I've been asked about the custom pads on the Maxwell quite a bit! They are new pads from Wicked Cushions but are not available for at least another month. I am just doing long term testing for the owner to share my thoughts on comfort and sound quality. Once they are close to being available I'll make an announcement video and show the sound quality impact/comfort for the final revision. Thanks!
@Crynomical Yeah I just got the stealth pro and I'm returning it due to it being way quieter then my Maxwell's and surprisingly even less comfortable.
Do you have a similar video like this one but with wired headsets instead and maybe compared just how much "better" or similar/negligible they are with the wireless ones?
Dude let me just say…you are freaking next level when it comes to technical breakdowns. I’m an audio nut and the way you explain everything resonates and makes perfect sense. No one compares to how much detail you provide. Anyways thanks for this video and all your hard work to help us nerds spend our hard earned money. Massive props!
Got my stealth pro today and im loving it. I can hear footsteps from way further away than i thought they would offer, directional sound is pinpoint too. thanks for the vid.
Definitely didn't make the decision easier but you did answer the questions I had and brought clarity to the choice I'll have to make. Great video, thanks
That moment when Joe says the video could have easily gone for two hours, and you shed a tear because you know you would’ve watched every second of it, but fate had different plans. 😂😔 Great video, as always. Especially thankful for all of the equalizer settings you provided!
@@tucker2138 Do you play FPS? ->Stealth pros, youll make more use of the tech, and if you listen to music, just EQ it. It good enough for me. Music, but some video games once in a minute? Maxwells But yeah, I bough the Razer blackshark v2 pros after my Astro A50's batteries started getting slightly questionable, then I bough the Stealth Pros right after. Stealth Pros are literally Blackshark V2 Pros + The Astros in one headset, with a good overall balance. I use the buttons on the blacksharks a little more and find them more useful, but the Stealth Pros are good enough for me not to worry about it. I primarily like surround audio/spatial/directional audio for games and music is cool but I don't get too audiphilistic unless its Metal music, which something like the Blacksharks excel in with their Titanium drivers, but really the stealth pros have even smoother drivers that still hit the mids and the highs but not too too overpowered lows like the Astros. The astros are bass heavy and it washes the fuck out of the mids and the highs especially. I think the stealth pros for sure are a good actual clear balance of low, mid and high and nothing is too overpowered. The best balanced headset I have had yet. The leather is actually more comfortable than I would have ever imagined.
@@sasquatchcrewbro I play R6 and right now I have Steelseries arctis pro wireless headset but I want to buy new head and I’m confused which headsets in the market is the best one. Is stealth pro the best headset in the market for fps and competitive games? I mean if I buy it can I hear every little sounds in the game or not? Also, my Steelseries has a little bug and that’s when someone is coming from behind me it is like he is in front of me and I die. The other example is when I’m standing between first floor and second floor stairs and someone coming from first floor the sound is like the guy is coming from above😕. Is the stealth pro giving me exact footsteps sound of the enemies?
@@ghostamirrthere is no best everyone hears different no set of ears are the same some are better then others but there is no best one it all depends on what you prefer and what you use it for
Thank you for sharing your Maxwell EQ setting. Would love to see a Maxwell EQ vid with a bunch of different combinations including what you feel is the best over all EQ setting.
Two things I dislike about the Maxwell are lack of support for simultaneous Bluetooth/wireless dongle playback and weight distribution. I would love to have it mix the two with some custom configuration. I don't think the total weight of the headphones are so much of the problem as is how secure they are on my head. I have to constantly compensate for forward/backward motion as the Maxwell's tend to want to fly off. I can't just casually jump on a couch or lean back/forward without carefully doing so. I tend to reach up to hold them also. Love how Audeze is rocking the gaming headphone industry though.
I use my PC for everything. Gaming, movies, music. Your reviews and roundups are what convinced me to go with the Maxwells. I'll get them tomorrow with a set of WC Freeze pads and I'm sure I'll love them. I've kinda moved away from the hardcore FPS gaming and more towards more casual and laid back games like Age of Conan and Division 2(also a sucker for a good RPG). I still play CoD, but I don't really factor that into many decisions as much, anymore. Glad I found your channel as you made the choice a lot more clear for me. Thanks!
This was such an amazing vid! (All of yours are, though, actually.) Thank you for taking the time and care to compare and contrast these three. Your review of the Maxwell's made me so confident and happy with my pre-order. Love your channel!
Perfect comparison. I just want to help out PS5 players out there. The Nova Pro was pretty bad when enabling 3D Tempest as it made game audio sound like the poor spatial audio you get in phone speakers. I couldn't pinpoint any footsteps in Cod as they were coming from everywhere. The Turtle 700 Max was much better for this reason and I returned the Nova immediately. Also the Nova has shit mic. The 700 MAX Gen2 had connectivity issues sporadically at my environment and I had to return it when I saw the announcement of the Stealth Pro which is now on the way.
Bro fr, I had the ARTICS 9 and it sounds just ok, like as if I could get that quality of audio out of a very cheap headset + mine didn’t last 3 years so now I’m facing a software issue that makes my ARTICS 9 useless! Now I’m planning on going with the TB pro
I don’t play FPS games. I don’t play any competitive online games at all. What I’m looking for is the most crystal clear, most enjoyable single player gaming experience I can get so I just ordered the Maxwells yesterday and can’t wait for them to arrive. I’ve been using my Blackshark V2 Pro’s for a few years now and figured it was time for an upgrade. I was looking for something that would be a big step up for gaming at home and would also be great for listening to music, whether I’m just hanging at home or traveling. Sound quality, connectivity, build quality and battery life are all very important for my specific use case and I think the Maxwells will be a perfect fit. Now all I need to do is find a decent travel case and I should be all set. Thanks for all of the work you put into these reviews. They were instrumental in my decision making process.
