    Just an update on the long ranger Aussie long range tank, it does come with a fitting for the sender unit which make the fuel gauge accurate, regardless each fuel block on your range guage as you have 10 blocks equate to 100klms range each if you have the long ranger tank.

    • @justjimny
      @justjimny  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great thank you for the feedback👍

    • @johanneswehrmann
      @johanneswehrmann ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You still need to double the range reading manually (in your head) because the electronics don’t adapt to the larger fuel capacity the Long Ranger tank gives.

    • @jasonkofoed6626
      @jasonkofoed6626 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johanneswehrmann appreciate the input, I have the tank installed it’s working fine.
      I’ve never used the range counter even with the 40 litre tank as it’s inaccurate both in my jimny and the wife’s swift navigator.
      What is accurate is the fuel guage blocks, each are around 50 klms in the 40 litres tank and 100klms in the long ranger tank.
      So regardless what number the gauge says, for instance it may tell me I have 350 klms range left but indicates I have 6 blocks I know I have closer to 600 klms left.
      Suzuki has always had subjective electronic fuel gauges displays in all the time I’ve owned them, what I can say is it’s no fault of the long ranger fuel tank and the fact the blocks indicate very accurately your remaining fuel it’s very easy to calculate each block represents 100klms at minimum.
      I run 235s MTs on my Jimmy with the long ranger and never get less than 1000klms per tank represented accurately.

    • @johanneswehrmann
      @johanneswehrmann ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jasonkofoed6626 I find it interesting about the measuring blocks and I’ll keep my eyes on that for sure.
      Above all else, the Long Ranger in my opinion is a worthwhile upgrade and it’s serving the Jimny well. In perfect conditions (no wind etc) I foresee a comfortable range reachability of 900kms including a safe buffer of 100kms when the reserve light is activated.
      I have 215 A/T’s and a full sized roof rack fitted so my average consumption is not too great, especially in very windy conditions where the 1,5 has to work hard to maintain a fair speed on the freeway.
      🤙🏻

    • @jasonkofoed6626
      @jasonkofoed6626 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johanneswehrmann I’m hearing you, windy conditions is definitely the jimnys kryptonite.
      I purchased the long ranger tank cause when outback it’s a long, long, long way to a servo.
      I’ve never been big on carrying extra fuel containers or refueling at isolated stations with questionable product being sold from the bowser.
      So when I heard the jb74 had other options I was onto it and selected the best tank from the available options.
      Sure the long ranger fuel gauge does not give an accurate numerical indication of klms left in the fuel tank but it certainly gives an accurate analog indication of fuel remaining as described previously.
      If I was in Europe I wouldn’t bother with a bigger fuel tank as it’s not really needed but where we live and take our little adventures, fuel range is a must consider issue each and every time the big smoke fades in the rear view mirror.
      I hear the 215s are fantastic and to be honest the layman wouldn’t notice the difference if we parked side by side, I guess the only difference is you have a roof rack and I understand the thinking as square footage for storage is a huge challenge in the jimmy’s arsenal.
      Appreciate the discussion, it’s always beneficial hearing from another jimny owner.

    There are better looking roof racks than mine, but the cost doesn’t motivate the price here in GUA. So I designed one of my own, had it made here. With it I also designed a ladder. Both for a fraction of the price compared to the branded ones.
    Today, on the roof, I have two large old tool boxes that fits the look of the car pretty well. I only put light stuff in these two boxes.
    Within a month or so I will add six round 4” LED aux. lights facing forward, two or four cheap ditch lights on the sides, and two reverse lights at the rear of the roof rack.
    Later I will have a 20L jerry can fitted on the lower end of the rear ladder.
    I have ordered a rear diff-locker from Kaiser in Brazil. EI expect delivery of it in around a month or two. In Dec I will order a front one as well.
    I subscribe to your attitude, Raymond. Keep it simple, don’t get stuff you don’t need, spend your money wisely.

    Hi. Thanks for overall info. One watch-out regarding airbags and seats covers. At least for Europe market jimny’s. In my jimny airbags also located in front seats. You can check EU user manual. It has side air bags which located in front seat-backs + side curtain air-bags located in roof.

