So what makes Mamamoo different in my opinion is their voices and the fact that they write and participate in the song writing/album making process. They are also older than the typical groups and give a more mature vibe that isn’t seen in Kpop these days. I would highly suggest reacting to their Dingo Killing voice performance/medley. And also I think you’d liked Hwasa’s songs. PS Although, I think objectively we can say that there is no one like BTS. And many people will tell you that and say they don’t like Kpop in general, I’m one of those but I appreciate talent and the music that does something to me. Period.

Mamamoo literally monsters on stage. I was shocked when watched their live performances for the first time. Damn, they singing all of it live during their concerts, despite hard singing parts and dance. The best vocals live group for me.

i love that you mentioned how their lyrics don't put down others to bring themselves up. that's what I always found different in Mamamoo's songs. I'd say 90% of other songs about self-confidence are all "I'm richer and more popular than you" or "you wish you were me". meanwhile, mamamoo is like "I'm worthy of love and respect, and so are you". it's so comforting to listen to and i love them so much for that, especially since they take part in writing the lyrics, Moonbyul in particular. here are some of my favourites by them that i highly recommend: - Yes i Am: it's another song about self-confidence, specifically regarding beauty standards and the ways they all choose to deviate from it. it mentions how they love their facial features that are generally considered "ugly" in korea, such as chubby cheeks, monolids, indian dimples (or whisker dimples), etc. i discovered them through this song and you can understand why i fell in love immediately. - Star Wind Flower Sun: song about the four of them and their fans, it's written by Solar and Moonbyul - 4x4ever: about cyberbullying and anonymous hate comments online - Maria: a sort of love letter from Hwasa to herself, where she tells herself that she's beautiful regardless of what other people say (since she has gotten a lot of hate for being "fat and ugly") - Diamond: if you like songs about lust, you'll like this one lmao plus Moonbyul's rap in this goes HARD - Bad Bye: it's a breakup song but again, a fucking banger rap by Moonbyul and the vocals are out of this world - Sleep In The Car: a joke song written by the members about how they have to sleep in the car because of their busy schedule. it's almost entirely a hip-hop song with a few vocals parts by Solar and Wheein. Moonbyul GOES HARD with the rap in this one, and Hwasa also raps in it. - Piano Man: it's one of their older songs, and it's such a bop! - I Love Too: a song dedicated to their fans, it's really sweet and wholesome - Ten Nights: another ballad and Moonbyul hits a high note here, it's so beautiful. she's such an all-rounder fr

As an ARMY, i approve of Mamamoo. I have watched some of their performances and can confirm that they’re very talented and have insane vocals. They’re the only GG group that i can say are REAL performers.
Mamamoo and BTS are also my ult favourite of all the groups out there. I feel like the reason why mamamoo stood out from all the other girl groups is the fact that they are involved in the creating process. Usually smaller companies (which both mamamoo and BTS started in) do not have enough resource, only with a small team (RBW and Bighit’s CEO are still their producers for a lot of songs with a right-hand composer/producer in the house). This allows the artists to pump in their inputs starting from an early stage and grow much faster and stronger as an artist. Mamamoo started off with composing parts of the choreo + lyrics and BTS started with b-sides of their music, both production-wise and lyrics. For girl groups, unfortunately there are (STILL) more gender stereotypes about their style… Most are expected to be cute/bubbly/sexy, purely visual. So company people just assumed that they want nothing with the creating process and just feed whatever concept they want the girl group to do to the girls. Mamamoo did not went for that path as they were deemed not fitting into the “Korean beauty standard” at the time. They turned into performances. Sharpening their vocals/raps and really find the group style by blending their voices. Ladies also weren’t given as much chance to do solos as guys. Without solo projects, it’s really hard to portray who they are and their music values. Anyway… these are some of the scenes that I observed from years of following the k-industry besides other factors like maturity that was mentioned. Trying to explain the phenomenon of why girl group music, esp their lyrics seems so generic, without killing out too much of the vibes. Some girl group still hits HARD with their performances (2nd generation hint hint..). Respect to that!! AAAAND Congrats you have found your wives and husbands of the kpop industry. We can ALL share them 😂💚💜
bro mamamoo is amazing. and they are all hella talented. moonbyul (the rapper) is, as far as i know, the most credited female kpop artist in the korean music copyright association. you calling her money boo killed me for real tho 😆 fun fact: her name moonbyul literally means moonstar (byul = star) so her song eclipse is that much more interesting! also another little fun fact, she used to be in a little group chat with jin from bts, with other idols who were born in 92, and she, and all of mamamoo tbh, have shown huge respect towards bts and what they did for the industry.

