@@iteachairframepowerplant Everything was normal, the engine showed nothing. Only thing I noticed was a drop of engine oil after every flight that progressed to a few drops and I think we found the culprit. 😕
So that smaller nylon gear you see at 1:50 on the left is $180 cdn. So that’s about $132 US. Unbelievable. The points are also ridiculously over priced. They are shooting themselves in the foot by gouging people to the point that they kill general aviation.
Good video, very helpful. Could be helpful to display voltmeter/ammeter settings when in use to display what exactly is being checked. Great job on video!
Thank you so much, very good video .
Thanks! 😊
Very nicely done. I'm currently learning about these in A&P class and this has been a wonderful help!
Thanks! There's an awful lot more to the magneto, I'm glad this "excerpt" was helpful!
Welcome! Glad it was beneficial!❤️
wow.. that means fingers off for me.. only specialist on this ancient "clockwork"..
Yep, they are still in use. They're almost like a Timex - takes a licken and keeps on clicking!
Flathead screw and points.
Stuck with 50’s technology?

Plastic gears? These things are a deathtrap.
🤔
Most excellent! Thanks.
Just sent mine in for a 500 hr. O.H., they found both mags had cracked cases😮
Wow...could you tell before removal? Was the engine performance poor or unnoticeable?

Thanks this is very helpful for me as I'm new to the aviation community.
Welcome! I will eventually post more that are relative to obtaining the A&P licenses.

Try Aircraft Spruce pricing...🤔
Slick mags are throw away, one run mags. I have rebuilt 100 or more Bendix 200 and a few 1200 series mags.
For training purposes, we tear down for inspection, timing, reassembly, and functional test.
Slick magnetos are not throw away after one run magnetos. 500 hour inspections can be continued indefinitely. They work fine if properly maintained.
How to check the primary and secondary coil readings would have been very helpful, thanks for posting
Sorry. I'm in-work on an update!
Good info 🫡
Thanks!
