Nice comparison. I had 14 for the Samsung, 13 for the Pixel and 8 for the iPhone. Just a suggestion - to improve the scoring methodology, I would rate the phones by giving 0, 1 or 2 points (i.e., the best of the three photos should get 2 points, the second best - 1 point, and the worst - 0 points). In some cases, there are very marginal differences between the best and the second best, and in some cases there is definitely one photo which just looks very bad. I think this would be a nice adjustment to the overall test. I kind of also agree with some of the comments here that there seems to be some sort of iPhone bias though. And it could be the case that you are even unaware of it - but there seems to be some inner tendency for you to choose a photo which, knowing camera peculiarities between different manufacturers, are likely to be iPhone. ;)
After the release of s23u,i pretty much watched almost all of its camera comparison from mrhwosethe boss, super saf, and many random youtubers and this is the first time i saw 14pro max beat s23u,felt little confused at the results then i realised the fact that this is Max Tech channel, and what else should i expect from their "unbiased" camera comparison 😂
I mean it's a really subjective deal. Some people prefer oversaturated videos and photos. Some prefer cooler videos and photos. Some prefer warmer photos and videos. Very few people actually like neutral and natural photos and videos.
I mean all the channels you listed suck ballulars (esp Mrwhosethe boss). You see what is happening live and they don't know which is which. Additionally in old videos there were times the iPhone lost in comparisons. Keep telling yourself this is "biased". That's a pretty dumb way to live life. Copium.
Pixel clearly won the last one in front of the Coke building in terms of overall detail. The one chosen has the red bleeding through destroying the view of the individual sections of that structure.
yeah they gave the win to the iphone saying that lines look so much detailed and sharper blah blah.. but the iphone had completely blown out the red lighting and missed the vertical lines as well which pixel captured beautifully!
S23 ultra - 21 Pixel 7 Pro - 9 Iphone 14 Pro Max - 5 Found that in portait shots, i preferred the s23 ultra more than the iPhone. Skin tones look more orange on the iPhone's photos. Samsung just killed it with this year's s23 ultra! Let's see what Apple does with the iPhone 15
The cool thing is all three of these phones allow you to edit photos and fix the subtle issues they are trying to point out. Get whatever phone you want.
I was for the first time literally like damn they look identical! Can't even chose properly.i think it's the golden age for the customers and dark ages for the enthusiasts because we are reaching the technological limits.btw for my scores it's more on the s23 ultra and pixel and iPhone coming in 3rd actually.pixel kinda surprised me in a lot of tough scenes.
Personally, I don't like the warm photos Apple produces in night mode. In other modes, I feel it comes down to personal preference. Pixel usually maintains colours in harsh scenarios well. Apple is good at making people look good no matter what is the lighting (some might find the colours wrong/details missing). Samsung seems a little inconsistent but is always close to perfect in most scenarios.
All three are really good. I'd be very happy with photos from either. We've pretty much reached a pinnacle of what is realistically achievable in a phone camera.
I know this video was quite close but there is no way that I phone had the best shot in the last photos. It lacked any detail in the red lights and totally blew them out.
In this camera contest, Pixel 7 Pro has won this fight amongst three. Skipping two or three shots Pixel 7 Pro is the clear flagship killer. If Google could've used Snapdragon 8 gen 2 chipset instead of this tensor G2 I'm definitely would bet for Google 's performance of camera. Certainly this 'Google Camera system would've killed all these which have been participated in this contest. But it's little week side of Pixel 7 Pro and this just because of weeker tensor G2 chip.
There were so many photos here that I had trouble deciding between, which tells me that really it will just be down to personal preference in most cases. Almost all the photos could be tweaked enough in the in-phone gallery apps to give you the outcome you prefer. So just get the phone that you want, we're at the point where all the flagship phones are more than good enough in most cases.
I believe it's time to change the format of these blind camera tests. You have to give 3 points for the best photo, 2 for second place and 1 for third, then the phone with the highest tally wins. Because sometimes a phone is a so close second in many pictures but it misses out in the final results. From my pov this will evaluate consistency of the camera systems and will give a better chance for the viewers to know which is the perfect match for their personal preferences.