Mamamoo is the only girl group in kpop I can listen to. They have some songs of my taste, good music, different from the kpop cliches, great vocals, good raps, AND sound like women, when most others sound like kids.
I feel like mamamoo has the vocals that aren't found in many other kpop groups. If you watch the killing voice video you can really appreciate it with a run-through of a variety of their songs

MAMAMOO! They are to first girl group ive stanned and second group i stanned after BTS. 13:26 That was a snippet of Hwasa's song(the one with black hair in that mv) Be Calm. A solo song off their group album Yellow Flower. Each member has a color/symbol for themselves. All of their personal solo albums bang and you'll discover even more good artists through their features. They are all talented singers with different tones and like to push boundaries and do what they want with their music esp. solo projects. IF you decide to do a deep dive watch their 2 part guide by Purple Hawke. its outdated because they've put out more music since then but its still really good to start with.

I've liked MAMAMOO, but hadn't gone out of my way to listen to their older music. And Starry Night hooked me for sure. Plus I've been crushing on Hwasa for awhile. Mamamoo has a wide discography with different genres of music so you're in for a ride! :) These ladies didn't stop making music since their debut 9 yrs ago, whether the public liked it or not, they just go go go. Unlike most idols these days, these ladies are not in it for the fame. At the very core of what they do is their love for making music. All members are also successful soloists with differfent vibes. My favorite member is wheein because her voice is healing, like I would put on her music during a commute or when i want to chill. Here's to your mamamoo journey!

Welcome to Mamamoo. They are the best of the best. All of the members have very good solo music. But I’m glad you like Moonbyul (the rapper) cause she is my favorite too. She has just compete in a conpetition name Second World and the song she sang in that contest literally helped me get through the hardest moment in my life. The song name is Refuge (you should search Moonbyul Refuge - Second world). My mom had a heart attack and was in the hospital that night, I had took care of her for more than 48h non sleep and I was exhausted, scare and lonely. I listened to that song hoping that it’ll help keep me awake but It did more than that, It gave me the strength and confident to continue.
Eeyyy mamamoo vocal queens 👑. Tht little excerpt at the end of starry night is a Hwasa solo. She is the youngest and was the one with dark hair in starry night. I love her voice so much and they're all gorgeous vocally and looks wise but hwasa she holds my heart lol. Edit: ah yes moon byul is fire her name is pronounced moon as in ☪ sun and moon and Byul is like bull but with a y, byul. They're awesome live, ik killing voice will be recommended b'cuz it's live and has a snippet of their hits that they sing ( though if you do react to it they were sick when they performed that day, hwasa i think struggled alot but you wouldnt tell just by hearing them. They killed it.) They're known for being more mature then other groups both in age and content wise ( as in they are more sexy in their style lol) they're alot of fun. Solar is the eldest with the power belts and baby face, then moonstar the rapper, Wheein is the most agile vocally I'd say she's very versatile with her voice and sounds like an angel, then hwasa is the most stylistic vocally she has a more sultry sound.
I would also recommend 'mamamoo killing voice' you can hear their voices when it's live (there's some engineering/production but you can definitely hear their real voices and also see their fun personalities a bit. Like others have said mamamoo is different when it comes to girl groups that they actually show more of their real personality in interviews and shows. Their lyrics still aren't that deep if that's what you're looking for; it's mostly love songs, but their vibe is awesome. Another fun video to watch from them could be 'Solar and Moonbyul part chance' again they sing live and show their friendship, it's super cute. (also the video is on Solar's own youtube channel, she makes all kinds of videos of her life and stuff she wants to try out, idk if any other kpop artist does this) (this is mostly a joke so don't come at me, people in the comments, but it's funny how you picked the most sapphic member as your favourite. Byul is the word for star) You will often hear the members or Moonbyul herself call her moonstar which is the literal translation of her name, plus it almost sounds like they are calling her a monster (moon star/ monster). Mamamoo is my favorite female group! They are talented, kind goofballs and that’s why I love them. To really appreciate Mamamoo, you gotta see them live!!!😍 Like BTS, Mamamoo came from a small label so they had to fight to get where they are. I’m not apart of their fandom(I believe it’s called MooMoo) yet, but I know they’d be right next to BTS once I fully dive into knowing them.💜 From my understanding, their song Hip is about the attention, criticism and hate they have received. For example, Hwasa(Aka Maria, I believe it’s her baptized name. She had short hair in the Hip mv) has received a lot of hate. One of the biggest reasons is because she doesn’t fit the Korean beauty standards for most Idols. She’s literally gotten hate because she didn’t wear a bra!!! I know it’s a different culture from mine(I live in the US and have never been to Korea), but it crazy to me that people called her fat. Like someone literally told her she had a great voice, but she’d never make it because of her looks. Starry Night is still one of my favorite songs by them!!! Also, that ending part was from one of Hwasa’s solo songs.
Out of all k-pop female groups I personally think MAMAMOO delivers the best vocals and music in general. They are not as popular as some other groups but the quality of music and voices and the character are all there in good proportions. What you might find nice to watch is the MAMAMOO Dingo performance where they sing live short fragments of their song from different albums - great vocals and a really cool way to see their range. Mamamoo are queens. Well known feminists and more mature image than most female K-pop groups that all lean into sexuality/cute mamamoo is a more mature sound topics and their vocals are immaculate. Love them a lot. Moonbyul the rapper is close friends with Jin of BTS as the groups are a similar age and been around about the same length of time.

