Many people are asking why the Maxwell isn't in this video, which is a great indicator of how successful it has been. The Maxwell is an amazing headset, and easily one of my favorites of all time. I initially thought this was a range issue but nope, even from just 6ft away the issue persists. Audio quality is amazing, no issues here. I picked up an AceZone A-spire based on your review here. Got it lightly used for $138. Very excited to try it compared to my HD 560S for gaming performance. I may just have to pick up that VZR Model One as well on the black Friday deal!
is it worth it? I should say, that i’m playing fps shooter … i‘m using a nova wireless pro but with 3,5mm connected to a topping dx3 pro plus… but i‘m not happy in the momennt. I also tried my Beyer DT880 pro (250ohm) and my Sennheiser HD600 but i‘m still not satisfied :( I also tried the truthear hola and they are maybe better for positioning as all these other very expensive headphones
Cool video that randomly popped up. I've had the stealth pro wireless and regret it so much. Comfort is the worst out of any headset I've ever had. They're just so wobbly on my (thin) head and after 4 months the headband has started cracking open ( daily 10+ hours on head for work + gaming). I have been considering getting the (expensive) g pro x wireless as I loved the previous one but now you've also put the A-spire on my radar. Though decision to be made.
I have been using Superlux 668B for the last 4 years with a Modmic and have been very happy but it's been time to upgrade, After scanning for a set of professional cans I came across the AKG K245 which are 32 Ohms with 50mm transducers, Foldable with a mini XLR connector on the right can, I lucked in as I managed to pick up a pair from Amazon Warehouse for only £33 when they arrived they were brand new but missing the earfoams lol not a big issue as I always upgrade them to gel foam pads, 24 hrs later all sorted so I manged to get a new set complete for £50 Total and could not be happier, The best part though is a mobile phone is able to drive them so no Dac or amp required 👍
I used to buy only HyperX headsets I can say with confidence that any cheap iem will give you more precision with footsteps The HyperX will give you a broad direction The iem will give precise directions and good 50 bucks iem will give precision direction, depth and height
I bought a $30 set of Binnune off Amazon years ago. I “upgrade” to the Pulse Elite last week. Sent the Elites back and kept the Binnunes. Sound wise, the only complaint I have from Binnune is the volume is a bit too low. Otherwise, in every other way they kick the crap out of the Pulse Elite. Fit/finish, build quality, and the ability to use them comfortably with the PSVR2. It’s all there. A little bulky when using with the PSVR2 which why I’ve decided to go with the Truthear Crin Red IEM’s. But these cheap headsets are where it’s at. That Pulse Elite was my first experience with any “premium” headset. And if that’s the way they are? Save your money.
audiophile headphones are the best gaming headphone, recently switched from meze 109 pro to meze empyrean2, that's the most beautiful sound i've heard when playing games, better audio for fps and much more immersive single player game experience, originally i want to use my gold cable ier z1r, but that is not a pair of iem i can wear for hours😂
Here would be a good test. Using the same EQ for footsteps. Use different headphones and different DAC's. My personal test would be the Astro A40's with the Astro DAC vs Schit Hel Plus. What is your best headset and mic with DAC combo? No one seems to reciew some type of measurements on gaming DAC's or improvement metrics from the previous Schit Hel DAC's. Lastly What is the best cable for headphone/mic cable and splitter cable for headphone to mic. Thanks in advance 👍🏻
It’s important to mention..I have the VZR’s and they are fantastic. I have the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro’s and they are great. I have a couple of high end Beyerdynamic’s including 1990 Pro. And truly for me to hear on COD MW 3 footsteps… It’s with the EQ Joe used awhile back comparing Nova Pro’s, Turtle Beach, and…Maxwells. The Maxwells especially with Joe’s EQ on them is hands down for me….the GOAT. And trust me the others are sweet. But the maxwells are my main for COD Console Series X. Anything wired I use Astro DAC for this game. Then an adapter for Headphones and microphone if I’m using my Beyer’s or Senns. Maxwells are hands down for the money the best “Gaming” Headset out there. Don’t F it up Sony 🤙
A video on positional surround sound earphones would be amazing! Like the LG TONE Free UT90Q with Dolby Atmos headtracking, to get a fully context-driven idea of which direction and elevation footsteps are coming from.
