Aragorn's final words: 'In sorrow we must go, but not in despair. Behold! we are not bound forever to the circles of the world, and beyond them is more than memory. Farewell! (The Lord of the Rings, appendices).
RE: The size of the world - It reflects the writer's experiences, I think. They never think about how things used to be and only draw on their own experiences. "It only takes a few hours to go this far in a car, so it should only take a few days on foot," without considering all of reasons beyond the car that allow for such rapid travel. The roads for one thing and the fact that machines don't get tired for another. Everyone's mashed together because they don't get how expensive travel is and that ethnicities sprang up because human populations got isolated and adapted to their environments and it's only been in the last century and a half or so where travelling further than a few dozen miles didn't represent an enormous investment in time and money for the vast majority of the people. There's also how dangerous travel in general was. These people have no idea how the world outside of their bubble works and it shows. It shows badly.
Thank you for the upload! Considering the elves's age, Tolkien's Galadriel is older than Celebrimbor (he is the son of her cousin) while Gil-galad and Elrond are roughly the same age and much younger (Gil-galad is the grandson of Galadriel's brother (or cousin). Basically they should have represented three generations, but ROP got it all in reverse.
They're doing clips first now, then the full episode later. Critical Drinker style. Hopefully they start just unlisting the original stream, so people can get to it to finish watching the next day.
In the actual lore, the seven and the nine were not created for men or dwarves. They were just created as rings. Then Sauron attacked the elves and took those rings. Sauron was the one who handed them out to dwarves and men.
@@dontbeorbeevil Yes and no. LotR is not in any way ruined by the Amazon show. But the show (and the Jackson films) do really screw up the story and characters of the book.
@@dontbeorbeevil te only saving grace of this show is that it's so thoroughly incompetent and so obviously destined to be forgotten that it won't really do any lasting damage to Tolkien. Ten years from now nobody's going to be debating where this fits within the Legendarium, it's just going to be something all Tolkien fans quote for a laugh.
I am behind on my BSUP, so I am trying to catch up. I had no idea of what Dark Hour had been through this year. Man, I am so sorry, but I am so glad the crew helped you, and you are an excellent edition to the show. Keep them coming!
I saw, "Am I racist," yesterday! It was funny. That last sequence with the "uncle," in the wheel chair was very disturbing though. Those women were real. Not fake.
Ok, geography for Amazon Middle Earth: 200 Elves live in Lindon and Eregion; 200 Dwarves live in Moria; 300 Orcs live in Mordor; 100 humans live in the Southland village. Done. (oh and 30 Rhunish Hobbits [The caravan Hobbits were eaten by a wolf without Poppy to navigate for them]).
...Melkor spent his spirit in envy and hate, until at last he could make nothing save in mockery of the thought of others, and all their works he destroyed if he could. J. R. R. Tolkien, 'The Silmarillion.'
If the only noteworthy property of the Rings are the fact that they are made of Mithril... How powerful was Frodos chain-shirt (you know the one he got from Bilbo)?
Thanks so much for talking about Speak No Evil! I genuinely liked the original a lot. Disgusted but not surprised to hear what they turned it into. Just gross. You saved me from remotely considering seeing it.
Didn't know about this stream until today, but Platoon, Cynic and DarkHour? With Drinker and Echo on as well?! Consider me hooked. Hope I can tune into some episodes live, living in JST doesn't really work well with western time zones 🥲
That is interesting about the Speak No Evil remake because the director James Watkins also did Eden Lake which has one of the darkest most fucked up endings ever. So there had to have been a tremendous amount of studio intervention. I am really looking forward to watching the original. I don't think I could ever rewatch Eden Lake or at least anytime soon but I highly recommend you check it out.
Imagine an alternate history where one of you guys wandered into the Amazon offices on that fateful day, quoted the poem on the Ring (in elvish) and got the job. Just like the two showrunners.
Frieren did it more vaguely, Frieren 1000-1500yrs grow older physically, while Serie probably among the first living beings doesn't, and Kraft looked older than both, with probably around 8000yrs old None of them explicitly stated how old they are but, they either no longer grow old at certain point, or they did and Serie is special knowing she's a walking magic library.
As to Platoon's point about the difference between Durin's and Elrond's perspectives of what the potential end of their relationship means, does anyone think that the show creators had this same intention in crafting that scene? Personally, I think that they stumbled upon that by accident.
2:14:52 - Your memory is bad, Sir Drinker. S2 had the Perils of Kimberly Bauer and the most convoluted single plot line of the series. Seriously, if you skip each and every scene having *anything* to do with Kim, you miss *nothing*!
Morfed Clarke spends the entire time looking like a quote of Ron Weasley talking to Malfoy: “Was that your mum? …Does she always look like she’s got (dung) under her nose? Or just when she’s stood too close to you?”
2:28:37 I remember watching an interview with the producer of the show and the movie. He got called into the head office where he was being asked what the hell and shown the stack of letters of people screaming about them killing Optimus prime. He’s just sitting there thinking well holy crap. We just completed the episode where we turn him into a freaking evil zombie.
Oh, poor Critical Drinker, he has no idea how many things are sandwiches. Hot Dog? Sandwich. Hamburger? Sandwich. Sub? Sandwich. Taco? Sandwich. Burrito? Sandwich. Tostadas and pizzas? Open face sandwiches. They're all sandwiches! 😆 EDIT: Gyro? That's also a sandwich.
@@ChristmasLore Pretty much. I don't think anyone is arguing that a Bahn Mi isn't a sandwich and that's the same format as a hotdog. Besides, there is legal precedence for calling a taco a sandwich in the US.