I never got into their music (not my thing) but they seem to have great personalities and they're very entertaining everytime I see them on TV shows or random clips.. plus, I love that they often push the boundaries of the cultural expectations of how they "should" behave 😆
Mamamoo is a very talented group. All four are very vocally skilled. They have an amazing stage presence. And they trully enjoy performing. Moonbyul is writes her own raps and is the most credited female idol. She has very varied music, she likes to explore different genres. You will have a good time exploring Mamamoo and Moonbyul, or even other girls solo works. They all have solo albums and are all worth the watch.

I'm not a "stan" since my brain has barely enough room for BTS, but out all the girl groups, they're my favorites BY FAR (and Dreamcatcher). and not gonna lie, their rapping doesn't sound cringey like many other ggs I've heard (is Moonbyul her name? Mamamoo is amaaazing. Totally recommend the Mamamoo Killing Voice video! Also PurpleHawke's Introducing Mamamoo videos. They're a bit outdated now but they're still some of the best Mamamoo introduction videos out there. Now for some background: a lot of people refer to Mamamoo as a sort of female BTS, because like with BTS, Mamamoo is from a small company. They have a crap ton of talent. They're amazing vocalists and can hold up amazingly live (and also have meaningful lyrics), but still they struggle to get play because of their small company status. They're also mostly unconventional idols. Moonbyul, the member you were most drawn to, stands out in the world of kpop as being less drawn to stereotypically 'girly' stuff and being more androgynous/tending more towards more 'masculine' dance moves and rapping styles. fun fact, she's a songwriter too! I just really can't remember diving into Mamamoo enough. They're great and so much fun. Solar and Moonbyul even have their own youtube channels - 'Solasido' and 'Moonbyul2da' respectively. Not that you have to check these out but they're just cool, fun dorks behind the scenes ^^ EDIT: Don't know how I forgot about this considering I was talking about Byul and Solar is literally my bias BUT lol Moonbyul (and Solar) actually have new music coming out right now. They have a subunit that's just the two of them called Mamamoo+. They have an album coming out this coming Wednesday called Act 1, Scene 1. There's the prerelease song from it out now - 나쁜 놈/Chico Malo - and their main single from the album, GGBB, will be dropping Wednesday morning.

This is so relatable because I started with BTS and then tried to check out girl groups, blackpink included, and I couldn’t vibe with any until Mamamoo. They are just different. Real artists, insane vocals and harmonies, incredible rapping (pretty sure Moonbyul one of the most credited female idols), good songs with a message and they are so beautiful. But when they debut in 2014, they weren’t considered pretty and couldn’t rely on their looks so they focused on their talents and performances. Please check out their Killing Voice, they sing live snippets of their songs, it’s incredible. Then watch some of their live performances because that’s where they really shine with their adlibs and interactions with the audience.

