Full Build | Special Hobby IAR 81 C | 1/32 Scale Plastic Model Plane

- The 1/32 scale IAR 80 from Special Hobby has been around for some time now and considering that I live very close to the factory where the IAR 80 were built, I thought I had to build one at some point.
Add to that the fact that I found the kit at a really low price, I jumped at the opportunity and here we are.
Apparently this is a sort of limited run kit so there was a bit more sanding, scraping and adjusting of parts to make them fit well.
A huge amount of sanding had to be done to the gear legs.
One of the upper wing halves was extremely warped and I had a difficult time fitting it. It was never going to go perfectly so I found the best compromise and deal with it after the glue dried.
All in all, the end result is very good and all the surfaces (wings and stabilisers) seem to be in the correct position.
This has been a huge project for me and I hope you enjoy watching.

A good change from the usual build
It is a beautiful plane, I had no knowledge of its existence until today, it is a fresh and novel proposal to the world of modeling, I was bored with the usual Me and Fw, you gave a 180 degree turn to the matter with this assembly. What a great build! Thanks also for the split screens...keeps the overall length a bit lower! Love this plane, the fact it was based on PZL P11.....remarkable achievement. Pity none survived. Kit looks good....no PE in cockpit for a start! Long live IAR Braşov. Oh, and I subscribed 😍
Hi Paul. Thanks for watching and for the nice words. IAR inside Braşov has been dead for a long time. There is no factory there anymore. Some of the more important buildings of the former aircraft factory survive and are renovated. After the war it became a huge tractor factory that in turn was closed down and now we have a shopping mall, apartment and office buildings. Lets see what the next 100 years have to offer 🤣

Excellent fix for the engine mount issue. Could have used that on a couple of Special Hobby's. Great build. Have one in the pile, gotta get to it....yada yada

Recently I have made an episode about the PZL P.24 (available on my channel). I have mentioned the IAR-80/81 in my film, and now my viewers would like to see the history of this plane. As no IAR 80 exists any more, I search for nice models, such as this one from your film.
I have a question - could I use pictures of your model from your films in my future episode about the IAR 80/81 history? Do you have any still pictures? This 1/32 model looks more detailed than most historic photos.

@@NixuVentura am avut si eu compresourul acela si s-a stricat garnitura. Nu facea presiune. Incearca sa diluezi vopseaua suplimentar, verifica sa nu se adune pe ac, lustruieste acul, incearca si alte vopsele, etc. :)
Great job and not gonna lie you really helped me because I am struggling with the same kit, btw you live close to the IAR factory, hmmm seems I am not the only scale modeler in Brasov :D

Apropo, cum diluezi vopselele Aqua Color?
Eu nu am reușit să mă împac sută la sută cu ele...
Salut. Cu diluantul Aqua color mix dar unele culori se "gelatineaza" si trebuie pus mai mult. Uneori adaug si putina apa. Am observat ca se dilueaza mult mai bine cu Tamiya X20A. Iese mai fain din aerograf. Mersi de vizualizari si comenturi.
What did you use to thin the oil paint down for the wash after you painted the model
I am curently using turpentine but it's realy smely. I'll be switching to odourless thinner probably.

P.S: ai vreun sfat pentru vopsitul la pensula. :))
Mersi. Sincer nu am sfaturi ca nici eu nu am reteta exacta si sunt alti modelisti mult mai in masura sa dea sfaturi decat mine. Eu stiu asa: sa fie vopseaua diluata suficient da nu prea mult. Pe suprafetele mari foloseste o pensula lata. Da straturi multe si subtiri. Intrebarea mea este unde ai gasit macheta de automotor Malaxa? 😀

what did you use for post shading, same color with some black?
If I remember right, very diluted black, but I guess it could work with a darker shade of the base color.
