Perfect guitar for me. One thing I would change is a reverse headstock. I’m a telecaster man mainly but I always miss the contours of a strat just like this guitar. Beautiful.
Hi. This is a masterpiece worthy of maestro Stradivari. I'm sure Mr. Leo Fender would be proud of you, and your masterpiece - The "DARK BEAUTY", my dear "brother in arms". Best regards from Italy, from an old Telecasterman.😍👍🎸
Thanks Paolo! Hope you enjoyed the video. After I finished the build I wish I would have used a contoured heel plate instead of the blocky one..... Maybe in the future I'll change it lol. I also love Vega trems!!! I've used them in a few past builds. 🙂
I really like your choices here on a tele. Belly cut, some contouring, dark walnut stain, natural finish on the body and neck (smooth un-glossed neck), hipshot bridge & locking tuners. Really nice! I'm going to build a kit (Precision guitars) similar to what you have done here. I'm thinking a Honduran mahagony body and flame maple neck and fingerboard. A subtle yin/yang (dark and light) such as what you have done. Staggered tuners to avoid the string trees. I'm inspired now. Thank you for showing me the way.
Thank you!! Really happy with the choices I went with. Those Precision kits are nice! Very high quality stuff. The flame maple neck is a nice visual upgrade too. Feel free to send some pictures over when you finish it! I also have a full playlist showing the whole build process of this Tele. If you get stuck along the way, let me know. Always happy to help. @@LelleKidd Not for stainless steel frets! This jig not only cuts the tang, it also files it down perfect. With a nipper, you still have to clean up a bit of the tang with a set of files. This jig does it both in one shot which saves a lot of time and produces a perfect result every time.
Thanks DWB! I wasn’t originally but now that you mention it, I do see a lot of similarities! I’ve always wanted to make a rosewood Tele… I’ll add it to the list of future builds 😂. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I know it's a matter of choice but I went through 2 teles that had contours to finally end up with a slab body. I just never liked the feel. Still, that's a good looking guitar. After reading the comments, I can see that there's a lot of people that don't understand what it means to be a Telecaster purist. If I want a 6 screw bridge and contours, I play my Strat. I have a 2015 Deluxe that has circuit board cards. One is for tele circuitry. Like I said in the beginning, it's a matter of choice.
I have Teles with both configs and I gravitate towards the ones with the contours. Most guitars I prefer contours as for me they are just more comfortable to hold and play. I am by no means a purist of anything lol! I have always had modded and unconventional guitar configurations due to my love of building and tinkering. I've always tried to combine the best designs from each instruments to fit my taste. I can respect the purists though! You like what you like. 😊
