I think what makes The Chazz interesting is how flexible his dueling is. He may not be the strongest. He loses a lot. But he was able to make fully functioning decks out of random weak cards while Jaden and his other friends stick to the same thing throughout.
hes like me trying to defeat people in the ranked arena in yugioh DL sometimes i harrass people to death with aroma mage decks but then amazoness deck gets me kicked in the nards 58 times and then red eyes gets me beaten to the dirt

Jaden arguably switched made his deck worse with Neos stuff. He also used Evil Heroes while he was evil. Syrus later fused his deck with his brothers.

I love how quickly Chazz dropped his serious demeanor once he beat his brothers. I also loved how weird his deck got by the end of the show.

He goes from a pompous hate sink rival, to a fucking hilarious and constantly awesome 'friendly' rival, accidentally caused the apocalypse while trying to ge some ass, became the dad to an army of mutant gremlins in bikinis, fought a cult AFTER HE BROKE BRAINWASHING FROM SPACE SATAN THROUGH SHEER FORCE OF WILL ALONE, won the gx tournament, had a fucking helicopter duel, got turned into a zombie, died, came back, dressed as a giant ojama yellow, then he said FUCK THAT and finally became a real pro duelist after kicking fancy Boys ass.
Also can we get a video about how utterly disrespected my boy bastion was you know the only one who acts like an actual yugioh player.

Chazz is such an adorable bundle of angst and weirdness, and I've loved him since forever. The whole thing with his nickname being something that the peeps at North Academy misheard and just ran with is pure gold, and I really like his personal journey in the show. Seeing him finally take that step into his dream in season 4 was really awesome, along with seeing everyone supporting him at the end. Also, Littlekuriboh going through GX and loving Chazz as much as us puts a smile on my Chazz loving face.
Stomping Aster while taking that step was also a very nice feather in his cap. :p
That is great. Now if only we could get LittleKuriboh to finally like Judai..
Something i absolute adore about chazz, is that his character is so versatile.
He can be a goof ball then second later, become a serious threat (like he was in the society of light).
he resembles joey for me, as like him, he could be the comedic relief but also a serious person with intense motivations.

one extra thing i didnt see you address is that chazz gets possessed early on is actually super important. even the enemy recognizes his strength. the possession arcs stakes were increased because "Oh shit, they got chazz. they have some major firepower now" and chazz would mow through the rank and file duelists like a lawnmower. he practically annihilated the numbers of the school both times when he was possessed singlehandedly.

The dude took over an entire city to play card games, built a tower in the middle of nowhere to play card games, created a goddamn Roman coliseum on top of the tower to play card games because the tower wasn't enough, then blew up said tower and escaped in a dragon shaped plane (which he built himself). He's a bazillionaire, he invented time travel, and he once laughed maniacally on live TV because he was sending trading cards to space to duel aliens. Oh, and he's petty enough that he'll name school grades such that his Egyptian God card is the best and Yugi's is the worst. He's not quite as vocal as Chazz - because who is - but he makes up for it by being so ridiculously over the top. If anyone can beat the Chazz, it has to be Seto freaking Kaiba.

Fucking finally, an analysis video worthy of Chazz "The Chazz" Thunder Manjoume-Princeton. Thank you.
I gotta say, one of my favorite things about the Chazz is the adoption of the Thunder nickname. It wasn't even "Oh, we're going to give you this cool nickname out of respect"- It was literally an error. Chazz is an egotistical prick who likes to be referred to as "Manjoume-san", so the kids at North Academia heard his "Manjoume-san da!" in response to being called Manjoume and thought he was saying "Manjoume Sandaa", i.e., they assumed his name is in fact Manjoume Thunder- AND THEN HE JUST RAN WITH IT?? And so did everyone else! Nobody back home questioned why he was suddenly called Thunder. They just accepted it. Other characters would actually correct themselves if they accidentally referred to him as Manjoume instead of Thunder. Like holy shit

To me Chazz is the best duelist in all of GX. We see him multiple times using a random slapped together deck and winning like it's no problem. Not sure many other GX characters could pull that off.

