      Most concrete plants charge a clean out fee for colored concrete pours. Because if you went to pour a driveway with no color and it turned out pink from leftover dye you'd be upset. So they have to deep clean each truck you use to remove and extra color.

      @@wesleypayne1846 The concrete plants in my area have dedicated trucks for colored concrete. Usually it's an older truck getting close to being retired. Colored concrete isn't all that common here but it's becoming more and more common every year. Earthtones are the most common.

      My concrete contractor didn’t realize I was watching when he dumped a load of gravel trying to change the 6” slab I paid for into a 3” POS. Imagine his surprise when I busted him.

    You make me want to become a concrete contractor. I did my own driveway with a 8 bag mixer I got for free and restored. I loved the process. Doing it commercially looks rather gratifying.

    I really respect your craftsmanship - keeping and raising skills in the construction trades. Working colored concrete is a new one for me. There are lots of good jobs out there for people who are ready to learn and work. I thought it was funny the way you described the yellow trowel as "made somewhere in Mexico." A few years ago I went to the Marshalltown factory hoping to find an outlet store. No luck with the store, but I could hear the workers talking inside. Hablando español. We should probably just add Mexico to the United States and complete a marriage that's already happened.

    Dang! Guess there was no building inspector when that old floor went in! Fail; Fail; Fail!!! Where I am you wouldn't get away with putting rebar on the base either, has to be lifted to make sure it's encapsulated. But the nice new floor should far outlast the old skimpster! I agree, the double cut looks better than the standard grid. Nice job.

    I used to watch a lot of the "Best in the West" videos but got a little fed up with the constant arrogance of the guy and how he's is the best and everyone else is doing it wrong! Refreshing to see yourself just get on with the job and explain why you are doing it the way you are without ramming it down everyone's throat how brilliant you are. If someone is really that good then other people will say it and you don't have to. Great job well done!

    Nice to watch!
    I have been looking to buy in the Tulsa, OK area and there was this one contractor that had a whole neighborhood development to build. He poured the stem walls and then, after passing the slab rebar inspection, pulled it all and went to the next home.
    That entire neighborhood cracked during a rare earthquake in 2013. My boss's house had the entire center of the home drop 6-8".

      Only problem I see with that is it be a wide ballpark figure because the same job the price would very widely because cement prices are always going up and down, location some cement prices charge more/less, time of year, different contractors labor rates, etc. It a good idea as long as you realize it a big ballpark

    We used to use those single tie wires machines. But now we use MAX Twintier machines. And they are crazy good! Ties so hard, very good for big big rebar jobs.

    We poured a fire station floor we machined finished it burnt out floor then sealed it with a red colored sealer the darker spots made the foot look like marble beautiful finish

    It still amazes me how you guys out in America use concrete has a decorative finish in neighborhood areas. In the UK it is often seen in commercial areas but rarely in neighborhoods. We predominantly use tarmac.

    Dave , I am your super fan ! Thank you for sharing . And, I am appreciate if you have time for answer few of my questions here .
    Does it give more substrate controls without out compact the sand , wet the the sand before pour in the concrete ?
    And was there a reason for not putting those 2” block under the Rebars ?
    Because I have seen you doing all of those progress in others foundation videos .

      Sand was very thin.
      Water would have laid on the plastic.
      Pump hose, Dobies, and foot traffic doesn't work with this size reinforcement

      You're right @nel del. Just look at the caterpillar tracks and small crushed concrete rocks around it at 5:45 and 5:48.
      Unless compacting was done before the raking 5:37 :D

    Looks great. It seems like cleaning the concrete truck and pump of color could be challenging… but I can't imagine they use dedicated truck/pump per color so I guess they got it figured out. Sharp work dude, looks sick.

    Wow that rebar tying gun is a time saver. Almost as valuable as the Veneer but not quite. The floor looks great!

    I install E.I.F.S. in South Dakota, I have found that there is no better trowel than Marshaltown. I even spend the bit extra to get the gold nosed ones, they seem to be a better quality of steel than the black nosed ones.
    Marshaltown just makes a superior tool, from the grade of steel, ergonomics of handle, durability of the edge - it's just better.

    Great look. Try using a dust Deputy with your shop vac. The dust will collect in the DD and will keep your filter in your shop vac cleaner and last longer.

    Time served plaster here in the uk used mt trowels from day one they are one of the best on the market use a 12'' an 18'' one . Found nela trowels about 3 years ago an there up there with mt ones
