Fun behind the scenes fact. The actor that played the fat dwarf, Bomber, he was put in the back of the line during the bear chase scene but Peter changed out his dwarf boots for running shoes and didn't tell any of the other actors. Peter told him to actually make a hard run for it and pass everyone, so all those looks the other actors gave were completely genuine heh
Fun fact: as far as Lord of the Rings lore goes, Smaug was on the less impressive side of the dragon scale. Smaug was known as the the greatest living dragon in Middle Earth, which is a title he got on technicality because he was also the last living dragon in Middle Earth. In this world's ancient history there were dragons that Smaug pales in comparison to.
When we see Thorin talk to Thranduil he says ''Imrid amrâd ursul'' which translates to ''Die a fiery death!'' But when he later tells the story to Balin he says ''Ishkh khakfe andu nul!'' which translates to ''Pour my excrement on his head!''
People told you that Benedict Cumberbatch did Smaug but they didn't tell you that he is also The Necromancer. The Black Speech sounds extra "icky" because Benedict said the lines backwards and then they played it forward. In the movie they act like Smaug has been asleep all these years, but he wasn't. He came out of the mountain frequently to destroy Dale more and to carry off people to eat, mainly maidens. He was sleeping when Bilbo went down the first time but when Bilbo went back down (not in the movie) he had woken up having felt the breeze caused by the open passage. And the Dwarves didn't even fight Smaug. That change along with the Tauriel love interest for Kili are the two changes I object to the most. Because fighting the dragon was just dumb, especially trying to cover him in gold, the physics of that don't even make sense. A statue melting and him being buried in a couple inches of gold on the floor? Yeah right, sure that's believable 🙄
Hey Kahla! 17:30 Thranduil and some old elves fought against dragons of the north long time ago in Grey Mountains. 33:19 you are the only reactioner I have seen that you take a side of Bard the Bowman. Very clever!
Wish I could put the "it's been 84 years" meme here!! 😂😂😂 I'm glad to be back in middle earth with you!!! I appreciate you waiting for the extended ones.
They scaled up the size of Smaug, he should have been about a third of his size, maybe even a quarter of his size. The age of Beorn is unknown but he died before the War of the Ring. He actually had many animals which aren't shown in the movie, including dogs that could walk on their hind legs, use their paws like hands, and speak. The stand in for Bilbo's double is the actor who play Merry from LOTR, they don't mention it in the special features but you see his face in one of the many segments on filming Mirkwood. The guy in with the eye patch that was part of the communication line spying in Bard was late night host Stephen Colbert.
So, so, SO glad you reacted to one of my favorite movies!! Now onto the next and the last extended versions! This was AWESOME! It's still tickles me to see you react to things I already know what's coming! LOL!! So much fun! When's the next one?? LOL!
The Hobbit has its problems but the depiction of Smaug is great, they got the tone of dragons down pretty much perfect. Greedy, arrogant, self-absorbed, and very dangerous. Also the actor Benedict Cumberbatch is the voice of Smaug, there's some funny behind the scenes footage of him in the motion capture suit doing his lines and crawling around acting like a dragon.
Benedict Cumberbatch plays the dragon Smaug and I recommend looking up the behind-the-scenes footage of him doing motion capture for the movie. It is a hoot to watch.
I love how closely you pay attention, you always pick things up even on first watch that I only get after seeing something a couple times :D I have to say, the Hobbit movies obviously aren't as *good* as The Lord of The Rings--there's a lot of reasons for it and I'm not mad about it, plus it would be hard for ANYTHING to be that good. But I have a hard time thinking of any single scene in LotR that gave me as much pure visceral glee as the barrel scene. It is a delight EVERY time. I also really like the Kili-Tauriel thing! I think it was very sweet and I enjoyed the balance the movies struck of like...they're instantly *drawn* to each other, partly just for the 'wow that person kills things good 👀' vibes but also, like, they can really appreciate the other for how different their life and perspective is. I'm not gonna say it's a romance for the ages but I found the connection very believable and charming.
"He said the last light, does it have to be sunlight? Can it be moonlight?" Kahla five steps ahead again.
3:49 Gandalf - "There is a house....."
Me - "In New Orleans, they call the Rising Sun....." 🎶🎶🎶🎸

😂 Knowing this makes that scene so much better
Actually it was the actor's idea to do that. Because he runs miles every day.
His name is Bombur.

He's not the last living dragon, he's the last great fire drake.

Thanks so much for the Extended version I love your intelligent understanding

😂 It has been a while, but I am glad I was finally able to find the extended versions
When 13 dwarves come out of your toilet, it is very good luck, kahla.
Smaug looks absolutely awesome🔥
He’s terrifying, but he does look cool

The walnut pillow gets me every time 😂😂😂😂😂
Nice to be back where I left off. Seems like a minute since AUJ. But then, I have been on an adventure myself.😃
Fun Fact: Bard's daughters are actually James Nesbitt's (Bofur) daughters.

Watching a good movie and watching your beauty is a double treat.
So much beauty in here...

Smaug: The MVP of the Hobbit Trilogy
Beorn is played by the Swedish actor Michael Persbrandt

Why do people mention that but don't mention that he is also The Necromancer? Always leave that part out.
Can’t wait for the next movie
YES, FINALLY!
Love watching these with you ✌️
❤️
Next The Hobbit Extended Edition Of The Battle Five Armie Extended Edition
Kahla you don't think the Black Speech sounds romantic; all the coolest Orcs speaks it in Mordor.
Not at all 😂
I love how closely you pay attention, you always pick things up even on first watch that I only get after seeing something a couple times :D

The white deer would have shown the right path. Thorin scared there only way out
The extended versions are better in my opinion.