Chazz beat aster who beat Zane who beat jaden who beat darkness .. I rest my case.
Also he would had beaten Jaden in general in Season 4 but he was told to loose on purpose.
One thing that stands out with Chazz and his relationship with the Ojama Trio is that it also taught him the importance of brotherly love and that allows him to ultimately defeat his brother and essentially give them the bird for their abuse.
In a way, the Ojamas were more brotherly than his own flesh and blood were.

I love this character to death. Best one from Gx without a doubt imo. He's just so relatable and entertaining as no other. Though definitely not perfect considering he was tossed aside by the writers in season 3 onwards.. and on top of that they even took away his deserved victory over Jaden from him. I will never forgive them for it.
A lot of people don't like him simply based on the fact that he was very disappointing as a rival, which is a fair point. But we shouldn't ignore his remarkable growth and development throughout the series because of that.

Don't forget about how he gave that guy the 1 card he needed so he could also get into North Academy. It's when Chazz shows compassion for the first time. Have to appreciate our side character growth where we can get it.

They did a similar thing with Fubuki where he always announced himself with the number 10 and then pointing his finger to the sky so I think it is pronounced join in japanese? Like Tenjoin, his last name. Gx was so cool bring it back please.

The sky part is the 'Ten' part of his name i think. In one episode he points towards the sky and says 'what do these eyes see?' Or something, so his fangirls yell ten and he yellls join. He has another pun where he calls himself 'blizard prince ' because his japanese first name means blizzard. Its so cheezy i love it
The fact that Chazz loses so often is, I think, one of the best parts of his character. He never gives up, never quits, or even loses confidence in himself. No matter how many times he gets knocked down, set back, or just fails, he is never afraid to put himself back together and start over from scratch, and that's truly inspiring. Look at the personal hell he gets stuck in by Darkness at the end of season 4, and exactly how he overcomes it. It shows how complete his evolution has been from his starting point of feeling pressured to always win no matter what to appease his brothers, to allowing himself to fail and start again and build himself back up, knowing his failures don't lessen him by measure. The Chazz teaches possibly the most valuable and true-to-life message of the whole show in how he grows up and finds his inner resolve. Chazz it up, indeed.
I think the issue is that for this to happen, they pretty much had to mishandle him first. In Season 1, he pretty much earned the win against Jaden and the plot probably would have a better flow with it too, but...yeah, didn't happen. And then there's pretty much an oof-parade for 2.5 seasons with him not even dueling in the better half of Season3.
One important thing about the manga version of the character was that he is essentially the second most important character. But the two characters pretty much just share design and maybe some background.
The Chazz is not only a character. He's an attitude to life.

I grew up on the dub so I personally love it, especially since it gave me some many laughs no matter how stupid it was. Reading most of the manga, I have to agree that I liked Anime Chazz better because he honestly had so much character and emotions, while yes he became pretty goofy at least he resonated with me, made me laugh, and felt genuine pride when be beat his brothers.

Anime Chazz sure is goofy, but he is definitely one of the strongest characters in GX. I believe that the writers always considered this as a fact , so each time they wanted to show how skilled a character was, they would have Chazz lose to them. However, he would always put up a good fight making me feel less angry 😂. I hope we could see him in action again, since he got new support cards for his deck.

