  • The new 2023 Ford Everest is now available in South Africa and I spent a month and 4 000km with it over the festive season. I tested the Ford Everest Platinum flagship, powered by a 3.0L V6 turbodiesel engine with 184kW, and priced at just over R1.1 million, without a service or maintenance plan. Ford claims the new Everest is now a Toyota Prado rival and not competing with the Fortuner. Is this just wishful thinking or justified? Let’s find out!

    The front left and front right park sensors only detect objects within 25cm. That is far too late to stop in time if there is an object you were not expecting. The design states it will notify you when objects are within 60cm, but that isn’t achieved in real world tests.

      That is very kind thank you. To be honest I'm not a music aficionado so am the wrong person to ask. My teenage son, however, thinks it's very good.

    Thanks for an excellent review. Sad to see the SA version of the vehicle not the same as the Australian. Some specs missing, matrix led lights, etc. wish the SA reviewers of the vehicles would point these out.

    How's the driving experience and fuel economy with the 2.0 biturbo engine?

    • @Hannes_Oosthuizen
      @Hannes_Oosthuizen  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've just had the 2.0 biturbo Sport, and the gearbox does hunt a bit more to find the power. And it lacks some features, obviously. Still a a very pleasant car.

    bro, I am confused bw this platinum and everest sport - what do you recommend ? Its 10k expensive in OZ.

    • @Hannes_Oosthuizen
      @Hannes_Oosthuizen  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not driven the Sport sadly, and in SA the Sport is only offered with the 2.0 Biturbodiesel, and the Platinum only with the V6. So I guess it comes down to how much you want/need that extra power. Personally I think a Sport will do the job!

      @@Hannes_Oosthuizen oh ok, we have sports v6 in australia. I can opt for a 360 touring as well to the sports version. where we are getting some features of platinum. The only missing feature is matrix LED and panaromic roof from platinum, else I wont buy that. But after adding the touring, its 7k difference. still its a win. 79kA$.

    The fuel efficiency is concerning, they should install the 2l bi turbo in the platinum version of the Everest

    • @Hannes_Oosthuizen
      @Hannes_Oosthuizen  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say that might very well happen in the future. But there's no arguing about the appeal of the power in this V6.

    Ford Everest platinum fuel consumption in real world 14.5 l /100 km a far cry from the 8.5 l as claimed by Ford and the demo car at the dealership was showing 13.5 l per 100 kms ,on average 35% more than other vehicles in this segment
    I have proof ,why not show the read outs in reviews,why don’t we get honest reviews

    • @Hannes_Oosthuizen
      @Hannes_Oosthuizen  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure if you are agreeing with me or saying I am not honest! I think I was pretty clear that this car is way thirstier than Ford's claim. And that is with an "efficiency minded" driver behind the wheel. I wouldn't read too much into dealership demos, those cars do short trips with drivers who want to feel the power.

      @@Hannes_Oosthuizen no kidding. I’ve only ever had a used vehicle My wife’s Tahoe is the newest vehicle I’ve ever bought with the lowest miles and we bought it as a repo it’s a 2017. That’s even scarier but your interest rate is usually nothing. Ours is 1%. People just need to learn about vehicles you don’t need to be a mechanic I always take rigs to a real mechanic too I got a pretty good idea usually but a professional you trust is the way to go Anyone who is against you taking a vehicle to a non biased mechanic you should walk away from.
