  • So what did you think? Does this keyboard THOCC with all the mods or does it sound creamy? Either way, I really enjoyed doing this and the end result was better than I expected! That said it costed about as much (with all the mods) say as an entry level custom keeb. So whether or not its worth spending the time money, is your choice. something i would have done is gummy mount the standoffs since its a tray mount. gives it more of a gasket feeling and also acts like a force break mod in this case. also the silicone plate dampener would be absorbing a lot of the sound so using it might be a detriment to sound depending on what youre going for

    I bought the TKL version of this keyboard and put in Glorious Lynxx switches. I lubed them myself and they do make the keyboard sound much better. I also had trouble putting in my own foam piece under the pcb. The case just wouldn't close. Thinking about buying another version of the keyboard and painting it. I do think eventually Ducky will provide us with an all white and all black One 3 keyboard, BUT I JUST DON'T WANT TO WAIT! THIS KEYBOARD IS SOO GOOD after mods.

I’m just worried about the problems it’s been having; as a newbie, I don’t know how I’d fix that. Any thoughts or recommendations? do you recommend getting this or getting GMMK, asking as for the base and build quality and modding options?
    both are available in my country and GMMK is like 15$ cheaper coming with gatrreon brown ( i do have a set of otuemo red) vs the ducky coming in cherry red
    which do you think is a better option to have for beginner moddiing experience?

    • @pickbrandon5583
      @pickbrandon5583  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for watching! First off, I think you should consider which keyboard fits your preferences more, as the GMMK is a 75% board with a volume knob, and this particular Ducky one 3 is a 60% layout, so there are some trade offs. If you're not concerned about the direct F-row and you're okay without direct arrow keys, then the ducky is the way to go. Also, there would be (arguably) less modding work put into the Ducky as there are fewer switches needed. Hope that helps and good luck dude!

    • @ibrahimmohammed3484
      @ibrahimmohammed3484 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pickbrandon5583 Oh sorry i actually meant the old gmmk, not the v2 or pro
      it's very similar to the ducky, i need to have a decent keyboard as a base for future upgrades so i need good keycaps, stabilizers and base
      i don't like that ducky is all plastic, gmmk has aluminum
      i don't like ducky colors
      gmmk has APS keycaps vs ducky
      ducky has foam and rubber
      i can sacrifice the look but can't make up my mind which would be a good investment as beginner base
      gmmk is 15$ cheaper, i wonder if you have both the keyboards to help me decide

    • @pickbrandon5583
      @pickbrandon5583  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there thanks for watching! So MX Browns and Reds have the same actuating force of 50G. However, the Browns have a tactile bump that you can feel while pressing the switch down which can result in a slight scratchier and louder typing sound in my experience. • @pickbrandon5583
      @pickbrandon5583  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately not! The Ducky boards use plate mounted stabilizers, not screw in (like Duro0k V2s), if you were to get any Ducky board, you'd want to mod and at least lube the stabs because stock, they rattle. SO, although it is cheaper to get the Ducky one 3 mini because it is prebuilt, if you get the GMMK pro you're getting more for the price as its customization, quality, and overall features are better. And I encourage you to adventure and try it if that is the one you really want, don't settle for something because it might be "easier" because that is subjective honestly. Plus, its really not that hard to do mods to a keeb, and they're tons of videos to help you get started. I wish you luck my friend, thanks for watching!

    • @pickbrandon5583
      @pickbrandon5583  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man! Always a good question to ask, so the Ducky one 3 PCBS allow for 3 or 5 pin switches. The first thing you want to decide is if you want: linear, tactile, or clicky (wouldn't recommend personally). I recommend looking at Cannon keys: cannonkeys.com/collections/switches or Divinikey: divinikey.com/collections/linear-switches and just look at the switches they have available. From there you can find one you like based on type/color/name/price or whatever interests you about the switch and maybe look up a sound test on YT to see if you like them or not. Start there my friend and best of luck!

    • @pickbrandon5583
      @pickbrandon5583  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SO, this has come up in many reviews with the most recent Ducky boards, and I myself have experienced this on occasion much later after using this keyboard. I don't know for certain, but there could be an issue with the diodes (helping flow of electricity) in the WASD area of the board. Seeing as your W is still actuating, I doubt it is a problem caused by the switches and or the hotswap sockets. In my own experience, I have tried removing the switch and putting it back in, which seems to temporarily fix it because a few days later it started happening again. I don't know how long you have had the board, but I would reach out to the vendor you purchased it from and inquire what they can do for you. You might want to consider returning it if you can 🤷‍♂️

    Great video but I don't think you clipped the stabilizer legs properly. I don't have the board but they look flush to me before you ever clipped them. You're really just looking to see if they have the 'shock absorber' prongs that are meant to flex when the stab hits the PCB. Not all stabs need to be clipped. In fact, none that I know of except for cherry and cherry imitations need to be clipped.

    • @SkimoStories
      @SkimoStories ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, your 'bandaid mod' is called a holee mod. Bandaid mod is when you place something (usually a bandaid) between the stab and plate to make sure they don't rattle against each other. Almost like the same concept as films for switches

      To each is there own! This was my first "big" upgrade in keyboards, so it meant a lot to me at the time. Even if something isn't perfect doesn't mean you can't enjoy it still :)

    Also sehr schön, dass man sich beim schmieren soviel Mühe gibt, aber es ist komplette zeitverschwendung. Beim Auftrag soviel Zeit zu vertrödeln, einen gleichmäßigen und glatten Auftrag erreichen - wofür? Das Fett verteilt sich bereits beim ersten Tastendruck genau dorthin wohin es soll. Einzig die Menge ist entscheidend. Ob da nun das Fett aufträgt wie Van Gogh oder präzise schnell die Stellen abgrast ändert nichts am Ergebnis. Zumal in der Industriellen fertigung das ganze Mithilfe eines Schwamms aufgetragen wird. Bei einem Pinsel benötigt man schon viel mehr Zeit und Gefühl um die Menge zu kontrollieren, gerade bei Nidrigviskosem Schmierstoff. Mit einem Schwammpinsel geht das ganze schneller und wesentlich einfacher.