G Idle has a 🔥 rapper too, she produces and writes most of their stuff and comes up with their concepts too. Worth a listen.
35 yr. old man here. I listen to them almost every day. They are a very talented group as well as individually. They easily cover a wide range of genres and always put out great songs. There is nothing wrong listening to Mamamoo as a man. To not listen to them is to miss out on how talented they all are. I recommend watching their Immortal Songs performances.

There are definitely a good share of girl and boy groups in kpop that focus on the superficial, but I think that might just be a music industry thing everywhere. Finding the gems of artists, like Mamamoo are highlights! The member's individual stuff is nice as well and if you want another girl group with some darkness I suggest Dreamcatcher they are one of my favs concept and sound wise!
mamamoo is the only kpop girl group that i am a fan of. and what gets me is their live performances, their crackhead energy and the genuine bond of the members. the fact that they participate in making their music is the cherry on top. pretty much the same reasons bts is the only boygroup i listen to. love that you appreciate them too
I'm so glad you're checking out Mamamoo. I'm an Army but I regularly listen to these girls. Their talent is amazing but their vocal ability is something else. You'll notice a pattern. Most BTS fans don't like Kpop, however ALOT, and I mean ALOT, of BTS fans love mamamoo. Just like BTS, they're talented as a group but just as talented individually. They write most of their music themselves, again just like BTS, and they are just as down to earth and crackhead-y(word?) as BTS are. New Jeans in particular are KILLING kpop right now. They are in their first year as a group and making it onto BB hot 100 chart. New Jeans songs I recommend are Attention, OMG, and Hurt
When you watch Mamamoo perform live, whether it’s a huge arena or in front of a few hundred fans you can tell that they love what they do, they want to be there and they are enjoying themselves. They don’t perform like robots. They are all accomplished entertainers who are totally comfortable being on stage in front of people.

So what makes Mamamoo different in my opinion is their voices and the fact that they write and participate in the song writing/album making process. They are also older than the typical groups and give a more mature vibe that isn’t seen in Kpop these days. I would highly suggest reacting to their Dingo Killing voice performance/medley. And also I think you’d liked Hwasa’s songs.
PS Although, I think objectively we can say that there is no one like BTS. And many people will tell you that and say they don’t like Kpop in general, I’m one of those but I appreciate talent and the music that does something to me. Period.

i love that you mentioned how their lyrics don't put down others to bring themselves up. that's what I always found different in Mamamoo's songs. I'd say 90% of other songs about self-confidence are all "I'm richer and more popular than you" or "you wish you were me". meanwhile, mamamoo is like "I'm worthy of love and respect, and so are you". it's so comforting to listen to and i love them so much for that, especially since they take part in writing the lyrics, Moonbyul in particular.
here are some of my favourites by them that i highly recommend:
- Yes i Am: it's another song about self-confidence, specifically regarding beauty standards and the ways they all choose to deviate from it. it mentions how they love their facial features that are generally considered "ugly" in korea, such as chubby cheeks, monolids, indian dimples (or whisker dimples), etc. i discovered them through this song and you can understand why i fell in love immediately.
- Star Wind Flower Sun: song about the four of them and their fans, it's written by Solar and Moonbyul
- 4x4ever: about cyberbullying and anonymous hate comments online
- Maria: a sort of love letter from Hwasa to herself, where she tells herself that she's beautiful regardless of what other people say (since she has gotten a lot of hate for being "fat and ugly")
- Diamond: if you like songs about lust, you'll like this one lmao plus Moonbyul's rap in this goes HARD
- Bad Bye: it's a breakup song but again, a fucking banger rap by Moonbyul and the vocals are out of this world
- Sleep In The Car: a joke song written by the members about how they have to sleep in the car because of their busy schedule. it's almost entirely a hip-hop song with a few vocals parts by Solar and Wheein. Moonbyul GOES HARD with the rap in this one, and Hwasa also raps in it.
- Piano Man: it's one of their older songs, and it's such a bop!
- I Love Too: a song dedicated to their fans, it's really sweet and wholesome
- Ten Nights: another ballad and Moonbyul hits a high note here, it's so beautiful. she's such an all-rounder fr
MAMAMOO queens and. the only girl group in kpop that I like. Their vocals are not high pitched and they have more mature look, plus great songwriters too. Great reaction.