I can't believe you've managed to put the pure admiration for the Chazz in actual words, which I myself was unable to do. His being is too magnificent to try and describe him in mere letters
Chazz could see duel spirits becuz he was dueling with a deck that he jusr assembled himself instead of buying it. He changed here as a person so it makes sense for him to see the Ojama cards, but It's a shame he never uses Ojama Red, Ojama Blue or Ojama Country in the GX series
The Chazz is amazing because he was such a damsel in distress: first one to get beaten by Amnael, first one to be brainwashed by Sato, first one to get zombified, first one to get killed in the Dark World. Yet he never looked for Jaden to solve his life. He was just too proud and petty and would rather go down on his own than ask for help and be saved.
Idc of he wasn’t as tough and much of a rival in the anime compared to the manga, because Judai ended up having rivals all across the series, even if it never stayed constant. First Manjome, then Edo. But Judai already had too much shit going on with all the villains in the series (himself included) to get worried about a rival.
I still bring my Ojama XYZ Armed dragon deck with me to locals, I get a couple laughs but nobody laughs when you chazz them up with armed dragon catapult cannon
Jaden beating Chazz reminds of that time in the Speed Racer anime where the main character finds out his opponent is competing to try to win the prize money to save his sisters life, and speeds up.

This is why Chazz is one of my favorite characters in the GX anime where he went through changes yes i love that you brought up when Jaden Lost against to Aster definitely Chazz cared for Jaden as Both a Rival and a Friend. This also Includes Jack Atlas from 5DS both him and Chazz started out as an asshole but throughout the series they seem to alot of character development unlike other Rivals.

I know many people will disagree but
Jun Manjoume is my most favorite rival among all rivals in Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise. He had the best chatacter development and he used many types of deck and combined 3 of it later (VWXYZ/Armed Dragons/Ojamas) I think that's awesome enough. He also defeated 50 North Academia students, defeated Society of Light students, freeing them (also winning GX tournament) and he defeated his brother, Chosaku using 0 ATK point deck when the requirement were monsters under 500 ATK points
Many people say Manjoume doesn't fit to be Judai's rival, Edo/Ryou would be better but... I don't think so. They didn't interacted much with Judai except dueling unlike Manjoume did
He also defeated Edo in Season 4, and there was one duel where Manjoume supposed to win against Judai but he lost on purpose due of the order of his manager as Ojamanjoume, I always count that as a win anyway
Overall, he's an awesome rival and an awesome character despite of his arrogant, stand-offish attitude. He may be a simp but I like that comic-relief part of his, it always bring smiles to me
I didn't liked Manga Manjoume that much. It lacks so many things from his anime counterpart, which is why I like the Anime Manjoume more. Many people say Manga Manjoume is better due of the fact he defeated Judai two times. Though, Kid Manjoume is so cute to see

From watching your other GX videos, I was quite excited to meet THE CHAZZ. I started watching GX about two weeks ago (the dubbed since that's on youtube).
As of now I’ve read most of the manga and I do agree that chazz/manjoume mostly the serious foil to Judai/jaden there. However there was this part early on in the manga that I thought would be pretty interesting to expand on. Early on chazz is kind of jealous and disgusted at judai due to judai inheriting koyo’s deck after koyo goes into a coma. I thought that part of his character of him being a big fan of koyo was interesting and how he reacted to and eventually warmed up to judai would have been pretty cool to see if the manga had more time. Great video, just discovered the channel but keep up the good work

I think the point you made about Jaden and Chazz having contrasting arcs of growing up was really interesting. Because when I was a kid, I saw all these shows about people becoming more serious and mature as they grow up, so I was very serious and mature when I was younger and everyone told me how I was wise beyond my years. Then The Chazz shows up very serious and under a lot of pressure and once that releases, he's just like "fuck this, I'm just gonna be a goofy guy" and even though he can still be serious when he needs to be, he's mostly just doing all the fun things he probably didn't get to do.
We need more coming of age stories where the protagonist starts off so mature and serious and just steadily gets goofier and funnier as they accept that growing up doesn't mean growing out of joy and happiness.
I know I've gotten a lot goofier than when I was a kid. When I was like, 12, I got pressured into giving all my stuffed toys away and not keeping anything except my first ever plushie. And now that I'm 21, I'm back on my bullshit collecting plushies and YGO cards and being more of a goof than I ever let myself be when I was younger.
