These braces help noticably with stiff coilovers. The brace spreads impacts between both front coilovers so you don't get jackhammered as hard when hitting a bump.
The bolts are listed as single use by BMW. Although you can reuse them I would not torque past the 30nm. Only do the 90 degree turn if you are using new bolts.
I've done something similar in my F10. DO NOT OVER TORQUE IT. The strut tower threads strip pretty damn easily for some reason, and if you strip it you'll need to either drill and tap a size larger, or so a helicoil repair.
I was just looking at these on your site the other night. Glad the video finally rolled out. Definitely purchasing once the weather improves and I have time to work on the car.
So I have to take it out every time the engine cover needs to be removed? And do those bolts need to be replaced every time since they’re aluminium? Thank you
So when trying to remove the bolts like at 2:34, I heard a pop and the top of the bolt sheared off, leaving the threaded portion in the socket. It was on the center of the three front-side bolts. What can I do to remove the remained of the bolt, and to make sure it doesn’t happen to any more of them? I very much want to install this!
Maarten Houtman The base plate isn’t that thick and the stock bolts are pretty long. No issues. I can measure both and post the measurements if someone is really interested.
Lowes has some aluminum anodized washers, or stainless steel should be ok also. Maybe just put a thin film of anti-seize compound or silicone grease in between.
thanks Brian, nice video. I just wondering if this strut brace can avoid the “battery box cover”? Because you know some F30 LCI they have a extra plastic cover behind the left shock tower .
I don't have a BMW, but well done...so, what difference did adding the cage in the back(seat) do to the car? That should have made a difference too, yes?
u say it tightens it up. the electric power steering is already super tight or sensistive, too sensitive for my liking to be exact. ! if this tightens it up more, u can just blow on the steering wheel and ur in the other lane. so is that what u mean by tightens it up?
I can attest that it makes a noticeable difference and that is with 17" wheels on my F30. I am having 18" M400 wheels installed and looking forward to how that feels. Has anyone other than Osama Bandi installed an Autotecknic lower reinforcement brace? Is this a DYI that a newb like me can do? Is it worth it? How about a video on that?
BMW does, It's one of the many differences between f30 and f80. Not all base cars come with these kind of upgrades because these ad on's help when the vehicle is driven hard. An F30 will be fine and last long without them, but performance wise it's better to have them. Inexpensive upgrade, very worth it. Noticable difference.
Been following you for a long time brother ! Y'all inspired me to do the mods on my 328d. Been thinking of doing a channel for the diesel part of the F30 ! Any advice or help would be immensely appreciated !! 💪🏻💪🏻 #F30inWashingtonState 😂

is doing that extra 90 degrees over torquing it?
That’s what I did. Went for larger size
How many nm would you concider ? Like 30 and avoid the 90d turn ?
Installed this on my F31 & wow! you definitely feel the difference, I would also suggest the Autoteknik lower reinforcement brace also!
Hello Osama, what does the lower brace exactly do? How can you describe the difference? Thanks
Finally got around to installing this. This is definitely a necessity for an F30. Hopefully they do a the rear one video.
What does it do ?
Going to be my next purchase. Thanks Brian for
Putting out so much relevant helpful info
Can you show us how to install the rear strut bar on f30 as well please?
no
@@matthewwolak3284 thanks
Another excellent video, Bryan. Attempting to attach a photo of my strut brace in case anyone is wondering how it looks powder coated.

Great video I wanted to sort out the body roll ever since I got my f30
I tried that with my neighbor....had to call an ambulance. Thanks a lot
About to jump on this but has anyone installed the rear? Just looking for a video or picture. Best F30 DIY channel on TH-cam.
Can you please do a tutorial on the f30 for the thermostat replacement
You are the DIY BMW guru 🏎
It also works with F20 and F22s been there done that.
I sourced 5mm longer bolts to allow for the thickness of the brace plate.
Damn it Brian, now I have to drop $600 on that sweet carbon fiber one. Unless you wanna send me one...
🤣
I think I just found my next mod. Thanks, Brian.
Looks like this will be so much easier than sways, especially for the xi's.

You can use make a hole on the bolt with an electric drill
Looking at ordering one but it seems BMW lists the strut tower bolts as single use since they stretch. Has anyone used the old bolts again?
Ben Smith I just reused mine. Everything seems fine. No issues.
Congratulations for 100K Subscribers. keep it up brian👍🏼
will it fit in a F36 and is the carbon version full carbon???
Do a review for f30 vs f80
Aren't those strut tower bolts a bit too short because of the extra height of the base plate?
Maarten Houtman

I removed the thick oem washers & put thinner ones, works fine.

I was thinking about getting one for my F30
I have 3seres
Rick Sanchez really
Oh no the poor engine cowl is stuck now. I'm glad there is an easy removal for that.
Do we have to change the bolt as well?
Once you've torqued the bolts to spec, why are you torquing an extra 90 degrees?
I swear last week I was looking for one for my f30 but didn’t know witch one to get
Would this fit a 2016 F34?
thanks Brian, nice video. I just wondering if this strut brace can avoid the “battery box cover”? Because you know some F30 LCI they have a extra plastic cover behind the left shock
tower .
My question is, how should the oil be changed when the tower struts are on? I have one with tower struts on, problematic !?
Will these fit my bmw 435d f33 2015
Does this help with lame light floaty feelings that these 340i f30 has?
Been thinking of getting one thanks for these videos man 💪🏼
Did you replace those nuts since they are angle torqued?
what size are the bolts? BMW part number?
I don't have a BMW, but well done...so, what difference did adding the cage in the back(seat) do to the car? That should have made a difference too, yes?
is there a cheaper on that exists i dont see why its so expensive :(
Looks great and, does it also work for the f30 B58 ? thanks
Yes
Jraze18 s1000rr/340i yes it does
The strut tower bolts on my 2014 328i (RWD) are 16 mm not 13 mm. Does this change the torque specs?
Hey Brian just out of curiosity what's the weight difference between steel and aluminum one ? And as always great video 🙂

Can i put one on a bmw f30 320d xdrive lci 2016 with a b47 engine ?
Are there strut bars for the f32, I can't find them anywhere
Chris, should i replace my sway bar endlinks and bushings for better handling ? Have a 440i, also is it 28 mm or 32 mm on the website.?
Bryan this front strut brace could work on a bmw f20?
I just installed it and does the strut bar cause an indentation on the hood liner?
Does it also work with 2015 428i F36 models?
I can attest that it makes a noticeable difference and that is with 17" wheels on my F30. I am having 18" M400 wheels installed and looking forward to how that feels. Does this fit the 330e it is lci with the b48 engine
Chris's strut brace video brought me here.
any neg effect on ride?
will this work on a f22?
I have a 330e I would imagine the difference would be even more noticeable given the cars extra 500 lbs of battery
I wish you would do some G30 content
I have a BMW 320i XDrive, how do i tell what engine i have? If its an N20 or not?
Google a BMW VIN decoder & enter in your VIN. It should provide you with a breakdown of your car's specs/features (including engine).
Nice channel
Bro .. how heavy are they?
does STRUT BRACE void your warranty?
What’s the difference between the aluminum and steel one?
😂 😂 😂
Weight
Sadly won’t work on a 328D
Why the extra 90 degrees
crossplane
That is the actual torque spec for those bolts from BMW. It’s in the Bentley manual and I would assume on sites like newtis.
crossplane
For my 2015 F32, the manual stated 28nm + 90 degree extra turn.
If this improves handling as claimed, why doesn’t BMW do this themselves instead of leaving it for after market?

Ovners? 😂😂
I was going to buy it but your website doesn’t have it 🤮
Is it good for Xdrive?
Hey Kies send me a strut brace 😂
I doubt it