@@kylestewart4444 I have them on order, but I got the other 2 in the meantime and i really like the stealth pros. Hopefully the maxwells are better. I'm glad you like yours.
Just wanted to give some positive feedback. Based on this video and a few others you have in the library, I first was able to purchase a Nova 7 wireless headset through my Employee Rewards points I had saved over the last couple years and only ended up paying an extra $20 for them. I would say I enjoyed the sound quite a bit as far as gaming but only mediocre when it came to music. I absolutely hated the way they fit my slightly larger than average head. When I leaned forward, they would try to slide off. So I ended up giving those to my son. I then immediately jumped in my car and drove to Best Buy and purchased the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro. Funny story, the store rep actually tried to talk me into the A50's and I just laughed and said no thank you. Got the Stealth Pro headset home and have been enjoying them ever since. I put the EQ tune you have in a couple of your videos for the CoD footsteps and also the other one I assume is for music. Then I just raise the bass boost 4 notches and I am more than happy with the sound. I was surprised at the vocal clarity these produce. I thought I would hate the battery life but I switch out the battery before I go to bed and the fresh battery lasts me whole next day and switch again. And the sound I get inside CoD without using Dolby Atmos, just the EQ, is crazy good. Thanks for your detailed reviews and deep dives. Otherwise I would have never shelled out $329.00 for the Stealth Pro's and would have missed all this great audio.
Glad I checked this video out. Been rocking my A50's for a couple years now and always thought they were one of the nicer headsets but definitely think I'm gonna look to upgrade to the stealth pros now. Glad to know it wasn't just me with the quality control on A50's too, it always pops out for me too.
Astro build quality in general is subpar, I have old A40 that its headband broke, and A50 which is fine but I can feel the not so great build quality. For the PS5 I went with the maxwell and I was impressed with it and the quality, I'm coming from more "hifi" setup in my PC with HIFIMAN edition Xs and schiit bifrost+jotunheim for DAC+AMP. And you get really good sound from the Maxwell for what it is (wireless gaming headset). It's bit heavy, but since it's comfortable it is not that of a problem.
I just bought the Nova Pro today based off your review video. Probably the only three reasons why I chose NOT to get the Maxwell is because there is no EQ, there is no availability of swapping batteries and Micro Center is discontinuing the sale of the Maxwell. I even contacted Audeze by email and asked if there were any problems with the headset but non were addressed in the response. Thank you very much for making this review video.
Hey I've notice a lot of bad reviews on the Maxwells as well. I am considering them but Im worried about longevity with them. So Im considering the Steath Pros more now.
Absolutely the best headset comparison video on TH-cam to date. The level of detail you went into and all the tests you did for sound and mic quality along with actually letting us hear them. Just awesome man, you helped me pick my new headset and I'm gonna sub just for that. Keep doing what you're doing brother, and anyone giving you grief about video length can go pound sand.
13:25 I believe the volume wheels can also be pressed and used to skip songs and change the EQ (the latter meaning you don't have to go into the app). My Maxwells are on their way.. delivery date went from 28th of May to 1st of May. Nice to see you have the wicked cushions already. I hope they're available in the EU soon.
Did your maxwell come in? How are they? I'm on the fence to get them for fps. I just saw a reddit must someone is selling theirs because it didn't fit he's needs for fps
@@raylopez1583 No it didn't unfortunately. Every day that passed, the delivery date would also shift 1 day. I called them and they confirmed that the shipment isn't coming in until May 28th. That corresponds with the reddit post from Audeze stating that all early April orders will be fulfilled by the end of May. I don't play competitive fps right now, so I probably couldn't answer your question from that point of view. Currently using Astro A50 gen3 and their performance is pretty bad in terms of audio. The Maxwell will fit my needs because I prefer audio quality over footsteps and stuff. I'm only worried about the fit, since I don't have a big head and the adjustability of the head strap is very minimal.
Glad you made this , I was looking at maxwell's purely for footsteps in PC - MW2/WZ2 couldn't find a straight answer , been debating between the nova pros and maxwells for a while. For music I have HD650's on a Xonar Essence STX soundcard so I'm purely looking at something for better FPS positioning. Don't own any consoles , purely 100% PC gaming so I guess Nova Pro's are the ticket here.
thank you for taking the time to put together such a great detail video. i currently have the Penrose and was looking for something different. I just ordered the Stealth Pro
In my opinion/observation of the video - Microphone Quality Nova Pro (I own) is focused and sounds a bit "pilot audio" like, as in you can tell that it's coming from a sound-deadening device mic. The TB-Stealth Pro (sounded the most natural) blocked everything out equally IMHO (looking to buy this one possibly instead of another Nova-Pro), and the Maxwell has this "buzzy mid-tone" to your voice the others don't have. When you talk almost like you can tell something digital is filtering out some part of your voice along with the noise. Personal note on your review on the ANC to pair with what I observed hearing (on a Nova Pro turned way up on a fresh battery) I felt like the noise-cancelling was INSANE on the maxwell, I felt like the Turtle Beach and the Nova Pro were very similar, but a note from someone who regularly puts in 12 hours days on his headsets the Nova-Pro ANC dies off at some point as the battery percent gets lower. (You don't notice it until you put a fresh battery in, and realize how much more the dampening is when the fresh battery is loaded in) Final note - I don't "customize" and "fully leverage" my headsets. I stick to a vanilla setup, I don't read the user-manual, I don't tweak the gaming software, and I don't do more than the 1-button press or long-button press options on any headset. My experience is mine alone YMMV depending on how much of the "learning and setup" you dive into... I just don't, anymore. I'm still impressed with you wearing any headphone down to the point the anc-bump is bothering your ear! I haven't managed to do that in ~2 yrs. on the base leatherette pads so IDK man... holy crap that's insane usage! Also, great video... your review and using the mics definitely lead me to believing it's a valid choice/option to give the TB's a go! Much appreciated!
