Was in Long Beach for my wife's outrigger race and looked up and saw your advertisement flying by... Told her "I watch his videos on TH-cam already!"
Awesome

I like how David does a lot of the work himself. He's probably a great boss.
TY
You are a good teacher. Your compassion for your work and letting others know how you do the job shows your teaching aptitude.
Thanks
I didn't realize that
There's millions of videos on how to pour a concrete garage floor but I bet there aren't many on how to pour concrete colored red!!! Wow good thing you stepped up to the plate!!
Awesome job. I wish concrete guys around where I live would take the time to do quality jobs this this one. You guys are true professionals.
TY
There usually is, but people always go for the cheaper guy.
That coloured concrete looks really nice, I'm surprised that you don't get more calls for it on patio jobs to be honest. Thanks as usual for sharing.
Me too
TY
Most concrete plants charge a clean out fee for colored concrete pours. Because if you went to pour a driveway with no color and it turned out pink from leftover dye you'd be upset. So they have to deep clean each truck you use to remove and extra color.
@@wesleypayne1846 wow, didnt knew about that. Thanks.
@@wesleypayne1846 The concrete plants in my area have dedicated trucks for colored concrete. Usually it's an older truck getting close to being retired. Colored concrete isn't all that common here but it's becoming more and more common every year. Earthtones are the most common.
@@mikel9567 yea we used to hardly see it here and now a other job is for color concrete, even i did my carport, garage and side walk all in color. only the pool deck was regular concrete which i painted with street print paint lol
I have a lot of respect for a boss / owner that's a hand's on kinda guy . One who gets out there, an works with his crew ! Great job , great video !
That's the trick.
TY
Something very satisfying about watching concrete jobs start to finish
I concur
There’s something about the homeowners when they come out to watch, 99% of time they’re drinking a coffee and one hand in pocket.
You never know
My concrete contractor didn’t realize I was watching when he dumped a load of gravel trying to change the 6” slab I paid for into a 3” POS. Imagine his surprise when I busted him.
Not me, usually I help out
@@tasobouzinelos8027 and you shouldn’t. nothing drives me more crazy when a homeowner tries to help…the best way they can help is just stay out of the way
@@landonmorel3715 No contractor has turned me down from helping them, besides I’m the one paying them lol
Beautiful! I also appreciate the real-time shots of you and others working the trowels and floats. It gives me a better sense timing and coordination. Thank you for your excellent video!
You are so welcome!
You make me want to become a concrete contractor. I did my own driveway with a 8 bag mixer I got for free and restored. I loved the process. Doing it commercially looks rather gratifying.
yes it is, go for it
David Odell with the sweatband on....no moisture imperaring the vision....taking that wire clasping seriously....Great Demo, loving it!
Secrete stuff
Damn. A contractor that goes the extra mile and patches some drywall. Incredible. Fix the roof too?
A little bit of everything
DAMN. If I were the customer, I would be ecstatic: You and your team did a great job. Thanks for the video. I look forward to seeing the sealer application video.

I love watching craftsmen work. Made my back and knees hurt just watching. Hats off to the people who do this work
TY
100% right with your diagnosis of the old slab's issues. I nodded and smiled when I saw the load of sand. Nothing nicer to grade than sand also
I concur
TY
I really respect your craftsmanship - keeping and raising skills in the construction trades. Working colored concrete is a new one for me. There are lots of good jobs out there for people who are ready to learn and work. I thought it was funny the way you described the yellow trowel as "made somewhere in Mexico." A few years ago I went to the Marshalltown factory hoping to find an outlet store. No luck with the store, but I could hear the workers talking inside. Hablando español. We should probably just add Mexico to the United States and complete a marriage that's already happened.
Yes, I think incorporating all of central and south america would be good, One United States of America.
Dang! Guess there was no building inspector when that old floor went in! Fail; Fail; Fail!!! Where I am you wouldn't get away with putting rebar on the base either, has to be lifted to make sure it's encapsulated. But the nice new floor should far outlast the old skimpster! I agree, the double cut looks better than the standard grid. Nice job.
I used to watch a lot of the "Best in the West" videos but got a little fed up with the constant arrogance of the guy and how he's is the best and everyone else is doing it wrong! Refreshing to see yourself just get on with the job and explain why you are doing it the way you are without ramming it down everyone's throat how brilliant you are. If someone is really that good then other people will say it and you don't have to. Great job well done!
I concur
TY
The understanding and craftsmanship that ya’ll have with concrete is incredible… Nice Job Indeed!
Can’t wait for the sealer video. Nicely done, crew. 👍
It is a real pleasure to watch these jobs come together. Great work as always. Thank you for showing us how it should be done.
Our pleasure!
I currently buid bridges, I do a lot of concrete work and I constantly watch this videos for tips and trick, Every time I watch one of these makes me want to come work with you! great videos and awesome quality
TY

Nice job. No corners cut, clean and efficient work. Great job laying it down and not splattering it everywhere. And no red hand marks on the walls.
It can be a mess sometimes.
TY
One of your best vids! Thanks for sharing the info about laying down integral colored concrete the right way. The timelapse of the guys on the sliders really shows how it's done, and the side by side with the Makita and hand tool was great. BEST channel on the Tube!!
I concur

Very good channel
David, you guys make it look soooo easy! A true professional, and a really good teacher to boot. Thank you!