It kinda messes up certain shots when you compare 200mp to 48mp pro raw to 12mp binned from 50mp. Keep all 3 phones in 12pm mode, because those 3 high resolution shots are wildly different in how they are do to Apple being a raw image and pixel not having a high resolution option
I partially agree, but it does make sense to test the 200mp and also 50 mp picture quality on the S23 U and the 48 mp on the iPhone as although not comparable to choose the best camera it is important which option do I have to get most out of it and if there are scenes where a 200 mp photo brings you a clearly better result than from the other 2 phones than this is important to know. But the truth is that the 200 mp picture aren't better in most cases, still but how would you know if they didn't test it
I use my 48mp alot. So why should this comparison don’t use this huge advantage over the pixel ? I also compared the 48mp vs 50 and 200 of Samsung and they had las Detail as iPhones 48
I think it's good to show how all those modes work but it seems disingenuous to compare them shot for shot when they are 3 completely different types of photo. I take 200mp shots on my ultra and get great shots, but I'm not going to use 200mp in a dimly light restaurant for a food shot
Like if samsung had a 200mp pro raw mode to compare to apples then yea, but you're taking a standard 200mp shot, comparing it to a 48mp raw image, comparing it to a 12mp binned image, which definitely changes up because of so many factors including file size and shooting scenarios, the reason for a 200mp shot is completely different than a 12mp binned shot, so to shoot in a less than ideal lighting and comparing a mode built for that lighting on 1 phone to a mode not built for it on another phone seems like a lie
One of my friend's Google Pixel 7 killed the iPhone 14 Pro(except for the zoom shots), and everyone was surprised at how good the Pixel's pictures are for the price. One thing that our friends and I noticed is that, in really high dynamic situations in broad daylight, iPhone's ultra-wide lens is really lacking behind most of the high-end androids, even worse than my old S21+, but able to maintain higher details than my phone.
I dont get why there were multiple night 3x photos while just a dew 1x photos While both categories are important there was more emphasis on the 3x Also fewer daylightphotos Not to mention that you comapred 200 mp in adequate daylight Great review btw ... It should be like every category should have equal amount tof photos for balance or someone would just attach 3 30x zoom photos which samsung would obviously win ..
Exactly, you got a point, equal quantity of pics for each lens or category would make more accurate and fair results, If they've taken more x10 pics s23 would've won 🤷🏾♂️
Well again, i pick most pixel 7 pro. I like how the pictures is not over processed, it has more natural or kinda bare pictures vibes. Sadly pixel 7 pro us not sold in my area
At the coca cola night picture, the iphone photo is the worst. You can't even see that there are individual red blocks. This is 100% biased. When it's darker, i like the dark, when it's lighter, i like the light..decide yourselves!
At 1:55 the 10x zoom test was mislabeled or purposely bad. First off was it the main camera at full res cropped into 10x? Because the p7p on every single test on the net takes 10x zoom pics a VERY close second to the s23u with its 5x lens when compared to s23Us 10x lens. Apples 3x lens is ok but clearly 3rd in all those other tests online when using the zoom lenses. This was not a fair test and was designed to make the p7p look bad or you messed up labeling, either way, a clarification is in order.
I love these camera comparisons. I have a suggestion that maybe you could both review the pics/vids in different rooms or at different times so your opinions don't persuade each other.
I think they are close to each other in most photos, very exceptionally there is one that is really not okay, you can see that very clearly, but most photos are successful and I think they are worth each other. It is mainly personal preference. I like the S23 Ultra how they make things more visible in many photos (not in all unfortunately). Everything is just more visible like that lady more towards the end, that was better with the S23 Ultra. I liked the top better with the iPhone. The pixel pro leaves something to be desired in video camera, I would never buy the pixel and want to use it for a year because the video camera is not good enough for me. Photos do. The iPhone is too expensive for me in Belgium, even with a subscription they are too expensive for me, although I don't rule out testing the iPhone again this or next year. The iPhone still has a slight preference in video camera but they suffer more from flair and I think that spoils the photo or video. That's why I still prefer the S23 Ultra. Not 1 smartphone is perfect.
First of all, it's so obvious that these people have gotten used to the iphone so much that those pictures instantly looks "correct" for them even thou i didn't agree at all most of the times. Sometimes i was so suprised that they choice a certain picture that looked quite bad for it to just happen to be the iphone. Second, im suprised also how bad the Pixel 7 Pro was in these pictures/video considering all the praise it has gotten. Anyways, i ended up with these scores on my blind test. S23U - 16p 14PM - 13p 7 Pro - 6p The Samsung did great, especially considering it's still on it's launch software. Good job Samsung!
I ended up still having the S23 win for me in the end. But the iPhone was close. I don't get what was going on with the Pixel. I still believe it's the best still shot phone camera and always wins for me.
@@ramellmerced8899 I'm actually trying out the S23 Ultra now and considering the switch. It's hard because I've used iPhone forever so I'm used to it. Plus everyone in the US uses iMessage and it's a fight to get anyone to use anything else. But my iPhone 13 PM was sold for the iPhone 14 PM and it's been nothing but trouble. I have honestly hated it.