As an ARMY, i approve of Mamamoo. I have watched some of their performances and can confirm that they’re very talented and have insane vocals. They’re the only GG group that i can say are REAL performers.
Mamamoo and BTS are also my ult favourite of all the groups out there.
I feel like the reason why mamamoo stood out from all the other girl groups is the fact that they are involved in the creating process.
Usually smaller companies (which both mamamoo and BTS started in) do not have enough resource, only with a small team (RBW and Bighit’s CEO are still their producers for a lot of songs with a right-hand composer/producer in the house). This allows the artists to pump in their inputs starting from an early stage and grow much faster and stronger as an artist.
Mamamoo started off with composing parts of the choreo + lyrics and BTS started with b-sides of their music, both production-wise and lyrics.
For girl groups, unfortunately there are (STILL) more gender stereotypes about their style… Most are expected to be cute/bubbly/sexy, purely visual. So company people just assumed that they want nothing with the creating process and just feed whatever concept they want the girl group to do to the girls.
Mamamoo did not went for that path as they were deemed not fitting into the “Korean beauty standard” at the time. They turned into performances. Sharpening their vocals/raps and really find the group style by blending their voices.
Ladies also weren’t given as much chance to do solos as guys. Without solo projects, it’s really hard to portray who they are and their music values.
Anyway… these are some of the scenes that I observed from years of following the k-industry besides other factors like maturity that was mentioned. Trying to explain the phenomenon of why girl group music, esp their lyrics seems so generic, without killing out too much of the vibes. Some girl group still hits HARD with their performances (2nd generation hint hint..). Respect to that!!

Mamamoo is the only girl group in kpop I can listen to. They have some songs of my taste, good music, different from the kpop cliches, great vocals, good raps, AND sound like women, when most others sound like kids.
I feel like mamamoo has the vocals that aren't found in many other kpop groups. If you watch the killing voice video you can really appreciate it with a run-through of a variety of their songs

MAMAMOO! They are to first girl group ive stanned and second group i stanned after BTS. 13:26 That was a snippet of Hwasa's song(the one with black hair in that mv) Be Calm. A solo song off their group album Yellow Flower. Each member has a color/symbol for themselves. All of their personal solo albums bang and you'll discover even more good artists through their features. They are all talented singers with different tones and like to push boundaries and do what they want with their music esp. solo projects. IF you decide to do a deep dive watch their 2 part guide by Purple Hawke. its outdated because they've put out more music since then but its still really good to start with.

I've liked MAMAMOO, but hadn't gone out of my way to listen to their older music. And Starry Night hooked me for sure. Plus I've been crushing on Hwasa for awhile. Mamamoo has a wide discography with different genres of music so you're in for a ride! :) These ladies didn't stop making music since their debut 9 yrs ago, whether the public liked it or not, they just go go go. Unlike most idols these days, these ladies are not in it for the fame. At the very core of what they do is their love for making music. All members are also successful soloists with differfent vibes. My favorite member is wheein because her voice is healing, like I would put on her music during a commute or when i want to chill. Here's to your mamamoo journey!

Mamamoo are so special and incredibly talented. Truly in a league of their own. As a side note, the MV for Starry Night is filmed in the north island of New Zealand - the west coast beaches are truly some of the most beautiful in the world. This is why starry night has a special place in my heart.

Welcome to Mamamoo. They are the best of the best. All of the members have very good solo music. But I’m glad you like Moonbyul (the rapper) cause she is my favorite too. She has just compete in a conpetition name Second World and the song she sang in that contest literally helped me get through the hardest moment in my life. The song name is Refuge (you should search Moonbyul Refuge - Second world). My mom had a heart attack and was in the hospital that night, I had took care of her for more than 48h non sleep and I was exhausted, scare and lonely. I listened to that song hoping that it’ll help keep me awake but It did more than that, It gave me the strength and confident to continue.

