@@bigdrews4360 Right now the iphone is definitely my main daily driver but apple is new to me and my wife and daughter are iphone users. So I feel more compelled to keep the 14 pro max in my pocket for imessage, facetime, and find my features. Also I have and am in love with the apple watch 8. But the feature set on my S22 is unmatched, still use it everyday.

My last iphone was the 12 Pro Max, I then went to the Note 20 Ultra and now the S23 Ultra. While they are all amazing smartphones I was just sick and tired of the Apple platform and wanted a change. For those that have been away from Android for years the platform is rock solid stable vs the early years. I made the switch because I felt like a zombie cult member on the iPhone and needed to break free. I didn't want the same phone everyone in the world had. Both are amazing phones, I just wanted to experience something different for a while. Upgrading to the latest iPhone year after year became a weird feeling like just going to the cult member's office to receive my injection and stamp of approval for the new year. I also love the Samsung trade in deals as I was given $600 credit for my Note 20 Ultra meaning I got the S23 Ultra for $600 and change 😄

The S-pen may seem like a gimmick to some , but as someone who's been relegated to self taping for auditions, being able to use the s-pen as a remote in that situation (as well as a number of other photography circumstances) , taking notes ,and even having access to what seems like an infinite coloring book, means that it genuinely adds to the functionality and enjoyability of the device.

I had an iPhone for 2 years then switched to the S23 Ultra a couple of weeks ago. The best way I can sum it up is that the iPhone is... a phone. Whereas I view the S23 Ultra more of a tablet / mini-laptop. Just the fact that it has a normal file system and you can plug a normal external USB-C drive into it to transfer files makes it more or a laptop alone. Love the S-Pen. I use it every time I'm going to be using the phone for more than a few minutes. Again, it acts more like a mouse - again, very laptop-esq. Cameras are top-notch. Display is second to none. So far, I just can't fault it. Really glad I made the switch. Edit: Did I mention the multi-tasking capabilities? Y'know.. like a laptop.

I love my S23 Ultra. But it's still my backup phone for a few reasons. (My iPhone 12 Pro is the primary)
    1. Apple Ecosystem. Seamlessly works with my MacBook, watch, iPad, etc.
    2. iMessage
    3. Better corporate security (yes, it's a business phone, and Apple's security is 2nd to none.
    4. App quality (as you mentioned)
    5. Apple's health apps (and integration with the watch) .. Samsung used to own this back in the day.
    6. I actually like the notifications better on iOS. The screen lights up and you can see what you are being notified about. On my S23, it vibrates or beeps and I have to go figure out what the notification was. Very confusing.
On the Samsung side (and why I keep it and love it)
    1. Camera blows my iPhone away. (Especially for videos). My biggest challenge is to store the videos into Apple Photos on my Mac after.
    2. s-pen ... I use this quite a bit.
    3. Display ... reading emails, browsing, it's hard to look at the iPhone after using the S23.
In short, I sort of use the S23 as more of a mini-tablet for my own use, and my iPhone for my work related stuff.

I recently upgraded my phone because it was about due. I ended up coming away from iPhone and getting a Pixel 7 Pro. It was cheaper for pretty much equal specs for my personal needs. I did make a visit to my local Apple store to have a play with the newer iPhones and phones and found them totally unispiring, it felt like the same old in a slightly different case for more money. It just dosen't feel as though Apple are innovating and are relying wholy on people blindly upgrading and believeing the marketing hype.
Don't get me wrong, I like Apple products, I'm currently running a Mac Mini M1 as my daily desktop and am looking to invest in a MacBook Pro, however it does feel as though the way has been slightly lost on the iPhone and a serious shake up is needed to prevent it from going completly stale.

I'm stuck in the Apple ecosystem b/c my entire family has iPhones. Small things really annoy me with iOS, like not having numbers above the native keyboard. I do a lot of technical communication, and this is very maddening. And not having a consistent "backup" or "home" button is annoying. Apple makes your fingers jump all over the phone (up/down/up) to do simple navigation tasks. I just wish they would listen to their customers and provide a bit more customization options. Having said that, it's a nice quality phone and it integrates seamlessly with all my other Apple products, so I'll never change.