Appreciate Dark Hour showing appreciation and camaraderie with the group and officially joining the podcasts as a producer.

Uh oh, power outage at Drinker's place? Looks like Starmer's cuts to pensioners' winter fuel allowance have come early...and younger!

But can the Dwarves make Rings of Power Little Platoon???
Do they know about alloys???

9:29 little platoon pretty much said the plot summary for Frieren XD
The unsexy level of Agatha is off the charts. The camp is on the runway boys! 🍸
He did not in fact edit it out later.
Where can you watch Am I Racist in the UK?
Pirates bay mate.

Literally devoid of emotion itself, The ROP is incapable of invoking an emotional response from it's audience.
Frieren did it more vaguely, Frieren 1000-1500yrs grow older physically, while Serie probably among the first living beings doesn't, and Kraft looked older than both, with probably around 8000yrs old

Please remind the Drinker, when he's in Grand Rapids this November, to vote early and often. We could use all the help we can get over here.
Cynic is a bit ambivalent about 'Speak No Evil'.
As to Platoon's point about the difference between Durin's and Elrond's perspectives of what the potential end of their relationship means, does anyone think that the show creators had this same intention in crafting that scene? Personally, I think that they stumbled upon that by accident.

Isildur will still be shown as a boyish buffoon even as he cuts the ring from Sauron's hand. Called it.
Still better than the antagonistic thug Jackson turned him into
the Balrog doesn't have anything on Galadriel 🤣
Great stream fellas keep up the great content
Always a good day when BUSSY uploads.
Alien lip quiver Galadriel
Thanks for the decent spoiler warning as i am watching that film soon as my friends all enjoyed it.
Why is this episode of Open Bar doing being broadcast by someone else? And where is Mauler?
This ep of fnt, sans Gary. 😅
The most impressive thing to me is that you all were able to watch this show. I couldn't make it past episode 1, just like the wheel of time travesty.
Should we ask the good folks in Springfield, Illinois, to solve the great hot dog vs. taco debate?
A hot dog is a form of taco.
Serenity and Firefly are Shiny.
Saying you're doing good doesn't mean you're doing good.
By my count, there are 8 subplots. And 7 of them are aimless.

when do you guys go live?
Mondays at 4pm EST on Little Platoon’s channel.

edit: What movie they should leave alone? Gremlins!
So space marine 2 stream when?

1:38:15 Dark Hour, bad Co-host. We do not look up currencies here we make up funny names for them.

2:14:30 - Season 2 of "24" is where most viewers gave up. But S3 redeemed it. You're good through S6, and if I were you, I'd stop when S6 ends.