Edit: ah yes moon byul is fire her name is pronounced moon as in ☪ sun and moon and Byul is like bull but with a y, byul. They're awesome live, ik killing voice will be recommended b'cuz it's live and has a snippet of their hits that they sing ( though if you do react to it they were sick when they performed that day, hwasa i think struggled alot but you wouldnt tell just by hearing them. They killed it.) They're known for being more mature then other groups both in age and content wise ( as in they are more sexy in their style lol) they're alot of fun. Solar is the eldest with the power belts and baby face, then moonstar the rapper, Wheein is the most agile vocally I'd say she's very versatile with her voice and sounds like an angel, then hwasa is the most stylistic vocally she has a more sultry sound.

I would also recommend 'mamamoo killing voice' you can hear their voices when it's live (there's some engineering/production but you can definitely hear their real voices and also see their fun personalities a bit. Like others have said mamamoo is different when it comes to girl groups that they actually show more of their real personality in interviews and shows. Their lyrics still aren't that deep if that's what you're looking for; it's mostly love songs, but their vibe is awesome. Another fun video to watch from them could be 'Solar and Moonbyul part chance' again they sing live and show their friendship, it's super cute. (also the video is on Solar's own youtube channel, she makes all kinds of videos of her life and stuff she wants to try out, idk if any other kpop artist does this)

I’m not apart of their fandom(I believe it’s called MooMoo) yet, but I know they’d be right next to BTS once I fully dive into knowing them.💜
From my understanding, their song Hip is about the attention, criticism and hate they have received. For example, Hwasa(Aka Maria, I believe it’s her baptized name. She had short hair in the Hip mv) has received a lot of hate. One of the biggest reasons is because she doesn’t fit the Korean beauty standards for most Idols. She’s literally gotten hate because she didn’t wear a bra!!! I know it’s a different culture from mine(I live in the US and have never been to Korea), but it crazy to me that people called her fat. Like someone literally told her she had a great voice, but she’d never make it because of her looks.
Starry Night is still one of my favorite songs by them!!! Also, that ending part was from one of Hwasa’s solo songs.

Out of all k-pop female groups I personally think MAMAMOO delivers the best vocals and music in general. They are not as popular as some other groups but the quality of music and voices and the character are all there in good proportions. What you might find nice to watch is the MAMAMOO Dingo performance where they sing live short fragments of their song from different albums - great vocals and a really cool way to see their range. I’ve never really listened to much to Mamamoo but I’m gonna have to tune in. They’re music is so good. And I think I also just fell in love with Moonbyul
their vocals really make them stand out among other GGs. I'm not a "stan" since my brain has barely enough room for BTS, but out all the girl groups, they're my favorites BY FAR (and Dreamcatcher).
and not gonna lie, their rapping doesn't sound cringey like many other ggs I've heard (is Moonbyul her name? I really like her)
Mamamoo is amaaazing. Totally recommend the Mamamoo Killing Voice video! Also PurpleHawke's Introducing Mamamoo videos. They're a bit outdated now but they're still some of the best Mamamoo introduction videos out there.
Now for some background: a lot of people refer to Mamamoo as a sort of female BTS, because like with BTS, Mamamoo is from a small company. They have a crap ton of talent. They're amazing vocalists and can hold up amazingly live (and also have meaningful lyrics), but still they struggle to get play because of their small company status. They're also mostly unconventional idols.
Moonbyul, the member you were most drawn to, stands out in the world of kpop as being less drawn to stereotypically 'girly' stuff and being more androgynous/tending more towards more 'masculine' dance moves and rapping styles.

I just really can't remember diving into Mamamoo enough. They're great and so much fun. Solar and Moonbyul even have their own youtube channels - 'Solasido' and 'Moonbyul2da' respectively. Not that you have to check these out but they're just cool, fun dorks behind the scenes ^^
EDIT: Don't know how I forgot about this considering I was talking about Byul and Solar is literally my bias BUT lol Moonbyul (and Solar) actually have new music coming out right now. They have a subunit that's just the two of them called Mamamoo+. They have an album coming out this coming Wednesday called Act 1, Scene 1. There's the prerelease song from it out now - 나쁜 놈/Chico Malo - and their main single from the album, GGBB, will be dropping Wednesday morning.