I tried them and was fantastic sounding, however for most games I was cranking them upto max volume on ps5, except cod, weirdly that game was overall louder and had to turn them down. I am going to try the Maxwell and then decide to together keep them or re-order the stealths and put up with the volume limit. At the moment I am back to the novas, which are awesome for FPS games, just boring as hell for any story based games where you want a fun sound! the stealth was fun, just limited volume as I have always found with Turtlebeach, not sure why.
Just ordered the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro! Excited to try it out. Left Turtle Beach a few years ago for Steel Series and have missed a lot of the Turtle Beach features since. Excited to be back with the Turtle! 🐢🐢🐢
@@ghostamirr I really like it. It's heavier and not quite as comfortable as my old Arctis 9X, but sound quality is great, and I really like the rechargeable battery.
@@pubertco what about sounds? I mean when an explosion happens in the game you can’t hear footsteps anymore but after 2 or 3 seconds you can. Is this headset is like that I said or not? I mean when multiple sounds happen in a time can you hear footsteps clearly?
Awesome review as always! I love my Audeze Maxwell and have been using it everyday for 3 days so far it has surpassed my audio needs. I am not really a competitive gamer although I do mostly play FPS, third person-shooter, and story-oriented games. Music and movie consumption was near the top of my list so by choosing the Audeze Maxwell headset I made the right decision for me at least.
@@jasonbainbridge6196 I’m pretty sure it’ll be night and day difference with them HyperXs. I played with them minutes ago in Overwatch and they are good. Though I had to use the ingame Atmos instead of setting up Dolby Atmos in the system settings. For some reason the system setting-Atmos sounds worst, like audio cues are diminished.
Not a lot of stealth pro comments on here. I think the volume wheel is pretty bad, and the buttons are very hard to find with your fingers alone. But, a very big but: the Bluetooth connection is solid to the phone, and the phone app you can leave open while you're gaming to access all the controls even more easily. without that app, I don't think I could keep them. But I also can't choose a headset without an app now that I have one. It's absolutely essential. I also like that the base station doubles for the mute status of the headset, which can be optional, if you want to hide it in a cabinet. Clamping force is also a bit much, but maybe that'll break in a little.
Once again you hit the nail on the head with the descriptions on all of these headphones.... how you explain this on this video people are for sure going to have a definite pick out of these three for their own listening experience.... your explanations on these headphones are on point
You said the Stealth Pro's are the better one for FPS games, and the Maxwells not so good, but better with the EQ settings now how far behind the Stealth Pros are they really? I play all type of games including FPS games like CSGO and was wondering if I'm going to be upset if I get the Maxwells or pondering if I should of got the Stealth Pros.
i have a pc and currently own nova pro's. i have 0 complaints about them when it comes to fps games. whether above or below or all around its easy to locate and determine distance from targets. i do believe they are better in this regard than last gen arctis pro wireless in this regard. i still have my arctis wireless pro's and they still work perfect after 5 yrs i believe. bought them when they came out. i just ordered a set of sennheiser 560s to test out to see if they are better or worse for imaging. if theres something better i want it. knowing where someone is gives you the advantage. if they are worse then ill return them np. i will still be keeping my nova pro's though for sure. on another note the newer astros are absolute garbage compared to older gens. me and my friend bought them and immediately returned them they are so bad. thats the time we bought the og arctis wireless pro's. the older gens are far superior there is no question. the last good ones were the ones w the blue aluminum arms i do believe. its been a while so i cant really remember.
Good review, I'm sure you and I could have some conversations about the lack of good music using real instruments nowadays. I ordered the Turtle Beach Stealth PRO and very happy with them, mainly due to the app and control. I also ordered an extra base direct from Turtle and dropped your name as to how I found them. I got the extra base because I don't want to be hauling too much around from PC room to game room and whatever. XBOX user, I felt your review helped me make the right decision and I am happy with the headset I chose. Thanks!!
Based on your reviews I'm selling my Arctis Nova Pro Wireless and buying a Stealth Pro. I really hate the SONAR app and I think the TB app looks way easier to use. Also, I use the headset mostly for FPS games, so I think the TB is the best choice! Tks a lot for the amazing videos!
i know I'm so late to the party but this video was relevant for me today. what was said about the A50s changing is spot on. the new ones sound so different and feel cheap which is what started my youtube binge that led me here. Love the depth of these videos and all of your input. Made my decision that much easier. Definitely will be watching all your videos from now on 👍
Great video as always! Absolutely love the way you approach the review process mixing data with opinion and thoughts! One thing I was missing is the mic comparison with the built-in mics of the maxwells and the stealth pros. Would have been interesting to hear them side by side
Good call. I trimmed a bit too much content to not make the video too long but probably should have kept that pair. I'll try to do a separate video soon dedicated to mics.
@@hitman.123 No I went with the Maxwell and absultely love it. This is one seriously powerful headset going crazy after some EQing for my bass head liking.
