For some reason a handful of ppl think that liking bts in any capacity = liking kpop 😭 kpop is more of an industry than a genre in my opinion; there’s too much variety. The only thing that ties them together is their ethnicity & high focus on visuals. This doesn’t really have much to do with your video, it’s just a peeve I have when ppl immediately recommend other kpop acts to someone getting into bts 💀 Blackpink have some great songs in all honesty, they’re just not my style.

@@tribeloui2023 Suga of BTS described it as "integrated content", and not a genre, actually. To quote him in a Q&A at the Grammy Museum, he said: “‘K-pop includes not just the music, but the clothes, the makeup, the choreography…all these elements I think sort of amalgamate together in a visual and auditory content package, that I think sets it apart from other music or maybe other genres so again, as I said, rather than approach K-pop as it’s own genre I think approaching it as this integration of different content would be better.”

i am an army but i give a lot of kpop releases a fair chance and i love some random kpop songs here and there. bp music was never enough to catch me. the things they were singing about in 2016 (which is more like the concept and the aesthetic than an actual substance in the lyrics) are the same they were singing about in 2022. they are not involved in the writing process so i dont see any artistic progress. i fail to see them as anything but trained pretty people with production behind them. even when i like the beat sometimes, i get tired of the song really fast. i just cant sustain myself on the savage, im-not-like-the-other-girls concept over and over and over again

Also an army, but I followed bp from their debut and in the beginning their songs did have variety, and then at some point YG decided that all their title tracks should have the same formula, sound and lyrics and that's what I don't understand - they have some great b-sides that are different - why not show off what they're capable of instead of giving us more of the same?? I don't blame the members because I know they aren't given any creative control, and honestly I'd be pissed if I spent half my childhood learning to dance and sing and making it through cut-throat competition against other trainees for the chance to debut only to end up as an Instagram brand ambassador who sings sometimes

As a fandom we are kinda used to like some reactors and then watching them react to everything saying they are great and life changing. It's just- nah, that's not true. The visuals are amazing bc that's the esencial thing in kpop, the catchy rythym too. The lyricsm? The instruments? The message? U can't find that everywhere. I've been following your journey with BTS since u reacted to hobi + j-cole and, of course, if u want to, it'd be great if you discover more korean artist u could like. U can find some out there freaking talented. Just stay real and we'll keep loving your reactions. Peace ♡

BlackPink ais known as a brand, not as artists or musicians. They release 2 songs every 2 years, so as not to lose sponsorships from luxury brands.
When asked what hiphop was for them (which is supposed to be the basis of their music) they said "hip-hop is the spirit of cool vibes, swag, whatever words you can use" ignoring how big and significant HipHop really is.
These girls always make the same song with meaningless empty lyrics, the music may seem powerful, but It is only a formula that they repeat in their discography of +7 years (that they use because it is easy money) because their producer does not strive to make something of better quality, 7 years in which they have had 0 artistic growth. BlackPink members don't even seem to care about music or art, other than being sponsored by luxury brands, It's public knowledge, their own fans know it, but they don't like to admit it out loud.
Girls are probably good at their own styles of music, but it's something no one knows because you'll never see BP take risks.
I'm telling you at once, if you're interested in good artists and good art, BlackPink isn't the right group.

"Blackpink doesnt care much about music or art" I believe Rosé is passionate in singing and music. There's a scene in their documentary where Rosé stays up and practices singing with her guitar, alone. She explained that it's been hard for her to find time to herself to practice, so whenever she has some time alone, she'd practice singing. She's also credited as a co-writer on her debut songs, "On The Ground" and "Gone". If you look at her TH-cam channel 'Rosesarerosie' you can see she's uploaded multiple song covers and she's been on singing 'shows' like Masked Singer and Begin Again.
I can't speak about the other members because tbh I don't see the others being as passionate in music or singing as Rosé, Lisa is clearly passionate for dancing but she's not a prominent vocalist.
Anyway, Blackpink as a whole doesn't seem that passionate in their craft nor are they involved much in the process, but Rosé seems to be the only member who actually genuinely likes music and enjoys singing.