Great detailed video. I'd just like to know your input, for specifically fps games where sound quality, detail and headphone quality is my most important feature, what do you think is the best headset option for under 100
I'm extremely picky about my audio, and I bought the TB Stealth Pro, Nova Pro Wireless, and Audeze Maxwell and put them through their paces on both PC and my Xbox Series X. Surprisingly, the TB Stealth Pro has been my mainstay for FPS (MW3, Warzone) - the audio imaging is top notch and the sound is very rich (even when listening to music). I've never heard a headset with better audio location of sounds (footsteps, gunshots, etc). The Audeze Maxwell is just an exceptional wireless headset, probably the best all around that I've ever used, and I kept that as my primary daily driver for all around media as well as expansive/MMO/story games like Assassins Creed, Witcher 3, and Destiny. I returned the Nova Pro Wireless. That's my 2 cents.
What is the best headset you’ve ever used specifically for Halo? Am curious because Halo is more bass heavy than other fps games, so what may be the best FPS headset may not actually be for Halo xD.
Harmonicdyne Zeus Elites? They are rated better than all of these for positional audio and hi res clarity (outside the Aryas by Hifiman). Actually there's many missing here. DT900 ProX, Ananda, Sundara, H6Pro, Truthear zeros, Vulcans, there's many more
Gotta say, it’s seems as if yoh “like” them all and they offer “great value” and every headset is a “great pick” honestly you used the “the best” or “my absolute favorite” that I honestly don’t know what headset is worth my money. All over the place with everything being the best.
I’ve had the Mid-to-High Tier Wireless 100 and up headsets I still choose the KSC75s over all them for great imaging, soundstage, comfort, their very detailed and their tuned specifically for competitive FPS games like Call of Duty and they only cost $20 incredible value!! Awesome video Tech thanks for reviewing all these amazing headphones in detail you never disappoint keep it up man.
KSC75s are what I use as well. Amazing set of headphones for the price. I would absolutely love to see them make a true wireless version with a dedicated 2.4Ghz connection, I'd be a day 1 buyer.
If you've got the budget, what really does the trick is one of Schiit's multibit DACs. Their in-house clock and digital filter is maybe the best I've ever heard when it comes to localization (save for maybe Rockna, but $$$), likely due to great time domain coherency, not to mention their excellent resolution (particularly their ability to handle bass). Probably because they're inherently "bit perfect" DA conversion, as opposed to most DACs, which use approximations to _maybe_ achieve half of their advertised bit depth. Even a 2-channel speaker system is able to project a spacious 3D sonic image with one of those DACs, like the audio cues are materializing out of thin air rather than coming from the speakers. The effect isn't so pronounced with headphones, but it's still noticeable, and better by far than DACs in any other device you're likely to use. Unfortunately I don't think the lower-end Modi Multibit uses the the same filter, but the newer iterations might, I'm not sure. I know both Bifrost and Yggdrasil do.
Love the content man...still using your Equalizer APO/Peace EQ settings for footsteps on Warzone! Sooooo good! Hopefully get an updated EQ video on MW3/WZ3!
My EM6L left IEM died, sent back for repair. Before that, best gaming IEM without mucking around with EQ. I have the Kinera Gramr mic cable but I just don't like the fit - the mic is connected over the ear, the Antlion one may be better with the mic under the ear.
Great video man. I have VZR model 1 and audeze maxwell. The VZR outperforms the maxwell in fps games on PS5. I only play on PS5. Would the Schitt hell plus improve the audio on the VZR on the PS5?
I’ve got the Stealth Pro and SS Nova pro wireless and still go back to my old Astro A50, though, my A50’s are getting more audio drops I still find them more comfortable the sound stage through Atmos is perfect.
Yeah the A50s are great when they work, plus they're so, so comfortable. I have purchased 3 now and they keep breaking on me. The firmware has been rubbish, and I just couldn't recommend them to today's market considering the lack of support from Logi and Astro now.