oops didn't finish anyway, Moonbyul has enough solo songs for a solo video for sureeee, I love her solo work. I also highly recommend watercolor by wheein, maria by hwasa, and better by mamamoo+ (aka moonbyul and solar)
Mamamoo live vocals are next level. Also Hwasa's Maria live is like a spiritual experience. Hers was the voice at the end of Starry Night
I actually don't qualify mamamoo as a kpop idol because they are all DIVA in a group and I love their collabs outside the group

Yes, i like these girls cos they are genuine.
This is so relatable because I started with BTS and then tried to check out girl groups, blackpink included, and I couldn’t vibe with any until Mamamoo. They are just different. Real artists, insane vocals and harmonies, incredible rapping (pretty sure Moonbyul one of the most credited female idols), good songs with a message and they are so beautiful. But when they debut in 2014, they weren’t considered pretty and couldn’t rely on their looks so they focused on their talents and performances. Please check out their Killing Voice, they sing live snippets of their songs, it’s incredible. Then watch some of their live performances because that’s where they really shine with their adlibs and interactions with the audience.
Mamamoo es la mejor GG no por su "impacto" sino porque cada una de ellas tiene su propia esencia y una voz increíble... además las chicas son super genuinas y en la tierra, no son básica con sus letras o artificiales. No hay nadie como BTS, pero mamamoo son increíbles.
The BlackPink trauma is real 😂 Mamamoo is definitely one of the best ggs out there. I also like Le Sserafim and G Idle. They have good lyrics and are involved in making their music. G Idle has a 🔥 rapper too, she produces and writes most of their stuff and comes up with their concepts too. Worth a listen.
They definitely have one of the best discography in kpop
35 yr. old man here. I listen to them almost every day. They are a very talented group as well as individually. They easily cover a wide range of genres and always put out great songs. There is nothing wrong listening to Mamamoo as a man. To not listen to them is to miss out on how talented they all are.
I recommend watching their Immortal Songs performances.
I subbed for BTS but Mamamoo are my girls!!!! They're vocal beasts and well deserving of so much more recognition. Moonbyul seems to be your bias :) She is awesome!!!!!!

There are definitely a good share of girl and boy groups in kpop that focus on the superficial, but I think that might just be a music industry thing everywhere. Finding the gems of artists, like Mamamoo are highlights! The member's individual stuff is nice as well and if you want another girl group with some darkness I suggest Dreamcatcher they are one of my favs concept and sound wise!
mamamoo is the only kpop girl group that i am a fan of. and what gets me is their live performances, their crackhead energy and the genuine bond of the members. the fact that they participate in making their music is the cherry on top. pretty much the same reasons bts is the only boygroup i listen to. love that you appreciate them too

I'm so glad you're checking out Mamamoo. I'm an Army but I regularly listen to these girls. Their talent is amazing but their vocal ability is something else. You'll notice a pattern. Most BTS fans don't like Kpop, however ALOT, and I mean ALOT, of BTS fans love mamamoo. Just like BTS, they're talented as a group but just as talented individually. They write most of their music themselves, again just like BTS, and they are just as down to earth and crackhead-y(word?) as BTS are. Hope you check out more of them :)
Edit: And I feel you on Moonbyul. When you said in one of your Jimin videos "I never felt my sexuality shake so much", that's how I feel with Moonbyul lol. I'm a woman that has always been attracted to men, but that all changed with Moonbyul. She is literally a goddess lol
Plus Jin and Moonbyul are good friends. And Solar is probably the biggest ARMY amongst active idols. She's covered BTS songs and can't sit still when Blood sweat and tears is playing.

Probably their most popular song is not in this video! Gotta do mamamoo egotistic! I also highly recommend hwasa’s solo work. I personally love Twit by Hwasa and LMM by Hwasa. The mamamoo girls are great.
Other girl groups that I recommend are Le Seraphim and New Jeans- they are both HYBE groups and come from the same company as BTS, so the music on point. New Jeans in particular are KILLING kpop right now. They are in their first year as a group and making it onto BB hot 100 chart. New Jeans songs I recommend are Attention, OMG, and Hurt
When you watch Mamamoo perform live, whether it’s a huge arena or in front of a few hundred fans you can tell that they love what they do, they want to be there and they are enjoying themselves. They don’t perform like robots. They are all accomplished entertainers who are totally comfortable being on stage in front of people.