So I was introduced to Blackpink through my 30 year old daughter, and I was intrigued by their sound, and the rapping and dancing was cool, and I checked them out and like them, but I didn't stay with them because their producer Teddy Park, wrote and produced most if not all of their music, and there wasn't a lot of music. When I follow an artists, I need to hear their flavor in the music. And while Black Pink does an amazing job owning the music they sing and perform, I want to hear their own lyrics and sounds. I think the closest we got to that was Whistle, Lovesick girls, and Rose's Solo Work. Even Lisa's solo work, even though I couldn't find any writing credits on hers. I think Teddy really captured her essence in her solo stuff.
I found BTS and through my recommendations because I was listening to Blackpink, and I found Korean artists I love through BTS, like Seo Taiji, Crush, IU, Taeyang (Big Bang), Tablo (Epik High), Paul Blanco, Cho Youjeen (Cherry Filter) and others, as well as Hip Hop/RnB Artists from the west that I would never have listened to if it weren't for BTS's influences and collaborations, like Erikah Badu, Wale, Warren G, Anderson Paak, Juice WRLD, and J-Cole.
BTS are 100% genuine and have written and produced their own music from the beginning. And their messages and talents really resonated with me, so it was easy for me to become BTS ARMY. I found them in 2020 during the pandemic, and their music helped me through a lot of really tough times. The BE album was my first comeback with BTS, and amazingly enoug, it was the song J-Hope created with JIMIN - DIS-EASE - that got me to love their album BE. On first listen with no subtitles. It just hit me like a ray of light. So Dynamite Drew me in, Black Swan made me ARMY, and DIS-EASE made me a serious fan, and I checked out J-Hope's HOPE WORLD from there. And his music helped me also.
Now I'm not hating on Blackpink, nor will I ever hate on them. They work hard and are amazing performance artists, but they just aren't for me. My daughter is a die hard Blackpink Fan, and I am happy for her. I support her love for them. It's all love and respect for music. And we also have to keep in mind that Blackpink comes from an agency that doesn't give the same artistic freedom to their artists, and even less to their female artists. But I'm hoping that will change.

They are super catchy I totally give them that but they've never been my favorite based on lyrics, performance, or sound personally. I really like BTS and a handful of other kpop acts because of various aspects like unique music (dreamcatcher), performance(twice), or artistic journey/experimentation(txt, stray kids). You are so real for this and gained a subscriber. I’m another one of the people who immediately starts to doubt reactors if they put music like this on the same level as BTS, and I really appreciate reactors like you who are paying attention to lyrics and messages and talking about what has meaning to you. To give Blackpink their flowers, they are all super talented and seem like lovely girls…but they have so little creative input and their producer has a grand total of one move. It feels like half their lyrics are literal nonsense words (ddu ddu ya ya ya ya ratatata) to the point it feels like I’m listening to placeholder lyrics from a demo track lol. And the fact that they have so little input bums me out because I’ve found that the songs they do have input on resonate with me more, like Lovesick Girls or Rose’s solo song On the Ground. Ngl Rose’s song was so good that I was lowkey excited for their comeback and was there for the premiere of their new song Pink Venom and all I heard was “woh woh woh ah ah ah ratatata” and I was just like oh jeez not again. 😂 Two years between comebacks and that’s what you come up with, wow. Meanwhile there are BTS songs that I can literally credit with changing my life (Paradise, Tomorrow, RM’s recent song No.2 just to name the first three of many that popped into my head). All K-pop is not created equal. Keep doing you and bringing the honesty, it’s rare and refreshing.