Another video where Odell Complete Concrete shows its true colors, great project - you revealed so many tips and tricks here, thanks for sharing
Sure it's a tricky business.
TY
Nice to watch!
I have been looking to buy in the Tulsa, OK area and there was this one contractor that had a whole neighborhood development to build. He poured the stem walls and then, after passing the slab rebar inspection, pulled it all and went to the next home.
That entire neighborhood cracked during a rare earthquake in 2013. My boss's house had the entire center of the home drop 6-8".
Wow, that's tough to pull off without lining some pockets
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Right?!?!
The Makita tying tool gun is so cool! Will speed up future jobs! Good post!
I think so
TY
i can only imagine if he had 2 or 3 of em too would make the job fly by
Thanks for sharing these stuff. Learning lots. Appreciate your time putting this together.
It looks super nice, so much nicer than just a regular boring concrete.
I concur
TY
Your saw cuts are so nice and straight👍 Really nice work. Can’t believe the finish stays wet looking. That’s pretty cool 🙂
With sealer
Looking forward too part two with the sealer. When I saw picture for the video I though that concrete looked godly. I was wrong. That turned out really nice. Great video. I enjoyed it
Coming soon!
TY
Around my parts, a small pad for a 20' pool was going for 12k... I can't imagine the cost on a new colored garage but man that looks good.
Awesome video man. Looks amazing. You are possibly the only TH-camr I would watch 12 ads in one video and not complain. 🤣👍
I appreciate that!
That is a LOT of VERY hard back breaking work!!! Looks SO simple in a video. My God…Wow.👌
I concur
TY
The rebar gun is amazing we have one and you can tie bar so much faster amazing tool
I concur
Get the extension for it when you use dobies, no more sore back.
@@snettan I seen that a couple years ago at the world of concrete
Any chance you could make a point of ballparking the cost of these jobs at the end of the video? Just helps get an understanding for the cost of different scale jobs!
Yes
Good idea
Only problem I see with that is it be a wide ballpark figure because the same job the price would very widely because cement prices are always going up and down, location some cement prices charge more/less, time of year, different contractors labor rates, etc. It a good idea as long as you realize it a big ballpark
There is something comforting about the Terra Cotta coloring.
yes
such a pleasure to see such high quality concrete work being performed. Quite the opposite of my sorry history with these contractors. But I have no one to blame other than myself; one does generally get what they pay for...

When is Odell Complete Construction International coming by my place to do my driveway? Need you over here in my country David.
Yes I would like to do a road show as well, you could be the first.

@@OdellCompleteConcrete Think this is a really cool concept
Interesting that they aren’t using ear defenders whilst breaking up the old concrete.
What a cool guy!! Honest quality work every time......that’s hard to find these days
That's what I hear

We used to use those single tie wires machines. But now we use MAX Twintier machines. And they are crazy good! Ties so hard, very good for big big rebar jobs.
I would to try one of those
Vcs são top verdadeiros profissionais
Essa máquina é top
We poured a fire station floor we machined finished it burnt out floor then sealed it with a red colored sealer the darker spots made the foot look like marble beautiful finish
Sweet
It still amazes me how you guys out in America use concrete has a decorative finish in neighborhood areas. In the UK it is often seen in commercial areas but rarely in neighborhoods. We predominantly use tarmac.
Concrete is more money but lasts 2-3 times longer and less maintenance.
Concrete is the way to go for long term maintenance free
Dave , I am your super fan ! Thank you for sharing . And, I am appreciate if you have time for answer few of my questions here .
Does it give more substrate controls without out compact the sand , wet the the sand before pour in the concrete ?
And was there a reason for not putting those 2” block under the Rebars ?
Because I have seen you doing all of those progress in others foundation videos .
Thank
Sand was very thin.
Water would have laid on the plastic.
Pump hose, Dobies, and foot traffic doesn't work with this size reinforcement
Just curious here why you didn’t compact the ground on this job?
We did, but I think we missed that on camera
@@OdellCompleteConcrete I figured y’all did but wasn’t sure since I didn’t see it. Not sure why but that’s one thing I enjoy watching, specially when y’all go in circles until y’all reach the middle.
You're right @nel del. Just look at the caterpillar tracks and small crushed concrete rocks around it at 5:45 and 5:48.
Unless compacting was done before the raking 5:37 :D
Best part is anyone can use this tool. Even if you've never tied rebar or worked with concrete before.
Exactly, now you’re as fast as the best of em.
Right on with the rebar tie gun. We got a pair a few years back and we never want to go back. That thing is gonna spoil you. Great job and awesome video!

I wasn't sure that I was going to like the red but boy that is gorgeous.

Great to hear you mention Roseburrough tool. RIP Jack Roseburrough. Interesting he was born in Marshaltown Iowa
Yes it is Interesting
Saw your banner behind an airplane over the weekend at the beach. Made me smile! lol Thanks for the vids
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks great. It seems like cleaning the concrete truck and pump of color could be challenging… but I can't imagine they use dedicated truck/pump per color so I guess they got it figured out. Sharp work dude, looks sick.
Yes the water has to be disposed of
I think they pop down but it felt good because it feels like warewolf talking in the movie 🍿❤❤❤
Wow that rebar tying gun is a time saver. Almost as valuable as the Veneer but not quite. The floor looks great!
I concur

I install E.I.F.S. in South Dakota, I have found that there is no better trowel than Marshaltown. I even spend the bit extra to get the gold nosed ones, they seem to be a better quality of steel than the black nosed ones.
Marshaltown just makes a superior tool, from the grade of steel, ergonomics of handle, durability of the edge - it's just better.
Yes thats what i have found as well
You gotta love the Odell's family. Greetings from Germany.

That rebar tying tool looks fun as hell 😁

looks GREAAAAAATTT!! Odell, you need to make a road trip to Pennsylvania and do my driveway.
Hahahaa, I laughed about the fibreglass part. You might as well start sporting Fiberglass trowels and edgers, fiberglass screed boards and t shirts too !
