I bought a couple of stones to sharpen my knives after years of struggling with dull blades and what a difference. It only takes a couple of swipes to sharpen them. What a delight.
Cabbage went out of fashion in England but is now back popular again. My Mum used to grow them back in the 50s and 60s and we had so much growing up. Its delish
We just arrived back in Florida after some weeks in the North with our kids/grandkids so I had to catch up on your videos! Cabbage!! Sausage!! Peppers!! Onions!! My daughter-in-law cooked a very similar farewell supper for us with these ingredients. She also had a side dish of pierogis. Delicious, and I loved watching you cook it all.
I am a wood carver. My wife has knives she has to watch she doesn’t cut a finger to the bone, thru nerve and tendon, like I did. Her knives are sharp. She never has an issue. Sharp knives are better than dull knives!
I do fried potatoes/onions/smoked sausage and top with cheese. Delish, next time I'll try the cabbage, that looks really good. -- And Tammy I found the Southern Biscuit Flour Biscuit Mix Formula L, in Food Lion in Lexington, SC, Made some today, all I had to add was buttermilk. The amount of shortening in mix was perfect, no measuring or guesswork. I was skeptical, but oh my gosh, they were best biscuits I have EVER made and I've made a lot of biscuits and cornbread in 74 years.. So easy with this biscuit mix. I bought the small serving bag that only made 6-7 biscuits, to see if we liked them, but I tell you they were fluffy and crunchy on bottom, so good. I will be buying this as long as I can find it. Thanks for the video when you showed this. Enjoy your supper with Chris and time with your Dad,
I’m ancient but my knives are sharp! I send them off to Gerber and Sabatier every year and they sharpen for free (I pay postage), then I sharpen my Ulu and scissors as needed at home - Ulus are magical.
Hello from Mocksville, North Carolina!❤ I caught you and Chris (and the pups 🐶 ❤) live this time. I really enjoyed it!! My mother had a few Cutco, and I'm still using them. I love y'all ❤️ ❤
The raw edge of a ceramic cup, plate, bowl and if I am camping the edge of a car door window is beautiful for a fillet knife or boning knife. The window technique is in a survival manual I have from the US military.
I agree with the person who said that it is easier to cut peppers from the inside out because that has been my experience. That's what you need to do if you have a dull knife, which all my knives are 😢
I just made this tonight, and it was delicious! I just happened to have all the ingredients! 😋The next time I make it, I may add a little bit of white rice to it.
The best way to sharpen a knife is to use a whet stone. My daddy showed me how over 60 yrs ago and I sharpen my own knives every day prior to using them. Dull knives equal trouble!
I make this every couple weeks during the summer and fall. It’s so good when I add a 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar to cook the cabbage. I add 2-3 russet potatoes, cubed up to cook up with the cabbage along with corn starch to make a glaze. Another variation is when I add shredded carrots and fennel seed.
All of those ingredients u used I use in a rice o roni chicken dish. I buy a box of chicken flavored rice A roni and add the sausage peppers and onions erything u have here. Some times I will fry some bite size chicken too. But once I cook ur rice in the butter and then u add ur water. Cover and cook for how long the package says. Then when it’s done turn it off and sprinkle some handfuls of cabbage on top and cover the pan and let it sit. Yumo oh
Hey Tammy and Chris. Replay from NC. It’s late but I have trouble sleeping, so I sometimes watch your videos. lol That looks good. I was wondering the name of the recipe and which cookbook it’s in? If you said, I missed it. 🙂
Hi folks! I've started using the smoked sausage in my low country boil. Like it better than kielbasa. For my family our "everyday" dinnerware was Currier & Ives. Still got a few along with mom's special China that I've never used. Paper plates for me😂, less cleanup.
My husband fusses about my knives needing to be sharpened. But he says I do it wrong. I use a Sog too, after your recommendation, Tammy. So, he won’t sharpen them for me, but dose t want me to do it “ wrong”. Haha. I sharpen them now on the sly.
I cooked the exact same thing the other day, minus the cabbage, I used a sweet and sour sauce, over rice, my husbands favorite, he was so happy when he came home, he said he was going to ask me to make it. I like the brand of sausage, cooked krispy.
Tammy, you doll! I adore you. Wish I lived next door to you so we could be besties! Lol. Love watching you cook. I’m young and I love learning from a momma you!
I woulda went to my Daddy's or my Sister's and borrowed some Cornmeal. I'd had to have some Cornbread and Tomaters with my Sausage and Cabbage! That's how I cook my Sausage and Cabbage and add just Salt n Pepper! It's always so delicious! I'm not far from you Tammy and Chris! I'd love to come and visit and meet ya'll. I'd eat the rest of your meal for you. Lol I'm joking! I'd never intrude on ya'll like that. I would love to meet ya'll one day though. Thank you for this video... God Bless. 🙏🙏❤❤
Mr. Chris, Are your parents still with you? Did you take them fishing and/or do any Cooking Videos with them?... hope they are Enjoying their time together with you. We here will Love to see and hear some Cooking videos with "You and Your Parents". May God continue to Bless them always!! You Are So Very Blessed To still have both of them....time spent together is irreplaceable. Have a nice peaceful day!!! Your voice on the videos are great!!!
If available, I buy Fraboni’s Italian sausage and potato sausage. I’m from northern Minnesota and Fraboni’s is on the Iron Range, so called because of all the iron mines. Lots of italian settlers in northern Minnesota and good Italian food. If not available, I recommend Johnsonville. It’s dependable and probably available nationwide. I’m no sure, but probably. I love unsmoked Polish sausage which is delicious and nothing like the Polish you buy in grocery stores which is already to eat. I haven’t had unsmoked for years, since I was young. I make haluska, a Polish dish. You should try it. It’s delicious. NO GREEN PEPPER. 🫑 would ruin it.
Your recipes are so so good Tami. It's like old Southern US Vintage Retro old days family cooking and good memories to reminiss over
You can sharpen a knife on the bottom of a ceramic coffee cup.
Really
When I was a young girl I remember watching my Momma sharpen her butcher knife on our large crock 😊

Well I reckon I did end up hearing what the recipe is ( plus seeing it as the title of the video). Sorry. My bad. 🥴
My uncle was a butcher, and he always said the most dangerous knife in the kitchen was a dull knife.