Really enjoy the structure of your camera comparison videos. It just goes to show that it all comes down to personal preference and what our eyes are used to. My results are as follows: S23U - 16 14PM - 12 P7P - 7
Unbiased review is the most biased, we all know that the S23 Ultra has the best ultrawide by a mile, but the unbiased review has the 14pro max beating the S23 Ultra. What a joke
Fun video! I freeze the video immediately when you show the photos side by side, review them without any commentary just judging by my own preference to avoid bias, then listen to you explain your picks after I've already made my choice. I had 7 Pro Max, 17 S23U, and 11 Pixel. A fair number were pretty much toss-ups and quite a few ended up with the S23U having what seemed to me the most balanced look. None of them would be a bad choice!
I took this along with the two of you and had very different results. I suspect a lot has to do with the device you are viewing this on. Mine was an iPad Pro 11 2020.
I just purchased the P7P. I watch videos like this to justify my decision against the major competitors. And I'm happy with my choice, Most shots are in very extreme situations and all cameras are pretty good. In fact my FF Camera and my high end Compact 1" will stay in the bag while I use the phone..they are just getting so good these days. Thanks for the effort making the video. The other one you made with the pro photographers really sold how good phones are getting ATM.
@@ChillFantasticFive hi Brian, let's stand back and say that for most people all 3 will be excellent choices. My friend has the Google pixel and the output is dramatically superior to my iPhone. However, I'm using a high end digital camera and lenses for my actual photography. I'd need to rewatch the video and actually score each set of shots to Geta 1st / 2nd. I was doing it mentally with each shot and I don't think the iPhoane had more than 1 first place. To be clear, I'm 100% Mac and iPhone with multiple iMacs, iPad pros, MacBook Airs, Mac minis and an iPhone.
Mine nearly tied: Noticed I preferred the iPhone and the Galaxy for daytime shots while I preferred the Pixel for nighttime shots S23U: 11 P7P: 13 14PM: 11
The Pixel for me prioritizes detail and brightness, with little or no processing it can be the most precise but not the most beautiful, the S23 in general takes excellent photos with correct processing in general but playing it safe, the iPhone is something else luckily you can take amazing photos. Or... incredibly inaccurate.
Seems 2 of the 10x zoom shots by the P7P were taken with the 1x lens. This is the only site where the 14 Pro takes more detailed 10x zoom images than the P7P. That is impossible if you use a 3x 12MP lens against a 5x 48MP lens. Otherwise a decent comparison, but terrible judges :) Despite this disadvantage for the Pixel, I had the Pixel and the iPhone about equal and both beating the S23U. Note: I also give points to 2nd place to make it more fair. My conclusion is that the Pixel is still the best camera (but 14 Pro and S23 are both better in video).
I'm using s23 ultra right now, and I think Samsung does require some tweaking on potrait shots and night photography!!! Portrait shots does look a little lively on iPhone though! I wish Samsung can tweak these settings and push the update 😅. Good job guys, it really was an unbiased video..👍
For me Pixel 7 Pro won. I think it's actually a biased comparision, because it's easy to guess which photo was taken with iPhone if you are used to it. You choose often the more saturated and warmer (greener in Nightshots) photos, while they usually didn't look better.
Pixel camera was not very good. I have the 7 pro and the pixels are not that great. The pixel 6 was so much better with clarity and detail. Google ruined something
@@mjjones1045 I also had Pixel 6, and now have 7 Pro. The photos from main 1x camera are almost the same, and it' nothing surprising because they share the same sensor and same software and similar processing power.Nightphotos, UW, and zooms are for sure better on 7 Pro. Maybe your 7 Pro is somehow broken, if your experience with it is so bad. I used it parallel with iP14Pro for almost a month and liked P7P much more, except for portraits, which I do very rare.
This is so subjective. Images that I thought looked great they thought were trash and pictures that I thought were blurry they loved. Just buy whatever phone that fits your preference. They are all pretty much the same.
Finally, was waiting on this material :) So my scores 17 - Samsung, 10-Pixel, 8-iPhone. Seems like Samsung is a game changer this year in almost every department.
still don't understand why everyone is comparing the 900$ Pixel to the ultra versions of the two other phones. the pixel 7 pro is even cheaper than the s23 and iPhone 14 standard editions (at least over here) and should compete against those.
I got 17 Samsung, 7 Pixel, and 11 iPhone. I come from iPhones and generally always prefer Pixel photos. These photos were just...odd on the Pixel for some reason.
