      I have Anne Pro 2 (60%) and made my Caps Lock work as FN button. Caps Lock + WSAD as arrows and + X as Delete (also +Space as enter, +Z as backspace and +Tab as original Caps Lock). Honestly I find this even better than full size keyboard, everything is right under left hand and there's no need to lift right hand from the mouse.

    Nice review. Just wanted to point out that people don't have to spend a lot to get some very decent switches. Gateron switches are a big step up from Cherry MX. I recently put some lubed and filmed Gateron yellows (linier like reds but with a bit more actuation force which makes it a better experience for typing) into an RK61 and the results have been excellent. I paid just £14 for 66 of them on aliexpress, £6 for films and £5 for Krytox GPL 205g0 lube which I already had from a previous build.

  • @jostar9854
    @jostar9854 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Nice one, might pick this up later on once I can get it in a UK layout, just to dabble with swappable switches. I find having the arrow cluster on the IJKL keys really convenient, and have slowly got used to using them that way.
    The only thing I would suggest for anyone with a 60% keyboard struggling, or wants to give 60% a go, is to swap the FN key with the caps lock key, and add the modifiers (alt, ctrl, shift) to the ASD keys on the FN layer. For me this works pretty well, and a lot more comfortable as the default FN location on most 60% I don't find to be ideal. For the Caps Lock key which I rarely use, I just mapped that over to the application key (which I never use).
    Anyway, I went off on a tangent there as this is barely relevant to the video, but hope it serves some use to someone.

      I love thoccy/low pitched switches on their own, but I’ve found that they’re unusable for me when put in a lot of boards because I simply cannot hear the switch itself. An example would be the kbd67 lite or ikki68 aurora with a pc plate, as those two with their playes and silicon mute the sound way too much. The muted sound is great for silent switches, or louder/higher pitched switches as it even out their sound profile. I put Tealios and Mauves in my ikkis and snow whites and ice candies in my 67 lites.

    Looks like there will be a few ISO versions, which is a huge selling point. There just aren't that many affordable hotswap ISO boards bigger than 65 percent. If you go the custom board route you'll often run into problems when it comes to dealing with taxes and the customs office (at least here in Germany), that is if you're even able to find cheap but decent quality ISO keycaps. YDMK seems to be a cost effective option but other than that I can't think of many

    Hey Optimum and other keyboard fans,
    Sorry if this runs slightly long, but I just had a question about the Ducky I recently purchased with cherry brown switches. I wanted to feel the difference between those and the Glorious Pandas (which are coming in today). I use this keyboard primarily for gaming, and I went back to a keyboard with cherry blue switches and loved the tactility of them. So I thought that a tactile switch would hopefully give me some of that nice feeling and feedback without annoying the hell out of my mates.
    With this keyboard and I'm fairly new to tactile switches, I'm having a problem with some switches actuate in game. I first noticed it with my D key. I wasn't moving right with the key pressed. I played around with the switch and noticed it wouldn't actuate half the time if I didn't get it past the bump on the upstroke. I changed the switch out for another and haven't noticed a problem with my D since (no pun). Now I'm starting to have the same issue with my W key. I play a lot of Apex, so you could imagine how jarring it is to think you are moving forward, but you are standing still eating bullets from hungry preds who just want more kills and to rain on your short gaming session.
    I was wondering is this a problem with tactile switches. Do I always need to get it past the bump on the upstroke? I don't have this problem (yet) with A or S or any of the other keys I spam like inspect while running. It just feels very odd for the key to be bottomed out and not have it actuate. Either way I'm hoping that I solve this issue with the switch swap. But if this is a some what common feature of tactiles, what would be your go to linear?

      TKL < 60% with arrow keys. If this keyboard had arrow keys near the bottom right instead of perhaps a right alt button, and moving around some of the punctuation keys it'd be perfect. TKL somewhat horrible imo. Not only does it have F keys on top but all the extra wasted space on the side near all the home row keys and arrow keys. The form factor is quite literally a chopped full keyboard. If they thought about the design of TKL a little more I'd like it but it's just a chopped full keyboard with no added thought or anything of the sort.