@@GadgetryTech firmware is farcical, fingers crossed Logitech can do something about that in the future. Anything you’d recommend that has the same sound/comfort as the A50’s Joe ?. I’m tempted by the RIG 900HX
Looking at your Warzone target looks like the acezone a spire is dead on. Originally got the stealth and like it, but going to try acezone as I only play Warzone and don’t want to mess with EQ
For me the razer blackshark v2 blew my steel series out of the water. I could hear so well that my friends would ask how I knew an enemy was near by. I'm disappointed that not one razer headset was in your review. Great video otherwise.
@GadgetryTech Comparatively would this ranking be accurate for competitive gaming? Hifiman XS>VZR One>Stealth Pro>Nova Wireless/7X>Maxwell>RIG 900/800 Also it's been 2 years why isn't the VZR One available in Canada yet? Can you contact VZR to find out as I've had no luck.
The battery on my Steelseries Arctis 9 from 2020 is slowly dying and the charging port with Micro USB also doesn't work properly anymore, so I started looking for a new one. Thanks to your videos I just bought the Nova 7 Wireless (which is basically the old Arctis 9 😅)
How is Logitech there but razer black v2 pro 2023 isn't? Logitech's new headset costs 350cad and I keep seeing the v2 pro 2023 edition for 200cad and the razer headset is better.
Ohhh don't do me like that! haha. Maxwell is just too good for everything else. It's the best sounding headset I've used for music, movies, and gaming. Purely for FPS and long term comfort, I like others a little more. I'd probably go with Maxwell plus an open back like the H6PRO or Drop PC38x just for comfort. The Model One is the best for footsteps though.
i use Meze 99 classics with a creative labs sound blaster G6, tuned to the golden ear profile through EQ and use dolby audio as well vs the G6's built in 7.1 virtual. so happy with the sound i get.
Love the Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max! Haven’t tried all options but some high end including the Stealth Pro and Nova 7s. I stuck with the Gen 2 Max, in my opinion they are better. I would like to try the Hyperx Clouds someday tho.
Great review and lots to cover but still don’t have a feel on what you think is the cream of the crop for Xbone. Like if you want to hear what the other guy had for breakfast..what does your full setup look like? (headset, dac? modmic/boom or desk mic? etc.) All sweat setup, no special features, no budget. For instance the Xbox chat adapter degraded sound on my headsets so I stopped using it despite the usefulness.
Sneaky, I can see the WC on the Stealth pro 😏😏 Great Video Joe, you covered everything as usual!! I'm quiet happy with my stealth pro, and if it lasts, it will be my go to for years and years to come =)

Sennheiser HD 800 S this should be nr 1 hands down it blows everything out the water, best feeling and best sound. And nr 2 imo is beyerdynamic TYGR 300 R it cost less but is insanely good.
Insane list thank you, Which ps5 fps headset would you recommend between the steelseries nova pro, the turtlebeach stealth pro, the vzr model one, the g pro x 2 lightspeed and the beyerdynamic mmx 200 wireless ?
Joe, ive seen a lot of your reviews. Im considering the ziigaat arete's or the playstation elite headset with the planar drivers. With your expertise, which would see being the better fit playing primarily call of duty and elden ring. Soon to be black ops 6 zombies. (Notes: the truthear zero do not fit my ears well. Causes redness and pain on the concha) I understand youre inundated with heaps of comments and questions.
Awesome review, thank you. I'm back in market for a good budget set of headphones. I have the HyperX Stinger 2's. The problem is they are to bulky to use with a VR headset. I really need the flip mute and improved ability to hear footsteps. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again
Great headset with good mic and very comfortable. Purely for FPS gaming, these (again just for me), do a slightly better job. The Blacksharks have a little too much bass that can make it difficult to pinpoint footsteps in complex scenes.
Hey buddy. I'm looking for a second headset specifically for FPS. I have the Audeze maxwell and they are the best headphones I've ever heard. I just got the nova pro's for x box, and they're great for positioning but i can't get over the no sonar, and the weird boxy sound. I can't EQ Z it out. I'm trying to spend around $250-$300. Thinking about the blackshark v2 pro or the beyerdynamic 330 pro. Any advice?
Thank you for collating your perspectives into this comprehensive review. This list is very extensive with your experience to backup your choices and it makes initial choices within many price ranges much more discerning. Your time and efforts to build this list are greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work. Just one question; any opinion on the Audeze LCD-GX? At $900 would you chose the Acezone A-Rise over the Audeze?
