When I was 7 years old I came home from school one day and I learned that my uncle died unexpectedly, I couldn't believe it and I didn't want to believe it because he played basketball with me the day before. I knew it was true when I saw the tears in my parents and my grandparents eyes. I graduated from high school a few months ago and I am now in college and I wish I could see him and tell him that I love him so much just one more time. I know he is there in heaven looking down on me and I know that he is proud of me. I can't wait to see him again one day.
never again will there be bass singers like JD Sumner and George Younce. They'd probably be in Heaven's choir by now. RIP JD and George, your legacy will never die in the hearts of believers of Jesus Christ.
I wish I was alive when George was alive I love his singing I wish he was still here to sing but he’s way better off sitting with Jesus himself and I’m glad to say I’ll see them one day after while
I saw him many times with the Cathedrals and a few times when he traveled short trips with his son in law Ernie during his dialysis. No one can sing like him or with as much meaning.
My Dad used to sing this song in church. He grew up in a coal mining town in West Virginia. His Dad was a coal miner. His Mother used to tend to a garden on the hillside. One morning, he woke up and was looking for his Mom. He looked out the window, and saw his Mother there on the hillside, tending to the garden. He felt bad that she was doing this all alone, so he went out and helped her. He was 1 of 13 children, but he wasn't the oldest. Before he was born, he had a brother and sister die in a housefire. Those children hid under a bed because they got scared. Dad's Mom tried her best to get into the house to save them. Her husband held her back because the fire was out of control. All she could do was stand outside and listen to them scream "Mommy Mommy!!" How heart wrenching that is. But...those children are in Heaven. They've been waiting for Clyde (my Dad), Hallie (my Dad's Mom) and so many others. My Dad's sister's name was Margaret. When my Dad met my Mom, her name was....Margaret. Many times, my Dad's Mom called to him from the back door, saying, "Clyde, come on in....it's supper time." I can remember my Mom calling us in from playing to eat supper. Time does pass by...seems so slow when we're young, but then seems so fast when we're older. I wish I could live my life over again. I could have my Mom and Dad back......but they would have only so much time on this earth. I would have to say "goodbye" again....and go through the pain of that again. GOD knows exactly what he is doing.
When he said oh how he would love to hear his mom say those words one more time gave me chills. I know he choked up. Praise the Lord and the Lord shall bless you
I'm 57 years old. When I was 4 or 5, my parents would pull out an old hymn book from the glovebox of our family car and sing old hymns during long trips. One of the songs they would sing is "Suppertime". I would give almost anything to hear them sing together once more. These time are some of my most precious memories I have of my early childhood.
Likewise Bob- also my Precious times, we would drive around after church, just looking at Nature's beauty and Thanking God for the World He created, and We couldn't help but Praise Him in Song
I would love to hear my mom and dad just yell, "Boy, get in here before the boogyman gets ya" (their way of getting their hard headed son to listen to them).
..same here.. I remember my dad talking about how this pulled on his ❤️ strings & how sad he was thinking about his boyhood in Mississippi * I am listening to this right now & feeling so nostalgic and I am about to cry😔🤟🌅
what a great bass George was.. he might not have been the deepest, but in my opinion he was the best.... his deep voice was clear and had the best timbre.
He couldn't sing as low as J.D. Sumner, but J.D. lacked George's tone quality. Those two picked at each other a lot, but they were great friends in real life.
My great great grandma loved this song. She used to go to to big boy and get lunch every Sunday. This would be playing in her car. She loved George younce and Andy griffiths music. She passed away 1914-2014. What a wonderful Godly example for me. I love you grandma I’ll see you again one day! :)
Oh George I new you would be gone someday and I picture you and you Mother sitting around God's table...What a site that would be. I'll listen to your records and cds as long as they last. I still have some old 78's. RIP George, I'm comin soon too.
My parents favorite song! Oh how they loved George and Glenn! Thank you for blessing us with them all these years. My father is suffering from a rare bone marrow disease MDS... God Is His Only Answer! Please pray for him, Henry. He is suffering, so is my mom. We know where he is going to go... he’s packed too George. Love y’all from Gulf Coast Alabama
This song brings back memories of my sweet Mom. She has gone on to heaven now, but I know I will hear her sweet voice calling me to the supper table of the Lamb one day. Such sweet, precious memories of a time gone by.
Beautiful, a favorite of my parents too. My mother celebrates her 90th birthday on 8th June 2020, and us children plan to sign this at her little birthday celebration. To God be the glory....
Every time I hear this song it brings tears to my eyes, cause I lost my grandmother 5 years ago. I know I will see her again when we all gather around that table with the lord himself. Miss you!
My Dear Momma....she always use to cook Sunday Lunches. After Church was out every one always had a good meal made my her. She then would clean up too after every one was done eating. She would have some help once in a while. She also would make breakfast, lunch & dinners, when we had our Camp meetings in the summer time. That was my childhood & I can remember it like it was yesterday. She passed away when I was 11 years old. After that it took many other ladies to take her place. I can imagine her now in Heaven.....making dinner once again. For the Marriage supper of the Lamb, I can’t wait to see her.
God called george to heaven and said you dont have to worry anymore all cares are passed away for its supper time oh hallelujah for its supper time glory to God
Amen! Imagine what the table spread will look like and to be gathered with all of the saints gone on before! I thank God for saving a sinner such as I. I have a place at the table thanks to His amazing love and grace.
I sometimes feel I am too old to be leading praise and worship. This inspires me to keep singing. You are never too old to worship the Lord. Do you know the marriage feast of the Lamb will take seven years. marvellous. Ronsie.
I never had the opportunity to see the Cathedrals live, but I've seen them in several videos. They were a true class act, and they maintained a level of integrity that's rare even for Christian groups. No one sang this song better than George Younce.
I respectfully disagree with you on George being the King of Bass Singers. For me, that Title goes to JD Sumner. Don't get me wrong, because I love George Younce just as much as I love JD.
