Friend, I've been building model kits since I was 7 years old, I'm now 49; and it warms my heart to see folks like you keep this art alive. Well done sir!
Very nice build of the intruder ! I worked for Grumman Aerospace Corp. in the US for 17 years building the F-14 Tomcat, A-6 Intruder and EA-6B Prowler aircraft for the US Navy and I'm also a model builder. It was the perfect place to get information on detailing my kit's. All I had to do was just go to work ! One note on adding any electrical wires on aircraft models and that's they are NEVER twisted as I see so many model builders do. All harness wires were only run straight in bundles, no twisting. Keep on building ! Cheers.
That is good info. Thanks. Twisting cables or wire runs would probably cause inductive interference and undue abrasion. Any other tips? I am building the Revell A-6E in Vietnam era livery. I plan on building a HobbyBoss A-6E for my sons father-n-law. He retired as an O-6 and was an A-6E B/N in the 1980s/90s and later a Sqdn Maintenance Officer.
Hey Joe! Thank you very much 👌🏼 I’m jealous you had a wonderful job! I hope you enjoyed it :). I appreciate your advice! It will help me to improve the next kit 🤘🏼 Happy modeling Joe!
Looks great! I really enjoyed watching the stenciling and pre-shading work before you applied the main colors. The results are definitely worth the effort!
The PE instrument panel was a nice touch. I've been stockpiling a lot of Quinta 3D decals more often than PE now. They make tailor-made instrumentation for everything now.
I need to try the Quinta 3D Decals too! They look a bit more realistic. There is another Group Build on Instagram about the Vietnam War. Got a Huey and I will buy the Quinta ones for it 👌🏼
My friend. You are one of the few youtubers that understands how to use the airbrush. Light steady passes instead of shaking it in all directions. Well done!

i worked on the A6 for 4 years in the marines. The nonskid was not black. it was a dark grey. also on the wing leading edge, it was thick clear tape that was applied and because of sun fade/interaction it turn a mucky yellow color. :)
What was the tape for on the leading edge? Was it to help with ice build-up? I was at El Toro MCAS in the 80s, right when they were bringing in the first F/A-18s. I remember as a 10 year old kid being at El Toro in 1968 when my brother was there after coming back from Vietnam. My little brother and I would sit next to the North side of the runway under a tree and a grassy area watch some of the flight ops. I remember the A-6s, A-4s and F-4s shooting approaches and full stops. To us little kids, we thought the A-6 was ugly with bulbous nose. Later on when I learned their all-weather capability, it became a favorite
@@FacelessMan777 It keeps the paint from peeling off in the slipstream. Flying through rain without the tape would erode the paint off to bare aluminum and that's not good on a naval aircraft out in the salt air. I was at El Toro at the same time. You can guess where by my icon thingy! I got out just a month after the last F-4s flew off to the bone yard to be converted into target drones.