@@patzl thank you for the fast respond, so do you play rainbow six siege that’s the only game I’ll be playing on the PS five I would love to purchase these headsets again. The one thing I don’t like about them is you’re not able to lower your teammate voice down when the yelling witted box at all, you only could do it with the sono app
Excellent video! Best reviewer by a long shot! Just wanted to ask a question, maybe someone in the chat could also help. Next month I’ll be in the US for a few weeks, and I really wanted the Maxwells, but I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to find them at a Best Buy, unlike the ANPW and the TB (this high end headsets are almost impossible to buy here in Brazil). I’ve been using the arctis pro+gamedac for 6 years now, and they have served me very well, but I want to make the jump to wireless. My main concern here is durability, I just can’t have the headset break or its battery die very fast, because I won’t have the luxury to buy new headphones in my country. Which pair of headsets do you think would last more?
Have the Maxwell and nova pro wireless....Maxwell is number one for me except for FPS. Nova pro wins FPS for me but it's the Maxwell for everything else. Have the stealth pros on order, can't wait to give them a go.
Let us know how they stacked up! I’m looking to purchase one of these soon. Mostly play single player games but I do play the ocasional call of duty match.
I canceled my maxwell order that they had me on hold because they were out of stock. Now I'm going to order the Turttlebeach pro - i only play warzone 2.0
I bought the Maxwells as my first high end headphones, thanks to your review and comparison. I love them. They are very comfortable on my noggin, especially since I wear them all day. I use them both on the PS5 and PC, the latter via BT dongle. The build quality is amazing, no creaks or snapping sounds I had with previous headphones, including Sony WH models. The passive noise cancelling is enough for me to not be bothered by my partner's TV watching, but I can still hear when she wants to talk to me. I use the immersive preset for open world games, such as Horizon Forbidden West, and I love the sound. I can almost hear the dust blowing across the landscape haha. I don't play FPS so don't care about footsteps.
For pc gaming the Sonar EQ software is amazing for the Nova Pro. I use the preset warzone 2 EQ settings with immersion settings on max performance and foot steps have never been so easy to pin point
For anyone worried or on the fence about the maxwell and it’s size. I have a fairly tall and big head, 7 3/4 hat. They fit me perfect on the middle setting of the strap. I was worried it might be to heavy, I don’t find it any heavier than any other high quality headset. I use WC freeze pads and the headset is insanely comfortable. It doesn’t feel heavy at all when holding it, just well built. I do have a pretty strong linebacker type neck but I can’t imagine it being too much for someone smaller. It honestly doesn’t feel “heavy” to me at all. Remember these weights are in grams so even a bigger number still isn’t heavy. It will feel heavier if you’re used to all plastic headsets but to me it just feels solid and well built. Should fit any head very comfortably and I played for 7 hours straight with no weight or neck issues. Hope this helps
I think it's super interesting, the only headsets i ever used and owned are Lucid Sound LS35, really love them for my use, console gaming only, but they been falling apart for over a year, headband is torn at the seam, both earpads torn an pealing fabric from the seam, being held by packaging tape, really thought about replacement pads, i also love the fact that they come stock with the cooling gel pads in the first pace, but i also want to venture out and explore new headsets, i had Lucid Sound since the LS35's came out, i thought about the LS50's. I researched a TON of brands to mostly rule them out for want i don't want and what i do want and also design flaws and common problems people have with all these headsets, the super interesting thing is that at the end of all the research is that my decision came down to the Audeze Maxwells and Turtle Beach Stealth Pro, even though it doesn't have voice/chat mixers, very disappointing, i'm still leaning towards those, because i like everything else about them, mostly because the headset itself doesn't get charged, only the battery, very strange winning facture, i know, but it's very convenient
I have the Nova pros, Penrose x, just ordered the Maxwells, Astro A40s ( most comfortable gaming headphones I own), LS50x, the arctis 9x, and Astro A30’s. The Novas & LS50x have the best functionality for wireless in my experience, but the A30’s aren’t bad either in this regard. For music surprisingly The A30’s are really good at least for me because I like a lot of bass but not muddy, the novas are okay I don’t turn them all the way up as it starts to get distorted at high volumes it seems; same goes for the LS50’s, And my Penrose sound pretty good but nothing too crazy. Gaming wise tho, my Penrose really sound amazing this is with me leaving the base flat and just adjusting it through Dolby atmos. The Nova pro is great, but it can’t handle complex situations as well as my Penrose but this varies from game to game, my A30s sound amazing on my PS5, but the 5 band EQ on the app keeps me from dialing it in further they also sound pretty ass with Sonys 3D audio no matter how you tune the EQ. My A40s sound pretty good, while they don’t keep up with my Penrose they still sound great to my ears an EQ tuning. The LS50’s just….don’t sound that great I’ve tried every tune imaginable to get them to sound how i’d like but I just can’t seem to get them there, but like I said, I love the functionality of them. 9x still sound decent but they’re old af and they sound no where near as good as the novas.
That's quite the collection haha. I think if you get a new one, seriously try the Stealth Pro. It handles complex audio scenes really well, and still has great imaging for competitive and FPS stuff
Damn I'm still not sure which one is the better pick… I’m stuck between the Maxwell and the Stealth Pro, playing FPS, being on Discord, sometimes watching videos and hearing music on pc (but not very often) and I only want to use it for PC 🤔
This is the best review on these headsets I've seen if for no other reason then that you actually mentioned, and factored in the additional cost of the mandatory ear muff replacement on steel series. Actually after finishing the video i can say this is the best review of these headsets out here, and it helped me finally decide on which one i want, so thanks.
