    I would suggest sealing base metallic coat before masking I use testors metalizer sealer which I bought lotsa bottles of before it was discontinued.😁

    USAF was at a transition point so technically the earlier insignia isn't totally incorrect!🤔

    Nice build - just FYI the national insignia changed when the US Air Force was established (formally it was the US Army Air Force) so the Mustang national insignia are from the USAAF era - the addition of the red linear line denotes it as USAF.

    I'm a little late to this one, but that's a great build as always.
    This is a nice model, no doubt, but it's obvious the bean counters have had a say on this one, and corners have been cut. It's not a patch on earlier releases such as, say, the Meteor F-8, Javelin, and Spit PR XIX.
    Airfix dropped the ball on this one. They had the opportunity to snatch the laurels from Hasegawa, who, in mo, still hold the crown as the best 1/48 F-86 currently available.(Nothing wrong with Academy's offering, either).
    Once again, lovely build.👍

      thanks for the suggestion! when looking at references the panel lines on the sabre didn’t really stand out to me… looked very smooth so that’s why i opted not to define them even more using a panel wash!

  • @davidmartyn5044

    The F-86 was the best fighter of that time. You complain about the lack of detail in the cockpit but don`t add any extra parts? You sound like you can`t be bothered. Also, the U.S. military added a red bar to the national insignia from 1947 you should have added that. I`ve seen some behind the scenes videos, and for all details the have to design and make, it adds to the cost.

    • @machmodels
      @machmodels  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey david, so my general approach to models for youtube videos is to be “out of box builds” as I want to provide an accurate representation of what the manufacturer provides or what the decal manufacturer provides. To say that I sound like I can’t be bothered is rather short sighted of you as I don’t think you understand the amount of effort that goes into making these sort of videos. But I appreciate the feedback :)

    • @machmodels
      @machmodels  ปีที่แล้ว

      and also, when it comes to pricing etc for details how can tamiya deliver so much more in a similar price range (F16C) with so much more detail? i’m genuinely curious?

    • @davidmartyn5044
      @davidmartyn5044 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@machmodels I suppose it`s how serious you are about your modelling. Do you want 10 parts for the cockpit or just basic components? Some people buy a kit and add parts to upgrade the basic kit, some don`t. There are a few youtubers that were invited to Airfix, and its not as big an organisation as you might think.

    • @machmodels
      @machmodels  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with upgrading a kit when it’s perhaps a little cheaper but when your paying about £50 for a kit I would expect there to be more than adequate detail in the cockpit especially as it’s 1:48… perhaps that’s just me being too used to tamiya kits though.
