I love this song. When I hear it I think back to when I was just a small boy growing up in West Virginia. My Father was a coal miner, my Mother just a house wife, however both of them were Christians and loved the Lord. I can still see and hear Mommy calling for me to come home and eat because it was Supper Time. Mommy will have been gone ten years on the 18th. of this month and I miss her and Daddy so much. I am 63 now, I will always miss them.
Such a testimony if strength and God's love, I sang at my moms, my dads my sisters, my brothers going home services, takes great courage to honor your loved ones with your gifts ......May we all be joined together with our loved ones one day where Jesus says, no more sorrow, no more pain no more sickness, no sickness , no more parting every again. I've loved this beautiful song since first hearing it many years ago. This rendition is my favorite, George's voice is so comforting.
I am 79, and these lyrics are my memories as a boy in the 40s and 50s. And I know that my mother and daddy are waiting for me there.
My Dad use to sing this to us kids back in the 50's. It gives me "Glory Bumps" to hear George sing it! (and a bit of a tear in my eye)
