I came for some of your delicious fried okra.😊 Can't take even the slightest scent of salmon but your patties look great and I didn't smell a thing 😂. Love watching you cook and your kitchen is so pretty!! ❤
I make Salmon patties at lunch because my son doesn’t like the smell of salmon cooking. Take skin off but crush bones with fork. Good source of calcium. I get my natural vitamins in food as much as I can. 78 and still going strong. We grew up with food from the garden and farm. Much different food available today. Love the fried okra. Fried foods don’t hurt you.
We had a family reunion in Ranger Texas years and years ago and we met up some relatives at an aunt and uncles home, she was cooking okra in the largest iron skillet I’ve ever seen, I think it probably had five pounds of okra in it which she had picked out of her beautiful garden that morning. There were so many good cooks in our family, not so many any more though, lots of the meals families eat now come from fast food restaurants. Okay, I’ve always cooked okra in cornmeal because that’s how my momma did it, but I will try it in buttermilk at least once to see if we like it better. 😊
That stove is awesome. What a beautiful, amazing kitchen. Gas is so nice. You can regulate it. I have only electric and it’s so hard to get used to. Love watching you in your new, beautiful kitchen.
My gma taught us to leave everything in skin-bones- juice etc give it better taste also we used -1/4 flour-1/4 meal-onions-egg-little black pepper…Thx ..Atlanta GA🙏🏾❤️❤️
My mama and myself has only had a gas stove,I am 65 years old.My daughter has a electric stove and she hates it.But that's what they have in her apartment building.
We love salmon Pattie’s. I’m going to my brothers house tonight to make him some salmon Patties. He must have not had any in awhile. Last time we talked about them he reminded me he bought 3 cans. Bless him!
I always fix at least 2 if not 3 cans of salmon. I love cold salmon patty sandwiches with miracle whip. I made the last ones in my air fryer and they were great. I rolled the patty in crisco oil then added more oil to the top when I flipped them. They really were good. This is a great meal. Enjoy your supper. Love y’all. ❤I’ve never had an electric can opener either. I’ve never had a dishwasher. Don’t want one. I am the dishwasher . My husband says when I breakdown he’ll get a new one 😂. What he doesn’t know is I come with a lifetime warranty. It’s been 51 years so far. 😊
This meal makes me miss my Mama’s cooking even more. I grew up on fried okra and salmon patties. So good! I’m from the northern part of San Joaquin Valley, California. I’ve never felt “Californian”. My Mama and her family came from Oklahoma in the late 1940’s. They lost their farm because of the dust bowl. We always put green onion (among other ingredients) In our salmon Pattie’s also.
So Excited for You Tammy to finally get a Stove/Oven that cooks food in a consistent and timely manner! You can easily tell that your food is cooking evenly. Both, the Salmon & Okra looked BEAUTIFUL! YAY!!! I Love Your whole Kitchen set up! Very Classy & such an efficient work space. Michele 💕

If you grew up with electric what made you want gas just curious.I love my electric stove it’s all I’ve ever used though but I have double oven to and flat top burners
Hey Chris and Tammy, your never get old Salmon and Fried Okra looks so Delicious!!!!! These two was Staples when I was growing up and I still love them both. ..I'm going to try your recipe using mostly flour. Thanks yall. I enjoyed the cooking and the talk. Tell the girls is hello. 😊❤🙏 Ms. Ruby
Good evening Tammy & Chris.I love watching your videos snd watching you cook.your recipes. They remind me of my childhood snd helping my mama & nanny in the kitchen. I'm sn 80 yr. Old retired nurse who loves to cook, but am currently living in an assisted living facility becsuse of health issues.. Your videos are the highlight of my day. Keep it up.thsnk you.
That’s so funny to me! I remember when my girls were little and I was making creamed potatoes. I realized that I didn’t have any milk but I had sour cream💡I thought to myself, ‘well, sour cream is a dairy product so….’ I thought I was having a lightbulb moment!!! They were the best creamed potatoes I had ever made! Prior to that, I had never heard of anyone using sour cream in creamed potatoes!
I live like 10 minutes from Long Island in South East Queens 5 minutes from Rockaway Beach, even closer to the Jamaica Bay and it is one of the largest Bird Sanctuaries, 12.6 acres. I have the best of both worlds part of NYC but a suburb feel. Tammy I love when you say right or alright!!
Tammy, since I can’t find full buttermilk could I use sour cream with a little bit of my low fat buttermilk? Just wondering if just a little of the buttermilk would thin out the sour milk enough to make the okra stick good to the breading. Let me know your thoughts on it. ❤
You need learn how to keep your fingers curled when you chop! It will protect them from the chefs knife. You can keep the knife against the flat side of the second sections of your fingers and always keep the thumb behind... im sure there are some yt videos on this subject. Those knives can be really sharp and dangerous.
I grew up cooking like mamma did. I never used a cook book except when I baked. Please never say your mother didn't work. A stay at mom had the hardest job there is. I know what you mean though, momma wouldn't take offense. I could smell that meal at home. Good memories! Everything looked delicious. ❤❤❤😊
Good day Tammy. Big Hello from Vancouver Island, Canada. Tried your apple fritters and I am now a fan! I will be trying your salmon patties right away. I work on the ocean so salmon is easy to come by. Have a great day !!!
Iam from hays kansas I found your channel on u tube love you guys you cook just like my mother and grandmother did when I was young I'll continue to watch your channel do you have a recipe for potatoes and dumplings that would be great if you could make them iam now watching you making salmon patties that goes good with the potatoes and dumplings God bless you yall keep a cookin
It boggles my mind when people take the bones and skin off canned salmon, growing up momma mixed everything together, but we had canned (jarred) wild salmon from the river so there was no worry.
Hi! Beautiful dinner. Very very nice 😊 Your kitchen is stunning, and the echo is gone when you speak! Hope you enjoyed your meal. Take good care, folks. From New Hampshire 🍁
I live in New Zealand. Is it possible to get a copy of your cookbook.? I have seen okra in our supermarket. It is not something that we ever had here in the past, it is something new for us that has become available with different cultures that have moved here over the years. Can anyone tell me what it taste like.? Is the old fashioned apple fritter recipe you recently cooked in your book? Anyway, I really enjoy your videos. Your new kitchen is fabulous 🤩 Thank you ❤️
I crush the bones and all together. The bones are so soft they will not hurt you to leave them in. I also use the juice, green onions, an egg, flour and cornmeal. I don’t fry much anymore. It’s just me now so a can will make enough for 2-3 meals.
Have you ever used mackerel instead? I've heard you can't tell the difference, but I've also heard mackerel smells so bad you can't stand to cook it. But it's much cheaper around here so I'm trying to make myself into trying it.
Has anyone tried tuna patties? I always use red bell pepper and onion finely finely chopped in my patties. lol, I already forgot what Ms. Tammy used in hers. 😊 Anyways, those help take the fishy smell out. And my dad always insisted on using sockeye or red salmon, not pink. He always said they were good, he taught me, I think it was his mom's recipe.
@@resa.walters I've never made tuna patties, when it got right down to it I always went ahead and made tuna salad sandwiches like always. But I used to get tuna melts at a bar we went to, pretty much the same on a bun, and I liked then really well.
I heard Chris just fine. My mom used to make salmon patties, creamed peas and with mashed potatoes. I found out the hard way about leaving the lid on potatoes while boiling them!😂. The lapel microphone is great, it was hard to catch what all you said before you got it.

To me okra is slimy. I don’t care for it, even fried like this. But I’m a “texture” person.
The shipping would be really high. E-mail me for more info at Collardvalleycook@gmail.com
