    I've got an appointment in mid April. Looking at the July 2023 TSB and the new document you uploaded, there is a new ROM for the ICCU. The ROM ID for the July 2023 update was ENE1E3-IDS11R000 and the new one is ENE1E3-IDS13R000. So this isn't just a shift from "service campaign" to "recall", but actually includes new content. Fingers crossed this is the end of the issue!!

    Thank you Ioniq Guy! Your Videos are excellent. Full of accurate and up to date information. Based on your information I ended up with a VW ID 4 instead of a Hyundai. The day I picked it up Hyundai announced a recall of 146,000 EV's to fix loss of power. You had covered the issue several times in the months leading up to the recall. I'm loving my German engineered EV made in Tennessee.

    My appreciation for IoniqGuy cannot be understated. Thank you for this video. I checked my VIN on 24 Ioniq 6 purchased in Feb 24, and yup - says the recall is issued. Hopefully it's just a software update than cracking open the back seat. My worry is when they do that, new creaks and noises will be audible.
    I've been enjoying the solid silence driving the Ioniq 6.

    Thanks for the video and info! Our 2022 which had the ICCU blow last year and was in the shop for 6 weeks at the time has now been in the shop again for a just under a week. The warning of Check Electrical System came on while wife was driving last week and she took it immediately in as this was the first error we got prior to full blown ICCU loss last year. Turns out this time is apparently a water/coolant pump issue but I will certainly be calling tomorrow to inquire about the Recall 257! (and to have a serious talk about them taking it back). This is in Canada.

      This also happened to our 2022 Ionic 5. The dealer had it for 7 weeks, and initially claimed they had no loaner to offer us. Finally after 3 weeks, we did get a loaner. The dealer claimed they could not get the parts. When we finally got it back, they issued us a check for 2 months worth of car payments, since we couldn’t drive our car for that time. Since then, we have not had any issues with the 12V battery, but do have issues with the port overheating, especially in hot weather. So frustrating. Will this recall address that at all?

    I’m suing Hyundai USA over my ICCU failing last year - exactly one year and one day after I bought it new. It was at the dealer for two months before the part arrived and it qualified as a lemon in NJ after 20 days. They’ve stalled for months. I wonder if this is one reason behind it, other than them having crappy customer service. It wasn’t until I hired an attorney did they start taking my case seriously. I’m aggravated that I have to bring the car in again to sacrifice more of my life to this car. I was planning on keeping the car but I’m having second thoughts.

      Exactly why I addressed last years ICCU update immediately. Getting the latest check today. It’s a pain but in light of your two month part saga I’ve gotten off easy. I’m going to keep a J3400 inlet version if it charges as fast as this one. Coming up on a year and my fourth dealer trip for the previous TSU’s. 🫤 I’m glad they are addressing these items but hope the future is a bit quieter.

    My 2023 Ioniq 5 went in for a recall last month. You would think that this issue would have been addressed then. Needless to say I was stranded in the middle of the freeway. Luckily, it provided enough power to get me to the side. Pretty damn scary when the average speed was 70 MPH and car's top speed was 25 MPH

    My 22 had iccu and VCU updates over last summer. The evil dash light was turning on much more than I remembered in the first year of ownership……
    As soon as they did the updates, the 12 V died and they said it was a phantom drain and I changed my Hyundai Bluelink password and stopped allowing recurrent energy and EV energy to ping my car and they replaced my 12 V and all has been perfect for 10 or 15,000 miles until today.
    The weather started warming up in Connecticut and this afternoon I was cleaning the car and after about an hour and a half in the driveway, it would not start.
    AAA came in 15 minutes and jumped the car and I drove it to the dealership and did a DC fast charge for free from 30% to 80% and spoke to the service folks. No ability to look at it now, which I figured. No loaner cars.
    12 V was at 65%, I believe, when I first got a jump this afternoon and by the time I finished charging after I driven to the dealership - It was up to 82%. By the way, the evil light is on right now.
    I was having charging issues lately (over the last six months) and had scheduled to charge 80% overnight and one night it got to 44% and stopped and another night it got to 72% and stopped and another night it got to 60% and stop in another night, it got to 58% and stopped, no rhyme nor reason. I’ve Been choosing to charge at 60% of my 9.2 KW available on my level two juice box 40 amp…… My charging port went over 219°F at 9.2 KW. It gets real toasty.
    Funny that Before the 12 V death this afternoon, this morning, I went to my new dealership in Fairfield Connecticut and scheduled the recall for Monday.