I have the Penrose for about 1,5 years and i bought the stealth pro for alongside the Penrose. I use the Penrose for singleplayergames and the stealth pro for fps. I was considering the maxwell because i already have the Penrose i took the gamble to try out the stealth pro . And im sold . This video persuade me to go for the stealth pro . Thanks Joe
Thank you so much for this video. I just watched this as I was dissatisfied with the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless I just bought a couple days ago and decided to order the Maxwell headset yesterday. As I am wearing the Nova Pros right now, I can feel the discomfort of the stock ear pads and the lack of bass and clarity in the mids even after EQ adjustment. This just further confirms I made the right decision based on the use cases you provided. Thanks for such a detailed technical analysis as it came at the right time. Love it and Subscribed! Finally, I sincerely hope that the person who gets the Nova Pro Wireless I am returning loves it for their competitive FPS gaming.
@@fernoflakeI am working on a video review (a lot less quality than this one here) but I am SUPER happy with them. Bass performance is amazing compared to the Nova Pros and I feel like the spatial audio is 99% as good as the Nova Pros. Very happy with them. They truly are the gold standard in my opinion. Battery life has been almost 80 hours. The female voice that announces functions is super soothing as well.
Exactly what I've done, I just cannot find an eq or sonar setting with the Novas that im happy with, it's like they are just not quite right. Maxwell's on the way.
One thing the nova pro seems to do better then other headsets with simultaneous bluetooth, is you can adjust the bluetooth volume independently solely via your phone. If you lower or raise the headset volume it will not effect the Bluetooth volume.
Flippin A! Best review of these headsets, and you definitely helped me out making up my mind. Thank you so much for all the time you put into this video!
Between the Maxwell and TB what do y'all recommend for Gaming (PC) and Work From Home for Meetings/calls. Would like to buy 1 headset for all, leaning towards Maxwell.
My Maxwells are my current jam. I just can't get over how pure they sound and I honestly don't think some headsets can offer enough bells and whistles to beat what the Maxwell can do, in just sound. I feel that's my wireless endgame. At some point I'll reach my wired endgame and snag the HD800s but will need to consider a better amp for my PS5 if my Hel2 isn't up to snuff. For now, the VZR is till my wired main. Oh, and rocking some Wicked Cushions on the Maxwell, I see!! How are they??
I want the Maxwells for their sound quality really badly, but think I'm gonna go with the TB Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max or the TB Stealth Pro. The dealbreaker for the Maxwells is the lack of simultaneous BT and 2.4GHz wireless. I don't really plan on using my headset exclusively for my phone or another device, the benefit would really be being able to take a call from my girl since we are long distance while I'm on my computer, so I don't have to put in AirPods under my headphones or take out an ear from my headset to listen to her on the phone, or just flat out get off of my computer. It would be super convenient to have that all in one headset and that's really what I am looking for as my #1 thing in my next headset. But I'm jealous of you lmao.
@@TheHardWay71 I do like having options and every since Discord came to PS5, it's opened my world up a bit on headsets/headphones for gaming and music. Still loving my Maxwell, and I can always steam Spotify over the PS5, while I game, so no issue on that. Currently using those, my VZR and the ATH-R70X and that's changing my mind on a lot of things. Open backs will haunt my wallet, unfortunately. But it is terribly important that you find what suits your needs best and gives you the best audio experience you are looking for!
After doing a bit of extensive research into the best current headset for FPS gaming (mainly footstep detail and directional info) I think the GOAT is the stealth pro! I currently use the Corsair virtuoso XT’s which I am happy with but I mainly bought them because of how good the mic quality is. Now I’m purely focused on FPS sound quality I’m hoping the stealth pro’s are a better option than the XT’s. In terms of music and all other media options I just use my Sony XM4’s which I think are fantastic so won’t be replacing those anytime soon. If anyone had any additional info that would be amazing! But I think it’s the stealth pros for me
Have the Nova Pro and think they’re almost perfect but then I went and got a simpler HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless. Smoother sound maybe less detail overall but that 300+ hour battery life is insane. Oh, and the comfort. Haven’t experienced anything more comfortable since the Steeleries Siberia V2 over 10 years ago. There still isn’t to this day a perfect headset as you say there is always some kind of compromise.
@@ertai222 no I’m serious it somehow has 300+ hours it’s absolutely insane and a sign of things to come for future headsets. From what I recall it’s simply using a far more efficient chipset and transceiver rather than a bigger battery.
I actually am currently running the SS Nova pro. I have the TB stealth pro to test, but I'm not sure if I want to. I've been running the hyperx alpha and the battery life is insane lol. But now I need a headset to go between two PCs simultaneously, so, boo. The compatibility of the SS and the hot swap battery is the main drive for me, but I'm afraid if I test the TB before I return them I'll spend a week and a half trying to decide tbh 😂
Wow, normally before a purchase I watch review videos from several different sources, but your channel covers everything A-Z, wandered on here to watch a review of the H3PRO, watched this next, then watched the Turtle beach stealth pro video. Even rewatched a few segments. I got sold on the Stealth pro for the simultaneous bluetooth, great sound quality and all the other above averages. Had to rule out H3PRO and the Maxwell cause the bluetooth wouldn't be just right for me. Although the looks on the H3PRO in green is so good.
I've had a Nova Pro for a year now, and I've really enjoyed it. But the Maxwell is VERY tempting. I listen to a lot more music lately and I feel like I could benefit from the quality. Just not sure if I should pull the trigger...
Would still like to see non gaming headphones included in the discussion as many use dedicated separate mics now for gaming. Also missed the VZR model one.
My JBL Quantum 800 broke on the neck and i bought Maxwell. From listening with wireless 2.4ghz, Maxwell has more resolution but less boom in the bass as JBLs are always known for the boom. In the higher frequency, Maxwell is absolutely amazing. But the finish is better and hopefully the steel band should last longer. I like the detachable mic on Maxwell as it will allow me to carry it around without looking dorky if I choose to do so.
