact Second his Mother died, but it still has to be officially/formally Proclaimed anyways.
@Matias D.C bud, I recommend you study the Bible before throwing out asinine statements like what you've just said. These plans have been in the works for years. Do you really think the Brits expected Queen Elizabeth to live forever? Also, God is a proper noun, you blabbering fool. Silence yourself and your foolish thoughts. No one poisoned the Queen, and God doesn't ask us to sacrifice our firstborn son.

Honestly, I didn't think it could happen. It seemed that Elizabeth would rule forever. But, unfortunately, such a fate awaits everyone, it has always been like this, and the Queen is no exception. Of course it's a pity. On this day, everyone mourns, even the Russians, including me. Hello to all those who read this comment. Rest in peace, Your Majesty.

So not to be the pessimistic American, but I wonder if Brits really know the history of the monarchy. If they knew the subversive and eugenesis / Nazi leaning of these folks would they not throw them out. I believe that they (Australia, Canada and UK ) are under some nostalgic spell while we Americans that forefathers fought for the very republics and democracies that we enjoy today look at this with consternation and bafflement.

This is like a trip down the medieval lane... Just incredible!
@Matias D.C firstly, these things always happen immediately after the death of the monarch, it is tradition. Secondly, the Queen was 96 years old and had numerous health scares, she certainly wasn’t assassinated.
"This is like a trip down the medieval lane". Indeed it is. Just ask the guests of the Tower of London how their trip turned out.

Never have we seen most of this action on TV when late King George VI died and Queen Elizabeth II, may she rest in peace, ever before.
This is the first time we’ve seen this for a king.
I wish our King Charles III all the best.
I'm an American but my relatives all hail from Northern Ireland. I'm a big believer in tradition. Tradition, whatever tradition that is, gives people stability and comfort in their lives. And this is the granddaddy of all traditions.
As a 70 YO American, I shall not witness anything like this again in my lifetime. This is historic and I wish to savour every minute, such as this Proclamation
Who knows. Charles is close to kicking the bucket as well
King Charles is older than you are. Charles is the one who will never witness another proclamation.
I'm an American but I feel so connected to this. My ancestors on my father's side were Irish (meaning they came from what is now the Republic of Ireland), so they departed for America as British subjects. My ancestors on my mother's side were mostly English. In fact when researching my family tree I found out that I am distantly related to Anne Bolyen and Queen Elizabeth I. So likely my distant relative had this ceremony for herself when she became queen. Rest in peace Queen Elizabeth II and God Save King Charles III.
I'm sure you do🤡
amazing how everyone is related to Anne Boleyn
Now that is something I will love to tell my grandchildren when I'm older. We're witnessing the history before our own eyes.
I don't even have any kids. Thank god
Chances are william will be king shortly.
Kids I was there when a useless head of state ascended the throne of an obsolete form of government with its members paid for by the taxes of the people
@@Team_Carrot amazing. YOu know when Charles is going to die?
At the moment in my mind, I’m again sitting on my father’s shoulders on the day of Her Majesty’s Coronation. As she stepped from her carriage, the joy of our people almost drowned out the peel of the bells.
