    I just don’t get the argument that the SEC doesn’t want multiple Florida schools. The conference now has two schools in a state in way smaller markets like Mississippi and Alabama even Tennessee comparatively to Florida. If I was the SEC I would do whatever they can to secure FSU to joining the conference.

      The SEC #2s were all founders or added before the related flagship. FSU gets pushed down as an SEC priority due to other options.

      @Rodkicks88 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you notice, it’s mostly B1G fans with a superiority complex pushing the narrative that FSU wants to (only) go to the B1G. The B1G is extremely top heavy with 4-5 truly elite teams and from a fan’s perspective, adding FSU would add more fire power at the top. SEC is the logical and likely choice. And when they do (along with Clemson) the SEC will reign supreme as the best football conference in the country.

    If these attractiveness scores are accurate then why didn't the BIG10 invite Cal and Stanford?

    • @0165EM4971
      @0165EM4971 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They aren’t accurate in the slightest lol. It’s pretty maddening as a Louisville fan. I’m content with the Big12, but other than arbitrary metrics like academics and location, we’d be one of the most attractive new members. The national media puts WAY too much emphasis on “market location” and academics, favoring schools like Virgina and Duke, who would otherwise have the door slammed in their face if athletic success was the most important metric(which it should be).

    • @frictionhitch
      @frictionhitch 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@0165EM4971 The most important metric is viewership. Stanford didn't get in because their viewership and therefor value to a conference is below average. The networks want eyeballs and that is the only thing that they are willing to pay for. You don't even have to be that good so long as people consistently watch.

    • @jimedick9496
      @jimedick9496 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was thinking the same thing. This doesn’t add up…. The only thing that matters is the national tv ratings. That’s who the B1G will be after, hence why they jumped on grabbing Oregon/Wash, and not Stanford/Cal.

    • @willpsone
      @willpsone 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because there was/is only so much money to go around- remember, Washington and Oregon only came when the Pac-12 completely blew apart and those two were forced to take partial shares. For that matter, Stanford/Cal only got in the ACC in similar manner and only because ESPN was left with no west coast inventory
      Also, while I like Altimore's work in general, his numbers there inflate the value of success in non-football/basketball sports- that is actually where a lot of Stanford and Cal's value in his rankings come from. The issue there is the actual money is almost entirely based on football and basketball

    • @frictionhitch
      @frictionhitch 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@willpsone I agree that there is only so much money which is why I think both the BIG12 and ACC die with the biggest schools teaming up for something new.

    The Big Ten seems hot about this AAU accreditation, which neither Florida State or Clemson have. The ACC schools that do have it are Cal, Duke, Georgia Tech, UNC, Stanford, Pitt, Virginia and Miami. Is that a deal breaker for going after Florida State and Clemson? Of course not, but it does seem like a criteria the Big 10 are looking at.

    The six new schools to be added to the Big Ten should be Florida State, Clemson, NC State, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and Utah. I believe all six teams would join the Big Ten making it the best 24 Team Conference with the best TV market. Do you really think the SEC will be able to increase TV market in the future by only being in the southeast. I don't think so. Advertising dollars will go to the conference with national TV markets. People will watch the BIG Ten because they will have teams within there living area and not really support teams that most have no chance of ever seeing. I believe it's as simple as that. The PAC had to actually collapse before any member reluctantly moved to the BIG12. Whether this view is justified or not, it exists.
      b) The BIG12 went deeper in its grave upon the death of the PAC and would again if the ACC completely scatters. The P2 gets stronger while the BIG12 treads water.

    If FSU were not snubbed for Alabama in the previous CFP in spite of a 13-0 season with the ACC title, I would have agreed they would have been SEC bound at some point.
    But with ESPN having major influence in the CFP and the means of media production in the SEC now that they took over the afternoon game from CBS, FSU is not going anywhere near the SEC. As a matter of fact, the reason why FSU is going nasty in the courts right now against the ACC is because they don't want their home games on ESPN anymore. On top of other factors, the B1G has a much nicer media deal that I am sure would benefit FSU and many others.
    FSU will likely bring Miami with them to continue their rivalry as well as having a suitable travel partner.
    Secondly, the UNC alumni base is more interested in the SEC because that part of NC is more of a College Football dead zone and would help fill up the map for the SEC. UNC to SEC will also help NC State and Duke get in at least on a partial share that way the basketball rivalries will be maintained.

    Tier 1 of expanded Big Ten, SEC, and Big 12. 24 teams each, for a total of 72 teams, 16 team playoff, each gets from 4-6 teams in the playoff. No conference championships because they’ll be in the playoffs. Award conference champions based on win/loss and tie breakers or shared co-champions. Tier 1 commissioner and commissioners office to work with the 3 on structure, players pay, rules, etc. Look, the SEC is interested in expanding its footprint to States they are not in, which is why North Carolina and maybe Virginia make sense for them. Big Ten is interested in Florida State, Clemson, Miami, of course Notre Dame if/when ready, maybe a Georgia Tech and Pitt. Big 12 picks up teams out of the ACC that don’t get invited into the Big Ten and SEC. The Big Ten may look to round out at 24 with another team or two out west, like a Utah as an example. This was negotiated well over a year ago and Notre Dame was fine with never getting a bye, even if ranked in the Top-4. This was the concession ND had to make to maintain their independence in football. With their recent NBC contract extended (terms not disclosed) the dollar discrepancy between the Power-2 and ND has narrowed to a range that ND is comfortable with. That being said, if the ACC collapses, I could see Notre Dame entering the BIG.

    It’s been a bit of an open secret that the Big Ten has coveted Virginia, UNC and Georgia Tech. And now that Miami is an AAU school, it makes a lot of sense for the Big Ten, too. I expect when it’s all said and done, and I have no idea when that will be, those four schools will join the Big Ten along with Duke, probably, and perhaps Notre Dame. I expect the SEC to add NC State, Clemson, Florida State, Virginia Tech and possibly both Pitt and Syracuse.
    Cal, Stanford, SMU will then all get swept up by the Big XII, along with Pitt and Syracuse if they don’t go to the SEC, and Wake and BC get shafted like Washington State and Oregon State.

    Conferences need to go away. The Big 10 is not ten teams and the B12 is up to more than 12. Why not just merge interested teams into one big affiliation of teams to maybe 50 or 60 teams? Set up the rules and scheduling format and stop all this nonsense about who gets which teams. If ND wants to be independent go play non-affiliated teams and do its own thing.

    The State of Florida brings some of the best recruiting and TV viewership in the nation… the BIG10 would be THE National Conference if they grab them. And the conference would add BIG games… FSU vs OSU or Michigan… BIG draws… who cares about OSU vs Purdue or Rutgers or Indiana or Minnesota… get the picture?

    Let’s put the Big 10 wish list in a logical order
    1: ND: Pretty obvious.
    2: FSU; Noles are an easy second.
    3: UNC: Although I suspect SEC.
    4: Clemson: Same as UNC.
    5: Miami: Likely FSU travel partner
    6: Stanford: But Rejected already .
    7: UVA: Public Flagship but Stanford “Lite.”
    8: GT: They do have Atlanta and academics.
    9: BC: But only their hockey team.
    10: The rest of the ACC: They have no shot:
