Last week I made a trip to New Jersey to see my friends at Kies Motorsports. On the first day we did a Stage 1 Bootmod3 tune which gave us massive gains in horsepower and torque. I was blown away how a simple tune could make such a big difference, considering that the engine is otherwise 100% stock.
We did a bunch of other mods including a complete overhaul of the interior. M Sport steering wheel, dry carbon fiber paddle shifters, P3 vent gauge, iDrive screen, Apple CarPlay.. Look for those videos some time in the future!

Got my F30 1.6i optimized a year ago, i went from 136 HP and 220 Nm to 240 HP and 340 Nm by just changing software, no chip no nothing was used. I also updated the software of the gearbox wich helps a lot in better shifting with the extra HP's. Drivin' it like this for year without any problems.
Hey Justin big thing people do with bootmod3 is an upgraded transmission flash, it significantly improves your throttle response and time of shifts to almost exact. I’ve seen a few videos on it you should definitely definitely try it if it’s available for the 340i

I am one of few who over-use it if that's possible. I'm on 2 wheels alot and I get really torqued by people who don't use them, I've had several near misses from lane changes with no signal.

Or could have just bought a car with those options already installed lol... Saves time and money especially on the used market the prices of cars with or without certain options, especially interior/tech upgrades is marginal or none. Y'all if you're looking for a car don't settle! Keep looking for the perfect one that has the options you want. There are so many cars out there, especially F30s now!
Aftermarket add-ons are so much better, because most of the packages include things you dont even need. I'll be using BimmerTech for a couple changes and my local owned shop for lightning, heated seats etc, because its cheaper, comes with a warranty, and will last longer than having to eventually replace after purchase on a used car.
@@TaylorMMontgomery So how long do you want people to keep looking. For over 12 months back in the days I was dying to find a white F10 with beige interior and B&O. Never found it. So why cant a person just buy one without all the options and just go ahead and upgrade instead. Its actually fun customizing your own car.
My other option was to just order a new car with all options needed about 80K sticker price which I clearly didn't have money for

Great little video. Hope the Turbo's hold up as it seems by the GPS devises that where on there might have been put on by the leasing companies to keep track of "Their" car and those types of owners don't usually let the engine temp get hot before they Burn rubber and therefore limit the life of turbos.

Nice hub dyno. I'm not 100% convinced of their static accuracy due to a few obvious factors, the torque output is centrally coupled. I'm curious, if the dimensions of the tire and rim and the total distribution of the rotating mass of the wheel assembly are taken into account, as well as what has to be done to the opposite side hub on a limited slip or open differential, and what effect it has on the power output dynamics?
That spireon should’ve definitely been hooked up elsewhere. It’s usually a safe bet to install them using power and ground from the 12V accessory port. I’ve seen guys hook them up to all kinds of places though, including the radio and headlight circuit, and it always causes problems.
Be careful with these tunes. They all work the same way. They turn off over-boost protection, anti-knock, and defeat engine timing pull. So yes you get more power but the reliability margin is now non-existent and the engine can’t protect itself. It’s okay if you understand the trade offs. Don’t do this if your car is under warranty.
Why I recommend going for an AC Schnitzer box because not only do they work with BMW techs, but it still stays under warranty.
It's a fkn hack ass way to tune I'd never suggest this EVER!!!
I'd be interested in knowing how much increase in intake temperature has happened as a result of the tune. It is pretty evident that the stock intercooler isn't up to the task after a few hard pulls. This isn't a good mod unless you're also doing supporting mods and your turbocharger life is going to be shorter as it is forced to spin way above its specific threshold.
Still got my pre-lci E90. Wish it was available. Still sticking around though.
Awesome gains can't wait for stage 2. I did stage one for about two weeks and then went stage 2 now running high 11s in the 1/4 mile👍

Hey bryan, do you guys install m-sport steering wheels and retrofit paddle shifters for customers? I have a 2015 320i xdrive with the base wheel and wanted to see if you guys would do that? Can't find a steering wheel anywhere that is compatible with my model and know you guys stopped selling them a while backz
Also money's not an issue, I'd just need to know if you guys could have that done for me and I'd definitely come to you guys to have it done, and was definitely looking into having new rims installed also. Probably would wanna do it before winter though

Would you recommend just the charge pipe upgrade? or should I do turbo inlet and turbo to intercooler upgrade as well?
What people don't consider, when you tune a car you also have to upgrade hardware components. With more hp comes more strain on the whole system. If you don't, the life span of the car will shorten.

As someone extremely new to mods, if I do the stage one on my '13 328ix sport, does it mess with smog? Should I flash back to stock tune before smog? I live in CA.

MHD seems to be lil cheaper, same thing, just curious if stage one and two on bootmod are the same as stage 1 and 2 using MHD??
Hey Justin, so since you paid for Stage 1, how much would it be to upgrade and tune it again to Stage 2 (after you've got the necessary mods to run it)
It would be free, BM3 includes all the OTS maps with the license.
As a previous E90 owner how does the steering/road feel compare to your current F30?
Also I thought B58s don’t need to upgrade the charge pipe, just the N55s
When we were out there we added a strut brace and it actually made a big difference in the steering feel. It’s still not the same as the E90, but it’s not a dealbreaker. After a while I got used to it, especially after I sold the E90 and wasn’t driving them both back to back.
As far as the charge pipes, maybe it’s too soon to tell if the B58’s need the upgrade, but I’d guess there’s some benefit changing from plastic to aluminum

Hey, I’m super late to the party lol I was just wondering what performance mods you’ve done (if any) to run the stage one map, I have a 2017 m240 which also has a b58 and was wondering what i would need.
Try closing the hood and measure your pulls, air disturbance/turbulence looses power, keep exterior fans blowing to grills
Did you upgrade his chargepipe before the tune tho? If it has the plastic one it will blow up eventually from the higher boost
I wonder how this would work for an Xdrive 535i msport. Will the xdrive freak out with the extra power since xdrive it is offered on the 550i also?
Awesome results, that platform can get some huge numbers, excited to see what’s next! I’d be interested in the chargepipe/ BOV and such discussed in the end of the video. Soooo much different than the supercharger life 😂

Decided to install a Dinantronics sport performance tuner on my latest 17 X5 35i M sport (sold my 13 X5 35i) and i got some the nastiest s**t i could ever think of.... car died on me twice. Had to be towed, battery boosted by AAA, engine lights, water pump fault codes. I took it off and all the problems stopped. Happy to run my newer X5 bone stock still got 320hp and 332lb/ft and im quite happy.
I know I'm late on the video and all but did you have a stock downpipe when you tuned or did you change it before?

You need to upgrade your exhaust, from middle section to back should be enough to make a good sound.

Hey man I wanna get a used bmw e90 328xi I don’t know a lot about the car any tips on picking the right car, also congruent the new car🤩🤩
These things only work if someone is looking. I used to supervise a sales team of 34 vehicles. All company cars. See I only looked when fuel consumption was up by a route, sales where down or you suspected foul play. Had speeding warnings set, not to 66 mph but more like 75, I also had a cross reference between their fuel charge cards and miles used to make sure they were not using the fuel card on personal cars. Had a sales route take the kid to school, come back home for 1hr for brkfst I guess, then start the route, pick up the kid at school, have lunch, to continue the route. Crazy, no one had noticed because his numbers were ok and up. But when the sales numbers were down we checked and found out what he had been doing. Even though the numbers were down, he did not change his routine. and was reprimanded for personal use of vehicle, interruption personal time while on company dime and others.
I just bought a 2013 335i and definitely wanna get it tuned. My buddy who had a heavily modded bmw said I should invest in a chargepipe,downpipe, and an intake before I get it tuned. Just wanted to get your opinion.
All great suggestions. The most important is the charge pipe. That’s all you need for stage 1. Intake and downpipe will help performance, but so will an intercooler. That will prevent the heat soak that was lowering their torque every run
Can you run this kind of tune on a f30 328i? And if so, what kind of numbers could I expect to achieve?

Now you have to tune the gearbox? The extra torque will have it shifting at a different rate. That can I assume also be done with a computer...
I want to don’t this with my 206 340i M-Sport but I’m nervous I’ll screw up my car. Would it be ok in the long term?

The engine can take it all stock maps are always really safe
The engine is okay, the horsepower is coming from increasing CO2 numbers which were tried to be decreased by the manufacturer. The engine is in it's natural habitat after the tunes

Does this work on a Porsche Cayman 2015 GTS.....I have seen so many videos that these software changes do not really work or contribute to torque loss in mid range. Do you have have experience with a flat six, non turbo, 3.4 L engine?