      In our South African version there are no airbags in the seats. Will keep in mind for EU owners.

    The original scissor jack should be positioned at the little nob under the radious arm. If you place it anywhere else you might lose your car while it’s up.

    • @justjimny
      @justjimny  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      With a suspension lift , jacking on the shock mount , will get the wheel in the air the fastest , also noting that this needs to be done on level ground with the spare underneath the car to prevent damage ans injury while swopping the wheel.

    Des Sol long range fuel tank has a longer float arm which helps with the gauge readings.

      It should make the readings a bit more accurate , but does it compensate on all the meters like Range?

    Hello Raymond, I think ur review and videos are the most honest and informative I have seen about the Jimny, thank you. I am from India and just wanted to know what are your thoughts abt the 5 door jimny launched in India and if you think crucial upgrades like the ones you have done with undercarriage protection and suspension will be available for the longer wheelbase one. And how different will they be from the ones for the 3 door ones?

    • @alibharmal8540
      @alibharmal8540 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Please do consider making a video on your thoughts and opinion comparing the Jimny 3 Door and 5 Door.. it is one of the most anticipated cars in India and like me a lot of viewers would be interested in what you have to say :)

    • @justjimny
      @justjimny  ปีที่แล้ว

      Would be a great comparison , I will just have to wait till the 5 door arrives in South Africa , to do a decent comparison👍

    • @justjimny
      @justjimny  ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the accesories of the 3 door should work on the 5 door , like suspension kits , diff protectors . Ones that would need to be developed for the 5 door will be rocksliders , because the 5 door is longer. But most accesories not influenced by the length should be a straight fit. Thanks for the support👍

    Good show and very informative. Just a quick question... would it be a better idea to fit a two piece rack on the roof just to fit a awning. I don't do 4x4 trails yet but a lot if fishing adventures and want something to throw shade ( don't want the whole gazebo thing) what would you suggest? Thank you

    • @justjimny
      @justjimny  ปีที่แล้ว

      For most awnings around you will need a full roofrack , most of them fasten on the roofrack rails , there are multiple ones around depending on how much shade you want , I will always go for the lightest one around , which should be the Frontrunner one that just pulls out and you have 2 poles at the other end. The 180 , 270 degree awnings are made from ripstop canvas and are really heavy.

    • @leonstroebel6992

    • @justjimny
      @justjimny  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes its the transfercase chain that has slack and then when you pull off in first the chain tensions and that causes the noise , nothing to be concerned about.

    Hello Raymond .
    What do you tin of the Oldman Emu suspension kit 40 mm ?
    This kit is now on sale in Morocco by the local Suzuki dealer .
    Thanks for Your advice .

    • @justjimny
      @justjimny  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jean-Luc , I think the OME is a good suspension , its just really expensive to get a full kit from them. Most dealers just sell the shocks and coils , but with 40mm you still need cross brace relocation , so you drive shaft clears properly , ABS relocation pipes , brake line extensions and the headlight adjustment bracket. On some Austrialian groups they also complain that the OME shocks catch the rear panhard , this is mainly caused by bad installation or the wrong size shocks being fitted.So check what they offer on this special , and make sure they fit the Jimny shocks. Thats why I prefer the Tough Dog suspension , they provide you with a full kit at a good price , and the performance is great.

      Hi , ek het n video gedoen wat die verskille wys tussen die handrat en automaties. Ek weet nog nie van iemand wat n suprcharger op gesit het nie , maar daar is al n paar met turbos , as julle na meer van my videos kyk , sal julle sien is ek n voorstaander om die jimny so naby aan standaard te hou as moontlik. Met turbos en superchargers gaan jy probleme begin kry met sideshafts , transfer case chains ens wat breek , aan gesien die Jimny drivetrain nie ontwerp is vir soveel krag nie , glo my jy wil nie n jimny 180kph ry nie🤯. Met minder gewig ry my Jimny nog steeds 140kph sonder probleem , so wat will julle met nog extra krag doen?
