Is this a long term fix? I have an 87 D250 with the 5.2L 318 engine. Alternator wasn't charging the battery, so I replaced it. It still wasn't charging the battery, so I installed a new voltage regulator from eBay. That didn't work. I took both alternators to get checked. Both are good. I'm hoping this will fix it, but wondering how long is it expected to last.
I’ve seen other guys put the black wire where the regulator mounted.