    So I have always gotten razer keyboards as a young gamers. Then I moved on to corsair. I have the K65 and the Mk.2 but there was something to be desired for sure. Now I was torn between the GMMK PRO that would take more work and this Ducky one 3 SF. I ended up with the ducky and I have to say I am thoroughly impressed with the quality compared to what I had. I am excited to swap the switches as well and check that out. I could see myself possibly starting a small collection of keyboards that I enjoy. as for a daily driver I am very happy with this keyboard. if the TKL was available locally I may have went that route. but SF is really sleek and compact. the only reason I would get a TKL is just for Prt scrn... the tilde key and the longer right shift key very minor things that I am sure I won't miss very much.

    For 60% keyboards I just set the CapsLock to the Fn key and use CapsLock(FN)+WASD as arrow keys. Much better than physical arrow keys in my opinion. But it requires the keyboard to support that function, so it needs to be programmable in some way.
    I started with the Pok3r (by flipping a DIP switch) to later Anne Pro 2 and Niz Atom 66 EC keyboard (flashes the controller with a software). Maybe the Ducky One 3 Mini also has a similar function? A lot do nowadays so I wouldn't be surprised.

    Put foam below the keyboard itself. Like on the desk. Probs the sound will be less noticable. Cos the board could be just a bit uneven and could cause one corner of it to just constantly hit the ground + compensation of sound even more is good, cos vibrations move through everything.

    yeah I personally find that the 60% is perfect for gaming. I liking having more room on the right for my mouse. I have a keypad that has my arrow keys page and delete on the left. I don't really use the function key that much except to hit the F keys. If I was playing an MMO that used a lot of F keys I would just use a keyboard remapping software to make the number row the f row and the numbers can go somewhere else like my pad to the left or my foot switches. I always switch my Caps Lock to an extra Fn Key on my Ducky's since I never use caps lock.

    You can actually use the macro feature to replace the bottom right keys with the arrow keys, thats one of the reasons arrow keys are included in the box.

    • @skytreegirl6929

      How? The ctrl fn can be an arrow?

    • @n.r1151
      @n.r1151 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@skytreegirl6929 Yes, you can replace any key with a keyboard macro so if you hit control it will be the right arrrow key and then replace the key cap with the arrow key. Check the macro instructions in the keyboard manual.

    Any chance you could test the steelseries prime? Specifically the click latency since i've heard some people say the latency is fairly high which sounds unlikely on an optical switch

  • @agentytur

    It would be a cool idea for a barebones keyboard but not with north-facing rgb. Most of switches have a problem with cherry profile keycaps when it is a north-facing rgb

    Serious question, can you do a review on the performance of the Razer huntsman v2? The one with the optical keyboard with the 8k hz polling rate.

    When you said that the ducky one 3 mini was better then glorious, I was thinking that you were talking about the standard GMMK compact/tkl/fullsize. But it also has hotswap, case foam, an aluminum and plastic case with 2 heavy internal weights?

  • @Lyxess

    I got a Ducky One 2 mini and switched the keys a little and put the Fn key right next to the space bar. So now I can just hit the Fn key with my right thumb and don't have to move my hand when I need to use the arrow keys. At first it was so weird not having arrow keys (it's my first 60% keyboard), but now I almost prefer it this way.

    I want them to make this but with a low latency wireless option! I do most of my gaming on an HTPC and with little kids I don’t want wires. I have the Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed but I hate the switches and don’t want to risk damaging it by soldering on my own.

    Goto have a numpad. How else do you quickly input number codes to sites and log ins?
    I could understand a 60% back in the 90s when LANing was a thing. It's been dead for 15 years though so who doesn't have enough desk space at home for a full sized keyboard?