Aha, I now know Maxwell being a bit too much detail and being a bit abrasive is normal after watching your video. It makes you hear unedited or unsmoothed details as well. Well, it is my first day with it so I would need to test it more.
I understand your approach. You want to show people out there the best sound for fps games. In my opinion there are no gaming headphones. You can use them for gaming because they have a microphone. But other headphones are better for feet and ambient noise. For my part, I need headphones that are very good in all areas for the money. And you can't get past the sound of the Maxwell. Even with the standard setting. It's just my opinion
How's the sound quality for fps? Can you hear footsteps/ locate them? I have a pair in a cart debating to order or not....I keep going back and forth. I'll hear positive reviews than something negative about fps. I play a lot of warzone
@@raylopez1583 I really like it, I play a lot o CoD MW2 and it does a good job tracking footsteps. It's way better than Audeze Penrose and Razer Kaira Pro, but...not as good as Epos H6 Pro specifically for tracking footsteps. Ideally, you should try it yourself, perhaps buy from a store that has a fair return policy.
@@alexgmrs I've been looking but no body has them I'm stock lol.idk if I should pull the trigger not. I have astros...I'm trying to find something to sway me either direction.
@@raylopez1583 I might be a bit biased towards Maxwell, it's a solid headset and does very well with FPS and story-driven games. I know what you mean, before pulling the trigger I did a lot of research and got "too much" information LOL Sound is always subjective, what is awesome for me, might be horrible for you. From my own experience and taste, I never liked the SteelSeries and Astro headsets, although there are great and positive reviews about them out there.
Very nice review. Definitely torn between the Maxwell and Stealth Pro. Quick question, where did you get the stands you are using for the Maxwell and Nova?
Appreciate and enjoy your reviews! I have both the Nova Pro Wireless and the Maxwell but the FPS performance and pinpointing at least for me has been much much better using the Maxwell (Competition Setting).
@@King-js7nw noticed footsteps can be much louder on the Nova Pro Wireless when using game specific presets. Ashika Island Apartments and the Underground Area with the water are a good test when comparing the directional imaging (vs just loudness).
Really appreciate the way you break the products down in your videos. Still gonna try out both the Maxwell and Stealths but your breakdown really helps. Being that I'm only on ps5 and Xbox, the Stealths seem like the way to go for me. I have several other headsets I enjoy for music. Another issue for console gaming can be the volume, especially on PS5 single player games. Which headset would you say gets the loudest? Appreciate the review 💯
Another excellent video. I just returned the Nova Pro Wireless after 6 months. They sounded decent with EQ and the ANC nub wasn’t an issue even with the standard wicked cushions. I recently got back into racing games with GT7 and ACC on PC. The Nova Pro Wireless had TERRIBLE sound in those games, specifically if your in a tight race and multiple engine sounds it would cut out or get really crackly/staticky. Happened on both PS5 ((GT7) and PC (ACC). You’ve mention a few times you play GT7 as well, curious if you have experienced that with the Nova Pro Wireless.
I had the nova 7 and sent them back because they sounded like trash and gave me ear fatigue.. issue is that sooo many people just want footsteps blasting and nothing else so that can hear people and not what the game should sound like. I was playing a game and the wall torches were blasting loud no matter where I was in the house and I could hear zombies a mile away but couldn't tell if they were next to me or 2 buildings away. Idk how people enjoy that type of sound.
@@Ryan-re1rs the nova 7 are the cheapest version of the novas pros ,if u buy the turtle beach gen 600 dont going to like the spund , the nova pro wireless are out of league
I have both. They are both really good. I like how the stealth pro's make a seal around my ears. It feels better to me. The pros are more exciting when playing games also.
Great video! Thanks for all the insights. However, I need your advice. I'm looking for a pair of gaming headphones (80% of the time) with a good microphone that I can occasionally use during bus/plane trips with good audio quality, noise isolation and preferably with the ability to hide the microphone. Budget is not an issue. What do you think is the best recommendation?
My favorite audio reviewer hands down. You n Badseed are my gotos! Thanks for all your time and efforts buddy! For the record. I've never heard of anyone mention this. The screen on nova pro both wired and wireless is OLED. IT WILL ALLOW BURN IN...Mine has had this happen. it's not a real big deal cause its always on same screen but going into menu I can clearly see the burn in effect. I wonder how it'll look after couple years as it's happening and its only been a few months thus far. My wired dock has the issue but my nova wireless dock is still fairly new so no issue yet. BE careful!
Thanks so much for the kind words!! Keep an eye out on Badseed and my channel. (We may be doing something together soon :)). Hopefully I don't get the OLED burn in for a long time. These are still connected in my system and the DAC is on all the time. Haven't had any issues yet but we'll see what happens over time.
What headphone stands are those at the beginning? I like the wood ones I’ve seen you use in the past but I’m afraid those might stretch out the headphones a bit. 0:19
Been watching your vids for a while, I plan to buy Nova Pro Wireless. Do you have any concerns on the build quality? Also, I play tons of Hunt Showdown where sound is super important, I am hoping they would be good for it. Thanks, love the content!
I've had the Maxwell for a few weeks now and they are light years better than the ATH-G1WL's I was using, even in games just out of the box. My main question is where did you get the pads for them??? I don't see the Maxwell as an option from Wicked Pads, unless the another pad fits?
Best Headset Reviewer. I game wired w/ Bose 700nc and I am thinking about getting something dedicated. My buddy just got Nova Pro and is in Love on PC. We used your tuning video too!
