    Great set up. I had a seadoo gtx 300 have sold that now and ordered Yamaha 1800 non turbocharged. I will fit it out with shoreline when I get it in August hopefully. Seadoo we’re very stable ski. Things I didn’t like the seat sat lower bending your legs more over the day. The motor got extremely hot cooking the seat under you making it hot and uncomfortable. My mates Yamaha rode through chop and swell so much easier. The seadoo slappped more hurting my back. The footwells on seadoo are deep so when stopped fishing they hold a lot of water which was not good for me. Just a few things there I noticed. I’m hoping the Yamaha does the job for me but that just my personal preference on skis

      @Jetcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and for your comments Tidal Flow. I think you’ll like your Yamaha. Each ski has its positives and negatives but the FXHO is a very good and reliable unit so you should enjoy it!

    • @Jetcast
      @Jetcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fred tried to answer you but for some reason his comments won't work! And I haven't blocked him! But he said that as long as the mod doesn't cause the failure, all should be ok. It's like putting an aftermarket tow bar on your car, and the motor has a fault. You don't void your car warranty.

  • @jamesstrachan2288
    @jamesstrachan2288 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks boys for the video like that Fred has the electric motor. I want to get a PWC but am going back and forward with the seafood fish pro and Yamaha HO. I am concerned about the seadoo with some saying it rides like dolphin porpoising no matter what they do. Being set up the fish pro is a specialised fishing ski which is good, however i would like the pods on the side as well like the shoreline tubbies.

    • @Jetcast
      @Jetcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi James, choice is good, and drives the competition! I still prefer my FXHO, but this video shows there are alternatives. If you want a finished package because you don't have a local dealers to fit out a base ski, then the Fish Pro might be for you. I am a person that is concerned about safety and engine reliability offshore. You also might think about the cost and frequency of repairs/maintenance if you do the motor hours I do. Shoreline Jetskis in Brisbane do both brands and specialise in fishing fitouts.. They are now doing packages of either FXHO or Fish Pro (or GTX) units with Tubbies, so both options covered. The trolling motor is a luxury when you get very serious and willing to spend the money to save engine hours. Currently I simulate the spot lock manually using the ski engine to hover over the deepwater marks. But that's why I have over 500hrs on my ski now. in 3 years. Not that hours on a Yamaha are much of a problem except maybe for perceptions when reselling. My engine has never had any issues, and still is solid. But if you do go Seadoo, choose a specialist dealer who really knows how to service them- I keep hearing a very high level of skill is required to ensure the engine and drive shaft is aligned perfectly so that the carbon seals and other parts last to specs. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      Hi Frank, Fred is currently overseas and probably won’t see this. But I’ve seen the battery and it’s a big lithium ion model that’s mounted in the rear of his right hand pod. I think it’s a 100ah and less than half the weight of a lead acid or gel cel.

    • @Jetcast
      @Jetcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Howdy again! Battery starters are any that you can get from an automotive store...the battery pack jumpstarters that you can use should your battery fail. Despite having dual batteries, I myself carry one that I got on eBay, and it has been used several times over the last 3 years or so to start other people's cars, boats, and skis! Fred's old Wakepro ski was one of those! I have even started my own 4WD with it one cold morning! Mics are Instamic.

  • @troykarcher2308
    @troykarcher2308 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    hi , how much would it cost to set up a jetski like yours?

    • @Jetcast
      @Jetcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Troy, it would vary from say $25K AUD upwards to mid/late 30ks. We have seen 8--15% price rises in products this year so it's is not getting any cheaper. But I must say for me - and many friends - it has been well worth the money in terms of improvement in overall mental health alone! It gives me so much focus that I can't imagine ever stopping now! The money /cost of it all fades from memory quickly if you really get into this sport and experience the joy it brings. If I did have bucket loads of money, I'd probably buy a massive fishing boat, take friends along, probably need someone launch it for me, and would also need a huge 4WD to tow it. But even f I had all the money to to throw at it, it would have to be something like a 8M unit to go out where we go -and when on the jet skis. So basically I'd need to find around $300K (boat + car) to replicate the fun and experience we get from our kitted-out jet skis.

  • @1FishinAddict
    @1FishinAddict 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    As much as I love fishing from a jetski, but with all these mods would it be better to just get a small boat ?

    • @Jetcast
      @Jetcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are several things that make a ski win in a comparison to a (small) boat if you are talking about the adding of accessories as the tipping point. The main one for me is where you can fish on a well equipped ski. You'd need a 6m+ ocean going boat to match the range, performance, and capability (in weather) to go where we fish. Here that means a spend of at least $75K (AUD) and probably more like $100K to get it fully kitted out for the styles and range of fishing we do. We regularly cross coastal bars, and do around 120km per trip, so that immediately steps you up into a different class of boat, and therefore way different cost comparison. Downsides are getting wet, taking people, and in some locations cold weather would be a limiting factor. If I had the money, I'd have both, but the boat would be more use for pleasure cruising than fishing I'd say. Thanks for joining in on the discussion!

    I don’t get it, better off buying a boat. Far more comfortable to fish on

    • @Jetcast
      @Jetcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plenty of reasons, but major is that we fish offshore and cross coastal bars that you'd need to buy a 6M offshore boat to go as safely, economically, or indeed as fast as we can, and in weather that challenges many. There's really no comparison in price, and the comfort factor depends if you're a serious sports fisho or just pretending! ;) We'd all love that huge centre console fishing weapon, but it's quite impractical in so many ways for so many people.