    My 2023 Genesis GV60 just had my ICCU fail on July 4, 2024 @ 19,273 miles. Heard a loud pop in the back and immediately knew the high voltage fuse broke. Ran my OBD reader and found the 9096 error code :( Sad times. The ICCU update and fuse check recall I did two months ago didn't really prevent this from occurring.

    I was in a small accident the end of January. While trying to get my 5 in for repairs I got the warning described. The collision center at the dealership had my car fully repaired then discovered that the new battery won’t hold a charge. The ICCU in my 2023 Ioniq 5 failed 10 days ago. I had the car almost exactly 365 days and had only 4200 miles on it. I managed to drive it slowly home from a few miles away. I sent a note to Corbin and he correctly guessed, as I had, that it was the ICCU. I had to have the car towed to the dealer through Hyundai's Assistance Program -- please note, important if you have a failure: only SOME Hyundai dealers have trained techs for the Ioniq 5. Call first to make sure the dealer to whom you tow the car can actually do the repair. It sat at the dealer for a week until BOTH parts -- the ICCU and the fuse -- arrived at the dealer. It's worked fine this week. Nonetheless, if this fails again, I will be livid, and demand some sort of trade-in for a different car.

    Great timing, had appt today for 15k mile inspections, cabin filter replacement and tire rotation at the single Genesis EV service location in WA. So they are doing the software update and ICCU check at the same time, and I won’t need a second trip. Service guy wasn’t thrilled about having to check all their inventory, but says so far most are fine after the SW update. His fear is having un sellable inventory waiting for parts behind existing customers, but so far it’s been good.

      My 12V battery died on me unexpectedly. At the dealership when they couldn’t find any logs and were testing it and it happened to them with the on the dash low-voltage message. The diagnostics for the 12Vpassed, there were no log entries of the failure they were witnessing and the voltage on the battery was at 7 V in that order during the failure. So yes, this latest logic update is, I hope with fingers crossed, closely related to the reporting of my vehicle dealer reported issue. I would have yours checked to make sure it is the latest because there are nine older versions which is on pace for about one a month.💡

    Well, sadly, I've had the recall 527 software update done on my 2024 Ioniq 6 SEL AWD, and still my 12V battery drain problem persists. ARGHH! My current plan is to buy a battery booster (jump starter) to fire it up on the next drain, which is inevitable. Hyundai seems totally stymied by this issue, so I will wait it out and live with the inconvenience (for now). I love their vehicles, and our household has owned many. That may come to an end if we don't get an answer soon!

    I had an appointment for service today, and they updated the ICCU software today on my 2023 Sel Ioniq 5
    I'm still have the issue with my navigational software that it's not displaying the arrival SOC anymore. It stopped about 3 weeks ago, and Hyundai USA didn't have a clue and said that my local dealer should be able to handle that. However, the dealer couldn't fix it either. They were told by their service desk to install the new navigational update, and they did, but still no joy. I suspect they just reinstalled the OTA update back when, that updated the navigational software that allowed me to start using the navigational system to begin with.
    But no joy on that issue.

    Fyi, yesterday I had and appointement with my Hyundai deal to fix this recall in Canada and just a few hours after, I got back home and plugged in on my level 2 charger. Within 45 minutes of charging at 9,4kw/hr , a message came up in dashboard saying it was droping charging speed at 5,4kw/hr to prevent over heating…
    So now the situation is worse than it was before I got in the dealer to fix the recall.
    Very dissapointed.