Without Max here the comparison is so biased! Whenever S23U or the P7P looked better the comment was a flat way to go! And whenever the iPhone 14PM looked better/took a better shot they were so excited! 😅 Once you see it, this video becomes annoying - sorry 😅
Too bias, you guys already know which pic comes from who because of the characteristics/color science of each photo. These guys praise the Lord Steve Jobs so much they must get lock jaw from throating all those apples 👀
I wasn't tallying it up, but it really felt like the Pixel was clear 3rd on a lot of these shots. Sometimes it was marginally the best, but it felt like that was rarer than it just being the worst. For the most part, I had the same score. The only one I really didn't understand is picking the iPhone for the first video when the S23 looked obviously sharper. Maybe it's just the YT compression, but I thought the S23's 8K video was clearly sharper.
Yeah YT crushes video & photos, its hard to know. These tests aren't perfect, its a bit of fun. It's like MKBHDs super unscientific test, which was a white balance test, basically. all 3 phones are actually really good.
It wasn't really a fair comparison in the first place! On the pixel they used compressed 12mp shots unlike how they used the 200 and 48mp modes on the other 2.
@@danyuzunov this was only in one picture. And the Google can only use 12 mp. Which is a huge downside for me. This is as when you would say it’s not fair compare 10x Zoom because only Samsung has it…
Also, people have to remember they say they have not seen the photos, but they have to take them and look at them while getting them ready for the video. I'm pretty sure they pick and choose what photos they put up. It seems skewed to me.
By using unbiased professionals. There's also the MKBHD test that showed the general populace preferred P7P. Honestly, you could get a different person to use these three phones and get completely different results in the comparison. It's part the camera/processing, mostly the photographer, and part the device you're viewing the finished results on.
I love these blind camera tests. Cameras are all about image quality first and foremost and that's what you give us. How the camera works comes second; still important but secondary to the image. I do wish creators reviewing microphones followed your example. MOST spend nearly all the time talking about features but only a little time with demos of how they sound and often right at the end. Some of them don't even do that!!!
These are always so much fun to play along with. I also had the iPhone winning. As an iPhone user, that made me happy. Although on a few of the shots, the iPhone was the worst. So always room for improvement. Looking forward to the 15 Pro Max(Ultra) in September.

@@Regantdarcy haha okay perfect. Yeah that's why I was asking. People get so worked up over it. I'm the same and not a die hard fan of either system. I've been using iPhones forever and just swapped to try this S23 Ultra because my 14PM was glitching like crazy.
Are there any generalizations that can be taken from this for you guys? You all said the iPhone was catching up halfway through the video. Would that mean S23 Ultra was better for day shots and iPhone was better for night shots? I wasn’t paying attention to the photo organization.
For those who always complain with Samsung can't take photos with natural colors, actually just use the"Pro camera" mode that will take what you see on the preview screen.
I think the girl is almost at a habit-bias choosing the right photos when she don't like the middle photos. You can also hear from both of them that undertoned disappointment in their voice when they didn't choose the photo taken by the iphone, seems the video is more like find the photo taken by the iphone.🤣🤣
The other detail this video fails to point out is that the pixel and the iPhone have been out for some months now and they both have received multiple updates to help me find their cameras. The Samsung is new and has yet to receive updates to refine the camera. Samsung camera will be more refined down the line as more updates roll out. I wish these reviewers would point that out when they're discussing their doing their reviews
Biased as always. That's just because Apple fans use to recognize iPhone's photos and obviously they pick them as better ones. S23 is a clear winner for me. I don't own any by the way.

And it could be the case that you are even unaware of it - but there seems to be some inner tendency for you to choose a photo which, knowing camera peculiarities between different manufacturers, are likely to be iPhone. ;)
Oh well I got 13 for iPhone 12 for Samsung and 10 for pixel
After the release of s23u,i pretty much watched almost all of its camera comparison from mrhwosethe boss, super saf, and many random youtubers and this is the first time i saw 14pro max beat s23u,felt little confused at the results then i realised the fact that this is Max Tech channel, and what else should i expect from their "unbiased" camera comparison 😂
these guys are clearly biased just by how they get excited after realizing they chose the iphone.. nothing wrong with that
I tested both phones on my own and the iPhone was better. I ask my how the 23 ultra is so good on TH-cam tests…
I mean it's a really subjective deal.
Some people prefer oversaturated videos and photos.
Some prefer cooler videos and photos.
Some prefer warmer photos and videos.
Very few people actually like neutral and natural photos and videos.