I missed your question earlier, sorry. I haven’t used the GX for gaming believe it or not. I’m sure sure when I would get to test it out to be sure! If you want an open back planar for gaming, the MM-100 w V-MODA mic or the Hifiman Edition XS are both good options too.
@@GadgetryTech No worries, Sir. Thank you for making the effort to reply. I am seriously considering the MM-100 when they are back in stock, as a dual purpose headset, gaming/music. Take care, Sir.
@@GadgetryTech As a GX owner, they are a blast to use for gaming. I don't play competitively, but for immersion they are fantastic. I use mine paired to a Burson Playmate 2 and they slam pretty good and sound fantastic. I'd recommend trying one out sometime.
I need headphones for CS2. It doesn’t matter whether they are wired or wireless. The main positioning and sound of steps, weapon reloading, etc. Budget up to $350 You can use wired ones and buy an additional DAC. I'm torn and don't know what to buy. The presence of a microphone is not important. The MOST IMPORTANT thing is that the back is closed. The choice was between Audeze Maxwell and Mx300. What I don't like about Turtle Beach is the operating time and the lack of wires. So they disappear (My usage scenario is 80% Games, 10% Music 10% Movies
Great content again! I was thinking instead of categories, wouldn't it make sense to purely on budget? So e.g. How does a decent dac/amp with a h6pro compare to an audeze maxwell (or something like that)? Would be amazing to see.
Great content for what must be every consumer... I have the Steelseries Arctis 9X which I'm looking to upgrade I was hoping to pick up a second hand, Audeze Penrose X (they were selling for £120/£150) but can't get them now for love nor money looking to go for the Steelseries Stealth Pro or maybe the Steelseries Nova Pro Wireless as I don't wanna spend £349 on a headset... Unless your future videos convince me different... Keep up the great work...
i have used the cloud flights for YEARS.i have bought them twice.they are THE BEST sound i've ever had (i've used at least 2 headsets from each big name brand)recently the flights have started to become uncomfortable do to the wear from using them so much. i don't know which headset to replace it with.i just got the lg pro x 2 lightspeed and while they were very comfortable the sound was awful.foot steps were wedged between excessive bass and watery treble, plus the fact that logitech can't seem to figure out how to fix their app so you are stuck with 5 eq bars to play with.what headset would you say has the comfort of the pro 2 lightspeed and the audio of the cloud flights.i was thinking of giving the hyperx cloud mix a try
Thank you for this video, I'm sure this will help a lot of people choose what kind of headphones they what, luckily I watched one of your videos before buying and I am happy with the headphones I bought. Wow that's an amazing price! Between that and the 560S, you have some of the best options for FPS. The Model One will just be icing on the cake haha
@@GadgetryTech yeah I got extremely lucky on ebay! For the price I think it's the best headset for the money
Wait, theres a black Friday deal with the VZR model one?
@@DyzzBro Yeah, it's mentioned in the video. $250 for open box VZR Model One's for black friday. Deal is not live yet so just look out for it
what do you think about them? ive had the A-spire for about 1 week, and im def returning them.
Thank you! I bought the model one because of your reviews.
Awesome! You must love it!
is it worth it? I should say, that i’m playing fps shooter … i‘m using a nova wireless pro but with 3,5mm connected to a topping dx3 pro plus… but i‘m not happy in the momennt. I also tried my Beyer DT880 pro (250ohm) and my Sennheiser HD600 but i‘m still not satisfied :(
I also tried the truthear hola and they are maybe better for positioning as all these other very expensive headphones
Brother saved me all the time I needed on researching audio lmao, subbed bro ty
Hello!
what is the best headset to hear footsteps on ps5?
Got the nova 7, and i love them! Very customizable and comfy.
I used to buy only HyperX headsets
I can say with confidence that any cheap iem will give you more precision with footsteps
The HyperX will give you a broad direction
The iem will give precise directions and good 50 bucks iem will give precision direction, depth and height
Save your money.
audiophile headphones are the best gaming headphone, recently switched from meze 109 pro to meze empyrean2, that's the most beautiful sound i've heard when playing games, better audio for fps and much more immersive single player game experience, originally i want to use my gold cable ier z1r, but that is not a pair of iem i can wear for hours😂
been looking for a video exactly like this and you just made it, TYYY GOAT
Really been enjoying your content pal, keep up the good work.