From what I understand and from what I've heard they sure do make catchy, girl boss music, yet that material hasn't really changed and there's no substance. I get that it's not really the fault of the girls, their label has the most control, but even then, it's not about blame. It is as is, and I, personally, don't enjoy the music, I won't go out of my way to listen. Substance matters in the music I listen to, that's why I am a fan of BTS and a casual listener to the rest of kpop. Blackpink have yet to evolve their sound and they should because the concept is getting old. If you don't have the music then what do you truly have left? The visuals? The choreography? The vocals or rap? What do those matter if what you're saying doesn't have much meaning beyond 'I'm a boss b**ch and I have money'.

Bigbang, iKon, Winner, 2ne1, Akmu, se7en, Gummy (idk about Treasure tho bcz I never listen to them) but the company are really famous since gen2 for that aspect. The freedom for their music that SM artist doesn't have, YG artist have it. So I really don't understand why BP shows no improvement musically at all.

People don't really understand why everyone is biased with BTS..They say BTS is overrated no BTS is that one group who changed the trajectory of Kpop in general.. You will hear a lot of kpop artists and they all have the same overused agenda of Visuals in MV and efforts to make the song trendy to make their idols go viral.. But what BTS focuses on is music in general and the long run of it.. Yeah they do have some trendy songs but for most part BTS make music that will last for a lifetime and you won't lose the feeling no matter how many times you come back to it.. Their music will give the same comfort and same energy it did when you heard it for the first time.. Meanwhile kpop is a contractual industry they focus on making Idols not artists so once the artist leaves just like once the trend is over and you comeback the music sounds noisy and you keep wondering what made you like it in the first place. Because trends keep changing new artist will come up with more catchy phrases and sounds.. But with BTS we don't have to worry about that.. I'm not targeting anyone but yeah Kpop is versatile you will find all shorts of genre of music but at the same time the algorithm and the idea of serving Visuals remains the same.. Still to this date Kpop works with K beauty standards and visuals in general and that will keep affecting the music this industry creates..It will take decades and decades to find a group half as like BTS.

The thing about kpop is that its pageantry at it's core. The medium is music, but the point is the presentation. The fashion, the synchronization, the big production sets and scenes, the execution of facial expressions...the music is really just something to make the aesthetic presentation more entertaining. And you can tell because the music is often really generic, the lyrics are barely there (mostly sound effects, honestly), and the production is noisy and redundant. And there's not even a lot of weight or attention paid to vocal delivery or rap. Most groups don't even perform live because they don't have to. They're not singers, they're idols. There are some groups that are great at the presentation aspect. A ton of them actually. And personally, I enjoy pageantry most of the time and I recognize the attention to detail it takes. It's impressive what some of these kpop groups do. But when it comes to my music, I just need something more. And very few groups have been able to check that box for me. BTS is the only group I stan (and a lot of ARMYs are that way). Aside from them, the only two groups I've invested in at all are TXT (the only other group from BTS' label - "BTS' Little Brothers) and Mamamoo (a group of women who are all incredible vocalists who have a lot of control over their music).
Anyway, I just appreciate you keeping it real. Every reactor who starts with BTS gets recommended other groups in the comments and then they react to all of them the same and it feels so disingenuous. It's entirely possible they like them all. But if you're treating them like they're the same thing...that's just questionable.

Wow, this earned you a subscriber. I’m not used to this honesty. Most people start with BTS, then kpoppies will flood the comment section pressuring people to react to their favs, because in their minds “kpop” is a group project and if you like one then you must like them all. Reactors go on to claim liking EVERY.SINGLE.SONG and going on about how amazing they are even though it’s obviously only for views, then suddenly proclaiming to be a part of each fandom……it’s like clockwork. Then all of the sudden here you are actually admitting to not liking it? Refreshing. I’m not saying I’m gonna follow just because you didn’t like a bp song lol, it’s just that it’s that rare to find an honest reactor. The girls are pretty, but that’s about it. For me anyways. Don’t hate them, don’t like them, they’re just there. We don’t expect people to love every single BTS song, as long as they’re respected I’m good.