The best way i can describe the difference between apple and Android is Apple tells you what you can do but you tell an Android what to do. What i mean by that is, Androids have very little limitations. You can make your phone as unique as you want, different icons, sure, 12 scrollable screens of widgets, go for it, want to make it look like an i phone, sure, want it to look like a desktop, go for it. Aside from the asthetics the S23 is packed with features. The camera is really the best one on the market, and once you turn it on "pro mode" you can take any kind of photos you like, super realistic or bright and vivid. The 100x zoom is not as gimicky as people say, it actually works. It's super fast, the new dolby mode makes anything you Bluetooth to sound much better. All in all it is not only the best Samsung phone ever made, it is the best phone ever made.

The only advantage the iPhone has is the ecosystem, that’s a pretty big advantage. I’ve tried 2 different galaxy phones in the past and I returned them both within a week. Android is still too fragmented, Samsung phones don’t hold their value near as well as an iPhone, and I could care less about the customization options.
I wouldn’t waste my time with another Android phone. It might be “better,” but it’s not worth the trade offs for me.

I traded it in March for an S23 ultra, and Samsung gave me $700 for it. That's $20 more than I paid for it. Mark, A to your initial Q. Yes you're right. The s23 Ultra beats the 14 Pro Max...for all the reasons you so succinctly say. This vid is spot-on on the differences; as a 14 Pro Max user, I recently tried the s23 Ultra and was blown away. Extra points: Weight - the iPhone weighs a ton compared to the s23 Ultra; Apps - I'm a big Google Apps user and these Apps are better on Android (as you'd hope/expect) so your comment about Apps Dev and iOS doesn't really stand-up tbh; Watch - I've also tried the Watch 5 Pro and it's as good as the Watch 8 and with better battery life imo (at a lower price point than the Apple Watch). Can you please do a Review/Test of the new Watch 6 (Pro) when it launches? When it comes to 'ecosystem' it's the Watch aspect which can tie you in. That said, Samsung gave a £100 trade-in on any working smart watch eg my 5 year old Garmin. I think the biggest thing in Apple's favour is the 'What you never had you never missed'. If more iPhone users tried a OneUI Samsung phone, especially the S23 Ultra, they'd struggle to go back tbh. When are you going to do a S8 Ultra tablet Review v iPad Pro Review? Keep up the great 'plain English' Reviews - always a good watch!

I’m S Pen for me and others is a must. Recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s, the S pen is great for handwriting recognition (as is an iPad mini with Apple Pencil). But I can’t take an iPad mini everywhere.
Google’s eco system is imo better, it works on Android and apple hardware. Apples software doesn’t work on Android apart from Apple Music.
It makes sense to use an eco system that works on either hardware.

This is very surprising to me because my old note 20 ultra supports 4k on the exact same simple setup (usb c to hdmi cable). All Huawei models support HDMI also.

The way to take a sharp picture of a moving object like children or animals that can move suddenly is in the camera app to press one of the volume buttons and the phone will take a bunch of pictures at once and all the pictures will be in the same place in the gallery (something like a photo folder in the camera album) and you can choose the one you like and delete everything else and by the way just switch to the Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Buds and also Galaxy Book or any other Windows laptop or even Chromebook and maybe also Galaxy Tab if you are looking for a tablet to get the full ecosystem experience

The Notifications seem so overwhelming that they're nearly useless, but I leave them on cuz 1 out of 50 is important ... if I notice it. The S23 Ultra is a super phone, and yes, the battery lasts a whole lot longer than the iPhone. However, the iPhone has the better camera, and not just for moving subjects. The iPhone makes a far better job of lighting conditions in daylight. Clouds, sunlight reflecting of surfaces, sunrise and sunset shots are all a country mile better than the S23 Ultra. Then there’s the Apple Watch Ultra. This watch is just too good to live without. If the Samsung did a better job of processing photos, and they had a genuine contender to the Apple Watch Ultra, I’d seriously consider changing, but for now the iPhone is still (just) better for me.

I have them both and ill say the s23u is the better phone imo especially overall it just does more stuff for the money the ecosystem is just as good i got the buds and galaxy tab and they work very well together i wish Samsung would make a ultra watch although the watch 5 is good its definitely no apple watch