Thanks!
Thank you i just got my SIMGOT EM6L!!
Thank you for the clear and concise review
It’s important to mention..I have the VZR’s and they are fantastic.
I have the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro’s and they are great.
I have a couple of high end Beyerdynamic’s including 1990 Pro.
And truly for me to hear on COD MW 3 footsteps…
It’s with the EQ Joe used awhile back comparing Nova Pro’s, Turtle Beach, and…Maxwells.
Which video was this man?
Hi! The Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 Edition didn't make it here? May I ask, why?
Am curious because Halo is more bass heavy than other fps games, so what may be the best FPS headset may not actually be for Halo xD.
why razer blackshark v2 pro 2023 aint in the list?
Harmonicdyne Zeus Elites? They are rated better than all of these for positional audio and hi res clarity (outside the Aryas by Hifiman).
Actually there's many missing here. DT900 ProX, Ananda, Sundara, H6Pro, Truthear zeros, Vulcans, there's many more
thank you for your service!!!
Gotta say, it’s seems as if yoh “like” them all and they offer “great value” and every headset is a “great pick” honestly you used the “the best” or “my absolute favorite” that I honestly don’t know what headset is worth my money. All over the place with everything being the best.
Hearing 'the best' a lot in a video that concerns itself with - wait for it - THE BEST, in multiple categories to boot? _Outrageous!_
KSC75s never get put away for me. Always a quick, comfy grab.
KSC75s are what I use as well. Amazing set of headphones for the price. I would absolutely love to see them make a true wireless version with a dedicated 2.4Ghz connection, I'd be a day 1 buyer.
it hurts my ears a lot i have glasses cant wear them after 1 hour
I like the varitey of pricing. Good vid, subbed.
Thank for the recommendations, very helpful video!
Perfectttt video, i cant thank you enough!!!
Love the content man...still using your Equalizer APO/Peace EQ settings for footsteps on Warzone! Sooooo good! Hopefully get an updated EQ video on MW3/WZ3!
I got you!
Which headset you use?
@@StrangeDoctor_ I’m back and forth from Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X and Kiwi Ears Orchestra Lite IEMs. I’ve been running the IEMs lately.
My EM6L left IEM died, sent back for repair. Before that, best gaming IEM without mucking around with EQ. I have the Kinera Gramr mic cable but I just don't like the fit - the mic is connected over the ear, the Antlion one may be better with the mic under the ear.
This was a fantastic review of fps headphones but what’s your personal go to for fps gaming?
Great video man. I have VZR model 1 and audeze maxwell. The VZR outperforms the maxwell in fps games on PS5. I only play on PS5. Would the Schitt hell plus improve the audio on the VZR on the PS5?
Commenting because I'm curious of the answer.
How much superior is it in %?
Need an answer to this question! Lol
Depend do you use them in pc or consol ?
They better then the nova pros wireless ?
@GadgetryTech Comparatively would this ranking be accurate for competitive gaming?
Hifiman XS>VZR One>Stealth Pro>Nova Wireless/7X>Maxwell>RIG 900/800
Also it's been 2 years why isn't the VZR One available in Canada yet? Can you contact VZR to find out as I've had no luck.
The battery on my Steelseries Arctis 9 from 2020 is slowly dying and the charging port with Micro USB also doesn't work properly anymore, so I started looking for a new one. Thanks to your videos I just bought the Nova 7 Wireless (which is basically the old Arctis 9 😅)
A-spire vs stealth pro for mw3, what would you pick?
Can you do a video on the best gaming headsets for story driven games, where you want a bit more bass ? For pc / console
How is Logitech there but razer black v2 pro 2023 isn't? Logitech's new headset costs 350cad and I keep seeing the v2 pro 2023 edition for 200cad and the razer headset is better.
Which one do you prefer overall? Turtle Beach Stealth 700 gen 2 Max or SteelSeries Nova 7X?
If you had to pick two headsets out of these three, which ones would you get...VZR, TB Pro and maxwells.
