Steiner DBAL D2 unboxing 2023
Looked for a long time trying to see what actually came inside the box on a Steiner DBAL - D2, So when I got mine I decided to make a bit more in-depth and to the point video than what I had to sift through to not get an answer.

Tractor sat for many years outside in a fence row, I saw it for 20 years growing up as a kid and until I was an adult. Went and made an offer on it and took it home for a song, this is the culmination of many months work getting it broken free and brought back to being operational again.

If not its not gonna work.
When you put the black little box back on the back, you gotta bend the terminal so that it dont touch the orange wire terminal and only the green wire side only.
I broke mine.had to solder it
Lol broke the 4th wall.
I just wanted to take a minute and thank you so very much. I just got a job dling just this on fertilizer equipment and it all works the same but now when they go to do the safety shit ill know what im doing directly. I havent found this anywhere so frfr truly ty. You saved my life atleast some time. And time is most important. Thanks again 😊
Isn't there an inner dust cover/gasket thingy?
Que bien jaja
I have that same combo scraper. Works great😂
The amsoil is now available in quart squeeze bags. I don‘t think I spilled a drop! Great video!👍
Would there be a downside to not removing the whole cover and just removing the bottom plug? That way you wouldn't need to remake the gasket.
You can do that, I took it off because I had never been inside this transmission and I wanted to have a look
So ive got a dump truck with the pto and 4x4 and my stuff was equipped on the drivers side.
do you think a 9n would run one of these if i was running small windrows
I was told my dealer to run 75w 85 GL4. Is that ok in your opinion?
GL4 is what is required for it so yes should be fine
Man you really trust that handy man jack without using some type of stand or blocks for safety.

You check it correct, 3 ways to check it...
What PTO is required to run this?
Standard 540
Thanks Pete and Repete. There is a busy schedule in doing what you are doing. With alot of knowledge. Thanks.
My NV4500 and Chevy 5.7 are an awesome combination..... that 6.34:1 low gear combined with 4LO is SERIOUSLY BADASS
Or dump it through the shifter
Thats my exact set too! Is 1st gear with 4 low supposed to be like a crawl function?
Here's video of how low it is when in 4 low..... I've literally gotten out and let it drive itself for hours checking dirt road ditches for arrowheads th-cam.com/video/C9qjC_RiyE4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xZjNYnk1VMg-0p-n
I took outer wheel off put lug nuts on and left them loose about 1/4 inch cut a donut in the pasture going around in. Both directions wheel popped loose.
Thanks:-)
Did it turn into ice
It helps on the big trucks
If I had one I’d coat a little grease around the contact points in between everything….
the plug wire does not go to the mounting that you are testing it goes to the seconary winding --------as the magnet on the fly wheel spins by the coil it creates a voltage in the primary winding now due to the turns ratio primary to secondary coils a high voltage is created due magnetic effect which then the high voltage goes to spark plug -- make sure magnet is good on the flywheel it will grab a screwdriver thats a good magnet sub a coil off a running eng . if you get a spark with a diff coil that tells you ----you need a coil good luck hope this helps.
Your absolutely correct Frank. He should sand the rust off the magnets and the coil, remount the coil with ten thousands clearance between it and the magnets on the flywheel. The way he tested the coil was useless. Just saying.
@@daveschidlmeier6425 Actually, cleaning rust off air gap surfaces is only necessary when setting the air gap because rust will change that gap so anything used to measure or set the gap will be increased. Rust in itself will still allow a magnetic pulse and allow the magneto to produce an electrical charge. That said, cleaning the mounting surfaces of the magneto and the machine will ensure a good ground because rust does inhibit an electrical connection.
@@Rein_Ciarfella that is why I would clean the rust off off the flywheel magnets and coil, to get the proper clearance between the two units. Otherwise the clearance would be larger if the rust was left on.
Is this a long term fix? I have an 87 D250 with the 5.2L 318 engine. Alternator wasn't charging the battery, so I replaced it. It still wasn't charging the battery, so I installed a new voltage regulator from eBay. That didn't work. I took both alternators to get checked. Both are good. I'm hoping this will fix it, but wondering how long is it expected to last.
Yes it should be a permanent fix
Besides piss poor filming you did not follow any of the instructions. Didn't mount the black wire correctly and hacked up the case. I've looked at several of these install videos. You never reported if it was successful. Piss poor.
Sorry I don't have hundreds of dollars in video equipment like you do, maybe you can do it better
The transpo kits are universal, and fit a range of alternators that have similar patterns, the fact that I trimmed the back of the cover to make it simpler doesn't mean anything, and of course it worked, because I followed the instructions, do it yourself or go cry on someone else's video
Just a tip to get 5qt in fill it at the top PTO bolt
Get a air hammer to knock loose all the ryst behind the wheel. They got those rim separater tools tht u can use even on the inside wheel.
I did a through out bearing recently and my fluid leaked out but I replaced it with 5qts of red line mt 85 gl4 and mixed in one 2 qt mtf valvoline synchromesh; then just recently my transmission got stuck in 5th gear with a slight plastic burnt smell and for the life of me I can't figure out what it is so any help would be appreciated
Any idea what happened
@@chastblind7606 yeah I added more synchromesh and it worked fine until it did it again so I took it to the shop and my dual disc clutch was messed up so I changed it for a single disc heavy mass and it works like a charm 👌
@@chastblind7606 oh and I changed my gear oil to amsoil now mint now👌
Mine just got stuck in 5th gear. Now I realize my truck has been putting itself in 5th even if I put it in a different gear. I don't understand how. But it is.
@@letsgetit3310 i don't know if this might help you but there are 3 or 4 ball bearings that sit behind the gear selector in the transmission that are spring loaded that could be faulty or it could be your forks are worn out and your 5th gear is your only one in good condition; But somebody can correct me if i'm giving wrong advise or can give clearer advise ( shade tree mechanic here)
Didn't follow instructions.skipped final step and didn't tell you this isn't for efi vehicles.
Second gen cummins isn't efi but ok lol
A coating of anti seize will help prevent that in the future
I put it on the hub face but never on the lug threads
@@imi1667 A little dab on the threads will help prevent the threads from galling or the nut from seizing on
Great video thanks
Dosent seem very efficient
Would it be possible to get a blue flame out of that thing
I was just fooling around more than anything, yes if you tip the LP tank on it's side and feed it liquid it will significantly increase output, disclaimer "don't do that"
Thanks for the video. I too use that gear oil RTV and that stuff is incredibly strong. Getting stuff back apart when that stuff is on it convinced me.
I’ve seen other guys put the black wire where the regulator mounted.
What are the torque specs please?
I'm not sure, It really doesn't take alot, I did "sorta tight and a quarter turn"
@@imi1667 so like 1/3rd farmer or 1/2farmer?
Aww man you didn’t show how to get the last quart in by taking the gear shifter off
I took out the highest bolt of the pto cover and filled it to 5 quarts there. I also used a little hand pump to pump the oil in
Always enjoy a good how to video.
Excellent!! Glad I found your videos! You should use SMZeus . c o m!!! It will help you get your videos into the suggested feed and rank better in the search!
Great tutorial about specific oil needed. Could you tell me where you purchased that oil. Thanks
You can buy it right off the amsoil website
I installed 2x and it didn't work..put my ground in a different place tho
Did you read the install instructions? I believe you may need to swap the two wires the go on the block
@@imi1667 yes i did they send instructions with it
Did get it working though right?
@@imi1667 its charging but not like it should im just going to replace my computer
