  • Since Switching from the Galaxy S23 Ultra from the iPhone 14 Pro Max, I've had a lot of thoughts about my decision. It's sometimes been difficult since I've left my iPhone 14 Pro Max and in this review, I will be showing why the Galaxy S23 Ultra also has its cons.

S23 and s22 are optimised for insta snapchat and tictok. With the ultra it could be a matter of the resolution is to high, which means insta will compress.

I did the opposite, I went from the 14 pro max to the s23 ultra and couldnt be happier. I am free from ios prison and I have felt that unless you are completely embedded in the apple ecosystem you are not getting the most fruitful experience with an iphone. I like the freedom and tinker-ability of the android phones, just my take. The majority of this is just subjective anyway.

What I love about S23 is the proper file system and the ability to just plug it in a PC and use it as a flash drive. The universal back gesture is also a lifesaver, on the iPhone I need extreme hand gymnastics to navigate around.

The reason why social media companies prioritize iPhones is not only because iPhone is the only phone with IOS, but also just the fact that social media is all an iPhone user needs. All they need is social media, selfies and some swag. And they're satisfied with their $1k+ device.

Ita like that because devs know that the changes made to any app for iOS will be universal, thus making it much easier for the apps to be uniform, but for android, there's a lot of Android phones with custom UI/UX, and it's not easy to make optimizations for all without having discrepancies here and there

You got a follow for the simple reason of your in-depth review and comparison of social media apps (example: the integration of the cameras within the app(s)). A lot of people do not STILL know about the quality difference between a picture taken with an iPhone vs Galaxy/Android within a social media app. Ofc, its not terrible, but if an iPhone 8 Plus or XR can take a very good picture in the IG app vs a high end 2022/2023 android phone, you can see that its not fully optimized. This again probably does not matter to the masses but it is the little things. And it is understandable why the apps do not integrate the camera as cleanly as on iOS (because iOS is only one used on iPhones ONLY while android is used on multiple different phones with different hardware etc.).

  • @hisxbr150
    @hisxbr150 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

The real issue with the camera optimization for social media apps is that there's basically only 1 phone camera they have to use and optimize vs all the different androids with all quality levels of cameras. That the real reason for the longest time apps where just using screenshots of what the phone was seeing and not actually taking a Photo.

If only Apple would support RCS to make cross platform messaging better for all users. Instea, they'd rather keep the ancient SMS system and have Apple users believe that Android is at fault. Similar to how app developers lazily designed their apps for Android phones and had iPhone users believing that Android cameras were shit lol.
I use both an iPhone and Pixel daily, but as I grow older and text less, I'm starting to realize that iMessage was the only reason I was still with my iPhone. Also mainly because I actively avoided buying into the Apple ecosystem and used Google/Microsoft instead. So I have the freedom to use whichever device I want and carry my data between platforms without the limitations of Apple's software suite.

Samsung is better than Apple bro trust me indubitably . My Samsung tab s8 and the new s9 have gaming emulators and I was able to use my tab s8 and s23 ultra as controllers to project Mario Kart on my Samsung TV , Samsung Dex, smart view phone projection to screen for movies, Advanced edge panel and multi tasking like real computers, the ability to download anything from anywhere at any time, micro sd card, advanced s pen air commands, water resistant tablets etc . I still have my old iPhone 6s, and I learned many years ago that Samsung is superior to Apple, and it's no comparison with their flagship. They are the most fun devices I've ever used and they have features that when I use my sister's iPad I'm upset those features aren't there. Samsung has come a long way. I even have the s10 plus and it's no comparison to these new devices we can see how superior they are. SAMSUNG performance with the new snapdragon and battery is on another level . I get 8 - 15 hours a day on my s23 ultra with multi tasking. I love my s23 ultra more than the 14 pro max in terms of user experience, the only thing 14 pro might be better at is selfie , video sometimes , and imessage that's about it