Hi Joe! I noticed your custom EQ settings for the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro in this video differ from your custom EQ settings for the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro in your Warzone 2 Season 4 Ultimate EQ video. Your custom EQ settings in this video had the bass jacked up much more than in the Warzone 2 Season 4 Ultimate EQ video. More bass in this video, less bass in the Season 4 Ultimate EQ video. Any reason for the change? Did u decide to switch up your custom settings after spending more time using the headset to play? Just curious which setting you favor more and if there was any reason for the change. Thanks for sharing all you do. It’s really helpful. Have a good night.
Been using the maxwell on PS5 for about a month. They are nice but prefer the VZR model one for shooters like call of duty and BF2042. The audeze maxwell are used for single player story driven games like horizon forbidden west.
Very informative video, thank you. I recently ordered the Arctis Nova Pro Wired (because I don't think wireless is as important as better sound) and the WH-1000XM4 to test and keep one of them. The Nova Pro was really powerful, hearing so much detail in the sound was really good. The 1000XM4 couldn't keep up seriously, maybe beacause it's wireless. However, I noticed how cool noise canceling can be (I use an aio watercooled system and for some reason sometimes it sounds more annoying with headset on), so I sent both back and am looking for something that combines both strengths of the headsets. I'm leaning towards the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, but the turtle beach might also be of interest. But the prices...
Sorry for the slightly off topic question, but curious what your thoughts are on the beoplay portal compared to these newer anc headsets? Best Buy has the portal on sale for 200 right now
Really wanted the maxwell, but my country doesn't have it. So I decided to go with the nova 7 because I am really worried about the the comfort and heard a lot of complains about the inside microphone that are on the pro's. So far I do not have any complaints, I really like the EQ you used for the 7's in your previous videos! Thank you very much!
You mean the noise cancelling? This hurts my ear also if that's what you meant. I am tempted to try the nova 7 compared to the pro. I guess they are the same otherwise.
I hated the nova 7x, no matter what I did they gave such a weird sound in games.. even gave me ear fatigue and I never experienced that in my life, what a weird feeling that was.. I have the h6pro and they are great, but no sidetone and now I'm on the hunt to make them work with sidetone and bought the gsx 1000. Now I'm 300 deep into this setup and its still not that great.
Thanks!
my friend in canada bought the headset and he says the turtlebeach is really quiet i have the wireless nova pro are they that different in sound?
Brilliant, thanks for your feedback. 😊
Are your eq settings still the same for the stealth pros for warzone2????

Do you play FPS? ->Stealth pros, youll make more use of the tech, and if you listen to music, just EQ it. It good enough for me.
Music, but some video games once in a minute? Maxwells
But yeah, I bough the Razer blackshark v2 pros after my Astro A50's batteries started getting slightly questionable, then I bough the Stealth Pros right after.

Even as a PC player, i ordered myself a maxwell. I just cant ignore the sound quality potential of the headset.
Just picked up the stealths. Thank you for your insight!!
The 700 MAX Gen2 had connectivity issues sporadically at my environment and I had to return it when I saw the announcement of the Stealth Pro which is now on the way.
bro the novas pro in the ps5 sound sick check the EQ that they have for the dax

I recently bought a set of Synheiser 560 and not too thrilled with them. Now I would LOVE a wireless set with charging dock.
(You don't notice it until you put a fresh battery in, and realize how much more the dampening is when the fresh battery is loaded in)
Final note - I don't "customize" and "fully leverage" my headsets.
Waiting on my Stealth Pro to show up Sunday. Looking forward to experiencing the power behind ‘em.
How they treatin you ?
I tried them and was fantastic sounding, however for most games I was cranking them upto max volume on ps5, except cod, weirdly that game was overall louder and had to turn them down. I am going to try the Maxwell and then decide to together keep them or re-order the stealths and put up with the volume limit. At the moment I am back to the novas, which are awesome for FPS games, just boring as hell for any story based games where you want a fun sound! the stealth was fun, just limited volume as I have always found with Turtlebeach, not sure why.

@@mrsisig7443 sorry to confirm, Maxwells should outshine the HyperX also for footsteps?
I really like the volume wheel. Easy to deal with, unlike the Penrose and Maxwell's I also have.
Once again you hit the nail on the head with the descriptions on all of these headphones.... how you explain this on this video people are for sure going to have a definite pick out of these three for their own listening experience.... your explanations on these headphones are on point

My main concern here is durability, I just can’t have the headset break or its battery die very fast, because I won’t have the luxury to buy new headphones in my country.
Which pair of headsets do you think would last more?
Turtle beach.
Have the Maxwell and nova pro wireless....Maxwell is number one for me except for FPS. Nova pro wins FPS for me but it's the Maxwell for everything else. Have the stealth pros on order, can't wait to give them a go.
i play adventure games and watching movies...which is better between maxwell and turtle beach='00?
Let us know how they stacked up! I’m looking to purchase one of these soon. Mostly play single player games but I do play the ocasional call of duty match.
How is the stealth pro in direction cues compared to nova?
Do you still like the Nova pro? Considering getting it.
I am torn between nova pro wireless and stealth pro.. do you still recommend nova pro wireless? I am on pc
@@jameelkurabi yes I love them and I’ve yet to run into a single issue using them almost daily
@@texca7761 I love the nova pros and personally won’t be considering anything else anytime soon.
Hope this helps
i just discovered your channel and your review of headsets is beyond anyone else's. you helped me decided what to buy. thank you dude.
Thanks Joe
Maxwell is so good, I haven't even charged my headset in 2 months of casual use!
Only a good battery doenst make it a good headset there need to be more reasons to call it good
Thank you so much for this video.
Finally, I sincerely hope that the person who gets the Nova Pro Wireless I am returning loves it for their competitive FPS gaming.
hey, could you give an update on how the maxwells performed? Are they good for music, gaming, etc?