Thank you for this guide. Which do you prefer, the PC38X or the Cloud III wireless?
i use Meze 99 classics with a creative labs sound blaster G6, tuned to the golden ear profile through EQ and use dolby audio as well vs the G6's built in 7.1 virtual. so happy with the sound i get.
Hi, whats the best headset for Dead By Daylight ? Mainly to hear moans of pain, healing and chest opening
I bought the Coud III to check it out (I use a boom mic and 660S). They are really good for the money and yes, very comfortable!
Sneaky, I can see the WC on the Stealth pro 😏😏
Great Video Joe, you covered everything as usual!! I'm quiet happy with my stealth pro, and if it lasts, it will be my go to for years and years to come =)
curious why open ear is better for hearing footsteps?
this was pretty useful thanks for the work
Purchased Acezone Aspire thru your Link! i want to try them anyways, bc they seem lightweight and small profile, like my A40's.
Very surprised and disappointed Maxwell didnt even make the list, are you saying the MM100 is better than maxwell or the same?. So you said Model One are the best at image-ing footsteps, period? and for wireless/digital would be Stealth pro or Nova Pro? where does that put Acezone? isnt their whole schtick that they are the best for imaging footsteps? are you saying or implying that the Stealth Pro and Nova Pro are BOTH better than Acezone at footsteps?
Sennheiser HD 800 S this should be nr 1 hands down it blows everything out the water, best feeling and best sound. And nr 2 imo is beyerdynamic TYGR 300 R it cost less but is insanely good.
Would you recommend the Hifiman Edition XS over the HD560s for gaming?
Insane list thank you, Which ps5 fps headset would you recommend between the steelseries nova pro, the turtlebeach stealth pro, the vzr model one, the g pro x 2 lightspeed and the beyerdynamic mmx 200 wireless ?
Could you possible do a video like this but to watching movies? Thx and have a new year's Eve everybody
I got the Koss, but they didn't work on my ears as well as I had hoped.
Thanks for the video. Simple question, LCD-GX or acetone A-Rise ?
Joe, ive seen a lot of your reviews. Im considering the ziigaat arete's or the playstation elite headset with the planar drivers. With your expertise, which would see being the better fit playing primarily call of duty and elden ring. Soon to be black ops 6 zombies. (Notes: the truthear zero do not fit my ears well. Causes redness and pain on the concha)
I understand youre inundated with heaps of comments and questions.
1st
Great vid as always 👌 boss man.
What about the Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X?
What mic are you using on this video ? Sounds really good !
Great video. Wish you would do one for microphones!
I love this channel
JBL 910 are not a good option?
Awesome review, thank you. I'm back in market for a good budget set of headphones. I have the HyperX Stinger 2's. The problem is they are to bulky to use with a VR headset. I really need the flip mute and improved ability to hear footsteps. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again
I'm looking to pick up the Sony inzone buds maybe around black Friday.
Razer BlackShark V2 Pro 2023 ?
Great headset with good mic and very comfortable. Purely for FPS gaming, these (again just for me), do a slightly better job. The Blacksharks have a little too much bass that can make it difficult to pinpoint footsteps in complex scenes.
What is your review of the beyerdynamic mmx300 gen 2? TKS!
Any advice?
Amazing video again
Thanks so much!
Are the TYGR 300R good for entertainment purpose aswell movies, music, podcasts?
Thank you for collating your perspectives into this comprehensive review. This list is very extensive with your experience to backup your choices and it makes initial choices within many price ranges much more discerning. Your time and efforts to build this list are greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work. Just one question; any opinion on the Audeze LCD-GX? At $900 would you chose the Acezone A-Rise over the Audeze?
Thanks as always for the support Simon!
AceZone A-Spire if you can get it. It's designed to excel in FPS, with a main focus on CS:GO and now CS2.
@@GadgetryTech What if I want wired?
Now, could you make a video of the headphones to avoid, obviously from known brands or popular on sites like Amazon, etc. You know, just a video idea. Keep up the good work!
damn after a long time thinking about it, I made the decision to go with the nova pro wireless, but now you talked about comfort and got me worried
Apparently the new version has a smaller bump and is more comfortable!!
