Actually not true, I broke a Gibson Les Paul and Tom himself fixed it, and was flawless. It was all for free, and was signed and brought to a meeting to show people how the work is done.
Spectacular!! I have been doing guitar set ups, wire work, repairs and builds for about 25 years. This is a magnificent job. Tremendous work my friend.
That is a fantastic repair job. I've not seen a neck repair done this way before. The care and attention to detail in hand-painting the grain to help it blend in is a nice touch.
I've watched a lot, a lot of headstock repair vids by very respected looths. I have never seen it done like this. Very cool approach and method. Thanks.
"Hand drawing the wood grain" holy moley...way above and beyond. Most excellent work.👍 Everyone that I know whose had a headstock/neck joint repaired has said the guitar plays and sounds better for it. Itd be nice if Gibson/Epiphone offered scarfed necks options from the factory.
Thanks! Well the joint is much stronger after repair but I don’t know if that effects the playability or not, maybe it’s in the finish job and the hand slides smoother on the neck.
I am blown away by the level of this repair, as an owner of several epi's i know where mine will be going if the headstock decides to part its ways with the rest of the guitar. Awesome work buddy 👌
You probably heard me banging my head into my tablet furiously, screaming “what the bloody hell are you doing to that georgous old blonde Epiphone, sir?” I bow to you. A unique execution that no doubt left the neck stronger than when it left the factory! I’m quite certain; the owner cried like a baby when it hit the ground, however I am also quite certain he was ecstatic to see the old girl come home…Good on ya’ and God bless…
I love watching you perform your craft, and I've watched many neck repair vids, but I can't help but wonder why people just don't get a completely new neck rather than repairing the broken one
This is a neck-through guitar, meaning the neck and body are fused together from one piece of wood so you can’t simply replace the neck as you would on a fender stratocaster for example.
Fantastic work. I repaired my acoustic guitar. The neck wasn't completely off, but fractured. Titebond and clamps did the trick. But the labour cost for this epi, here in the Uk, would be around £400 for 3 days. You'd have to love that guitar.
First of all ,awesome job and thank you for the video. Then I bought the same exact guitar epiphone dot 335 ( red wine with gold hardware) 20 years ago on ebay. It had the same problem ,broken neck ,almost in the same position( the weak point of the guitar??) . Now i don't remember who, which luthier repaired the guitar...but unfortunately for me the result it's not the same!! Thank you, greetings from Italy

I know you are..."The Master" but when Appling glue to the block and neck...why do you allow glue to get on the truss rod? Is the movable components in the truss rod internal so glue on the rod makes no difference for future neck adjustments? Just curious. Thanks...Great Work!👍😉
The truss rod works 100% after the repair, done and tested this method hundreds of times. There is very little glue getting in the truss rod cavity which is wide enough that it doesn’t impact the truss rod in any way.
Very impressive, great work for an amazing result ! I have a question though.Focusing on the playability-reliability issues only, wasn't gluing solid enough after the first step of the process ? Did you really need to carve these woood parts and add them to the neck ? The result wouldn't have been as stunning for sure, but I am curious about it.
I watched this video yesterday and it had several complimentary comments in it. What happened? It looks like the old one was deleted in this one replaced it. Either way great video!
Unfortunately I received a copyright claim on it (and another video as well) even though I used a licensed copyright free music, so instead of disputing it and risking receiving a channel strike I’ve decided to re-upload it without the music so now you can only hear the sounds of the workshop (asmr).
@@TON-guitarworkshop Honestly, IMO the sounds of the workshop are way better than music, anyway. FYI, there is copyright and royalty free music avail. for YT videos if you would like music on your vids.
Brilliant repair blending air brush work 👍 The unfortunate thing with Les Paul’s & Epiphone’s are the neck angle to great having these issues & hopefully head stock don’t break again! My idea on top yours is to remove fretboard & route out for rectangular titanium rods each side truss rod deep enough to go under nut through into head stock as much as possible, bit of a job but only way I can think of. I’m making Les Paul soon but with titanium rods & only less degrees head stock angle plus better action like a Telecaster plus other areas Gibson could have improved on. Pick ups I love best on the sound of Les Paul
As it's only an Epiphone, you'd be better off stripping it for parts - selling them - and buying a new guitar rather than paying the price of a repair.
Es verdad, no creo que resista la tensión. Y rebajar la parte de atras para poner un inserto debilita aún mas el mástil. Y sólo por razones estéticas...yo no lo haría.
The glue I am using is 10 times stronger than normal water based wood glue so it holds more than enough and with the reinforcements it is an overkill anyway! Been doing it this way for years and before that my father has been doing it like this for 20+ years and there have been 0 guitars that came back after they have had the headstock repaired.
With the glue applied to the truss rod inside the channel, do you have to mask it out prior to application, or does it allow for the rod to freely turn? Maybe i missed something. But nice work. Attention to detail is astounding.
It may be an instrument that has extreme sentimental value to the owner and therefore the cost of the repair is worth it to them. If this was something my Father passed down to me, the cost of the repair is worth every penny
All the glue inside the truss rod was a little sloppy, Wondering what kind of "white" wood used in the two pieces of the repair. Also in the initial glue up more care should of been used in making sure the two pieces fit cleanly together. No mention of "weeding" out any bits of wood that could of prevented a seamless gap between the two parts. Nice finishing work. You would have to look really close to tell it was broken. Great work.
One of the best repair jobs I have seen, truly masterful work!!
Thank you, appreciate it!
Congratulations on the best reconstruction guitar video I've ever seen. You Sir care about your workmanship. 🇺🇲🥰👍

Making the neck area concave and then gluing in the rounded piece in was brilliant. Awesome job!

If this repair makes financial sense either Epiphone is charging too much for guitars or you’re charging too little for repairs. Great work!
They're breaking inexpensive guitars just to make videos now.

Excellent colour/grain matching.
You recreated even wood texture😱 This is art
When you glued in the patch on the back of the neck, were you worried about glue getting in the truss rod channel and affecting the truss rod?
Nope, after a while you get a sense of how much glue to put on so that it doesn’t squeeze out in the channel.