Positives: gboard, customization, screen, Google integration, notifications are so much better, battery is insanely good, zoom lenses. Receptions is much better. I don't social media much as in taking pictures. Negatives to iphone: apple music, TH-cam and the Bluetooth experience is ABSOLUTE TRASH! Certain apps hijack my car's Bluetooth. Iphone overheats very easily while in my car around 80%. iMessage (it's great but it doesnt play well witu android on purpose and that's nutty af to me). Lack of zoom capabilities on the camera. Inability to customize YOUR phone. Modem is weak. Cool thing with Zelle, majority of people in the US have it. Banks integrate the service so you don't need to create any new accounts, just confirm your phone or email in your bank app and enable it. Not every bank does it, so you'll need to sign up with zelle and connect your bank account if that's the case.
Android auto is updating to where it allows Google maps to run on your phone while android auto is connected, it works on mine. The rest of it is still accurate though, apple music on AA stops working after skipping a few songs for me and I have to unplug and plug it back in to restart AA. The thing I prefer in AA over carplay though is when Google maps does work, you can swipe the green box at the top to preview directions, like if you're getting into a double turn lane and you need to know if you should be in the left or right side.

I think that to overcome some things you mentioned, the best solution for Samsung is to create its own operating system like Apple. I really think when OneUI or GalaxyOS or SamsungOS when it exists will be better than Apple. FaceTime, iMesqage, AppStore, Apple Music and others made by Samsung will propel the brand. And I really hope that in 2025 maybe they will think about that. 2023 is the year Samsung proved to us that many of their devices are better than Apple's, but to really beat Apple, it's IOS that now has to be beaten.

Currently have a 14 Pro Max but after the highly anticipated announcement of the iPhone 15 models..Apple is becoming a disappointment. Considering the S23 Ultra. Only downfall is I am so deep into the Apple ecosystem (i.e. iPad Pro, Apple Watch Ultra, MacBook Air 2022) that it has me wondering how hard the switch would really be. Any insights? I have no interest in the galaxy watches.

    • @kalof3l51

I just switched from my 14 pro max and ultra watch. It is a little difficult. There are things you are going to miss about the phone and watch. It is taking some getting use to but in all honesty I'm enjoying it and know I will not regret it. I still have my ipad pro and will always because it's too good. Sucks that they won't link up but I will eventually get a tab for that. What makes it harder is the fact everyone I know has iphone... but at the end of the day I find myself enjoying this phone more because the pen and the cool features the phone has over iphone. If you do switch just don't get discouraged when you have moments of regret, I believe they will eventually pass the more you get use to the phone.

I switched to the iphone recently as I had to give it a shot, ive had it for about 8 months now and its fine but honestly Im not that big of a fan. The video is great I do love that, but nothing else really impresses me. It just feels like a basic phone with nothing fancy to it in my opinion atleast. Its a great phone, it does everything well but my previous S20ultra was way more fun and did so much more. So I think the s24 series will be my new choice depending how they are!

I agree. But, I think they have a pop up thing when you first use the camera to change the skin tones. I saw this on some camera tests across Galaxy S23 models when using the front - facing camera, it'll ask if you want natural or warm tones but you have extra settings I believe after that to toggle how the skin appears. Don't quote me on that last part though since I may be wrong ^. First part I've seen it for myself but it should be integrated into the settings at this point.

Fundamentally, the point is: your mileage may vary. A lot of advantages are social media, ecosystem and messaging. For many that’s a deal breaker, for me not really. I don’t see myself getting a Mac , messaging outside the USA isn’t an issue, thank God for that. Social media, again, I am not someone who scrolls social media apart from Reddit. The keyboard criticism was a bit weird, you can adjust the keyboard to your desired width or size, or shift to Gboard. I hate the keyboard on my dads iPhone. The only advantage imo is Apple Watch and the lack of a shutter lag, but I’m fine without the former, the latter can be annoying

I think what many ppl don’t take in consideration it’s that in second or third word countries having an iPhone is a guarantee reselling opportunity. Here in Brazil an iPhone 6s is more expensive than a monthly minimum wage (nobody pays this but it’s the general value for bargain around it). This creates a market where apple devices simple doesn’t not lose value and ANY android loses very fast. In the end, even tho iPhone have some features less and many complications, for the most part of the world it’s the only smart financial decision.

Appreciate the insight. I would like to point out that a couple of your pain points are now gone or easily addressed. The keyboard, switch to G-Board (google's keyboard) and you can customize it to have easily accessible emoji's and larger buttons. Also they recently fixed Google Maps so that now you can open it while Android Auto is running the maps. So you can type in addresses etc. I added the AAWireless dongle and set a DPI of 100 using it's software and that makes the Android Auto nicer to look at and much more convenient being wireless.