    Thank you for consistant quality of your video clips. Big fan. Questions on recall. Is this just a few glitched ICCU units they can now identify with their upgraded diagnostics before they actually fail on the road, and then replace with a new, but same, ICCU unit off the shelf? But are these new units all just "pre glitch" and just as exposed to whatever occurance trips the glitch code they are scanning for? If the internal circuitry of the "new" ICCU units hasn't been changed, I'm worried the software patches might be solving the "problem" just by changing the charging speed. Another way of putting the question is are the 2025 ioniq 5 ICCU units the same as the 2022 and 2023 versions? Only with software adjustments? Or has there been an actual structural improvement in the internal electronics? I have had no problems with my ioniq but have only rarely used my level 2 system at home. I have a electrify america Level 3, 1 mile away, which I can use 1/2 hr per day for free. The problems you had charging before, was that just with level 2 at home? And with your total tear down, and rebuild of your on board charging port, that fixed your problem somehow. Do you think that could be the actual problem that leads to the "glitch" that eventually can result in system failure? Would all models share the same concerns because basically they all share the same electrical internals, or are there significant enough differences that it is apples and oranges? I don't want a fix that slows down my charging speed. Is that concern unfounded? Do you think it likely that most of the ioniqs are fine and will never have a problem, or do you think I would be foolish not to get the upgrades? I was going to charge at home for a few weeks on the level 2 and see how the chips fall. If my charger ever shuts down due to over heating, I would take that as my glitch warning and head to the shop.

    Corbin, your video mentions a replacement of the cooling fluid. Is this the same procedure that is required every 3 years/36,000 miles for the Ioniq 5? If so, this would reset the clock on that replacement, right? Trying to find a silver lining here. Also, I read the TSB notice, found 10 different spelling/grammar mistakes that a simple review/edit could have caught. Sheesh.

I asked the salesperson and he found out that it happens but could not explain because it’s electrical or technical. Is this a glitch that can affect the battery and eventually cause damage and become risky to drive? There is an issue in your opening statements in the video. **IF** you have the recall performed BEFORE you have an ICCU failure then get you get the updated software. Check. HOWEVER, that also means the recall is NO LONGER OPEN on your vehicle - it has been completed. That means IF in the future your ICCU DOES FAIL IT WILL NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL! HM will deny warranty coverage if the vehicle is out of warranty. It is up to you to decided whether or not to have the recall performed. I personally have NO plans whatsoever to get this recall done unless I absolutely have to - IE the car has to go to the dealer for some other warranty concern. Then they will automatically do the recall as required by law. But I will resist as long as possible because as long as the recall is OPEN then my ICCU is covered for free replacement if it fails out of warranty. If it fails IN warranty - then I get a new one and the updated software. Another note - it's very unlikely the switch to NACS will require a different ICCU. They may update the ICCU for OTHER reasons, but a NACS connector on the other end of the wiring harness is not going to be one of them.

  • @cindiilg3545
    @cindiilg3545 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    another thought: With Hyundai going to an NACS telsla charge port in 2025, could that, as an accidental bonus, actually address the real issue? I'm thinking of how ioniq guy somehow fixed his overheating problem by reassembling his charge port. Were all the cars with this 12 volt charging problem initially having overheating problems? Curiouser and curiouser

  • @Rafiq07
    @Rafiq07 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It sounds like the Kona isn't affected by this. Does anyone know why that might be the case? The Kona also has a 12v battery and ICCU doesn't it?

  • @JamesJDempsey
    @JamesJDempsey 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If the charge port overheating can possibly contribute to the ICCU failure, then it might be a good idea for those of us with L2 chargers to turn down the charging from the maximum 48a/40a levels.

      The ICCU handles many items in the vehicle when it comes to managing the electricity. If you want to be super fanatical about charging, you always charge, especially overnight, at just the fastest rate necessary to reach the desired charge. There’s no sense rushing to your desired targeted percentage that it arrives at two in the morning while you’re sleeping and it sits the rest of the time. Cooling failures with the ICCU have to do with the liquid management during charging though I have not read if it’s just AC or DC or both.