@@fernoflakeI am working on a video review (a lot less quality than this one here) but I am SUPER happy with them. Bass performance is amazing compared to the Nova Pros and I feel like the spatial audio is 99% as good as the Nova Pros. Very happy with them. They truly are the gold standard in my opinion. Battery life has been almost 80 hours. The female voice that announces functions is super soothing as well.
Exactly what I've done, I just cannot find an eq or sonar setting with the Novas that im happy with, it's like they are just not quite right. Maxwell's on the way.
“Just because it’s old doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be considered.”
Nothing fits that more perfectly than the classic Yeti Mic 😂
Would you say the TB Stealth pro is the best headset for xbox series x? If not then what would you say is? I use my headset primarily for gaming.
One thing the nova pro seems to do better then other headsets with simultaneous bluetooth, is you can adjust the bluetooth volume independently solely via your phone. If you lower or raise the headset volume it will not effect the Bluetooth volume.
I believe it's the same on the stealth pro
Can you do an EQ settings video on the maxwell? Not for footsteps but for single player story games
Great review! Just outlining the feats, advantages and cons. Not trying to sell anything.
Thanks man :)
Subscribed. Haven't seen anyone go back to old equipment to compare it. Thanks for the review.
300 hours? You sure you didn't add a 0? No headset lasts 300+ hours
@@ertai222 No, it has been tested and it has!
@@ertai222 no I’m serious it somehow has 300+ hours it’s absolutely insane and a sign of things to come for future headsets. From what I recall it’s simply using a far more efficient chipset and transceiver rather than a bigger battery.
@@ertai222yeah, the hyperx alpha battery life is insane. I tested it with mine. I literally charge it like once a month 😂
I had A50 gen 4s. Bought the Stealth Pros. Wasnt sure if I was going to keep the Pros but I have really been enjoying them!!
Wow, normally before a purchase I watch review videos from several different sources, but your channel covers everything
A-Z, wandered on here to watch a review of the H3PRO, watched this next, then watched the Turtle beach stealth pro video.
Which is best for singleplayer games ? ( God of war, tlou, Uncharted, metro....)
Wow. Thank you for such a thorough breakdown, couldn't ask for more. Outstanding.
Maxwell on backorder... Im waiting for mine
It's just a shame that the Maxwell launch has been pretty terrible.. still not available in the UK, US seems weak and support is next to non-existent.
Thanks for this review, great stuff. I've been enjoying my Audeze Maxwell, it does a very good job on FPS and more story-oriented games.
@Alex Guimaraes thank you for the feed back. Appreciate you
Very nice review.
Nova Pro or Maxwell? PC only Bluetooth for phone calls and maybe an audiobook.
Haha no nova pro is much better for footsteps :)
@@King-js7nw noticed footsteps can be much louder on the Nova Pro Wireless when using game specific presets. Ashika Island Apartments and the Underground Area with the water are a good test when comparing the directional imaging (vs just loudness).
great comparison as usual! how'd you manage to get the Maxwell wicked cushions though😲thought they're not released yet
Such a shame that noisy neighbours mean my headphones need to be $200 more expensive! Thank god you're here to help out, thanks!
You’ve mention a few times you play GT7 as well, curious if you have experienced that with the Nova Pro Wireless.
iv been loving the novas since release but i only use sonar
i have a custom eq that gt 7 sound loud and sick
I had the nova 7 and sent them back because they sounded like trash and gave me ear fatigue.. issue is that sooo many people just want footsteps blasting and nothing else so that can hear people and not what the game should sound like. I was playing a game and the wall torches were blasting loud no matter where I was in the house and I could hear zombies a mile away but couldn't tell if they were next to me or 2 buildings away. Idk how people enjoy that type of sound.
@@Ryan-re1rs I didn’t really car for the 7s the were kinda flat didn’t use them with sonar at the time but 9s are way better for pc
@@Ryan-re1rs the nova 7 are the cheapest version of the novas pros ,if u buy the turtle beach gen 600 dont going to like the spund , the nova pro wireless are out of league
Listening on the Maxwell but still kind of tempted to try the Stealth Pro also :)
Preordered the Stealth Pro but tempted to get the Maxwell's too.
@@street1008 that’s my plan, stealth pros first due to the simultaneous audio, and then maxwells a bit later for the pure glorious clarity
BE careful!
"I wonder how it'll look after couple years" but modern ultra expensive hardware isnt built to last :)
@@GadgetryTech thats the problem. My Wired DAC stays on even when PC is off. Lesson learned lol.
What headphone stands are those at the beginning? I like the wood ones I’ve seen you use in the past but I’m afraid those might stretch out the headphones a bit. 0:19
I think they are form Dynavox
Thanks so much!
@@GadgetryTech Care to drop Nova Pro w/ Cooling Pads Sonar tune? Or just use the same as your original Sonar vid?

Absolutely the best reviewer for this genre of headsets/gaming. Thank you!
man best review i ever seen, great job ty
Been using the maxwell on PS5 for about a month. They are nice but prefer the VZR model one for shooters like call of duty and BF2042. The audeze maxwell are used for single player story driven games like horizon forbidden west.
29:08 excellent nutshell summary, thank you! Great video!
Just the full comparison i was looking on the internet today.
Best Buy has the portal on sale for 200 right now
Why do you like gaming on the stealth pro over the Maxwell? Seems like the Maxwell has better spatial audio
Hi! Great review, appreciate it :) What about movie+PS5 combination? Which one is better for that?
Incredible detailed video, had all the knowledge correct and straight up. Awesome