"Both of us had the iPhone win, can you believe it?!" Yes. Yes, we can.
Exactly. Not sure if they know the answers before
How the sky is literally hue’d red.
yeah they gave the win to the iphone saying that lines look so much detailed and sharper blah blah.. but the iphone had completely blown out the red lighting and missed the vertical lines as well which pixel captured beautifully!
Funny how other youtubers have S23Ultra winning the comparisons, but then again I did expect this from this channel.
Funny how you conveniently forget they also post comparisons and other videos where they put non-Apple products as better.

S23 ultra - 21
Pixel 7 Pro - 9
Iphone 14 Pro Max - 5
Found that in portait shots, i preferred the s23 ultra more than the iPhone. Skin tones look more orange on the iPhone's photos.
Samsung just killed it with this year's s23 ultra!
Let's see what Apple does with the iPhone 15
Here; 16 for S23 Ultra, Iphone 9 and pixel 10.
(18:57) "Oh my goodness I can't believe my results," said the man, shifting nervously in his chair, so genuinely startled by the results.
All three are really good. I'd be very happy with photos from either. We've pretty much reached a pinnacle of what is realistically achievable in a phone camera.
14:38 i like how they skip to the next picture after realising the worst pic was from iPhone.
I know this video was quite close but there is no way that I phone had the best shot in the last photos. It lacked any detail in the red lights and totally blew them out.
It's okay that you don't know about the red stormtrooper, I myself am trying to forget that saga as well lol
Tensor was built around AI improvements, I'm gonna bet the 8 gen 2s image processor wouldn't have done anything for them.
Keep all 3 phones in 12pm mode, because those 3 high resolution shots are wildly different in how they are do to Apple being a raw image and pixel not having a high resolution option
agree you really shouldnt use the 200mp setting on the samsung, use default setting as its bins the pixels better for these types of comparisons
Pixel has the best colour science what do you want
I think they need to upgrade their burst hdr method and it will have tons of details as well
iPhone won
Pixel has better zoom then the iphone
The best part about the pixel is that u can adjust the shadow, white balance on the go
It shows me that one camera's weakness is another camera's strength.
I dont get why there were multiple night 3x photos while just a dew 1x photos
While both categories are important there was more emphasis on the 3x
Also fewer daylightphotos
Not to mention that you comapred 200 mp in adequate daylight
Great review btw ...
It should be like every category should have equal amount tof photos for balance
or someone would just attach 3 30x zoom photos which samsung would obviously win ..
Exactly, you got a point, equal quantity of pics for each lens or category would make more accurate and fair results, If they've taken more x10 pics s23 would've won 🤷🏾♂️
because this channel is "unbiased" hahaha
Great comparison. That's very kind of you.
Well again, i pick most pixel 7 pro. I like how the pictures is not over processed, it has more natural or kinda bare pictures vibes. Sadly pixel 7 pro us not sold in my area

Yes please
I have the S23 Ultra. All of the 3 phones pictures look great.
S23U - 16p
14PM - 13p
7 Pro - 6p
The Samsung did great, especially considering it's still on it's launch software.
Good job Samsung!

Hate that people dont shoot the iPhone 14 pro on ProRAW, which is the only way to utilize the 48mp sensor.
Seems 2 of the 10x zoom shots by the P7P were taken with the 1x lens. This is the only site where the 14 Pro takes more detailed 10x zoom images than the P7P. That is impossible if you use a 3x 12MP lens against a 5x 48MP lens. Otherwise a decent comparison, but terrible judges :)
Despite this disadvantage for the Pixel, I had the Pixel and the iPhone about equal and both beating the S23U. Note: I also give points to 2nd place to make it more fair. My conclusion is that the Pixel is still the best camera (but 14 Pro and S23 are both better in video).
Android got so good to a point that people feel comfortable using it without complaining.
I'm using s23 ultra right now, and I think Samsung does require some tweaking on potrait shots and night photography!!! Portrait shots does look a little lively on iPhone though! I wish Samsung can tweak these settings and push the update 😅. Good job guys, it really was an unbiased video..👍

The other sibling, the one in the photos with his family compiled the shots for them.
How, then, in the previous comparison did Pixel 7 pro perform better than iPhone 14 pro max?
By using unbiased professionals. There's also the MKBHD test that showed the general populace preferred P7P. Honestly, you could get a different person to use these three phones and get completely different results in the comparison. It's part the camera/processing, mostly the photographer, and part the device you're viewing the finished results on.
The answer is simple, iphones wins even if it doesn't have a camera.
That's how these folks are.
