Thanks so much for posting this! You saved me from making a potentially much more expensive mistake, and this was significantly easier/safer than another instruction video that I watched.
Thanks for the video. It was much appreciated and made this process much easier. I just used a handheld 1/4 drive spinner handle to undo the screws. I couldn't find my 5.5mm, but a 7/32 worked just as good..
Damn I'm glad to have watched your video prior to me replacing my lid. I really didn't like prying on the painted surface, as seen on other channels, and thought there had to be a better way. Thanks!
I tried getting the clips off the way you did but it was just difficult I ended up prying and pulling till it came off. But this was a great video to follow!
@@mcgurrentertainment yeah! I had some liquid courage…. Haha but truthfully I didn’t really “pry” I just got the tool down in between the car and the deck lid and used the space to get my finger in and pull that way. This was there’s no pressure applied to the car itself.
Are there any tricks you can advise on if you were wanting to drill new holes in your Ford performance replacement deck lid to accept the studs on a new emblem? I’m assuming it’s prepped in the back just not drilled out.
Just a FYI you do NOT need to remove the trunk release handle, it will slide through the opening in the liner. Also the latch cover does NOT need to be removed, you can slide the liner to the side and if you rotate it, it will side out and around the latch cover. (remove the plastic trim retainer pins first). I've done this a few times when I installed my spoiler.
Before and after, when the boot closes the panel isn't aligned with the driver side tail light at the bottom. Same on my 2017 GT, I tried adjusting the whole lid and couldn't get it aligned without the top becoming misaligned. Any ideas to fix? Could it be the tail light itself is recessed or the trunk is just not pressed correctly and its time to get hammering?
Tough call, it's difficult to determine without looking at it. It very well could be how it's built. I've seen several from the factory look a little off (sadly).
@@mcgurrentertainment I've tried a couple washer sizes on the bottom light bolt as a spacer, got it really close to match the other side but the light is now slightly higher off the bumper, much less obvious.
Based on some research, its looks possible (I’m not 100% sure). The Deck Lid used in the video is a Ford Performance Deck Lid Trim Panel (M-16600-MA) and based on several suppliers, it fits all 2015-2022 Mustang Models (including Shelby). Looking at Ford Parts suppliers, it seems the Factory Deck Lids also share the same part number with different prefixes and suffixes (E.g JR3Z-6342528-AG vs. KR3Z-6342528-BC); it seems the suffix letters are the emblem type (I.e. GT, Pony, Shelby). This leaves me to believe the factory uses the same mold for all Deck Lid trims and they install the specific emblem/badge based on the production order. So based on the quick google search, it looks possible. You may need to email Ford to be formally assured.
@@mcgurrentertainment THANKS mate! It says from the Ford parts website, that the GT350 deck lid trim panel only fits shelby mustang. I thought its because of the emblem but cant be sure. Your info does help! appreciated.
You should be able to order new ones. I believe the part is "Molding Extension Clip - Ford P/N: W701882-S439" (I not 100%, you'll have to verify). If you have one on you, check the measurements and try to order from amazon, such as: amzn.to/3nO2TbU They have several to choose from if you search "Metal Retainer Clips". Hope this helps.
@@mcgurrentertainment Thanks I finally got em in but not in the usual way at all. I had my brother bang it in with a hammer and it worked no problems at all😅
No need to remove the carpet cover to unplug camera. Once you take out the 4 bolts and pop the clips along the top the panel the camera plug has just enough length to squeeze it to disconnect it.
Sadly no. This was the 2nd one that melted (including my OEM GT Stock one). It seems my apartment complex has a window that magnifies the sun's rays at a specific time of the day. Basically, I stopped parking in front of my building.
@@mcgurrentertainmentgot it. I know some after market deklids are painted and will chip. But oem has always been pretty good. You can polish them and they come out real good.

Everything about this video was outstanding -- including the removal of that awful aftermarket deck lid. Well done.
Thank you very much!!! 😃
Best description I seen yet, others say to pry 'gently' against deck lid, being careful not to dent/scratch it. Your way is safer and 100% foolproof.
Thank you very much. We tried our best not to damage our awesome cars.
I tried this way and on the stock deck lid it’s impossible ,no leverage at all, and clips are tight as fuck… doesn’t work.

Was stressing about the denting part, very happy i saw this video 🙏🏽🤙🏽
I understand completely 💯
thank you ! clear instructions and did everything with no issue
That's awesome!!! I'm very glad to hear that. 😊
Great video it looks so easy but I don't think I can do it mate good on you thank you for the show ( Nick from Sydney Australia )
Thank you for the support. It really means a lot!!
Just did this myself your video made it super easy. Thanks so much.
Nice!!!
The deck lids always end up scratched so this is a great how too Vid for sure...
Much appreciated man, couldn't have done it with out you.

Really good step by step video...Idk why I clicked on this but now I know how to do it nonetheless lmao
Thank you very much! Really appreciate the support.
Perfect directions! Thanks!

Easier than I thought, much thanks
You are very welcome. Let me know if you have any questions
You deserve a like bro ❤ I'ma wait for my friend to come to replace mine
Thank you
Excellent video.
Thank you!!!
About to put one on and didnt wanna pry it off with touching the trunk, thanks very much.
Anytime!!!
Helped alot thanks bro
Glad it helped

Just take your time, use masking tape in the drilling area, and start with a small drill bit size to prevent cracking.

Does anyone know where i can find more of the little white anchors for the screws?
Are you referring to the Extension Panel Nut (W710609-S439)?

That works.
I ripped the lid panel off out of frustration and lucky me it came out perfectly fine fml 😂
That works....no video required 😉
I feel like mine is to far to the right I’m going to try your truck by removing it and putting it back in to see if that helps!
Sounds like plan
Which decklid did you have? I like that one
It's a Ford Performance Deck Lid. Link in the description.
Is there a difference between GT deck lids and regular eco mustang deck lids??
Just the emblems, if I recall.
Thanks! Is it possible to replace ecoboost factory deck lid with GT350 OEM deck lid?
the trim panel I mean

What if the retaining clips are damaged? How do we get new ones?

How did you get the small 4 metal clips in? Like any technique to get em in easier?
I just pressed them in, no special technique.

Very true. I was just giving myself enough slack, just in case. I'm kind of clumsy.
Now that I know how to change the deck lid panel I just need to figure out how to remove the whole trunk lid lol
Removing the trunk is easy. 4 nuts (10mm wrench) and disconnect the reverse camera. I had to remove it once when I dropped a screw down it.
How did this decklid melt? Cheap material or something else?

Agreed
Will 1/4 work for the first set of bolts
Tough call. 1/4" = 6.35mm it might be too small, but it's worth a shot. I can't confirm off the top of my head.
Part Number on that deck lid?
M-16600-MA, link in the description.
Well, now I know why there’s dents there in my trunk, previous owner wasn’t careful.
I feel your pain
Riiiiight Off
Help my camera is upside down
Flip it
you don't need to remove the felt panel
Ok
Yes you do...to remove the back up cam and to push the retaining pin from inside the body panels. Did you not watch the video?
how to get the screw out of trunk :(
Did you drop one in the trunk cavity? If so, use a 10mm socket and remove the 4 trunk nuts. Tilt the trunk over and shake it out.
@@mcgurrentertainment i dropped a screw when i did my spoiler, and thanks man thats a good idea
I know because I dropped one as well. Don't feel bad.
